Its not only about how high someone can sing. Its what you can do within that range. What dynamic range (power), colouring, emotional range, vocal techniques, styles, stage presence determine the greatness of a singer. Floor Jansen has all of that in spades.
I feel you, man. I lost my legs last year and seeing Nightwish was the only good day I had. I spent just about every night watching TH-cam videos of their live performances. Floor is therapy for sure.

Can't use NSAIDs anymore, cause they ruined my kidneys and I'm allergic to opiats, so I'm in constant pain. Can't imagine loosing my legs though 😔 But I know what it's like to loose your health in general. NW is great, so is Floortje. I'm Dutch, 6'1 too and 20 yrs senior, so I can say Floor-tje ('tje' is a diminutive in Dutch), unless she's wearing heels 😁 Suppose you looked into Ayreon as well? Arjen is such a nice guy. A gentle soul, like Floor(tje) and the other members of NW.
Beautiful in so many ways. Floor's production of her notes in mixed belt and timbre is simply unmatched . They are the bulls-eye-goosebump notes. Then on top of all that, she makes it look easy. The gift that keeps on giving.
Absolutely. If you only consider the range, Dimash is the greatest singer hands down. However, the timbre/tone/texture/overtones of Floor's voice makes her performances more pleasing for my ears.
After Forever was a great band , but Floor did good switching to Nightwish .And it seems like her voice is only getting better over all these years .I remember seeing her at Kopspijkers on Dutch tv and almost falling off my chair .She was young and so wildly beautyful .And now all grown up she has become the absolute queen ofv rock She is unbelievable getting all those kids into symfonic metal or rock as we used to call thatv stuff .Love her and I'm 67 now , like a schoolboy .Lol😊
Floor did not switch After Forever for Nightwish After forever broke up in 2009 , she started ReVamp in 2010 she then broke up ReVamp to stay in Nightwish full time as it was too much for her having two bands ... And honestly After Forever is a better band and Floor sang better there than in Nightwish....

So live she has sung to D6 the (E6 was in the studio). So that is Siren range (Watch your boats). The amazing thing is how clear, consistent, and long she can hold those notes. To do this live is blind folded triple somersault with a twist stuff, with no safety net. WOW! The real test of any female singer in their prime is "Savean" in full octave. Sarah Brightman did it live in Vienna. It wasn't perfect but very close. Now that is another whole level above "Floor".
My Sympathies, understanding, hope and best wishes go to all. I have found that I have a better understanding of what it means to suffer what too often comes with age. I too have appreciated more of what I had, try to work out what I can at this stage.
About the lower sounds. What about the growls in the "The greatest show on Earth"? There's a video that shows it is Floor making the sounds not Markko.
What I like about her high notes is that she has a lot of bottom. Usually when singers go that high they lose a lot of fullness but she still has it which is really impressive.

I appreciate for your effort for making this video. Especially u included those vocal coach reactions. However, a lot of notes were wrong. For example 15:42 it's nowhere a C#6. It's a G5 belt. Looks like u used software to detect the notes. They can be quite inaccurate. U may try it with your ears next time. It takes time to identify the notes tho.
I used the wrong clip of the song and it will be deleted soon, sorry. I used a vocal database for the notes and compared them to the piano, was way off on the Noise, though.

It would be interesting to see the same done with Marko. we've all heard him only slightly lower than Tarja and Floor. what were those notes technically? I'd just call them glorious.
The art is not to hit those high notes per se (many women can get into really high notes ) in *head voice*, but to hit those notes in a full *belt*. THAT is the brilliance of Floor (amongst many other vocal traits)
Also to sustain them and make them sound great, and actually singing, those whistling tones are nice and all, but at some point it just becomes pointless.
A lot of this clips are mislabeled. The high note in Dead Boy's Poem is F5, not F♯5, for example. I didn't hear anything close to a G5 in the Alpenglow clip, but she definitely sang it in the Greatest Show clip.

Yea and while other singers sometimes slide into those high notes or sing them maybe a 10th note deeper, she is so dead spot on.
After having a rather sever stroke in 2022, listening to Floor and Nightwish is one of the few joys in life I can still enjoy. They have helped a lot.

Yep. Quite a large difference between C#6 and G5. That's what happens when you use software instead of your ear and a piano.
