The Ducks were as big as they could be in this moment. Looking back on that season, I blame Helfrich for not getting them this pumped for the National Championship game.
Dustin Garrett To be honest Mariota isn’t much better than Jameis in the NFL, it’s just the Titans play in an easier division with easier schedule than the Buccaneers do. If he’d gone first he’d only be a little bit better than Jameis was. Both were not that great.
I was at this game. It was insane! After that Jameis fumble they showed the replay during the commercial and you could hear almost the entire stadium laughing at him. I almost felt bad for him.
To be fair to winstion, he was going up against the best QB that year, his defense/RB core did not show up, and dear god those turnovers just killed whatever momentum FSU had.
I’ve been an Oregon fan over 25 years and this is no doubt one of my 3 favorite games to watch. Obviously the offense played incredibly, but watching what the defense was capable of was so much better. And after tracking Thomas Tyner all through High School this is the player that I expected when he signed. Shame his career was cut short, kid had absolutely unreal field vision and acceleration.
This is vintage Oregon right here. That's how they want to win games. Yes it may seem close for a while but once they start to wear you down they just pour it on.
oregondork ....why does it matter what year it is? The philosophy is still the same. And I know all about the 10-11 season. That was their best team ever. Was a season ticket holder back then.
@@jacklong5158 Hmm, FSU settles for $950k, plus she has never publicly denied that he didn't. So, with his illustrious history of stealing crab legs, table top ranting and punching an Uber driver.......I'll believe her.
+fishinsolitude How do you figure? FSU was overrated. I would take the 2011 national champ runnerup Oregon over last years. They could have beaten Auburn, was close by only 3 points. They were a complete team, from the defense standpoint as well. Compared to last year, just that much better. Last year, defensively they kept bend but don't break, and turnovers to make the difference (which doesn't work vs good physical teams that don't beat themselves consistently). I don't think I saw "completeness" last year, and not even this game with FSU going for 500+ yards and shooting themselves in the foot (albeit, Oregon did force 3 of those turnovers). This was not the most complete game they ever played. Look to 2011.
+Fish4Man61 I remember the 2011 team very well. I also remember the National Championship game with Auburn and agree with you, it was a close game. However, to say Florida State was overrated just holds no water. They were in the Rose Bowl because they earned it, like it or not. I will stand on my statement. The entire Oregon team came to play and they dominated this game from start to finish. While the offense keep the heat on with quick scoring drives, the defense put the clamps on Florida State. It is the finest, most complete game ever played by the Oregon Ducks. By the way, when I say "finest and most complete game", that includes winning the game. (Oregon 59 Florida State 20)
fishinsolitude No, FSU was overrated. They only came in because they didn't lose. That said, TCU lost to the no5 team, and played a much tougher schedule - and had a better 60 minutes of play for 10 other games, by a large margin - to what FSU did. FSU barely escaped on several games, like the GT game just before the playoff. TCU deserved it more, and were visibly and logically the better team. But for some reason people still count a very good loss under a bad win vs a nobody (it should be the opposite. Barely losing to Baylor should be rewarded - far more than escaping by a 3-8 team - that FSU did earlier in the year. So no, I do not buy that FSU should have even been given the chance to play Oregon. They weren't a dominate team by any stretch.
Is no one talking about how Dalvin Cook looks so terrible in this game with all his fumbles and turned out to be one of the top RBs in the NFL right now. Amazing

I'd say the debate is over. Mariota is just better. Better in all aspects. Go ahead and pick apart the stats and yeah, Jameis may have a few more yards and a few less interceptions (Mariota didn't have the greatest year last year), But being a good QB and the face of a franchise is about decision making, on and off the field. Mariota made Winston look like a piece of shit. and idk what highlights you watched but if you watched these same highlights, i think mariota proved himself as a better Quarterback overall.
I think the total opposite. Without bringing in shoulda woulda couldas and ifs into this conversation, the offensive scheme FSU brought into this game left Oregon overmatched. However, receivers dropped passes and didnt execute. Their lack of execution exacerbated the penalty of the turnovers. Furthermore, lack of pursuit and effective tackling contributed to the warped scoreboard. This means both offensive schemes worked to the benefit of the respective teams. Nether defense was equipped to deal with the offenses schemes. Therefore, the defense that caused the most turnovers determined the outcome of this game rather than a disparity in skill level.
CajunMetalHead1994 that's exactly my point. Thanks for agreeing with me. Without the turnovers this game is a shootout... with turnovers, it's a blowout....
+Katavicta most of the turnovers were forced. Fsu had never faced such a fast offense and it overwhelmed them. I have honestly never seen a top notch team just give up in the 4th the way fsu did, players were just walking around it was sad.
+michael jasper I would have to disagree, they drafted mariota while they had a better quarterback in Mettenberger. Mariota didn't help the titans at all. Same as last year. While winston Helped the Bucs big time.

😂
Jeez I didn't realize how bad of a game dalvin had
I was at this game. I have to tell everyone that if you ever get the chance to attend a Rose Bowl game in Pasadena, you should do it because you will not be disappointed. My Ducks put the hammer down on Florida state this Day. Best Day Ever!!
