- Hey everyone, just a quickie this time, still super busy with school, did this one in small increments over a couple of months but I like how it turned out! Been a while since I did a direct animation study and I should do more because it's fun!

This is so adorable, the two things I love the most are when he reaches over it looks like you have him purse his lips in excitement and the soft lines in your animation around his face that gently come and go, which I imagine are troublesome to animate!

It's not something that pops up 100% of the time in cases of child abuse obviously. But it IS a common indicator to watch out for.
Children in abusive situations where being deprived of food is a regular occurrence learn to adapt by eating whatever is placed in front of them very quickly.

I think my favourite bit is how he briefly looks away from the camera at the end. It's such a small detail that no-one would notice, or even care if it wasn't there. Jerma didn't really do it in the real version. But it just adds a level of believability, making the animation seem more...human. And given how it had to be a very deliberate decision, just makes it stand out to me as such a great attention to detail.
