Casaya is the greatest tribe survivor has ever had they're like if the Bluth family from Arrested Development were playing survivor and the best part is that they all chose each other and made the most dysfunctional yet dominant tribe of all time.
Man I love this season. If Survivor was a sitcom it would be Panama, with Casaya as the crazy main family forced to work together while facing their random quirky plotlines, with La Mina as the back-up 'normal' characters there simply to bring some kind of reality to it.
Nobody asked for this, but here is the list of seasons not yet ranked in chronological order: Borneo (1) Amazon (6) Pearl Islands (7) China (15) Micronesia (16) Tocantins (18) Heroes vs Villains (20) Philippines (25) Blood vs Water 1 (27) Cagayan (28) Cambodia (31) Millennials vs Gen X (33) David vs Goliath (37) Winners at War (40)
I personally think that La Mina being so boring helps the season. The interesting contrast between a very dynamic tribe in Casaya I think is better than having 2 dynamic tribes, especially in the way the story plays out.
Whats very interesting is that if La Mina had won the last challenge they would have taken over the season and someone like Nick or Austin would win meaning editing probably wouldn’t show Casaya’s dis functionality so that viewers dont get to attached.
I’m cackling throughout the entire podcast! This season’s just pure comedy gold. By the way: Guatemala already did the whole “Eat or Play” thing one season prior.
The 3-2-1 is also so interesting because it's basically 3 groups of two with Courtney and Cirie, Shane and Aras, and Terry and Danielle. The group of Cirie and Courtney have final fours with both other groups. Cirie wants to get to get Courtney out, the other swing vote. Then she can grab one person from each side to get the three votes. It's literally genius and so impressive that she could get it done
I had this ranked #16. Despite La Mina being quite the dull tribe, I thought this season was still quite entertaining. Casaya was such a crazy tribe that it just made people like Shane and Cirie that much better to watch. I also was a big Terry fan when I first watched, and I still enjoy him as an underdog in this season. The pre-merge wasn't the absolute greatest, but Bob-Dog was an absolute blast while he was on the show. When they hit the merge, it is a bit of a Pagonging early on, but after the Bruce medevac, things really turn up. The Aras vs. Terry rivalry is something I wish we had more of in more modern Survivor seasons, but it was so great to watch especially because Terry ended up playing a huge role in Aras winning. Plus, it allowed someone like Cirie to be more of a genius strategist behind the scenes, and that's something I'm definitely not gonna call a wambulance for. I kinda had a feeling Aras would easily beat Danielle, but I thought Danielle was still a solid player. Overall, I thought this seasons had some good moments and some dull moments, but it was still a very solid season for what it was worth, and just make sure Shane has a log to sit on while he's playing on his piece of wood of a blackberry.
Watching every season live up to season 23, I never would've thought Panama would someday be more popular than All Stars, Vanuatu and especially Palau.
I love the Terry Aras rivalry, Terry kicks his ass but it’s always so close and it feels like he keeps getting closer and closer until he finally beats terry in a reward and then wins immunity. It’s so cool to see him just push through that wall. I think if Aras doesn’t beat him the idea that Terry is unbeatable definitely beats down morale and he wins his way to the end.
No cap: I would’ve voted Daniele at the final 2. Aras to me only survives because of Cirie being amazing, while Daniele had more agency in the later half of the game. Aras seemed patronizing and frustrating, and despite all the hubbub about him being a challenge threat, he wins what, one immunity? He’s not strategic either, so he really doesn’t do much of anything all season except convince Daniele to take him to final 2, which she probably does anyway. At the end of the day I wish Cirie would’ve won, and somehow the two most boring Casaya members made it to the end, but Aras falls really low on my winner rankings
I honestly think if you put Austin or Nick on Casaya instead of Aras they to would have easily won and Aras would have gone out in there spots had he been on la mina.
@@danieln.9135 It depends how well Austin/Nick get along with Cirie. Most of Aras’ longevity comes from Cirie helping him out, so they’d need to have a similar bond with Cirie.
Neither Aras or Danielle deserved to win this season. They were the worst final two since Brian and Clay of 'Thailand'. Aras' personality really rubs me the wrong way. It just comes across as very deceitful and arrogant. He got lucky that the final immunity challenge was unfair to Terry Deitz, so Danielle could take him to the end. He never made any big moves at all and had 9 votes cast against him prior to the final tribal council. Danielle was also a lazy coattail rider.
Danielle was an awful player and backstabbed Terry for no reason at all, after he taught her how to make fire, which is the only reason she even survived the F4 fire duel with Cirie. And his thanks is being pointlessly and stupidly backstabbed by Danielle, just to go against Aras who she knew she had no shot against.
I agree but it's my understanding that Danielle did very little around camp and that caused animosity among the jury so they liked aras more so that's why he won
i actually liked Courtney in this season, tho i would hate her now because she became a rich yacht enthusiast, and those are the most boring kinds of people
I would rather sit through a marathon of the 'Transformers' films than rewatch this season again. It is at the bottom or at least near that area in my ranking of the seasons. It started off bad and ended with an awful final two and winner.
'Panama' started off very disappointing and it ended on a very bad note. This was also the first 'Survivor' season not to place in the top 10 most-watched shows on broadcast television. IMHO 'Panama' is just like 'Nicaragua'. Both seasons were popularity contests and they made a gigantic blunder at the start by splitting the tribes up by age. Even when they tried to fix that mistake in the second episode of 'Panama' it was already too late. Also, what Aras did to Melinda in that episode was showing no class. It was exactly like what Jamie Newton did in the first individual immunity challenge of 'Guatemala'. At least Jamie admitted that what he did was wrong and he got his comeuppance later, but Aras never did. In the movie 'Oz the Great and Powerful', which was released just months before Aras' second season 'Blood vs. Water' aired, Mila Kunis' character called James Franco's character "a deceitful, selfish, and extremely mortal man." Those words describe Aras perfectly and I've gotten multiple thumbs up on videos where I've said those words are exactly what Aras is. Aras is a forgettable and unlikeable winner. His win was an even bigger fluke than Chris Underwood's. At least Chris made huge moves when he returned to the game, but Aras didn't make any throughout the season. Someone with 9 votes cast against them prior to the final tribal council is not a deserving winner IMHO. Another reason why his win is a fluke is due to the fact that the final immunity challenge was very unfair to Terry Deitz. There was virtually a 0% chance that Deitz would've won it. Aras and Danielle were the worst final two since Brian and Clay of 'Thailand'. Neither one of them had any reason to be brought back for future seasons. If any good came from their returns, it's that their torches were finally snuffed when that should've happened in their initial season. They are also largely responsible for why most seasons that followed theirs had a final 3 instead of a final 2. I also don't get the love for Shane Powers at all. His insanity is on the same level as Phillip Sheppard's.
I agree that it's an awful season because it made the same mistake as 'Nicaragua' did by dividing the tribes up by age at the start and like that season it was also a popularity contest. However, Aras is not great at all. He is a very forgettable, unlikable, and undeserving winner. Plus, he had 9 votes cast against him prior to the tribal council and never made any big moves at all. Casaya is arguably one of the most entertaining tribes in Survivor history! Props to Aras and Cirie for managing these massive personalities.
I completely agree, they were fun to watch!

