    In this video, Nick from CPAP Reviews looks at how to change the clinical settings on the BMC Luna IQ Auto CPAP Machine.
    The Clinical settings are different from the patient settings. In the clinical settings you can change things like
    Mode - Auto / CPAP
    MIN APAP Pressure - The min level of the pressure range
    MAX APAP Pressure - The maximum level of the pressure range
    RAMP Pressure - The starting pressure
    Basically the machine will start at the Ramp Pressure (normally between set at between 4-6cmH20). It will then ramp up over a set 'RAMP TIME' period to the min APAP pressure.
    After this initial RAMP TIME period has elapsed, the machine will automatically vary the pressure between the MIN APAP setting and the MAX APAP pressure setting depending on what pressure is required based on your breathing profile.
    If you are having a lot of snoring and apnoea the pressure will increase to open up the airway more and even out the breathing profile. If you breathing is okay the pressure will gradually decrease over time etc.
    The therapy is Automatic however you can use the sleep data to fine tune the upper and lower pressure limits of your device (MIN APAP and MAX APAP settings).
    One of the Data variables is called the P95.
    This is the value required to control 95% of your snoring and sleep apnoea.
    If we look at this value, averaged out over a week we can use it as a guide on where to set the MAX APAP SETTING.
    IE - If we had a p95 value of 10, we could set the MAX APAP setting at 10 and we could assume that it would control 95% of our sleep apnoea and snoring.
    The benefit of this is that by lowering the MAX APAP setting to the P95 value ( instead of keeping it at the default 20) it means there is less chance for excessive mask leakage, less noise, and an overall more comfortable therapy.
    I hope you find the lesson enjoyable. Cheers

    Why do patients have no access to their own detailed sleep reports like how Resmed cpap manufacturer could provide? The bmc sleep reports shown on the machine and via PAP Link app are miserably brief, even the email version via Icode. So neither I would advocate nor the sleep doctors in my country would approve the buying of any bmc machines till the BMC company settles the reports issue and return the right of access of personal medical reports to patients. Looking forward to the improvements soon.

      If you don’t use a so clean machine or an ozone cleaner, you shouldn’t have any issues with foam deterioration. That’s what caused the Philips issue to begin with. Also using those cleaners voids your warranty so best to avoid foam issue aside

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Geoff, is your Ramp P lower than you Min APAP? The Ramp P needs to be lower in order to set up a ramp time

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, in the clinical settings (part 3 of the series) You're only setting the max ramp time! It's in part 2 where you actually set the ramp time itself. For example, i could set the max ramp to only 5 min in the clinical settings which would limit the patient's ability to go above 5 min ramp time in their basic patient settings. Remember the clinical settings is designed for the clinician... You as the patient should be able to set up your ramp time length from the basic patient settings (part 2.) Cheers

    I’ve just bought this to replace a CPAP machine. I know my cm of water number. Should I just put it in CPAP mode instead of using it as an APAP machine?

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'day Tom, I would probably suggest using it in Auto but set a Auto Max level a couple of CM above what your CPAP pressure would be. For example if you have a set pressure of 10, set the automax at 12 just to let it have a bit of extra room to move up if the algorithm feels the need. The best thing about auto is that normally you end up with around 30% less average pressure during the night which means less mask leaks, less noise and just overall more comfort. All the best. Take care
