I just got my first tattoo today, and this video helped me so much. Hearing that soothing Babish voice kept me smiling thru the pain, and the content provided good quality edutainment! Thank you so much!
sorry to say I just recently discovered the worlds of babbish. but I love exploring these earlier episodes. listening to Andrew just talk is nice and get what felt like impromptu knife cutting lesson. locomotive..yes.
If no-one has said so (I didn't read all the comments): a Coffey still is a large stainless steel used to produce grain whisk(e)y, which, at least in Scotland, is mainly used in blended Scotch whisky (with a proportion of malt added). Malt whisky is from a copper pot still, and is always produced from malted barley. The amount of malt whisky in a blend is usually higher in higher end blends (but sometimes also in blends produced by smaller, unknown brands). In Japan the rules are a bit different (some would say less restrictive, some would say less transparent). For instance, the Nikka Pure Malt is (in Scotch terms) a blended whisky: it contains both malt and grain, but, because the grain was made from malted barley it can say pure malt on the label (because this isn't a protected term in Japan).
This is such a good channel and you work so hard. I know it matters very little, and you probably won't see this in the sea of comments down here, but I really appreciate the effort you put into each and every video no matter what. I aspire to be this driven in what I do in my life and work. Thank you for many great recipes and trying out the disasters for us before we ruin our waffleirons.
For dealing with very hot foods like that squash, I learned a trick when I was a BBQ Pit Master... getting oversize nitrile gloves and wearing them OVER the heat resistant knit gloves. The knit gloves insulated and protected the hands from the heat while the oversize nitrile gloves protected the knit gloves from the juices. (or in my case wen I was working the pit, rubber gloves)
A friend used to pester me about onions in risotto, insisting the pieces should be the size of the rice grains, to avoid textural conflicts. I always answered, "I'm all for textural conflict! No textural peace in MY kitchen!"
With your oven burning so hot make sure it's using the right kind of fuel propane burns much hotter than natural gas which could easily make up for the temperature difference
5:50- Weirdest exchange I’ve heard on this channel, was he offended Babish blessed him? I could understand that, but still why do that during his live show. You could tell it was very tense/awkward conversation and Babish. I wish I had more context clues...
If you're really planning the call in option, and don't want the potential for people to fake the screening and then become really racist/offensive once their live you should take a hint from radio stations. Record calls before putting them on air, and remove the ones where people are just being idiots for attention. Screening calls doesn't work too well since people don't do it because they're jerks and will always act like jerks. They just wanna have a laugh and will fake their actions and speech to do so until you let them in, then let loose as fast and hard as possible.
Make "Buttersmear" from Amazing World of Gumball, season 4, episode name: The Compilation. Other choices of mine are the Joyful Burger or M'Guffin from Season 5, episode name: The Menu
“Water Bugs” are giant flying cockroaches. That’s what they are called in NYC. The name “water bugs” means different things in different places, but in NYC and general northeast they are terrifying giant flying nightmares.
Patrick Cruz here in Florida we call those ‘Palmetto’bugs. Our water bugs are a smaller, pear shaped roach that usually infests a structure when there’s say a water leak or an old fridge or damp cardboard. Interesting tho.
The assistant needs to up his Mike it's really hard to hear him. As for the TH-cam question... I'd say you could dual stream but Twitch is twitchy about that.

This is so relaxing to watch. Anyway, if I may have a suggestion, could you make something from Red Dwarf? Gazpacho, vindaloo, quiche... etc. If you don't know the series, it's definitely worth watching ^_^
asafoetida (hing) might be a good substitute for oniony flavour in dishes, it's a resin/dried up latex but it's similarly pungent, has a smell "reminescent of leeks".
im almost feel like that pressure cooker risotto is more of a pilaf hybrid. but i came to the vid from the recording of the Thanksgiving livestream, how far our boy andrew has come in 2 years
I'll have two Number 9's, a Number 9 Large, a Number 6 with extra Dip, a Number 7, Two Number 45's, one with Cheese, and a large Soda. Like right now, I'm hungry...
I'm supposing that the live stream had the mentioned camera angle down into the pot. Unfortunately, in the youtube version there is no such video. Is this just due to editing or oversight. Mmm possibly the 2nd camera was not hooked up to an actual recording module. I watch while doing dishes so if I hear a audio queues and no matching visuals, I tend to get annoyed. Still love the content. Keep it up!
Did no one mention Asafoetida as a onion substitute? People in India use it as a onion+garlic substitute but you must only use a very small amount because it’s very strong stuff
Mead is easy to make. At it's base level it is water, yeast, and honey. There have been well known excellent recipes for mead variations that include fruits or spices ranging from dry sparkling meads (not unlike champagne) to well rounded sweet meads to fruity desert meads. Basically if it can be done in wines, it can be done in meads. The flavor of plain mead is not like any other alcohol I have had and so it can be something of an acquired taste, but the same can be said of any alcohol. Likewise there is variation in quality, but the same can be said of scotch. As for other food based anime: Check out "Restaurant to Another World"... Whoever made it was clearly a food lover.
Doubt you're reading this by now but other anime about food include: - Restaurant to Another World - Isekai Izakaya Mostly about Japanese foods and how they're made.
You know it’s been a good night when you wake up to this 3/4 of the way through

Did you move with your roommate or did he move somewhere else? Just wondering because I really enjoyed the garbage plate episode with him.

I'm not an onion (bulb) fan...But I do enjoy the green tops, which still give you that flavour.