honestly the camera cutting to La Mina just sleeping away after all of the chaos in Casaya made me crack up
My favorite panel so far. The girls are amazing.
The reason i watch survivor is because of Cirie Fields. Her debut apperance was the best
The Bruce medievac is one of my all time favorite episodes ever. Love Panama so much! So glad to see it this high.

Lindsay and Jess are the best duo on the panel out of every season so far! They are both extremely entertaining.

Though it’s never going to happen, i would love to see misty as a curve ball returnee.
I stan Nick Stanbury. And his final words are great because of how random they are, not because they're inspirational.
The Casaya 6 is the Community study group from the Darkest timeline. I wonder if there would ever be a paintball challenge on survivor…
We love a Jessica Sterling and Lindsay Wilson moment! Great job everyone
Haven't watched this season but all i need to know apparently: cirie
The Eat or Compete happened in Guatemala at the merge challenge - Steph, Jamie, Rafe, and Lydia ate and Jamie infamously caused a lot of disdain.
I always felt like Jeff made such a big deal about having someone not get a hug vs someone going to exile like I feel like its the same thing lol.
1st comment 2 weeks in a row!!!! Anyway I could be led on where to watch Australian Survivor
Idk about australian survivor but you can dm @shannongaitz on Twitter or instagram for links to South African Survivor that's airing rn
