Thank you SO much for this amazing and practical guide. It helps us to plan our upcoming trip next year! It is not easy to find information about hikes on Lofoten specifically. Much much appreciated! And of course the video itself breathtaking!
Thank you so much for uploading this. My partner and I are currently planning a Euro trip and we will hopefully be spending 4 days on the Lofoten Islands, and we want to get in as many hikes as possible. This video has been such a great help!
Great work on documenting the details, I really appreciate all the notes you've added in your video, so many hikers feel the need to hide the details from everyone but I really appreciated your details specially because I plan on visiting Lofoten this year, you actually helped me plan much easier. I applaud you for making all hikes and I enjoyed your videography and narration of the your trip.
Wow, what an incredible video! The breathtaking views of the Lofoten Islands have left me speechless. These hikes are definitely a must-do for any nature enthusiast. I can't wait to plan my own trip and experience the beauty firsthand. Thank you for sharing this amazing adventure with us!
My dear soul, this is truly an amazing video, :) I absolutely love how calming and soothing it is to just press play and be taken on this hiking journey with you. My life has been very stressful lately, with a lot of transformation and changes, and this is something I needed to help my mind to be at ease more. You also remind me to get out there into nature and find more calming time with mother nature. Which is something I used to do way more and got caught too much in city life. Sending much love, and thank you for sharing it with us :)
Thank you for spending time on safety measures ❤️ extra clothes and windproof layer is so important, it can get cold real fast. I live in Tromsø but visit close friends in lofoten often. It’s so beautiful but accidents happen even for experienced hikers. I’m glad you enjoyed your trip and that you at least got some sunny days ☺️
Your video showed us the direction of this summer, Lofoten. We will try the routes you indicated. Thank you for the very high-quality advice. Greetings from Lithuania. Sorry for mistakes. Rolandas
Lofoten is a great place to go, but during summer it can bet packed with tourists. There is a region just north-east of Lofoten called Vesterålen, which is just as beautiful as Lofoten and has much fewer tourists. It does not have as many steep jagged mountains but just as many or more trails. My homeplace.
Wow, great and interesting video❤! We’re going to Norway this summer with my wife and 2 sons of 13&11 and Lofoten islands is on top of our list. Hopefully we can do most of these hikes. Groetjes uit Antwerpen 🇧🇪🙏
Thanks for the great video. It may be worth pointing out that for the Kvalvika hike, it appears that you did not start at the official Kvalvika trail head, which might cause some confusion
I feel like we are following you two around the world! In 2022, we went to the Canadian Rockies, including Assiniboine. And we are planning for Lofoten in 2024 so I was so glad to see your video! How crowded would you say it is there? Seems like you were almost alone on your hikes. I also really appreciate your tips on making the hikes easier - I was too scared to do some of the Kananaskis hikes due to exposure so I like to hear alternatives while still getting incredible views. Thank you!
Haha nice! The Lofoten are beautiful! The hikes are generally a lot shorter in distance there than in the Canadian Rockies. It wasn't too crowded when we were there (surprisingly because it was August so high season). I think there are so many trails there that it doesn't get too busy on most of them. The only busy trails were Reinebringen (that's the most famous hike in teh area) and Kvalvika - but it didn't bother us too much as we still had our own space.
It's a hard choice! But our personal preference would probably be: 1. Reinebringen (the view is just unmatched with any other view you'll find... though it gets busy) 2. Offersøykammen (the trail was easier, grassy, and more quiet 3. Kvalvika & Ryten (we liked the variety of this trail, it was longer in distance so felt more like a real hike to us)
We don't think it's that easy. Because you'll have to take a ferry at some point... There might be some buses that run between the bigger cities in the Lofoten (like Svolvaer and Henningsvaer), but it's very limited. Definitely recommend having your own vehicle or going on an arranged tour.
Hi. I loved this video. I’m not the strongest hiker. If you were to recommend one of the best medium hikes to do as a challenge for a beginner which would you suggest? I thought I could do the two easy and one medium and then my son who is a good hiker could do two more (5/6 day trip in the area). Also is there any hard/medium hike that has a town near by I could enjoy while he’s hiking.
Thank you! I’d say definitely hike to Ytresand. It’s easy and breathtaking. A medium one you can’t miss is Offersøykammen. The trail isn’t very long, but it can get muddy! Reinebringen is the most famous / classic view in all of the Lofoten so I’d highly recommend adding that one as well. It’s steep but not technical as it’s all stairs. You could enjoy the views from the town of Reine below when your son hikes that one.
Maybe the Uttakleiv To Haukland and Ytresand trails would be possible. I think depending if all roads are open. Also would recommend to bring cleats for snowy conditions! That will help with grip!
Hi, we've fixed the links now for the trail routes! You can find them in our blog post. Sorry about the inconvenience before: www.worldwildhearts.com/post/lofoten-islands-road-trip-itinerary
Hi I love yours videos! I would like to know if there are some fees for the parking near the beginning of the hikes. If its yes, how can we pay? (Cash, credit...) Thanks!!!!!!
We never carried any cash in Norway! Most of the parking lots don’t charge a fee. Some do and there’s usually a machine you can pay at with your credit card. We downloaded the App “easy park” to pay for parking (and works with your credit card). It’s used everywhere in Norway it seems!
They are definitely more challenging than in the US national parks! Like trails often go straight up the mountain rather than having a path with switchbacks
June, July, August and September are the safe bet. Maybe some of the easier trails could be accessible with snowshoes but definitely be careful! Yttersand and Uttakleiv to Haukland are fairly easy trails

@@worldwildhearts Thankyou very much. Thats what I thought based on video.
fantastic video and what an amazing place. How easy is it to get to the Lofoten Islands via pubic transport from Tromso?

Thank you very much amazing guide. For example when you say “3h total” you mean 3h return? Meaning 1.5H each way? I’m referring to the Festvagtind…
Yes indeed! total means the entire time taken. So maybe it's 2 hours up and 1 down or so!
@@worldwildhearts thank you very much. Any advice on Vaeroy hornet-haen hike?
Weird question but where the T-shirt from at 13:02 ? Love the video!!
Tentree, a Canadian brand!
Such an informative video, u think Reinebringen hike would be accessible in winter time (February) ?
Might be very very snowy up there! Not sure the trail is open, you will need ice cleats because it would be too dangerous if you don’t have them
Gotcha, thank u!
very nice! how does the drone do in the wind up there?? is it a larger one?
It’s the mini 3 so not a big one! It did fine but we flew it on non-windy days only!
Worth noting: The maximum legal drone flying height is 120 meters, in all of Norway.@@worldwildhearts

Can you tell me if drones are allowed on these hikes.
Are there any charging facility at Hauklandstranda beach to charge my drone / camera?
I searched online, but couldn't get any answer.
I don't think so! Didn't see many charging stations in general when we were camping

Possible, but a corean guy had to be rescued on reinebringen last week by local mountaineers, the wind was too strong for the helicopter.
