Jim Gaffigan is in a very rare club within the comedy community: He makes people laugh, and he does it without ever relying on vulgarity, or gross images in his act. Jim's talent is observational comedy at its best. Shine on, Jimmy! 🤩
Many years ago, I was lucky enough to work with Jim Gaffigan at the Manchester Comedy Festival at the Buzz Club. What a masterclass. I still smile at his mayonnaise material twenty odd years later.
He wasn't 100% clean back then, I remember his non-TV standup shows in the early 2000s used to have a handful of F-bombs in them, but I think he realized the material was just as good without them.
Watching his career trajectory in reverse is amazing, because his genius was right there at the very start. Everyone is all about Chapelle, Burr and CK, which they should be, but this guy has put his time in and produces

I used my vacation time to get a neccerary operation. When the hospitality cart came around, I bought a post card with the picture of the hospital. I wrote, "Having a great time. Wish you were here. The veil is great, but the food is lousy." and sent it to where I worked. It was on the bulletin board when I returned.
He the 🐐 of comedy. Always funny. Has the talent to make anything hilarious, god love him. Doesn't have to swear so all the family can go see him. Thank you Jim 💕
I think he’s become my favourite purely cause even though I won’t always laugh out loud all the time I enjoy listening to his stories to the point where I know like 3 of his specials by heart😂
Wow, Lol! I can't believe how funny he was and still is.... I burst out laughing a number of times which seems rare to my in my older years. Jim is just a delight, and I hope we have him around for years to come. 😀👍🐰☮
Great comedy delivered with such poise and tact that he makes it seems effortless. Cannot believe this was 23 years ago too! My how time flies.....non-linearly :O)
I love to see a man who doesn’t drink! I’m a woman who doesn’t drink and I can totally relate to ppl’s reactions when you say “I don’t drink”. They look at you like you’re a weirdo 😂
I remember seeing this when I was 12. Never had cable and was at a hotel. Never forgot the “heat” joke. Forgettable joke, but I ended up being a huge fan decades later. I’d typically forget that joke and ever seeing it, but I think my destiny was to love Jim Gaffigan haha.
This was my introduction to stand-up comedy, and what eventually got me hooked. The material is brilliant - and I actually have nostalgia for the dated content (but still find it funny).
I did find it startling when I returned to the Continental U.S. from Guam and I saw all the bottled water on the beverage aisle in the supermarket. All these decades later the trend still continues.
Hot Pockets! Yeah Jim's got a great outlook and delivery that to me rivals the greats like Seinfeld..Carlin..Chappell. ..Murphy..Pryor..Burns..Burle..Marx..Willians..etc..
*Longevity's the hallmark of truly great comedy. This whole routine still holds up 25-years later.* *(Schumer talking about her "San Andreas Fault" will never posses Jim's staying power.)* 🏆
I think why I gravitate to Jim is purely because he has a baseline for his comedy which is “fat” but he’s so varied in the rest of his acts that I never feel like I’m listening to the same thing twice and that alone is incredibly skilled to curate!
Jim Gaffigan is one of the only comedians that doesn’t rely on bad words and also while he cartoonishly exaggerates (no matter how dumb he may sound) can be profound and make the audience resonate lmao he’s a deadpan genius

He killed it here. He's still killing it. One of the best ever.
I was supposed to clean my garage out this morning buuuuuut, here I am watching Gaffigan talking about laziness, lol.
I'm watching him while laying in bed.
I listen while I’m doing the dishes.
laziness well spent 🙌🙌🙌🙌
You can do both. But on headphones.
I was supposed to clean my garage out last year... welcome to the club lol
God bless this guy...having a little anxiety today and I'm forgetting about it. I guess laughter IS the best medicine!
Same here , bless you 💜

Legend of clean comedy.
He wasn't 100% clean back then, I remember his non-TV standup shows in the early 2000s used to have a handful of F-bombs in them, but I think he realized the material was just as good without them.
Well there’s Seinfeld
Agreed…. Clean standup (agreed also w/ Seinfeld) but Jim just cracks me up… both great.
@@gmar7836 He said clean "comedy"
I love Jim Gaffigan! Good, clean straight humor.

I remember seeing this with my mom years ago on a Friday night and I've been a huge fan ever since.
His comedy holds up even years later!😆
Jim Gaffigan use to look like Ed Begley Jr.
Now he looks like Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Brilliant, clean humor all the way through. Jim Gaffigan is a treasure!
I love how casually he kills.
This young Gaffigan kid shows a lot of promise.
I remember staying up way past my bedtime to watch Comedy Central Presents and this one was a favorite ❤
I forgot all about these but that corny jazz and those graphics brought me back to my childhood.
I remember using the "Lifetime Television for Women" joke and cracking up all my 5th grade classmates lol
Do you know what year was this from?
@@oscarzarraga8107 The credits say 2000.
Sneaking into the family room after everyone went to bed just to binge standup comedy, and I remember this one so fondly.
My favorite joke of his is still the one about being at church praying but really thinking about "... did I go to Wendy's twice yesterday?"
Peace be with you, and an extra piece for you

That mayonnaise bit had me dying at work
One of my favorites, he makes comedy fun, not just funny.
Good way of describing him... his lighthearted, riiculous, and silly.

It's cool, that the "heat joke" turned you into.. a fan! 🤓🤣
22 years later and he still looks...translucent

He looks older the younger he is.
At age 5 he had an 80 year old face.
At age 80 he will look 5 years old.
I predict Jim gets married and has five kids

He grew some hair! 🤪 One of the best intelligent comedians ever! & Clean
This special was a formative experience for me. So glad it's on here.
Formative and Jim Gaffigan don't seem congruent. He is like airy and light
"It just so happen you live in the ocean cuz you aint got no job."😂😂😂 This was the first time i ever saw Jim Gaffigan. Been a fan ever since.
Great memories! He's still killing it to this day too.

Jim is just hilarious....
I swear I met him when he was still a commercial writer in Chicago back in the early 2000's. Even though he did this special he wasn't famous yet.
No comedian on the planet could get a laugh from the line "This city has big buildings I like food bye" like this man.
Jim also became a good funny actor on shows and movies.
😁😁😁😁
So funny about the bottled water and Mexican food!
Oh shoot full special TH-cam ???? Jim back ? I'm here for it
This has inspired me to earn more money and buy more hair. Thanks Jim!

it's weird to see him this thin! But this is such a classic special - '6 kids, catholic' gets me everytime lol
