Thanks for not being disgusted by this stuff, its offering when men act like periods, a natural body thing, is disgusting. I get blood and stuff can be gross but fr? Haha. Thanks bud

We need to get these in poorer countries where young girls and women don't have access to pads and tampons, ASAP!! It would be so cost effective and would allow girls who don't have access to tampons and pads to actually go to school when they'd otherwise have to stay home. And yes, that's a real thing. Millions of girls have to stay home while on their period because they don't have access to tampons or pads.
Brianna Gordy a lot of people could be religious and not believe touching yourself down there like that (even though it's not a sexual act) until marriage.
Most poor countries also have backwards views on virginity, and include using tampons as something that would make an unmarried girl lose her virginity and be unclean. This could be very dangerous for women to use in those societies unfortunately, and we are a long ways off before these views change enough to even allow women to use tampons safely without the persecution from their society.
Your comment is out of place.... Briana is just raising an issue which is true for plenty of girls around the world... especially in the poorest countries from Africa... She is not being racist nor trying to be diminishing in any way and you are... Please inform yourself before making a fool of yourself "African Queen"...
Forget the uncomfortable feeling of a damp pad especially on those hot day or the constantly stress of it leaking. Cup is a rescuer. I don't even have to worry if my period comes on my vacation or an important day. I literally forgot that i was on my period sometimes. The only down is I'm a small girl so even the smallest cups stretch me out a bit. And taking it out is a bit messy for those who are grossed out by blood or their own period blood but it's better than holding a dirty pad which looks gross and feel gross.
@@lovebug1180 Many women don't experience obvious/annoying/painful symptoms for their entire periods. Mine are 6-7 days and I have cramps/bloating/backpain/clot expulsion symptoms for only days 2-4. The other three days are typically much more mild symptom-wise beyond the bleeding.
+Put A Cup In It I tried to use the cup but it hurt and it didn't go all the way in I ditched it then used a pad but I want to learn how to use it can you please help me?
+Vanya Ahmed I'm not experienced with cups, but my gynecologist told me that, most of the time, the reason someone experiences pain while inserting something (i.e.: a tampon or cup) is that they are usually inserting it straight up instead of up and back. So, I usually just pull back a little, then advance once again when I feel pressure upon inserting a tampon. I imagine the same will work with cups.
The best part, no smell or discomfort like with pads and tampons. Me, for years I suffered from irritation from pads(maybe the ingredients), and then years later I suffered something similar with tampon and the string. Constant irritation where the string was, the painful pulling out(especially if the tampon was a bit dry), I tried all types and brands. And then I went on a journey to simplify my life and purchase items with the least amount of ingredients possible. I finally ran into the cup. Just ONE INGREDIENT: Silicone. When I'm wearing it, I get zero irritation. If I position it just right, I don't feel I'm wearing it AT ALL, not even the stem, which is considerably bigger than a tampon string. Once you become more familiar with the cup(after a few periods) it becomes a breeze to do the process of removing, cleaning, and reinsertion. NEVER looking back. And if you're worried about a leak the first few uses, wear a panty liner to ease your mind. I wasted many panty liners. Lol Also, something we don't usually think about. Tampons absorb our much needed feminine bodily fluids. The fluids we need to protect the lining in our vagina. The cup doesn't absorb our precious bodily fluids, it simply collects the excess. Silicone also means less bacteria are absorbed, unlike the absorbing power of tampons. Good luck ladies.
i dont think i can wear the cup. it looks like it will hurt me lol. i cant even put tampon inside because it hurt!! and the cup looks bigger than tampom. i prefer cloth pad...
It may seem crazy to some, but I’m only 11, and I’m on my SECOND period. I tried a cup because I had to go on a 10 straight drive, and I love them! A bit hard to insert, at first, but plenty of pros over cons! ❤️
I tried using mine for the first time yesterday and I can't seem to push it in. I don't know it hurts a little so I'm really scared to push it any further. Also, I'm worried I'm shoving it up in the wrong hole? If that makes sense. I feel uncomfortable even trying to put my finger up there but I'm willing to give the cup a try. Please help me🥺
Thank God for you guys. This made the perfect explanation for my daughter. It’s so hard to explain but this diagram/model was everything we needed. I am so glad she will not have to go through what I did in life every time she menstruates. Health teachers should introduce this to students.
Hi, very informative video 👍. I have a question, I have been using the Eva cup large for about a year now, and every time it leaks a lot, even on my light days. I am also beginning to go to the gym. I am not sure if it leaks because I may have strong muscles down there and the cup is being crushed? I also have a very high cervix. Could you recommend a cup for me based on this info? Thanks!
Abby Sprankle I think you should sit down with your mother and discuss with her why you want to try them. Show her some of the videos you have been watching here on TH-cam and start with one of the less expensive ones that is recommended for your body so she doesn't feel she is wasting money. Of course you could always ask grandma 😉grandmas buy their grandkids anything. I am trying to get my 13 year old to start considering a cup. Maybe now with summer coming up and tampons being used more frequently she will be more open to it. But I'm going to wear her down someday soon!
It was definitely weird when I decided I would try it. But seriously, once it is in there properly you cant even feel it, and it affords so much more freedom than pads do. Not that I feel like going to the beach while I am menstruating haha, but if it came up that I needed to be there, it would not be a problem at all. It is hard to describe. I use the diva cup, and since I have started I just want to share how much of a game changer it is with everyone!
