The DeLorean landing scene in 1:04 is my favorite in terms of ILMs amazing work to make a seemless landing and dynamic cut between the Deloran model and the real car. For me this is pure genius in a time where computers were in their childhoods and all the effects required hard work to make it look real.
That’s true. If I remember correctly, the magic was the lamp post. That’s where it transitioned from the model to the real car.
They somehow even transfer the wobble from the model to the real car! That attention to detail is amazing!
Absolutely one of the GREATEST movie prop cars.

Yeah, and when seen flying in the 1950s, anyone who sees it will DEFINITELY perceive it as an alien spaceship! The thing is, no automobile manufacturer in 1955 EVER built a car that beared even the smallest resemblance to the Delorean! Because of this, if you were someone who belonged in the 1950s, and you were to encounter a Delorean, whether on the ground or in the air, you would NEVER be able to perceive it as anything other than a spaceship!

I feel Part II had the best version of the DeLorean compared to Part I and Part III.
The part III time machine was kinda pieced together just to be operable with super old tech, I thought that was kinda cool, but it looked goofy as hell. Nothing beats the part II flying model though, best time machine concept ever!

A very rational and very beautiful car. Maybe one of the best pattern of car. And the fact it is made of stainless steel and it should last forever, made it the perfect option for traveling in time, any time, any place.
If there's anything I'd be willing to kill for, it'd be a flying DeLorean.
If i wanted to go anywhere, i’d take this version of the Delorean.

Time Travel Rules I set for myself
1. Only observe don't change history
2. Wear chothes from that time period
3. Only spend 5 mins in the past to prevent any mistakes that would change history
4. If history is changed by mistake travel back and change it back
5. Find a hide out so the time machine does not fall into the wrong hands
6. Use probability machine to make the odds certain that no one finds my hideout

1:06 is just a clean transition from the blue screened model to the actual car.
Using that foreground lamp for the transition! It looks so damn good and frame by frame slick! :D

It's an awesome transition. Only when I played it over again and again did I know that they're switching there! They also seem to have kept the oscillation from the model to the real one somehow!

Did anybody noticed that Marty was allowed to drive the Delorean but never to fly?
Technically, Doc Brown never let Marty drive the Delorean. He drove it out of necessity to in the first movie twice, the first time to escape being shot where he accidentally time traveled and the second to return to his time with the help of Doc Brown. In the second movie Doc picked Marty up and dropped him off whenever the Delorean was used so it was never necessary for him to fly it, so he never got the chance before the hover converters got damaged. It would have been cool to see Marty learn to fly it though.

I recently watched the films remastered in 4K, (looks amazing BTW) and wondered how they did the scene at 0:22 because it's clearly not a miniature model. I think now I see an arm to the right side of the car. They must have had a type of fork lift hidden in the side wall there and used a fiberglass shell of the car or something. Smart!! Nowadays it would probably be bad CGI.
CGI ruins everything, why movies such as this are so much more respected. It's also funny to go back and watch in 4k, I remember seeing BTTF for the first time on Blu Ray and it was like I was watching a whole new movie.
@@nbluth24 Yes, I think I hadn't seen any of the films since VHS 📼 and only had vague memories of what exactly happened. So it felt like seeing them for the first time and they held up well! The soundtracks are awesome too!!
that's the C car, it's made of fiberglass and is being held by wires, Michael J Fox almost got hit by it when one of the wires came loose during filming

She wasn't just a character but also the one who made this entire adventure possible.
Drizzly. A Chevy or a Buick would've worked even though JOHN DELOREAN did work for GM for quite a few number of years before commissioning his own model: the DeLorean!!
It really was, a flying battle chariot, as opposed to a crippled vehicle, as in the other two.

whats even more obvious that the "turbine" housings(these black boxes on the rear) are way to tiny compared to the other scenes
It seems also like whenever it’s landing, the tires no longer have the white Goodyear writing.
Also the tyres don’t fit inside the wheel housing when aligned, particularly the front left. Ah well, we all know it doesn’t fly. Still rather this than cgi! I also like that as it’s descending the door is ajar, ready to open, probably to make the scene slicker as the door locks were electrically controlled, this dummy car prob was missing the electrics and additionally they were notoriously fickle mechanisms anyway which wouldn’t have made for a nice crisp open in time for when the camera dollied over

They’ve built a replica delorean out of fibre glass for the close up flying shots.(for weight reduce and effect purposes) Which isn’t 100% accurate to the actual driving time machine. For the distant flying shots they’ve used miniature models then edited into the film.

When the deloeran starts hovering you can hear the engine going off and when it takes off you can hear it start again so probablly the hovering system doesn't need an engine to work

Watched these back to back recently. The second film is so much worse than the first.
Holden yeah it definitely is. For me the first is the best the 3rd is the second best and part is the worst. Things in part 2 in my opinion just randomly happen

@@jjrj8568 i like the first one too! Its classic somehow...... looks much older than part 2. Even image quality wise. Anyway I tried to watch and enjoy part 3 but just couldn't! Was almost painful to end it. Its so cringe..... the first few minutes in the house where emett wakes up is almost like a bad commedy movie. I totally understand why part 3 gets so many hat on the Internet. First 2 are a must watch classics!
