I love watching your videos. I'm an old lady who LOVES watching building projects and actually seeing them completed. So many people start a project and never really finish it. It bothers me. lol You guys are great. I always hate to come to the end of your videos. It's like coming to the end of an episode of my favorite TV show. They are never long enough. Keep up the good work!!

I'm a fairly new follower of the channel and I've just finished watching all your videos. So these comments are more general, and in response to comments / thngs said on other videos than specifically about this video.
I didn't watch all these videos because Katie is cute. I certainly don't mind that she is (I'm only human), but that's not why I subscribed. I also like watching Greg, and he's certainly not cute (though Katie may disagree with me there 😀)
There isn't just one reason why I watch.
There's the satisfaction of seeing things grow (plants and buildings).
There's the goats going for walks.
There's the dogs and the cat - I don't think Juniper is pure blue heeler, I think she may be part cat with her ability to find the most inconvenient place to sit.
There's the two of you coping with huge swings in temperature (I live in New Zealand and we get swings from about 25 to 30 in summer to around 0 in winter (that's really low here).
The intros where you give a brief view of everything before getting into the meat of the video is especially good.
I also enoy seeing Katie in a bikini - but that's at least partly because it usually means you guys are relaxing, and after all the hard work you do you deserve to relax.
So, thank you for your videos, please keep posting them. I'll never go off grid myself, but I enjoy seeing someone making a really good go at it like you two do.

Cut your top step off, and you can leave the blocking. Your calculator gives you the number of steps, with the deck being one and your next one starts the height of your rise down from there.

AWESOME!!!! LOOKS LIKE GREG HAS A FANCEE SHEETMETAL PARTNER , PUT HER ON THE PAYROLL , LOL. THAT FLASHING WILL SURE ADD YEARS TO THE DECK..... GREAT IDEA. THE STAIRS ARE EXCELLENT, AND LONG STEPS SURE MAKE IT NICE LIKE YOU SAID, WHEN CARRYING A LOAD A WOOD UP. MAY ADD 2 INCH GRIPTAPE TO THE FRONT FOR WHEN THERES ICE OR SNOW, LESS CHANCE OF SLIPPING AND IT CAN BE PEELED OFF AND REPLACED AS NEEDED. HAPPY AUTUMN YA ALL. 👍👍🙏🙏GOD BLESS. ROMANS 10:9

You have saved yourself so much money, not only on what you did on this video but throughout your entire build. Those dead trees saved you tons of money on the build and free firewood probably for life. Eagerly looking forward to your next video.

I might have already told you this but at the beginning of this year I had two bowl legal attacks in my chickens at the sort of hammer at 1 it wouldn't leave when I was yelling at it got about 20 feet away from it through a hammer at it and it finally left turkey chased the other one away in the backyard but the side yard turkey can't get in it's first time out of three years that they've ever attacked us and I've always had them perched up above my yard constantly and have never I was always told that they couldn't take off and make that incline from my place straight up into the trees but obviously they can so I put three 38 inch rope I bought 2000 feet of it for $29 and I strung at 8 feet in the air all around my yard and that stopped them all but it doesn't stop an eagle or hot because I hadn't recently had either an eagle or a hawk in the middle a afternoon diaper on one of my chickens went right underneath the rope but I'd only tried it once that was it didn't get anybody but that bold legal should pluck my chicken pretty good if it had been one of the red chickens I wouldn't have minded but it was my Bardrock and don't want to lose no bird rocks It must have been a bad year for Eagles not being able to get feed to feed their babies because that's when the attacks occurred is when they had babies still in the nests now that the babies were all gone they stopped even coming over

Greg. I’m not an owner of Chickens, but I’ve read that if you have a Black Chicken or two or if you have a black decoy in the chicken’s yard, the Hawk will think there are crows there which are a natural enemy of hawks? Don’t know if it’s true, but might be worth a try or look into.

    Tom
I am writing to you from the Czech Republic. You have incorrectly oriented stairs, the right side, i.e. the side that was closer to the center in the trunk, must always be up. At the door, at the window frame, at everything, the right side must always be out. If you do it like I say, it won't warp. Also, the right side is always prettier.
    Tom

Katie, did you ever think a few years back you'd learn how to use a metal brake? You continue to add to your skill set which makes you such a strong and independent young woman. You and Greg work so very well together and are fun to watch along your journey. It sure is nice that Greg has access to what he does through work as it saves you so much money and makes it much more convenient for you guys. The deck and stairs look great. The structure where you were planing is the old chicken/goat area, correct? Have a good week ahead - productive and safe. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

At first I wondered why you were planeing the stringers but then I saw how nice it made the wood look. I like how Greg marks the place for the screws on the treads. I'm sure he does that to align with the stringers but it looks so uniform rather than hap-hazard and that adds to the beauty of the whole thing. Having fresh good looking wood of your own instead of the Home Depot kind make quite a difference also.
You two work so well together and Katie seems to pick up on new things quickly. My wife and I are like that not having to be told over and over. You are going to have such a wonderful house rather than the somewhat normal forest cabin type of place. All of your work looks so "decorative" instead of plain.
I look forward to all of your videos and would be happy with more of them and even longer ones too. Katie's editing gets better every time too. Greg's knowledge of wood working and sheet metal work is bringing things along nicely.
Take care and try and have some fun along the way,
    jack

Before it gets frosty or snow falls, personally I would add one thin layer of finishing with fine sand spread along the steps. It won't prevent skiing down the steps, but may reduce the chances.
    The flashing worked perfectly.
Hopefully you get the materials very soon for the deck.
Hawks, eagles are also feeding up for winter, like bears and the rest of animals. Maybe get some surveyors flagging and tie it over the chicken run. Deterrence may work.

Excellent episode. It is so fascinating to me to watch both of you complete even the smallest part of a project ! Thanks again for your incite.
