  • Many consider meeting new people a burden; when it can be a goldmine. In this highly relatable talk, Adrienne Bankert shares how isolation and struggles with belonging can help us breakthrough when initiating conversation and allow us to "prompt engineer connection." Through behind-the-scenes stories from her work as a journalist she reveals one major key for how anyone can move from shallow or awkward interactions to being engaged, opening new doors of opportunity in an instant.
    Adrienne Bankert, an award-winning national news anchor, spearheaded the launch of “Morning in America” on NewsNation and now leads Special Projects. With five years at ABC News, she earned two Emmys for “Good Morning America” and reported for “World News Tonight” and “Nightline.” From Tokyo to Paris, she has covered major events like the Women’s World Cup and tragedies like the Parkland shooting. Adrienne’s interviews span from Kobe Bryant to Lady Gaga, even singing with Garth Brooks! In her book, "Your Hidden Superpower," she explores the impact of kindness on personal and professional success. Based in Chicago, she embraces her new hometown while innovating in media and technology. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

    I believe Maya Angelou said “people will forget what you said but remember you by how you made them feel.” I believe this is an example of it. Kindness is action. Thank you

    WOW! That’s a striking conversation starter!

      To me this question is a cop out. Making interviewee do your job for you.
      I’ve seen multiple interviews with this question and the answer is never interesting and it doesn’t look like it builds a connection.

    Be true to your word and follow through with your actions. ...
    Learn how to communicate effectively with others. ...
    Remind yourself that it takes time to build and earn trust. ...
    Take time to make decisions and think before acting too quickly.
    I hope this may help you from my side.😊😊

    I agree, you need to be kind o yourself, I battle with connection and I definitely have imposter syndrome. Its really a sh!tty thing to have. I was abused as a kid so I have trouble getting to believe in myself because I was beaten for being "too clever". But, I have worked on it, I am much better but still not perfect.

    I find when I can make the conversation more about them and a genuine curiosity about them, it leads to very interesting conversations. Bing all about me is no fun for either of us. This is a challenge for my personality type but I continue to work on it. Well don presentation.

    I'm autistic and wasn't diagnosed until I was 58. I've spent my entire life doing the emotional labor of masking who I am to make other people comfortable. I'm done with that. This just sounds like doing more emotional labor for others. Something almost no one has ever done for me.

      Because the inclusive society is not too highlighted ! And also we live in a society which we have to think about group’s mind not individual’s mind so if the group said something and if you’re not following or not agreed about it then you’re the one who are weird ! They called individualism, I called it diversity . . . Each person have a different way of thinking . . . That doesn’t mean that they are wrong or right or you are wrong or right ! Just two different perceptions . . .
      Since I bet a lot on the quality of the relationship than on the quantity, I know my relationship with this person and the improvement I have with it as . . . So I don’t ask myself too many questions

    Welfare is the most important thing in human being
    We all should have dignity for certain cases
    To solve problems , first we should discern them deeply
    People should motivate those subdued ones

    So, she talks about Empathy being key to finding prompts, but what if you’re on the autism spectrum and Empathy is simply not something that exists in your tool bag?

    • @Lolcoca
      @Lolcoca หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @sixfiftyfive2386
    @sixfiftyfive2386 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    What exactly is a prompt tho

    • @XeaRae
      @XeaRae หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Instructions on how to do the prompt are very unclear.
      The only clear example she gives is:
      a) asking an interviewee what question you’d like to be asked more (inapplicable unless you are an interviewer)
      b) telling CEO she thinks being a CEO is the hardest job in the world
      c) asking Lady Gaga how to call her during interview and reffering what a man spoke in her name.
      None of the above seems usable. The second example seems to be ‘notice if someone is down and assume what they are down about’.
      Like there is a lot of fluff about serving people, connecting, being genuine, believing in your own value but the application of the above is not explained.
