I failed to see any jokes there. A lot of lousy attempts at perspective shift without any insights (e.g. comparing having a sauna to sitting inside a volcano, desperately selling it with squeaky voice and other vocal tricks, is just sloppy and unfunny).

Well, now you know. Putting on an affectation and saying things, any things, is how you make children laugh 100 per cent of the time. Try it. They'll think you're a comedic genius if you'll say whatever in a silly voice. Just put on a tremolo or talk in a squeaky voice, and say "potatoes are brown", and small kids will love it. Adult comedy has its roots in realisations where you see something from a perspective you hadn't yourself thought before. Saying that it is hot in a sauna, is not anything anyone hadn't thought of before.

And I don’t think the crux of the sauna joke was simply that saunas are hot. You’re intentionally looking past the details that make it funny.
The structure of the joke: Saunas are supposed to be relaxing. More like simulating being trapped in a volcano.

I grew up in the 60s and back then the only comedy album we had was Jonathan Winters. I think my friend Robin and I wore that record out, lol. I feel spoiled now to be able to have this much Jim Gaffigan at my fingertips. It gets me through a lot of rough times and for that, I am grateful. If Jim can get through the pandemic with a wife, 5 kids, and still find humor to make us laugh, we’re going to be okay. Thanks Jim.🙏🏻🥰😉

The “fish juce” in iceland is calles lýsi and usually some people take a spoonful of it in the morning. Very few find it good it is supposed to be good for you.

We get the worst thing that could possibly happen as the first thing out of the way each day.
That's why I start each day with a shot of fish oil and a long walk over some Legos while listening to the music of Guðný María Arnþórsdóttir.
At no point can the new day bring anything worse upon me than what I've already done to myself.

@@ruya789 It's oil processed from the liver of cods (I'm not trying to be facetious or anything). Sometimes it's fortified with nutrients, some of which have gotten depleted in the process, such as vitamins A and D. It has Omega 3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA. Adverse effects can occur with overconsumption, buyer beware.
Lots of different kinds of fish oil exist and they are as different as the fish they're processed from

Your bit about reindeer meat reminded me of trips I took to Copenhagen and Oslo. The final night banquet in Oslo included reindeer meat and in Copenhagen venison. When I told my teenage son I had eaten reindeer meat, he said, horrified, "You ate Rudolph??" To which my response was, "Hey, last year I ate Bambi!"

The liquid fish is cod liver oil, tastes shait but its packed with Omega 3, good for the heart not so much for the taste buds.
My grandma was from Norway. She always gave my brother and I cod liver oil pills. I assume that is a form of fish oil...a hold over from the 'old country.'

As a Canadian I can identify with a lot of the winter jokes. Jim, I have an infrared sauna in my bedroom. I assure you no vodka is consumed in it. But my 2 cats come in with me!

fish oil (tran) for breakfast is normal in Norway too. Just a spoonful though, to get vitamins and omega 3.

The cross country skiing one got me 😂 hilarious. And I fully agree. I live in Alaska and people literally cross county ski down my street. I’ve never understood it. But my husband does hunt caribou (reindeer), so we eat that meat all the time 😂

im norwegian and hes right to a certain degree with the thing with Cross country skiing....atleast if your mother is a boomer who is a so called "Friluftsinstruktør" .... :D im gonna let you translate that ;) She made my whole family go on a 12 mile trip with clothes inherited from 3 generations back and old style bindings.....it felt colder than Yakutia :D

Cross country skiing can be really magical and cosy aswell :) especially if you combine it with a bolle and Kakao or Lapskaus and bread

This is the first of your humor I've been exposed to. Funny it happened to be you ripping jokes about my country and my neighbors. It's funny too, which I appreciate a lot. And by Finnish tradition I didn't laugh much (nothing to do with you). Although complaining about an old man wearing nothing but a towel in a sauna is quite amusing as we do it buck ass naked. Meaning that we have all seen at least a few old man dongs/old woman breast in our lives, yet none of us are scared. That's something you could make joke about in the future. If you decide to make more Nordic jokes. Which I hope you will.
