@drunkduck overrated in the sense that it seems to always garner more love and attention compared to the F50. Just because it was the faster car on the track doesn't mean it's the better car. I always felt the F50 never gets the respect it deserves in comparison. Then there's the SOUND and looks. Which in my opinion the F50 wins that hands down. Just my 2 cents.
I share the same sentiments, this was my poster car as a child. From what I understand though, on the race track the f40 is more "fun". But the F50 is King of the dream cars from my childhood.
I'm nearly the same age as you Tim (32). And I had a F40 poster on my wall. These car are true works of art and I'm so happy to have grown up in the golden age of automobiles. The 90s will never be repeated.
Really? Maybe driving it thru the mountains of North Carolina might be better than going from stop light to another intersection then getting stuck behind an old woman in a Kia... This is surely a form of torture for that poor car!
I wanted to express my admiration for Tim. I have been following him since his very first videos and nowadays I struggle staying focused throughout the duration of his videos. Yes, new cars, new destinations but pretty much the same Shmee. And that's great. He is one of the pioneers of automotive TH-cam. But it is simply admirable that he has been doing this non-stop for all these years without losing his energy and quality. Respect.
Bought my son one back in 1998, he loved that car!! he was 8 at the time and it was a 1/10th scale, now at 27 years old he drives a 10year old Peugeot 208 and loves that too ;).. excellent vid again Tim..
You lucky guy! What I wouldn't give to be able to drive the legendary Ferrari F50. To me it will always be one of my most favorite Ferraris ever made. It's absolutely spectacular. I love it!

This has also been my #1 dream car since I was about 7 years old. The F50 was my first ever model car my dad bought me as a kid around the time it had just been released.
Only one I ever saw in person was at Watkins Glen around 2005. I was at the top of the grandstand at the top of the "S" turn and took a break to look around. Up pulls a black F50, top removed, and out steps this stunning looking black haired woman dressed in all black except for a deep red tie around her hat brim. WOW! She knew how to look, she knew how to walk, and best of all, she knew what to drive! I've never been without a camera since that time.
I remember my first ever racing video game was Project Gotham, the first one and the F50 was the cover car, I remember just racing non stop so I could unlock it haha, TH-cam never really existed back then so I could never imagine getting to watch a full review and drive of the real thing, the True poster car. Awesome video Tim.

The final f50 also has the yellow pinstripe as well. The only difference is the last f50 has all the signatures of those that built it. It to was in America, though I'm not sure if it is still here. My favorite Ferrari of all time, and the first investment I would make if I hit the Lotto!!!

I still remember seeing one of these in city traffic one Saturday night. About 16 or 17 years ago. I just knew it was a Ferrari, but didn't know it was this rare or special at the time.
... I have one of those F50 Momo Steering wheels (I originally ordered from a Ferrari Dealer), I had it fitted to my Jap import Toyota MR2 Supercharger, with a quick detach hub!).

Nope, a number of aftermarket parts, on her cusco/Cobra etc etc. She was a little go-kart. She was magazine featured. There starting the fetch ok money now. Not biting kid.

@@c.s.charles2102 Well, ya gota remember, his is of that generation who loved geometric styled cars. The F50 is polar opposite of that design language. Now.. that said, i would say that back in the 90's when companies explored that Rounded off (kidney oval) theme, few created shapes that worked well with one another, especially when flanked by more geometric forms, Often coming across more Bug-eyed in their looks than anything. The F50 worked, so did the F360. but the F360 didnt work as well.

However, I turned seven in 1995 and didn't get my first F50 Hotwheel car until I was nine, so for all I know, he may have been right that most people thought it was ugly, but I doubt it.
Just forgot to mention that the car's engine can be tuned to the same power as the F50 GT1 without any mechanical engine modification, just by adjusting compression, air intake and exhaust, thus increasing the top speed to over 380km / h! Just a curiosity that most people do not know, but other than that, another great video !!
@@Andino. , the Porsche Carrera GT story was a bit different. Its engine was conceived for racing purposes in mind right from the start but it never made its way in any race car. The F50 , on the other hand , has a slightly modified 1990 F.1 engine. The Montreal engine is from the Alfa 33 competion car. Only the displacement is a bit different . However , you're still probably right to say that the Carrera GT has effectively a racing engine.
I'm feeling that, by the time goes by, the F50 is getting the apprecciation and attention it deserve. I mean, for decades, the F40 was the best, no matter what, and i remember that when the F50 came out there wasn't all that hype, in fact, the F40 was still racing! Maybe it's time for the queen to retire and let the princess rule.

When I was walking through the tunnel in Monaco many years ago a F50 come through. What a sound, I will never forget it.
I owned this car, drove it all day, and enjoyed every moment of it... in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2.
I think driving it in Forza Horizon is the best gaming experience one can get for the F50.

The F50 is only the second production car to actually mount a real racing engine (just slightly modified). The first was the Alfa Romeo Montreal.