Menstural cups have changed the period game. Periods are no longer a monthly hassle but just another step in my day! I love it. Wish I knew about them in high school.
Rakhila Eila Ibildayeva + I love to feel clean at all times but I'm gonna consider trying these. Which cups would you recommend? Cups will save money because tampons get expensive.
Christina Rutherford i only used one kind because where i am, the cups are not easily available. Had to ask a friend to bring one from the States. That kind being unspillable Femmycycle regular. I have nothing to compare with obviously, but i think the fold could have been thinner on this one. The fold is the only thing that I have a problem with since I make a C fold. Can't seem to get the other folds work for me as well. Otherwise, welcome to the family!
I love how informative and mature she is whilst explaining everything. Other videos I've watched weren't as well done as this one. Most of the women js laughed through the videos or acted drunk. Thanks for a greatly insightful video.
Best thing ive ever done! Ive always been super heavy and would leak though tampons all the time, now i use a cup, i never leak and my cramps are actually less intense! 100%reccomend to every woman!
I have used the Diva Cup for 12 years now, I would NEVER go back to pads or tampons. I wish this video had been out back then though! This was so thorough and easy to understand! Thank you so much! To anyone who is scared of the thought of this, honestly, it's so much more convenient and easier than you think. You'll save tons of money too not buying pads or tampons every month!
Switching to lunette cup was best decision ever, goodbye tampons!! The Cup doesn't leak, can be used 12h straight without cleaning, comfortable, doesn't show anywhere, saves environment...what else could you ask for?
Thank you for the information! I switched about 2 years ago, and honestly, I love my diva cup. It was scary at first, but I got used to it super quickly. Just make sure you watch a video like this to talk to through it
Hey! I bought my first cup about a month ago, I've already had my period so I thought I'd share my experience as a first time user. Now, ever since my first period, when I was about 11 ( I'm 20 now), I've only used tampons so the thought of a menstrual cup was scaring however it wasn't terrifying. The first time I put it in it took some time and some tries because I couldn't find the right fold for me or once inside it wouldn't open... But I persevered and I can actually say it's way better than tampons, so don't worry if you don't get it right in your first attempt, you'll get the hang of it just keep trying. I have to admit at first I was really worried about how messy the hole process was going to be, but to my surprise it wasn't that horrible specially if you change it at home where you have a place to clean it. Another concern I had was getting it out, turns out all you have to do, if you can't reach, is push like you do when you poop. That makes the cup go down so you can reach with your fingers and break the seal. One last thing, in case anyone is interested, since I'm from Uruguay and we don't have these kind of products here I bought mine on Amazon. I didn't have any knowledge, and I still don't, about brands so I bought the dutchess cup and it's working pretty well. I hope this was helpful ☺️
Y'all! These cups are THE BEST. They are the most environmentally friendly, cheapest and healthiest Option for your period! I always had Trouble with even the small tampons but not with the cup!
Jessica Baamonde that's why it's very important to know your body before you buy a cup. Measure your cervix, understand your flow, figure out if your bladder is weak or not, etc. Don't just buy a cup because it's popular, buy a cup because you think that cup will work for your body. Research is the most important thing. It's one of the best investments for many women once you figure it out
BPA free cups are available. Also, unless you use 100% organic pads and tampons (which are slightly expensive) you're getting direct contact with harsh chemicals every time you wear a commercial tampon or pad. wellnessmama.com/25415/problem-with-pads-tampons/
It took me almost 2 days to get the hang of it and even some help from my husband 😅 but believe me IT’S A GAME CHANGER I would never go back to pads or tampons. It’s worth it, you don’t even remember you’re bleeding sometimes, you should try it! 🙂
It's smaller than a p and much smaller than a baby, so it's nothing your body can't handle. I think it's worthwhile getting comfortable with yourself because it's hard to be scared of or embarrassed by something that you're super familiar with and understand well.
It can definitely be intimidating at first, but I think that comes from it being so different from other options. They are so comfortable - it's sort of hard to imagine without trying it.
i understand the people who are scared for using a cup for a first time, but trust me as a person who has been using it for years, it's a way better alternative, u spend less money, you're way less smelly and messy, u don't have to worry about running out of pads, and it doesn't hurt at all if u do it properly ! it's like riding a bike, it's been very easy for me lately and i just do it in 1 2 3
I share this video anytime I see a woman on fb who is worried about how it will fit in there or if they are worried about how it works. Thank you soooo much for creating this!
I actually find these so much easier and comfiest to insert than tampons! Firstly, because you can apply lube or I find water enough lubrication. And also, they're soft and smooth- so they mood better to your shape and don't feel rough against you.
Not sure why? They are awesome. There are so many harmful chemicals in tampons and pads. I love my menstrual cup. And in fact I've never met or talked to anyone that has tried one that didn't.
Omg thank you so much for the practical vid and kind explanation sis!! This is perfectly what I needed aft 3 times of bloody, scary, uncomfortable and painful trial with scream and anger. It was worthy watching to understand my sensitive and stubborn cervix buddy and overcome fears of stirring her while we have nvr faced each one directly before. I feel like I will be able to respect my body and mind more by using menstrual cup as this whole process do remind my with the fact that my vagina is purely for me and part of myself not only for a fulfilment of someone else’s sexual amusement or birth. Thank you sis for encouraging me to try it again and I’m gonna definitely practice more and be familiar w using my cup!
