Acadia - Battery Shorted to Ground, Can't Shift to Neutral or Remove Keys

I lost all power to my car which is not a good situation because you can't change your shifter or remove your key for starters. I had a direct short on the starter cable connected to the battery which drains all the energy out of the battery so I had to figure out what was going on from that standpoint. The video show some of the things tips to consider for this type of failure.

the shift cable pops off the shift linkage by hand so you can move the shift lever - no need to pull the shift cable bracket first. ;)
