Best instructions out there. The most important step. replace the battery. On my 2013 Explorer the only difference is they fob need to have the buttons towards the rear of the vehicle.
We ordered aftermarket key fobs and we were able to follow this process to program extra fobs for both our 2014 Explorers. Everything works - lock/unlock/remote start/hatch. Done in 15 minutes. TY!!!

Thank you so much! You saved us at least $100 and some time by not taking it to the dealer to reprogram. We were able to reprogram one additional key but then it said we reached the limit. Now we need to figure out how to remove the key that was on the fritz.
This worked on my 2017 Taurus on the first try. Very easy to do. On the 2017 Taurus the programming slot is in the left rear of the console and is vertical, just face the buttons toward the driver's side. Thank you.
I have a 2013 explorer limited. It took me several attempts and finally worked. The two working keys location is important. I placed mine right at the edge of the center console and i did get a message of a 3rd key programmed.

Once I found the slot to place the key and had in facing the correct way it worked perfectly and only took about 30 seconds to complete. In our 2016 Lincoln Navigator the slot was in the very back of the console and you need to place the new fob with the keys facing the back of the vehicle. Thanks for saying @:12 that it won't work if you only have one working fob. Saved me a lot of frustration. I have to bite the bullet and pay the dealer $160 to program a fob, plus the cost of the fob.
For the 2017 Ford Escape Titanium...the manual actually has the steps but the spot for the key is simply in the front console area where you plug your USB into under the AC controls -- just lay them down in there. You have to put both of your working keys in that spot one at a time and turn on and off using the start button and waiting 3 to 5 seconds each time (no unlock / lock like this video). The 3rd key you put in the tray will finally get programmed and work after a few tries but there didn't seem to be any message or indication -- mine just worked after a few attempts. There is another spot on the steering wheel that shows a key with radio signals but that's not where you program the key -- that is where you can start these cars if the battery on your key goes bad. Hope that helps others that are struggling with your 'unique' Ford that doesn't seem to match any of the videos or info out there. You do need both keys which is likely partly for security reasons but also another nice money making scheme in my opinion too. I love the other videos out there from locksmiths that show you need a special device to do this -- you don't. Its really a shame they try to make this so hard for the average person to do since to me a key shouldn't cost a fortune to replace.
Yup, works, but as others have said may need to put the old keys in the console tray close to the new one in the slot. Also, I'd make sure the when you hit the door unlock and lock that the first time of each sequence you hear that hard clank sound you hear when locking or unlocking the car. Hope that helps.
I had two remotes, one good....one inactive. I was at least able, with your instruction, to get the dead one to start the car independently but couldn't get the features to activated. No lock/unlock etc. I'm appreciative just the same and will keep playing around to see if I can figure anything out. Otherwise I suppose I'll have to learn how to use the number code on the door. Not as happy about that for safety/time reasons but at least I now have a backup to start it. Thankyou very much :-)
I did this in my 2013 Ford Flex this works 👍🏾 . My tip put the two key fobs in the arm rest too so it can be near the new fob you’re trying to program.
Agreed. Placing the existing Key fobs inside the center console worked for me. I wasn’t having any luck with the existing key fobs placed in the cup holder.

This worked just as described (I did have two working remotes already). I have a 2017 Expedition Ltd. Backup slot for key fob is in the back of center console. Remote had to be placed in there with buttons facing against the back (not facing out). Engine start/stop button did not flash, nor any message on the console. But key fob was programmed. Tried this on a 2021 Bronco Sport, did not work at all. The programming slot is in a different location, but was still able to find it. Regardless, this didn't work. Is this process unique to Explorer? Does it only work with that exact Key FOB?

2014 Ford C-Max no pocket in the center console (after digging out 5 pounds of stuff in there). There is a spot for the fob right below the wiper lever on the steering column, but putting it there and going these instructions doesn’t work.

Great Video! 2017 Escape key goes in front tray under climate controls. But one issue I not found anywhere else--maybe someone here encountered? I made a third extra key for a 2017 Ford Escape. This procedure worked great. But now when the extra key is used (not a problem with the original keys), on my Ford App I get an Anti-Theft System Fault notification, and the message is for a "Passive Entry Passive Start" notification saying the vehicle will not start. The car does start though. Key works great. But that key always throws that message. Just an annoyance. Anyone else encounter? Find a fix?
I have cmax 2016, it won’t start up today suddenly. When I opened the door, the click click sound appears, like water drops from the roof. The clicks last long time to stop. I tried your instructions “3 buttons on unlock, 1 brake, 3 on locks, 1 brake”, it does not work. Please help how to start up the car. Appreciate!

You may try undoing the car's battery waiting 3 minutes hook it back up and then try reprogramming the remote