+Ally Greyson how is this hygienic if it needs to be removed and could cause spillage? Just trying to get as much information as I can, as I am thinking of switching.
As you would with pads or tampons, you can just take it out while on the toilet, but even then, I have never spilled the blood while taking it out. You shouldn't be afraid of it going in too deep cuz vaginas aren't fathomless, so you'll always find it, and the stem is there so you can pull it down before taking it out.
Bruh I'm tryna do this in a few minutes and it got me hella anxious. Scrolling thru the comments, I realize I'm not the only girl nervous to put things in the cooch 😂
For all those scared or worried about the cup, don't be, it takes a lot of practice to get the hang of it. Also, no comparison to a tampon, the application method is similar but the feel is quite different and not as unpleasant, the cup doesn't absorb all fluid, just your blood, so no dry feeling. But even if you don't get the hang of it or are just too scared to try in the first place, at least consider reusable cotton pads. Better for your body (no unnecessary chemicals for "perfume"), better for the environment and better for your pocket in the long run. Hope I helped!
I literally spent two hours last night trying to put the damn thing in. I bought the exact same Lily cup as the one in the video and tried every fold. The only one with any degree of success was the fold shown in this video since the end that goes in first is the smallest of all the different folds. Even with that, I could only get the opening barely inside and never any farther. (And I believe I was sufficiently relaxed.) It was uunnnbeelieeevably difficult to keep a grip on the cup as I was trying to push it in. My hand was on the verge of cramping just trying to keep the folded shape in place while also trying to push it in. Most frustrating two hours of my life. I was about ready to hurl the cup at the wall. What I don't get is how in the world people get that weird pointed edge inside! I'm talking about the point below the top edge and above the base. How does that not hurt putting something jagged like that inside?! But clearly everyone else is managing to do it but I can't uggggghhhhh!!! I reeeally wanna switch to cups for multiple reasons, but unfortunately as of now, tampons are proving to be muchhhh easier since they're a uniform cylindrical shape that just slide right in no problem. I'm gonna practice again, but I'm afraid I'll just never get the hang of it. Edit: Guess I gotta eat my words! (and couldn't be happier about it) I just got it in!!! After many unsuccessful folds yet again, I went back to the punch fold and was miraculously able to get it in. Turns out I had to really twist and turn and shimmy it in there with both hands and put in the jagged end at an angle. Unfortunately, no idea if the positioning is correct (if the taller rim is on the "bottom" and the shorter rim is on the "top") or if it's even fully open (can't fit another finger in there to check). Definitely anticipating some leakage bc of that. But YO I'm just happy I got it in at all. Annnd later still is the obstacle of being able to get it out...
@@tabithademelo1809 Did it work? I found even when I was able to get it in, it still didn't fully open even when I pinch all around the base like it tells you to. No matter what I do it doesn't fully open, so I have to deal with a lot of leakage. If you haven't tried, wetting the cup with water will act as a sort of lube which will make it easier to insert, and you gotta really twist and push at the same time. I thought it would never work for me but I eventually got it!
lezzlie Lol First I push like I’m trying to have a bowel movement so I can get a grip on the stem and keep pushing while I wiggle it out further. Eventually I get enough of a grip on the base of the cup so I can pinch it between my fingers. I flatten the base so the cup’s no longer suctioned in there like a vacuum, and you should feel it happen when it kind of pops inside you indicating it’s no longer locked in there by suction. At least I do. Then I just continue wiggling it and pulling it out, all while pushing out with my inner muscles. Getting it out is easier for me than putting it in by far.
I have done extensive research lol and yet i am so nervous to try it because i cant even get one finger inside me let alone two to even pinch and grab the base.. but one thing i suggest with the punch down fold and the sharpest widest part is to insert it sideways so it doesnt scratch your urethra area or bottom, it will be sideways like towards your leg
One thing I really recommend is to be confident with yourself and to know yourself. You should not be afraid to put your fingers inside you or stuff. If you are ashamed of things like sex, masturbation etc - dont be! Put your fingers there and check it out! It will be easier for you to put you cup and to know yourself!
Bro I'm keeping with pads I'm I the only one who is scared of wearing a tampon or a diva cup????? Im 16 & I swear I'm terrified of putting something in there it's just terrifying just thinking about it Shout out to all the girls who are younger than me & do wear tampons and diva cups💪 Your girl here is so scared 😂😂🤦♀️

This is a great clip. . I grew up on pads n tampons.. now that I'm a mom of three teenage girls, we need to make the switch, just in savings alone is a bonus... So we will be watch this on the big screen, because I'm just going to assume my girls know nothing about these cups, and you calm voice makes it so comfortable to watch. .thank you.
I use it as it takes some getting used to. I used it last week and it was quite interesting when I pulled it out the first time. I like this process because it saved me from buying so many pads.
I was hella scared to use it, but at the same time, I was so sick with the irritation from the pad. I hate the smell and the waste after using it. I did research on cup for a year. Hesitation was my biggest enemy. I have been using this for a year now. My best decision ever. Now I'm not afraid to swim in any days of my period. It is a life changing product. No more itchy drama from smelly pad.