As a Florida fan seeing the criminoles get pounded like that was awesome I was rooting for Oregon
Mason P Criminoles? That’s amazing!
floridas last natty was when?
@@tylerbreeden7735 2008. Where they won by a decent amount unlike FSU’s last National championship that went down to the wire
@@masonpyle5929 they didnt even go undefeated, they lost to an unranked ole miss team lmao.
As a Clemson fan, this game will NEVER get old. The end of 'ol Jameis as we knew and hated him lol
because he hung 51 on yall?
FSU would have won this game but Oregon's Bus showed up on time. :*(
Yes, if Oregon had not made it to the stadium and had to forfeit, FSU MIGHT have won.
SurferMan127 its not that fsu's wiston just wasn't ready for my Oregon ducks cause Oregon's defence was good that game I was their so its not that
Only one of five of the FSU turnovers was NOT caused by Oregon's D. If you don't belive it, you should probably watch/rewatch the highlight video brudder.
Steve Kelly You're right Jameis had a brain fart and forgot to throw the football so it went from a brain fart to the "butt fumble" We might add that play to our montage next season as the "Drop Six" have that go along with "The Pick"....
I love the Monster formation. Love that bubble screen. Get those tackles out wide.
I remember all the hype fsu had about their lead scorer lol the kicker before this game lol we all know how that story ended ....
Didn’t somebody trade up to the 2nd or 3rd round for him? Lol
Colin Hays yea I think so he sucks
wheres mariotta?
Awesome game. Never grow tired of watching it!💚🦆💛
this Oregon team was extremely good with a high powered offense and a decent defense , sadly Oregon isn't the same but will get better and will go to National Championship #GoDucks
Truly blessed to have watched this game in person
Some how Carrington got "randomly" selected for a drug test after this game.
😭😭 and that causes us to lose
Shane Moon most of our star players were out :/
just weed mannnnn XD
13:17 I respect those linemen for messing up and getting up off their asses and trying their hardest to try and tackle the faster, and more athletic d-linemen
I was at this game, i still have the ticket stub and everything
I’m a gator fan and after we lose this vid cheers me up
Same here
The Nebraska game from the 1995 season cheers me up too. 62-24. Nebraska humbles Spurrier. It was beautiful.
THIS 13:04 is the most cockamamie single play I have ever seen in college football
#LoveSeeingCriminolesLose
One of the most satisfying games in football.
Remember when FSU was taken as a serious team... The Oregon happened
Then Ohio state happened to Oregon and Oregon was irrelevant for awjile
yourface 123 they’re back now lmfao
yourface 123 they’re even better and more physical under Cristobal
“Mistakes happened.” I’m trying to remember how many NC’s Oregon has.... I’ll wait.
Mike W true but I guess you can only live in the past as a FSU fan
Those ALL APPLE GREEN UNIS WERE HARD 💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was a great game. Glad Ducks beat the crap out of FSU. Scott Frost is going to be an Awesome head Coach at my UCF. We are glad to have him.
jessica sheldon congratulations on your year ! Was pulling for you guys the whole way as us oregon fans didn’t have as much to root for haha
And he’s gone
Yeah and he's gone before you know it "National Champions". Go join a real conference. Once y'all finally played a legit team you lost. You were never good and won't be for a long, long time
injuries killed this Oregon team.
Eduardo Rivera ikr we are 3-1 And not even in the top 25
they went into the Ohio state game next even further down. Carrington tested positive for THC i think and they were down many receivers as it was.
Worst no call for holding on that 2 point conversion. Needless to say, FSU defense was piss poor all season long. Their offense did not bail them out in this game by no means.
At 15:57 when Wilson fumbles anyone else notice all the other Oregon players push him out of the way and kind of step over him except for number 4 on Oregon who was about to walk away but comes back to help him up. I just always thought that was a real class act by that guy
Any Duck fans watching this in 2024?
I LOVE watching this! The Ducks STOMPED the Noles' ASS!
Florida ST. Was weak that whole year. Winning games by 7 points or less, I saw it coming, especially knowing they were gonna be playing Oregon
Norma Jackson this Oregon team is probably one of the greatest team of all time crazy good , they could’ve beat Osu if they’re key players haven’t gotten suspended
@@XxBonzeD4Kill4xX definitely not one of the GOATs, they didn't even win the Natty but they are in the top 75 I'd say
@flash 22 that 3rd string QB was really fkn good tho. Ohio State's recruiting is off the charts compared to Oregon
Robbie Johnston the size of osu players were way bigger compared to the size of Oregon’s defence 🤦♀️
@@jacklong5158 they cant be top 75 because more than 75 teams have won a Natty
Damn I miss this team. Miss this offense and offensive play calling. I really hope Cristobal can find an imaginative play caller unlike Arroyo. That guy drove me insane every time I watched a game!
From a hurricane fan, thanks oregon! Lmao
I’m here because it’s month 5 of quarantine and I miss college football :(
I was there. Amazing game.
Nico RSF me too, the tickets looked so beautiful
Best 17 minutes on TH-cam.....😁
Mariota= class act. Winston= not sure why he's not in prison.
