Awesome channel! Was contemplating buying this to replace walkway lights at my new house and will definitely buy it, especially since HomeKit Secure Video support was announced. Love the local video storage and no subscription as well. Great review!
That's awesome. Thank you. I didn't know HSV was official announced yet. Can you send me info on it? I know they've said it will come but I've only see the official announcement for the indoor version only. Per their website, the outdoor doesn't have it but maybe it hasn't been updated.
could you please tell me whether there is a way to set another alert notification on an iPhone through the application of the camera? It's too low and unfortunately, if you're sleeping, you won't hear the alert through the app. I'm only given one sound alert which I find it quite ineffective. Is there an additional app or is there a variety of sound alerts on the app? Your prompt reply would be highly appreciated.
Thanks for the video! Great thorough review. I love that it works with HomeKit. When I first saw the video footage, I thought the same thing about the field of vision. I'm glad you explained why it was so narrow. I'm gonna pick one of these up even though it is a little pricey. If I love it, I'll buy more.
Yeah as long as it’s completely under the soffit. I don’t know how water resistant the bottom is. You can open it up and gain access to the micro SD card but it’s a much bigger opening than necessary and it’s possible that water could get in there since it would be upside down. Otherwise I wouldn’t see why you couldn’t mount under a soffit. There’s a setting to flip the image and the mount has a lot range.
Great review Eric. Look forward to seeing this camera gets support for HomeKit Secure Video (hopefully) in the near future. Looks like a solid product.
My netatmo Camera burnt out after 3 years , no light or night vision . Emailed the company in France and they made me pay 55.00 to ship it to them and then gave me a discount on a new one. I wish I never called , I could have just bought something else . Another brand would have been cheaper and just as good . By the way this took Months to resolve !!!!
Hello Eric, great review! I was just wondering what type of smart switch you used and any info on how you connected that to control the light on the camera. Looking to do the same here at my home here in Sweden. All the best // André
Hi Andre, Thanks for watching. I used a ecobee+ for this install but pretty much any homekit smart switch will work. It's very easy to do but you do want to get professional assistance if you don't know what you're doing. Since the switch is not directly hooked to the light and it goes through automations to turn on, there is a delay but in my house it's not to bad. It's going to depend on your network speed and other factors. I had to explain the delay to my family because first they kept hitting the switch on & off thinking it wasn't working, not knowing they just had to wait 3-5 seconds.
Love your reviews. Netatmo Doorbell is now available in NA. Are you reviewing that as well? On a side note, where did you get the little white mounting panel, cut to your siding alignment? I have been looking for something like that in Canada.
I had 2 cameras installed by my contractor and had both "hard-wired" and not as a replacement for any outside light. My problem is I can't get either to come online when trying to set them up using the App on my iPhone. When I show the cameras the QR code, they flash for a second or two, then nothing happens. My phone says "searching for camera" but that's it and I can't get any further. Any ideas?
Make sure you are using the correct side of the card. One side is a reset QR code. If that is not it, make sure your camera is connecting on 2.4GHz. It won't work on 5 GHz.
@@ModernDayTech Yep. HomeKit. I might go for the Eufy - Outdoor Wireless which is only $200 or event eh Philips - Hue Floodlight, which is only 130 (but no camera)
Hey Michael, no it doesn't. I know Apple's website has the dot showing that it does, but it also says the word announced. Usually the word announced is for the product but here they did it for the HKSV. Hopefully soon.
Don't buy this camera, save your money for something else.. I've owned one for a 5 years now and installed one for a neighbor- both have since died (fail to recognize a brand new SD card). The IR cut filter failed to move on mine after 2 years, support said they could help me then flaked out when I said if I shipped the camera back, I would have a hole in the side of my house... can I get an advance shipment of a camera? I suppose not. I lubed up the SD card contacts with dielectric grease; it comes out all green / blue; this must be trapping moisture on the SD card contacts of the camera. My Bosch POE cameras could take a bullet and keep working long after I am gone, the smart features of this camera are not worth the hassle & short lifespan. The live view performance of this camera is also poor (too delayed). I'd be giving my dog a treat for coming in and she would be on the screen running around outside, still. If the company stood behind the product, it might be worth it- as it stands now, pass!

great review. can you add a larger SD card to bump up the memory, if so, what is the max capacity?

@@ModernDayTech Yup, here on Apple’s website under cameras that support HomeKit secure video.

It still shows "announced." It was announced even before I did this video but it still hasn't been enabled. Hopefully soon.
FYI, that connector ("sugar cube") is a typical one we have here in Europe.
Thanks for watching. I've seen them a lot more here in the states recently.

Can the light be mounted on a horizontal surface? I.e., soffit?
Yeah as long as it’s completely under the soffit. I don’t know how water resistant the bottom is. Thanks Shane. Yea it just needs HSV and it’ll be rock hard. Thanks for watching.

How come burnt ? 😅 mine now is 1 year life and seems ok I hope won’t happened next 2 years ..
I like the recent addition of the siren, but I do wish it were more controllable. Great review, Eric!
I agree, getting to siren and light icons in the app need to be easier. Thanks for watching Dustin.
Does IT Switch to color Image when Spotlight Triggers?🤔
Yes, it turns off the night vision when there is enough light.

Is the light and siren exposed to HomeKit?
Light yes, siren no. Thanks for watching
No HSV yet... (still waiting on their doorbell) and the price makes it a non-starter
yeah HSV will be really nice to have. Thanks for checking out the video
$200: definitely.
$250: maybe,
$300: no way.
I have 2 dumb lights on the front, and I am looking for 2 of the smart sensor lights.
Yeah it's tough pill to swallow. I've seen the non-siren model on sale a few times but still pricey. What sensor lights are you looking at? HomeKit?