I'm a guy and this is the first time I've ever heard of this, i found it from FB from a friend posting what cup she uses and I said to myself wtf is this??..lol Let me ask a lame question. When a woman wears a tampon or pad and she is active meaning jumping or doing any type of physical work out the fluids are absorbed. But with this cup, it seems like it just collects to me, which to me looks like if I had a small glass filled with water and started moving about the water would eventually start to spill out, no? Note that I'm genuinely asking because this seems like it would be messier and more problematic if someone is moving about or other such things? If these questions are silly just chaulk it up to me being a guy and no one I know has ever mentioned these cups. My wife uses the standard tampons/pads.
There are pretty much no silly questions here. We recognize that this is often a totally new concept for people - and we were there once too. The silicone cup creates a little bit of a seal with the vaginal walls. Sort of like putting a lid on the cup. Jump, run, cartwheel, etc. it all stays in. It's actually less messy when used properly because the moisture in tampons can travel down the string as well :\
The edge of the cup slightly suctions itself to the vaginal wall, forming a leak tight seal. When inserted correctly, a cup should be less prone to leaking than maxipads which can shift place when moving, and spill blood on the sides.
I bought the DivaCup, but it wasn’t quite my size. Then I bought the LilyCup that you used to demonstrate, and that’s when I realized my cervix actually drops during my cycle. So finally, the LunetteCup was my Goldilocks. I absolutely love it, I cannot even feel it when it is inside, and it makes me feel closer and more knowledgeable about my own body since I can see how much I’m actually bleeding. It’s the best thing ever.
Oh, I don't know. Used to, men didn't know about this stuff and the ignorance added to their awe and respect for womanhood. There was a mystique behind it. Now they know, and all it does is gross them out. What's that old saying? Familiarity breeds contempt.
crazymog014 I don't know... Perhaps in case you have a daughter in the future you may be capable of helping her understand her body and what she could use during this time of her life better.
My advice to anyone interested in trying cups is to at least start with Instead SoftCups. They aren't shaped like this, they look more like a diaphragm. They come in disposable and reusable styles, allow for 12hrs of wear, allow for comfortable and mess free sex (which is more difficult with this style of cup) and a $5 box can get most ladies thru 2 cycles so they're a cheap way to see if it's for you. Frankly I could never go back to tampons or even cups styled like this. Walmart carries them.
+deaditequeen I hear the opposite from most people- that their softcup experience was poor but reusable cups worked better for them. If they work for you that's great but I don't typically suggest people start with the disposable version to get a feel for reusable- they're just too different in how they insert, remove, and operate. -K
Life changer. I was scared for ages too but took the plunge and I'm so glad I did. There's definitely a learning curve, but there are with tampons too. It's just learning a new trick.
I just can't wrap my head around the logistics of using a cup in a public restroom situation. Tiny cramped stalls, no access to a sink or paper towels, the difficulties in keeping your clothing clean. I could go on and on.
+Melissa Quinn I have a cup with a valve so if I'm ever in a place I cannot get to a sink I can empty it without removing it. When I didn't I'd carry flushable wipes with me in my bag so I could clean the cup and my hands before leaving the stall. It was tricky through my first cycle but now that I'm used to it I find it much more convenient and comfortable than using pads and it's actually less messy for me than tampons were. Also, they last longer and you don't have to worry about tss.
I thought the same thing. Actually I always have problems using tampons because they absorb too much and dry me out like hell so on lighter flow I can´t even put it in. But I bought a cup like two months ago and I have no problem inserting it.
Maybe you should try relaxing... or using lube. I don't see any logical reason as to why someone wouldn't be able to insert a small tampon unless you're really that deformed, then in that case don't have sex lmao.
+Shweta Srikkanth you can feel with your fingers if the cup is inserted right. If the rim of the cup is touching the vag canal everywhere it is okay. You can also feel if the cup still have foulds and if it needs adjustment
+Wynne Toma I sometimes will pull it down a little and actually feel it pop open inside of me. If I don't do that I just run my finger around the rim on the inside and make sure it's touching my walls. You'll know most likely when it"s not in correctly, I always feel a difference immediately.
I'm sorry to say this, but the cup seems very large to me, I already had a very uncomfortable experience with (regular) tampons, and I do wish that I could use it.
+Ayat Alkazzaz Surprisingly enough it's a VERY different experience from tampons. I always had a lot of difficulty with tampons and was always very conscious of them. I can't even feel the cup when it's in.
+Ayat Alkazzaz I used tampons uncomfortably for ten years before my best friend got a cup and convinced me to do the same. It'll be a year in June, and every month since then I've wished I switched sooner. Be sure to look at a chart to find what's best for you, don't just run out and buy one from a store because it's convenient!
If you can try different ones. Or look online at reviews to get a feel for one that might work as a good beginner cup. itsJustKelli has like 15 different reviews of different cups. Lunette is a very soft and shallow cup vs the diva which I've heard is a little firmer to bend. It's deffinately preference. But worth it girl 👏.