Winston isn't a rapist the girl came out later and said she was lying which is why he isn't in jail
driveman lol
I like TH-cam
Yeah you know like that famous saying if you’re accused you’re automatically guilty no questions asked. People like you are the reason innocent people like Brian Banks are sentenced to a rape crime they didn’t even commit.
lol, no she didn't. Winston was protected by FSU, was pretty obvious. She never said she lied, at all.
He is in prison now lol
Easily one of the most satisfying games I have ever seen
Close game. Could have gone either way.....lol:)
Lmao
Buddy Tumbarello You gest buddy T. -------- Winston and the boys got a good butt whopping!
Buddy Tumbarello what do you mean close game Ducks did some demolishing.
It was close for majority of the game to be fair
I remember watching this game when I was like 9 😂 everything was going oregons way I was so happy
I am a udub fan and god damn those jerseys are nice
I'm a Duck fan, and while I still think our jerseys are by far the best, you guys have some dope ones yourselves. And I think from an unbiased standpoint that you should be #3 in the playoff, but eh. #GoDucks #Forever
I come back to these highlights every year or so just cuz I love watching Oregon stomp jameis and Florida state so much. Really miss this team -_-
Thank you Oregon for whooping on them bumass Seminoles !!!
This NEVER gets old. Go DUCKS!
and people say that Mariota sucks. NOT
Lets be honest he does
Really? I mean everyone says that Winston is better but when these two matched up who was better?
So let's be honest he doesn't suck. #Mariota
The only thing Mariota is better at is running Winston is better at everything eles
haha well you are right about that. he does know how to turn the ball over. i mean they went head to head and look who won. Mariota made Winston look like a piece of shit. and idk what highlights you watched but if you watched these same highlights, i think mariota proved himself as a better Quarterback overall.
It's 2021 and FSU still hasn't recovered from this beatdown.
People saying FSU should've won ...lmao nah Oregon just showed up and played harder and smarter...to me Oregon was the better team
Daniel Nava Experts that year had FSU over Oregon in the Natty. Saying Oregon would beat Bama but lose to Fsu lmao
the best oregon performance i’ve ever seen still
13:13 is my favorite part 😂
As an Oregon State fan I loved this game
this game wasnt as close as the final score would have you believe
Katavicta If you turn the ball over five time is the second half against a Heisman winning quarterback expect bad things to happen.
Ryan who cares? FSU played terrible and they deserved to get blown out. End of story. No need for what ifs
man this game was fun to watch
Best part was the 'noles went to the locker room sore losers and got ripped by Herbstreit. And also Jameis' fumble
From a Miami fan. THANK YOU OREGON, FSU has still not recovered 😂😂
Every Oregon score

I'm gonna miss this team😔
go ducks
the greatest game in Oregon football history!
Can't wait for when we finally have a bowl game against the Miami Hurricanes so I can beat the shit out of Sebastian the Ibis.
The funny thing is Marcus mariota beat Winston both times go ducks
It's funny how mariota is an NFL Bust and Winston isn't :)
+GamingRainbowMc Winston is better but mariota isnt a bust by any means this is coming from a bucs fan
+michael jasper I would have to disagree, they drafted mariota while they had a better quarterback in Mettenberger. Mariota didn't help the titans at all. Same as last year. While winston Helped the Bucs big time.
Fastballdreams lol he threw 4 TD passes in that game.
michael jasper we can all see that. anyone who hates on mariota is a sad bucks fan or a salty ass FSU fan.
I remember it like it was yesterday 😭 we coming home 🐥🐥
to be honest, who didnt see this beatdown coming
Nor the one that followed
The legendary Mariota who took Oregon to the Natty..wish him the best in the nfl
Lol Oregon looks good against a shitty team, but then got seriously exposed against Ohio State. 42-20 loss and +3 TO margin? If the TO battle was even Oregon would have lost 60-10
But who got nicer jerseys? Lol jk OSU is good still happy with Oregons season I didn't think we would even make it this far
OSU, is probation U. Cheaters. Should have been 2 years probation.
Why you have duck in your name lmao
teeduck aww is somebody mad that their team can't hang?
Jarred Barker ducks were pretty bad last year. Happens with 5 starters out and an injured QB. At least their an honest program with integrity. Unlike cheating OSU.
Something I don’t remember watching live. It was 25-20 with 7 min left in the 3rd. Then it was 45-20 with a minute and a half left in the 3rd. They put up 20 points in 5 and a half minutes
So glad FSU lost!!! WAR EAGLE DUCKS!!!
What is "War Eagle Duck"?
+Gabby Rine Just that. I don't like FSU bcuz they beat AU in the NC so I was cheering for Oregon in this game!!!
+Jordan Stuckey Bandwagon fan.
+Russell Westbrook and Cam Newton fan since 2010 How is that??
Jordan Stuckey Don't mind him. I'm pretty sure he heard the name Russell Westbrook and didn't know him until this June when he won the MVP
this is that type of football i love when a team shows their dominance even tho oregon lost to ohio state
Charles Nelson diving was awesome. Bama fan btw.
