Michigan -- Charles Woodson , USC -- Reggie Bush , Texas -- Vince Young ,, are the 3 best I've ever seen in college football. Charles Woodson was special on defense , offense , and special teams and won a national title and Heisman too. Go Blue 🏈.
Die hard Michigan fan. One of the greatest college football games ever played. Thought Braylon n Stevie Breaston would get it done for us. 18 years later it still shatters my heart. Go Blue forever, V.Y was unstoppable wish he had worked out with the Titans
that was one of the many problems with the rigid bowl system of the old days. it precluded many great matchups from happening over the years and certainly led to some "false" national champions. also, back in those days teams avoided playing top teams from other leagues to protect their win-loss record to have a better chance to win a title.
This game was what he was doing his entire career. Vick has nothing on this guy. Vick was a halfway decent passer and a great runner. This guy was a great passer and an even greater threat on the run. Vick was great don’t get me wrong. But Vince was 6’5 230 and you couldn’t tackle him, you can’t blitz because he just kills you with his passing, you also can’t use man coverage because defenders aren’t watching the QB and he takes off running, but if you did actually blitz him and got your hands on him he would still make the blitz defender miss or just get out of the tackle. He was like a 6’5 230lb greased up Mike Vick with a better arm lol.
This was a great Rose Bowl game! It is too bad that one team had to lose because the offences from Texas and Michigan played so well during this nail-biter.
Man, MeatChicken had some boys that year. Edwards, Breaston, that tight end, and Hart. Nasty team, could’ve given anyone a run for they money. Vince Young just showed up for big games back then. Despite the turnovers and crazy returns by Michigan, burnt orange overcame. Best Rose Bowl back to back ever by far. VY, Derrick Johnson, Cedric Benson, Michael Griffin, Cedric Griffin, David Thomas, Bo Scaife, Limas Sweed, Michael Huff, Aaron Ross, Tarell Brown, and Brian Robison? Cmon man I know you heard of at least 7 of those guys from the NFL.
Still can't believe Michigan let this one get away. I remember watching this at my grandma's house as a kid and I wanted to cry at the end. Almost 20 years later now, I'm an alumn, and I still wanna cry at the end of Michigan bowl games because we can't win them.
@@stout8807 I respect the traditions and pageantry of Texas football. Fun fact my dad was a first gen HS grad and got accepted to UT but it was too expensive for him to go
Real tough loss, but the silver lining to me was that Michigan lost to a Texas team that went on to defeat one of the greatest college football teams in modern memory the following year for the national championship.

10:21 VY throws an interception and then immediately what would become a game saving tackle.
Michigan had the Joe Moore Award Winners in 2021 & 2022 (Best OL in Nation) and they had DE's Aiden Hutchinson go 2nd and David Ojabo would have went between 8-15 if not for the injury at his pro day which dropped him to the 2nd round and he will actually be a Rookie this year the year before DE Kwity Paye & Josh Uche go in the 1st round the year before and both those guys were studs this year in the NFL. Rashan Gary was drafted in the 1st round and has become a Pro Bowl player and Mike Morris and Mazi Smith 2 DL both could go 1st round in the 2023 draft.
Jackson’s call at 16:26 is glorious. “That, folks…..” I’ve never particularly liked either one of these programs, but I found this to be one of the most well played and entertaining games I’ve ever watched. Just looking at the game itself, and not considering what was on the line, I think this game was every bit as good as Texas/USC.
To think this was VY as a sophomore. Still sad he left his junior year, UT would have had a huge chance to repeat as champs if he came back his senior year.
VY may be the best example of should have stayed his senior year. He was unstoppable and could have possibly won 2 national championships and the heisman. Maybe gained a little of maturity that would have helped him at the next level as well.
Lmao they had no talent on defense except for one or two players. They didn’t deserve to win obviously. That’s the exact same thing we could say about Michigan lol, take away Braylon and you lose the game. Obviously without your best players you can be beaten 😂
Vince Young put on the greatest back to back Rose Bowl performances of all times facts
that is true
Vince Young was the best college football player ever. Period. He was unstoppable.

Can't wait to visit Ann Arbor in '24! Gonna be a hell of a rematch.
I mean they did, vy was just different in college.
Crazy that this was the first time Texas and Michigan played each other.
Best game I’ve ever seen in person and I had my Dad with me. A memory I’ll never forget.
That's crazy that this was the first ever game between Texas and Michigan

Truly one of the greatest games ever. Incredible how the one the very next year completely overshadows this game
Keith Jackson was a legend, his energy is unmatched. one of the best ever!
This was the game that Hooked me as a Longhorns fan.
Vince Young best of his era and it ain't close

Vince Young-college football GOAT.
I was at this game. It was unbelievable. Vince young was amazing to watch in person.
Vince Young looking like Michael Vick on some of these plays. I can't believe I hadn't seen these highlights before

It is poetic justice how Texas won with a field goal seeing as Michigan clung to there special Teams throughout the game

This game was basically Vince Young vs Braylon Edwards Chad Henne, and Preston. Great game but it seems like it was just four people on field.
Yo! Please do 2004 and 2005 texas Vs Oklahoma state. You’re the best
That Michigan defense was tough.
My second favorite game ever.
No one could touch Braylon Edwards in this game