For anyone who's scared of these, it's okay! I was scared too! The first time I inserted a cup was actually fine, but then I freaked out when it came to removing it and felt the suction. It really scared me. Videos like these helped me though! I do recommend, if your motor functions allow the use, to have one of these in your home, even if you don't regularly use it. It's a great backup for when you run out of period products you prefer, or get into uncommon situations where you need to be able to cope with bleeding for longer than a few hours. Give it a chance, familiarize yourself with it, and then use it depending on your needs and preferences. You don't need to immediately completely make the change - I actually started to instead tale birthcontrol that suppresses my period entirely - but it's great to fall back on.
This seems like it could be a disaster, but I kind of REALLY want to try it. Pads and tampons are terrible and there's the risk of toxic shock with them. I've heard that this can be worn for up to 12 hours. It would be ideal to just pop it out and back in in the shower.
Carli DeLoach I own three different types of cups and they're the best things ever. It's like my period has been reduced to an after thought. And depending on your flow you can definitely get away with 12 hours before emptying it.
There is a small learning curve but they are so worth it! I have a heavy flow, I'm talking soaking through super tampons and waking up in a puddle of blood even after using maxi pads. I have a Lena cup and it is so much nicer now! I can go 8-12 hrs with my Lena cup without out having to empty it. It's super easy to clean and- if inserted correctly- you can't even feel it. I still use a panty liner when using my cup, but at least I don't have to use a Super tampon AND a diaper like pad to stay dry. Do some research and give it a shot.
Carli DeLoach, I started trying these about 9 months ago. I wasn't sure at first but two friends that had been using it for years recommended me one. It takes a bit to get used to inserting it correctly, but you eventually find the trick. I wanted to try it because tampons really dried me up and pads just felt like diapers. The first time I wore it I used pads just to make sure I was getting them in right but then I started to use panty liners. So far it has been wonderful. If you try it and just can't get used to it you can always switch back.
The vaginal canal is typically 3-5 inches long. It's not gonna go too far up there to become stuck. You just squeeze it again, and it'll lose its suction and you can take it back out. Simple. I highly recommend one.
i love your videos so much! today is my first day using my cup🥺 i was so nervous because i couldn’t do it at first, however, i tried different ways to fold it and i finally put in on correctly, i’m so happy❤️
If you still need tips, you can do the wiggle/tilt method which breaks the seal, or if you arent bothered by sticking your fingers in there, you can gently break the seal by bending one side just enough that you can wiggle it out =) It takes a little practice but you'll get it!
This is extremely helpful. Thank you so much for making this video. I had recently bought the Lily Cup intending to give it a try during my next cycle. Sadly, the instruction manual isn't the most helpful, especially for someone who is a visual learner like I am. So being able to see exactly how the cup being inserted and roughly where it will settle when fully in place is a godsend. Thank you!
Hi! Just wondering if you all can do an in depth anatomy lesson with a description on what we should be able to "feel" (with fingers when checking cervix height) between the vaginal opening and cervix. I think I'm struggling with placement of my cup once it's past my pubic bone. It's flattened (I have the lily cup original) and I don't know if it's just not far up and back enough to open fully (high cervix). Spinning and all that jazz hasn't really helped. When feeling down there, once my finger is past my pelvic bone everything feels more open, but towards the anterior and slightly left there's like a squishy fleshy area that i think prevents my cup from opening. But I'm not 100% sure if I'm just over thinking everything. So any help would be greatly appreciated!
It's a very helpful video thanks! May I just ask you to make available the addition subtitle function for everyone? So I could add the *sub-ita* for Italian women who don't understand english ;) Thanks again for this video!
Thank u! I put the sub-ita, i'm waiting for the revision...However thank u so much for the video, it's very clear to understand and sooo explicative! I'm going to share it into the facebook italian pages :) thanx again :)
@@sweetssweeter2734 I went from pads to cups. I tried to use tampons, but because of how stiff they are I couldn't make it ten feet from the bathroom without being in excruciating pain. Cups are flexible so they curve with your body. I started figure skating though and wearing a pad when every muscle of your body is tense and causing gushes when you lose your footing was not comfortable so I knew something had to give. There's a learning curve and you have to get comfortable with your body but after that its life changing. I was telling everybody.
britshadrex ... understood!!..... but maybe you're getting them too big in size or putting them in when you're dry..... when I get the super its uncomfortable but when I get the medium or small I'm fine .... also maybe you were applying it when you were to dry....either way I'm glad you found something comparable because I'm sure as a figure skater gushing can be extremely unpredictable and uncomfortable.... I always wondered how the young girls that are 12, 13, 14 who are too young to wear tampons deal with their periods when they're competing.... they must loathe that time of the month.... question : does this device leak?... what if you can't change right then and there?... it is possible to overflow correct?
@@sweetssweeter2734 I talked to my gyno about it and she mentioned it was the shape of my vagina along with the fact that my flow isn't very heavy at all. That pain was from using the light tampons, I can't imagine trying a super. As for leaking, the cups form something of a seal. I've never had any leakage except for when I used a softcup, but those are VERY different. It's still always a good idea to use a backup just in case. Thinx and Knix period panties are amazing for that. If you're overflowing, you don't have the right cup. They come in all shapes and sizes so its important to do your research and get to know your body and flow before you buy one.
Thank you so much, this really really helped. I just got my cup, I didn't know really how to insert it, not really having felt around my own but seeing this visually, I feel more certain about next time when I need to use it!! this is the best video.

