Jim Shepard I used a spring before and it allowed the chain tensioner to over extend when starting the bike and when dropping the clutch without perfectly Rev matching. I even had several times that the chain jammed and locked the back wheel up. The spring I used may have not been strong enough. If you figure out a way to use one I would like to know. thanks.
Thanks for the idea, very smart way to solve one of the major problems with these kits. I was thinking about getting a spring loaded chain tensioner with a gear wheel, but looks like this might be a way to solve the problem without putting out$30.00 or so. Thanks again!!!!!!
To save alot of effort simply drill a hole threw the stock chain tensioner and frame. No mor rolling into your spokes. I opted for the aluminum chain tensioner that looks kinda like your setup but a plate goes over the clutch cover. I need to paint it black yet.
Right idea ...longer bolt with nylock nut, 2 large washers on either side of arm and a spring. Touch of oil at pivot occasionally and your good Should be simpler and smoother running, maybe a little smooth shank on the bolt at the pivot
I've been actually doing this since 2008 I went ahead a while back and realize you get a good quality bike and track is a good quality bike believe it or not but some out there are more heavy dutier and set up for the bounce and all that kind of stuff even without you know what they call a suspension you know shocks front or back or both called duel so what I went ahead done was got a higher quality than what comes with the china doll bike and that's it comes with a 410 or 415 so the upgrade due to being wider and more heavier duty is a number 41 and you just get the proper chain cutter you know they call it you know that breaks the chain and you get the proper links and you know pin them back together and you don't leave it airtight you know real steel you leave it with some bounce just enough say quarter inch you don't have to go by half inch flop where you hit a bump or run over a bug or a roadkill and it pop off into your spokes but you don't put a chain tensioner listen to this at all on my bike I've been riding not quite a year yet because I bought it last year of 20 20 Taj BMX it's called a 26-in you know BMX you know bicycle Motocross but I made myself a real off-road motocross bike you know with the two-cycle of 66cc that America calls 80 which it's not you tear them down the measure them you know there's only 66 cubic centimeters but you can get a kit and build them out to the 100 just like you can any other you know car motorcycle in a small engine but I'm proof that my chain don't come off and I've gone according to rear sprocket for torque pull you know 35 miles an hour just like a dirt bike and I got a 26x4 fat tire because of I don't have a shock I redid my front end and I've got the one paper b**** about called the red joint you just keep things adjusted and tightened you can't ride like a motorcycle 150 or 25 miles you have to keep a tightening every time you can think about it because things vibrate loose on something that ain't supposed to be but other than that I'm Michael from Atlanta and I'm a bike builder a fabricator customizer and I'm located as we speak in North Jacksonville and I go back and forth on this bike all the way into New Smyrna DeLand Port Orange Daytona you name it that's my transportation bro I got no license I'm an older man I'm not a smart ass I'm just trying to tell you if you want a ride I can pedal my bike because of the cogs but what I do is I change that out to make my peddling easier on a bike I call live on because I have racks and basket so I've got a heavy duty Motocross bicycle with an add-on motor you know so I changed to a bigger you know I think it's 56 you know when I want to go up a wall give Spider-Man a bottle of water and infuse your no you know but other than that I have no problem you know with going turtle speed in the bicycle lane until I see a cop and I kill switch and I can pedal with no problem they don't usually come over and try to popcorn cook an egg or heat up a cup of coffee by touching my motor to see if it's hot if they didn't catch me they ain't got me that's the secret motorized bicycle riders of all kinds need to know enjoy your riding simply due to a lot of things over the years and 2008 was the world's largest meanest baddest ever on planet Earth financial disaster it's just been one ever ever since now we got this covid-19 the next thing you know they'll be the landing on the moon sideways you'll coming back with moon dust on their feet tracking up Mama's house and that that'll be hell to pay it in cuz she'll whoop anything anything that moves if you wake her up enjoy riding with its legal or not just simply enjoy the ride

No cameras worked the day my customized bicycle setup with a hand-built rear mount tow trailer(favored a stagecoach) all was stolen in broad daylight all up in the very front at the entrance... lemturner rd. N. Jacksonville, fla.

put motor all the way down set chain as short as you can then lift motor till chain is tight set in place much smoother

Just tighten all your nuts and bolts on the chain tensioner. Use a spring on tensioner

It’s nit possible on every bike.. on my bike I can’t remove anymore links but there’s too much slack in the chain without a tensioner
Get a half link ... tensioners are chain guides for people who fail to properly align their drivetrain.
exactly. on my first build I cut the chain along with the bike chain perfectly so I didn't even use a tensione. worked great.
Buy a half link and get rid of the tensioner.
That's what I'm talkin even the heavier wider number 41 chain works the best even without tensioners damn halflings come in handy
