Have I refused to watch Island of the Idols, Thailand, and HHH? Yes. Am I watching the full RHAP episodes of each of those seasons MULTIPLE TIMES because Chappell is there? Yes.
I remember at the 34 reunion they did a preview for 35 and the first words flashing on the screen are “heroes” “vs” and I freaked out like OMG HEROES VS VILLAINS 2…. And then it wasn’t lmao
Honestly a great cast and I don't even dislike the abundance of idols. The only problem is the fire making challenge. Not that it existed but that THEY DIDNT TELL THEM!!!
@@gqprince2 Nah, Chrissy wins cause while they didn’t like her she did play a great game, Devon played well and was likable but a lot of that jury didn’t really respect his game, and Ryan I mean I liked Ryan and I think he played a good game and got to the end because there were bigger threats than him and you could argue he played the best social game of those 3, it’s just Ryan made some mistakes that could have been avoided but he still played a great 3rd place game in my opinion
@@gqprince2 No I don’t think so, I listened to the jury’s post game press and they liked Devon but they didn’t think his game was fantastic so they would have given Chrissy votes even though they didn’t like her she still played a great game. Devon does get votes but the vote is probably 6-2 or 5-3
Around 40:00 - I understand the idea of not being able to play idols at every tribal council. But the issue I would have with that is players can win individual immunity challenges many times in a row (which has obviously been allowed every single season). It would feel like a double standard is being placed on finding idols compared to winning individual immunity challenges. I’d rather idols be valid only to the final 6 instead as was the case in Gabon, Samoa, Heroes vs. Villains, and Nicaragua.
According to Russell Hantz's Top 100 Greatest Survivor Players Mike is #37 while Ben is #73 so that kind of tells you which winning game is respected more. Which is harder, finding idols to get to the finale or winning immunity each time? Plus of course fire making debuting for Ben absolutely hurts his win.
@@gregoryfuller9736 No it wasn't. Only Russell was a former player. The others who made a list were Russell's editor (forgot his name) and Phil & Alexa from The Survivor Specialists TH-cam channel.
i feel like this season gets scrwed over by the finale but otherwise this season was pretty dang ok but i refuse to beleve that south pacific is better then this season
I rewatched this season recently and actually found it extremely enjoyable and exciting. It was very fun and crazy. The firemaking twist was thrown upon the players last minute which I didn't like but overall I love the season. I wanted Chrissy or Devon to win but I think it gets a lot of hate even though overall its a very enjoyable season.
Maybe the best Wandoff entry (in the tune of Like a Virgin): "Is that an idol in your pants? Or are you happy to see me? This body runs on Cole, not gasoline."
There are so many people from this season I want on another season. Roark, Devon, Ashley, Jessica, and Chrissy definitely. I wouldn't be pissed to see Doctor Mike or Lauren. I'm not high on Ali and Desi like many people are.
Devon or Chrissy should’ve won the season. I hate the final 4 fire making challenge. Winning the final immunity challenge is less meaningless because of this. Nick is the only one who won the final immunity and eventually won it all in this final 4 fire making challenge era.
Final 4 firemaking this season robbed us of a great final 3. Chrissy/Ryan/Devon would have been one for the ages; I think each of them played a different game from the others and would have gotten votes.
Firemaking is just simply not as interesting as a straight forward final four vote. It’s the culmination of everything that’s happened up to that point in the season, the relationships at play, the players performance throughout the show. Maybe it results in a tied vote which gives us a potential exciting fire-making tiebreaker as there’s ultimately two players who make the decision to send the other two into fire based on their own games too, it’s not just the one person who has a choice. But maybe, and usually, it doesn’t and there’s a clear threat to win the game that has to go out for the other three to stand a chance at FTC. I get it, they want there to be a chance for a dominant player to make it to FTC in the case they flub an immunity or something, but that’s just not the game of Survivor and as we see with later seasons, players just adjust and take the player out even earlier as was the case with Ricard on 41. He probably would’ve been fifth anyway but maybe not, the other players might want to keep him an extra round to secure their spot at FTC by having a clear target at the final four tribal; a la Hannah in MvGX. A risky move as they could clutch the immunity challenge but that’s what makes it exciting, there’s nothing exciting about the players unanimously agreeing that they can’t let a player get to final four or they could run away with it so they get sniped fifth or six, like Ricard was.
I think this is a pretty well-placed season. It was exciting to watch Ben play the game. But he was sort of an underwhelming winner and I did not enjoy him in season 40. And overall I feel like if I were to show somebody a season of Survivor this would be pretty low on my list. Well done.
This season ranks #24 for me. This season can easily be classified as a World Apart with a better cast. The pre-merge has some interesting moments, and I think some of those moments definitely lead to what happens at the merge. In my opinion though, this season shows the problem with modern Survivor. TOO MANY TWISTS!!! All the idols and advantages throughout the game just make the game too advantage and idol focused, and I feel like sometimes you can't reward the proper winner because the advantages give someone else the win. I do applaud Ben for finding all those idols, but the timing of the Final 4 fire making challenge twist couldn't have come at a worse time. I see why you would put that twist in there, because most final 4 boots in more recent seasons have been quite set in stone, but this just robs us of a better winner for this season. I will say though, Ben's final 5 idol play at tribal was pretty fun to watch, because Chrissy's arrogance got the best of her there. The arrogance from multiple people in this season hurts it even though the strategy is somewhat solid. The amount of twists and advantages, though, just hurt this season.
Not true, Worlds Apart is really underrated and people overreact about a few comments that don’t even affect the storyline, unlike the Dan and Kellee incident in IotI
I think with this week and last week I’m discovering that I’m a fan of the “1 vs everyone” kind of game. I loved it when Fabio made it to the Final 3, and I loved it here with Ben. I guess I just enjoy seeing majority alliances that don’t get what they want, especially when they think they’ve got it in the bag. If there’s one thing everyone in this season had, it’s arrogance. They all thought they were going to win, and that nothing could change it. Even the better players like Chrissy and Devon, for as good as they were, were way too calm about Ben searching for the idol. They went to sleep while Ben looked for the idol! How can you do that when $1 million is on the line? That’s why I have no issue with how Ben got to the Final 4. He was the only person who seemed like they were still playing the game, while everyone else sat around and acted like him leaving was inevitable. I don’t even hate the fire twist as a concept, but I’ll admit that the season’s biggest issue was revealing the twist at Final 4. That should have been done way sooner and was a bit unfair. But as someone who was rooting for Ben (as an underdog and because he had an easy story to get behind), the issues many people have with the season were easy for me to look past, and I thought the season as a whole was pretty good. 💣Ben Bomb💣
I think this season only ranks this low because of how much production interfered and made it so blatantly obvious how much they wanted Ben to win. Chrissy should have won let's be honest no offense to Ben who I don't dislike as much as some people do.
"Vuku isn't even on this season!" => lol, I can confidently say that I don't remember any tribe names beyond Philippines. At this point, we've gotten rid of the rites of passage and loads of other things, just call them red team, blue team, merge tribe, blowfish. Doesn't matter.
@@Klamzzzz I'm a massive Ethan fan, the season had the best rewards in 40 seasons of the show from Lex delivering hiv/aids supplies to a children's hospital, to Big Tom and Lex going on a hot air balloon and drinking among hippos, and Ethan playing hackysack with some children.