I’m sore from try for the first time yesterday. I was leaking so I had to readjust or reinsert a couple of times, and it wasn’t easy no matter what fold I used. I don’t even know what I’m doing wrong 😭
I have used a Diva menstrual cup for almost 13 years. It was the best thing I ever discovered. It was the only brand available at my local health food store, I've never seen the one demonstrated here. What works best for me is to cut the tail completely off otherwise it irritates my vaginal opening and makes insertion much easier. When I insert it, I bear down to bring my cervix down which allows me to easily seat it. I fold it into quarters, insert it, allow it to open, then seat it. I found that if I tip it slightly after it opens and allow a little air in and a couple of twists, it goes into place easier. Otherwise when it opens it creates a bit of a vacuum and won't move into place properly. I just run a finger around it to make sure it is in the correct location and then contract my muscles and it goes up with them. There is no reason to fear using a menstrual cup. PROS 1. They CANNOT "get lost"! We are not bottomless pits up there, LOL. 2. Once you get used to it, they are more comfortable than a tampon. 3. They don't dry you out by drawing your vaginal moisture along with the blood like a tampon does. 4. You can use them until you completely stop spotting unlike a tampon. See item #3. 5. No need for a pantyliner, mine has NEVER leaked. Thank the lord for this one as all I do is sweat wearing them and they shred in my underwear. 6. They don't get pushed out with a bowel movement unlike a tampon. 7. I have done ballet, been in the splits on my period, and never a leak! I cannot say the same for tampons. 8. More hygienic than tampons, easier on the pipes or landfill. 9a. Easy clean up. I keep a bottle of their wash in the shower so I can clean it while showering. While I have never had an issue with spillage when removing it sitting on the toilet, this allows for easy cleaning without even thinking about spillage. I just empty it out directly in the drain, use the wash and reinsert. Sometimes it helps either putting a foot on the wall a little off the ground or squatting slightly to reinsert. I have been using them a long time so not an issue for me. 9b. When removing it on the toilet, just pull it straight down and remove holding upright. Wipe with toilet paper just to be safe, get up and dump the cup in the toilet, then wash as usual. Often I will sit back down, insert it and rinse my privates from a paper cup of warm water then dry with a paper towel. This mock bidet refreshes me for the next 12 hours. 10. If you and your partner are so inclined, you can have oral sex on your period as all the blood is captured behind it. All you do is thoroughly clean the opening to your vagina prior to engaging. I would never do this with a tampon, gross. Have never done it with the cup since that is not my thing but I could if I wanted to. I have however taken care of myself during my period and even with the uterine contractions it never leaked. Sorry, TMI. Just saying for those who don't know. 11. While not recommended due to possible "toxic shock" issues, I have gone 24 hours without cleaning it out. I could never have done that with a tampon. In fact, I used to have to change my tampons every 3 to 4 hours, wear a pantyliner and wear a maxi at night too. You could not pay me to go back to tampons!!!!!! CONS 1. Initial investment is more than a box of tampons however they pay for themselves quickly. They say to replace it every year so it won't leak, I call BS on that one as I have used the same cup for 3 years now without issue. 2. If you are squeamish/prudish about your own vagina, then this is not the product for you. You do have to stick your fingers inside yourself. They are your parts, be proud of them, know how they function and how to take care of them. 3. You have to clean it with cup wash and then boil it for 20 minutes, to me not a big deal. With the last removal I wash it and put it in a small paper cup until I have the time to sterilize it. I use filtered water just in case the chlorine in tap water could degrade it over time. Give it a try. Once you get used to it you will never go back to stuffing wads of cotton and wood pulp (rayon) up your vagina every month!
Right? I swapped from tampons to the Lily Cup Compact and definitely wont be going back! I love the fact that the one I picked out for myself folds down into a small carry case small enough for my pocket and still retains all its functionality! Tampons were a miserable experience for me but one I suffered for years because its what I had... leaks in school or overnights, swimming was a nightmare ugh! You can even get steamers if you dont want to boil your cup in a pot you use to cook too! =D
A male here. Didn't know what a menstrual cup was. Saw a story about one and was curious. Thank you for the professional explanation.

The same is often said about homeless folks. A large problem seems to be hygiene. Disposable non-insertables are much safer in that regard
It would be good as long as they have access to clean water and they can wash their hands when needed. Using the cup requires very good hygiene.
You say you forget you're on your period when using a cup so you must not be getting cramps and those other period symptoms 🤔

+cellogirl11RW I have never used a tampon before this is my first day on it😥
+Vanya Ahmed It takes a little practice to get used to it. I would try a couple different folds and see if that helps. Remember to relax.
Lol
Also, something we don't usually think about.
Plzzz help me
After inserting inside does the cup will open itself??
Anamika NaroliwaLa It depends on the cup firmness. If you get a softer cup, you may need to maneuver it a bit to get it to open.
I would defo drop the cup an it'll spill all over my clothes.
i dont think i can wear the cup. it looks like it will hurt me lol. i cant even put tampon inside because it hurt!! and the cup looks bigger than tampom. i prefer cloth pad...

Thanks!
I want to try a cup but i dont feel like my mom will let me. Ahh what do I do?
