June is the best month to visit, even if the temp is 2 degrees colder on average than in July. You'll get the best midnight sun that month, since the days start getting shorter from the 21st of June. There will be less insects in June than in July, allowing you to enjoy nature even more. And you'll have peace and quiet (+ more to yourself), since most of the tourists have not arrived yet.
May I ask that if I’m a tourist from Asia planning solo travel to Norway without any debit or credit cards , just cash , would I be able to find some cafe that accept cash and able to ride bus using cash ?
Great video! Better than most travel documentaries I've seen. Straight to the point and no wasting time with selfie sticks and annoying music. Congrats!
Thanks for the Magic of the imagen, soft voice and rekaxing music. I expect to return for 3rd time to this small heaven on northearth, in spite of his terrible prices. Thanks again
At least in my XP as a southern Norwegian, June is probably the best month to visit the north. It's almost always wet anyway. In spring and early summer from melt water, in late summer and autumn from rain. The weather tends to be best in late May/June. But I would be very hard pressed to suggest a time of year to tourists where they don't run a somewhat severe risk of becoming wet. Rain jacket, a good sweater, the best footwear you can afford, some sort of a hat and optimism are the things you will need on holiday in Norway. Also money. PS: Winter can be amazing too. It can also be absolutely horrible. Upside is clear, still weather, deep cold and northern lights swirling across the stars. Downside is clouds at ground level and a blizzard/rainstorm simultaneously in the dark while rivers of melted snow threaten to elope with you out to sea.. It rains down first and then back up again for good measure. And a little sideways and some round and round to make sure you get wet. You won't be able to see a damn thing either and might as well vacation inside your cupboard at home.
Thank you for the information and the beautiful pictures. I'm planning to travel there in july 2023 but I'm not going to rent a car. I'm a public transport person and I found that where the rails end, Norway has decent bus services. I might not be able to get to the most remote corners but I also don't have to spend thousands on transportation alone that way. I still have to work out details such as where to stay overnight and who to visit, but I'll get to it.
This is one of the most beautiful travel videos I've ever watched. For the exuberance of Lofoten and the high quality of the images and editing. Congratulations and thanks!
Hi, We will be in Lofoten, Senja and FinnMark from mid June . Your film is incredible sharp. Can you tell me how you do to post thers sharp images. I have a DJ drone Mavic, an Iphone…but I am never able to post my films so sharp as you can. Can you tell me what to do about settings and/or editing? Best regards
Amazing, we been there few years back with my 1 year old son now 3! Until now i am still in awe of its beauty! We could not hike much though having a baby! We did the ferry trip from bodo and stayed in one of Rorburs in Reine! Such beauty!
Wow, great video! Been to Norway in the Sognefjord region twice in the last 7 years, so want to visit Lofoten and Tromsø. You come right to the point with no fluff. We also do the AirBnb/VRBO rental properties, so that is fun to do. Thank you again for this information.
Settlements in Lofoten doesn't only "date back to the viking age". It's MUCH MUCH MUCH older. The viking age started 1.230 years ago (in 793), the first settlements in Lofoten were around 10.000 years ago, meaning EIGHT TIMES older. Apart from that, great video from my region of the world - thanks :)
Thanks for the incredible inputs Caleb - Can you share more details on the Car hire ? The van cost you mentioned for 12 days is quite inexpensive compared to the other options i am seeing online. Would be great if you can share details on the rental service you used please. Cheers. Yogesh
FANTASTIC video! Probably visiting next year some time. Was thinking early September, but you might’ve convinced me to go during the midnight sun. Thanks!! Subbed as well 👌🏽
Nice video! Short and to the point. I am planning a driving & hiking trip in Norway for early July 2023. It will be from Tromsø to Starvagen, including Senja (hike Segla and Hesten) and Lofoten islands (hike Ryten & Kvalv, Bunes Beach & Helvetestind, and Munken), then fly to Ålesund (hike Saksa in Sunnmore Alps and visit Geirangerfjord), followed by the 3 iconic hikes (Trolltunga, Pulpit Rock, Kjeragbolton). Can you share the name or info of the airbnb in Hamnøy (a rorbuer? ) and other locations on Senja and Lofoten islands ? Thanks.
Lovely work Caleb. Beautifully filmed, narrated and produced. We were in Lofoten in 2019 and your video took us to many places we visited. Now we are really looking foward to returning. Did you get to Alesund? That was a special place for us too. Regards and thank you from Sydney, Australia - Dave
Did you book your accommodations in advance or just find them on the fly? We have been told it can be very tough to find accommodations in June/July without advance booking.
May I ask that if I’m a tourist from Asia planning solo travel to Norway without any debit or credit cards , just cash , would I be able to find some cafe that accept cash and able to ride bus using cash ?
Quick question - Do you think its possible to see some of southern Norway in the same trip? (Stavingar, Bergen, Geirangerfjord) or is the country just too spread out to enjoy it all in the same trip?