Abby Sprankle I think you should sit down with your mother and discuss with her why you want to try them. Show her some of the videos you have been watching here on TH-cam and start with one of the less expensive ones that is recommended for your body so she doesn't feel she is wasting money. Of course you could always ask grandma 😉grandmas buy their grandkids anything. I am trying to get my 13 year old to start considering a cup. Maybe now with summer coming up and tampons being used more frequently she will be more open to it. But I'm going to wear her down someday soon!
Abby Sprankle talk to her about it.
This cup is nasty in every aspect
as somebody who's only never used pads, even the idea of this scares me.

Jowie Man I am 21 ...how to use...I am so scary to use this ......god. .how is this possible ?...so scary....

When do you need to change the cup? I mean how did you know if it is full?
"Try a different cup" easy for you to say when these things are $40 a pop.

It's smaller than a p and much smaller than a baby, so it's nothing your body can't handle. I think it's worthwhile getting comfortable with yourself because it's hard to be scared of or embarrassed by something that you're super familiar with and understand well.
i wish i had a transparent body so that i could see how far this /tampon going. damn i m scared of it! 😲😐

I transfered to a cup and I’m NEVER GOING BACK! Once you get the right one and the hang of it, it’s the easiest, cleanest, greatest thing to use!
Bruh I'm tryna do this in a few minutes and it got me hella anxious. Scrolling thru the comments, I realize I'm not the only girl nervous to put things in the cooch 😂
You ok??? Questions? Need to take a break?
Ugh! I tried today for the first time and it isn't fully inserting so that it can open. I really hope it works when i try tmrw. Super frustrated :(
@@tabithademelo1809 Did it work? I found even when I was able to get it in, it still didn't fully open even when I pinch all around the base like it tells you to. No matter what I do it doesn't fully open, so I have to deal with a lot of leakage. If you haven't tried, wetting the cup with water will act as a sort of lube which will make it easier to insert, and you gotta really twist and push at the same time. I thought it would never work for me but I eventually got it!
omg pls share how you got it out
lezzlie Lol First I push like I’m trying to have a bowel movement so I can get a grip on the stem and keep pushing while I wiggle it out further.
I’m like in the bathroom crying I don’t know how to take this out
Hannah Chodos RELAX. Push like you have a baby and fish it out.
Jaja thank you
Any more tips ?
Did you get it out? I've tried, but idk if it was in far enough, I'm afraid to push it in more
Yeah I took it out
Really cool to see how it all works. I'll be sharing this video with friends when I tell them about how amazing menstrual cups are!
Bro I'm keeping with pads
I'm I the only one who is scared of wearing a tampon or a diva cup?????
Im 16 & I swear I'm terrified of putting something in there it's just terrifying just thinking about it
Shout out to all the girls who are younger than me & do wear tampons and diva cups💪
Your girl here is so scared 😂😂🤦♀️
Don’t be scared, I have been using a cup since I’m 13 and it’s really easy to use! Not scary at all!!
Billie Eilish Fan i’m 12 and i started using the lena cup. at first i was super scared but it’s life changing and i don’t feel guilty about the waste i’m creating. you know we’re expected to only have 11 years before the earth environment and climate is permanently ruined? please make the change!! also i saw billie on june 20th at the anthem for a concert ahaha
I'm in the same situation
Tbh i dont like tampons they feel like they are moving with you but this feels like it is locked solid i recommend the menstrual cup
Nope I'm with u ❤️
This is a great clip. .
I grew up on pads n tampons.. now that I'm a mom of three teenage girls, we need to make the switch, just in savings alone is a bonus...
So we will be watch this on the big screen, because I'm just going to assume my girls know nothing about these cups, and you calm voice makes it so comfortable to watch. .thank you.
I was also on buzzfeed xD
Same xD
Yes!!
Omg same
YESSS
same
This is the best video guide for the cup I've seen. Thank you so much
I use it as it takes some getting used to.
That's incredible. I'm so happy for you. Thank you for sharing 💛
Finally got a mensural cup and now I’m rewatching all the videos about them and being almost excited for my period? Lol
Very very helpful. I finally feel like I will be able to confidently insert my cup.
The cervix model was so helpful. Thank you for this!
I did switch from pads to cup about 5 months back and I am very comfortable with cup. I recommend everyone reading this to try cup.
"Let's meet some of the parts"
Me: oh Hi Lefty and Righty! (Ovaries) 😂😂
I'm a guy and this is the first time I've ever heard of this, i found it from FB from a friend posting what cup she uses and I said to myself wtf is this??..lol
Let me ask a lame question.
It's actually less messy when used properly because the moisture in tampons can travel down the string as well :\
NewShockerGuy + I felt the same way you did after watching the video. My head was hurting trying to comprehend how these work.
The edge of the cup slightly suctions itself to the vaginal wall, forming a leak tight seal. When inserted correctly, a cup should be less prone to leaking than maxipads which can shift place when moving, and spill blood on the sides.
NewShockerGuy I do not think so because they cup is inside
NewShockerGuy I'm a girl and I wonder the same thing 😂
I'm twelve and quite a small person I find the 7 fold works well and doesn't hurt as it has a small insertion point that is the same size
Im a male why did i just watch this in its entirety.
Oh, I don't know. Used to, men didn't know about this stuff and the ignorance added to their awe and respect for womanhood. There was a mystique behind it. Now they know, and all it does is gross them out. What's that old saying? Familiarity breeds contempt.
+Anon Really? I would think men respected women less in the past.
crazymog014 I don't know... Perhaps in case you have a daughter in the future you may be capable of helping her understand her body and what she could use during this time of her life better.
crazymog014 Maybe guys are just curious.
Loved this! Thank you for taking the time to make this so informative.
What am I doing watching a woman stuff a cup up a fake vulva at 2 in the morning? 😖
Idk LMAOO
Nope. It's just 1:00 were I am 😂
Chilly potato
Chilly potato if you don't menstruate idk X)
ChillyPotato lmaoo same but it's midnight rn where I am hah
Had my cup for 8 yrs. Game changer
+deaditequeen hold on... So you can have sex with this thing???
ohhhhh gatcha
Wow, incredibly helpful! Was on the fence about trying a cup and you've convinced me. Thank you!
Thank gosh for this video! I was wondering why I couldn't pee comfortably and now I'm thinking I need a different cup size/style.
You can wear them for 12 hours so you most likely won't need to clean it in a public restroom. I put it in before work and clean it when I get home.
Dude, I can't even put in a fucking slim tampon there is no chance of a cup working for me.
Lizzie Goodall Same though
I thought the same thing. Actually I always have problems using tampons because they absorb too much and dry me out like hell so on lighter flow I can´t even put it in. But I bought a cup like two months ago and I have no problem inserting it.
Maybe you should try relaxing... or using lube. I don't see any logical reason as to why someone wouldn't be able to insert a small tampon unless you're really that deformed, then in that case don't have sex lmao.
LeDubKitty read about vaginismus and vulvodynia. they're really common. some people can 'try' relaxing all they want.
its all about practice and getting used to it. wetting it with water helps and theres plenty of ways to fold the cup, just experiment
I like using the punch down method because it makes the cup smaller and easier to get in but i never know if it opens or if i got it in right...
Me too! But i always have this doubt in my mind if i inserted the cup correctly or not.
After 2 years using it it's so easy to put in and remove it... I've never had a leak. It's perfection.
Tbh I’m 12 and I really want to try this to help the environment to help reduce wast so I’m trying to get comfortable with it and how it works.
At first I thought this was a buzzfeed video. Whoops...
Me too XD
Lol, same. XD
Same lol
same! 😂
me 2
I'm sorry to say this, but the cup seems very large to me, I already had a very uncomfortable experience with (regular) tampons, and I do wish that I could use it.
+Ayat Alkazzaz Surprisingly enough it's a VERY different experience from tampons. I always had a lot of difficulty with tampons and was always very conscious of them. I can't even feel the cup when it's in.
EmileeArsenic really? wow, i might try it
+Ayat Alkazzaz I used tampons uncomfortably for ten years before my best friend got a cup and convinced me to do the same. It'll be a year in June, and every month since then I've wished I switched sooner. Be sure to look at a chart to find what's best for you, don't just run out and buy one from a store because it's convenient!
+Ayat Alkazzaz. I agree with others, I am very uncomfortable with tampons but the cup is absolutely great.
If you try it and just can't get used to it you can always switch back.
what if it gets stuck..
or like goes too far up omfg
verpixxxelt thanks, i might actually get one
The vaginal canal is typically 3-5 inches long. It's not gonna go too far up there to become stuck. You just squeeze it again, and it'll lose its suction and you can take it back out. Simple. I highly recommend one.
That's not possible. The vagina is like a pocket, there's nowhere for it to go.
Dude, with peace and love, this looks terrifying and I am absolutely not doing it lmao
i love your videos so much! today is my first day using my cup🥺 i was so nervous because i couldn’t do it at first, however, i tried different ways to fold it and i finally put in on correctly, i’m so happy❤️
Those dislikes are probably period-disgusted men.
Elsa Zwiener how would that even work? that's kinda dumb
+Madison Leijon exactly
Or people with different opinions
or fem ;-; dont kill me
+Bone Jangles LMAO XD like tampons
I need more tips on the removal, it kind of hurts...
Newbie here.
If you still need tips, you can do the wiggle/tilt method which breaks the seal, or if you arent bothered by sticking your fingers in there, you can gently break the seal by bending one side just enough that you can wiggle it out =) It takes a little practice but you'll get it!
I'm ur 1,000 subscriber
+Shellyiscool Oh that is awesome!!!! Thank you!
You're welcome
So I could add the *sub-ita* for Italian women who don't understand english ;)
Thanks again for this video!
I just turned Community Contributions on... let us know if that helps!
Thank u! I put the sub-ita, i'm waiting for the revision...However thank u so much for the video, it's very clear to understand and sooo explicative! I'm going to share it into the facebook italian pages :) thanx again :)
Hell no I am sticking to pads
Agislin Johnson ... if you haven't graduated from granny pads to tampons then of course you're not going to adopt this.
Samr.
How many of you are here after watching Fit Tuber Video 👍🖐️💛
how do I fit myself for one of these suckers? since they are like 40 bucks a pop would hate to try a bunch
We have a quiz that's awesome for that putacupinit.com/quiz - and you can also use our comparison chart putacupinit.com/chart to help further compare the options that might be best for you.
PROS
CONS
