  • Having issues with the throttle body on your S197 Mustang? Follow along as I learn from my own mistakes, actually troubleshooting my issue instead of throwing parts at it (I already did that).
    This is the throttle body cleaner I use: amzn.to/3wmuByA
    It seems to work great every time. I always seem to go through an entire can tho, so buy two.

    Update: It’s been a few months now, a little over 3k miles. The issue never returned. The weather has now turned cold, so mileage will not accumulate until the salt trucks disappear in Spring. So-far, so-good.

    07 4.6 L Eddie Bauer Exploder. , I decided to Seafoam spray clean the intake through the Throttle body. The result I believe is I messed up the TPS , I already have a brand new Cardone throttle body as I have been restoring this truck being a gift from my late father in law . Saw another vid that says Cardone uses a first gen faulty TPS on their build , so I ordered the robust recommended replacement TPS . But the breakdown before this was related to buying the cheap Chinese parts from amazon , I bought a mass airflow sensor and a fuel rail pressure sensor for under $60, and after getting the best mpg since I had it almost factory new mpg, @140,000 , she would not start well or even idle, so $400.00 later for the same parts from the dealer , gut punch 🥊, hit me again !! One more time . That’s about right .... I put on those parts and boom 💥!! Back to normal again .... so yea now I’m in the position you were in , I’m still going to replace the TPS but , I will follow your calibration procedures if that does not do the trick , sea foam had me put the spray tube in and through the butter fly valve and and reconnect the air intake with Mass AF , and hold a 2,000 rpm while spraying .... we didn’t get through half the bottle before the self inflicted breakdown occurred . Did this some cleaning two years ago without incident ... so I def think the TPS has failed .
    But I did upgrade factory exhaust with the mandrel bent Magnaflow Exh from the manifolds back ( eliminates the resonator) wow she sounds like a a Mustang now and the power I have gained puts a grin on my face every time I get to take her for a spin!! Makes me feel like a teenager again !!! Saving up for new heads and I have been watching a lot of Tranny rebuild vids for the 6R60 .... saving for a rebuild kit , if clearing the TCM tables does not provide smoother shifting ... well adding that to the queue ... thanks for the video !! Keep Cruzin !!! FJB. TrumpWon2Q2Q

      Great video and very informative. Just thought I would add to this , in case someone else was having problems after trying everything else . The only other problem if this did not repair, your issue …could be the accelerator pedal position sensor. The unit plugs in , and has two failsafe circuits On board inside your car pedal. The computer monitors the (2) potentiometer circuits for redundance. I watched a lot of videos online since I have a 2007 mustang. The wrench light and the limp mode Can be caused by multiple sensors in your throttle system. It takes an oscilloscope to see a quick dip A bit least one second… in voltage on one of the two circuits… that can’t be picked up by most handheld units at a dealership. It basically has electrical contacts that sweep two separate potentiometer Circuits. You could have a dead spot or a complete malfunction. It can sporadically happen, causing the wrench light to come on. It’s seeing (2) unexpected reading simultaneously. The ECM throws up the wrench and goes into limp mode for safety, thinking the car could be over accelerating, and chooses to stay in idle with no acceleration response. The TPS and the accelerator position sensor….. ALL communicate with the throttlebody and this is also something to check. I ordered a Complete replacement Accelerator pedal assembly …just plug in the connector Going to the ECM. All the parts stores sell this complete assembly and they are definitely low in stock because this is a big problem also.

      @@kellymeade4587I had this issue a year ago and replaced my throttle as a whole and it did fix the issue and here I am a year later running into the same issue thinking it could be the pedal and your comment gave me the extra boost I needed to go okay ya I think that’s more then likely the issue if not then I have a warranty on the throttle and I can replace both throttle comes with the sensors and all the good bits and if this doesn’t resolve it then I’m thinking imma have to get at the brain and check fuses

    All is good. It is possible you had a spot of Ware in your Petrol..Combine that with a mi-nute bit of sludge. Then you have a vehicle pregnant with a common Belly discomfort. Remember a solid High Speed run for five minutes,also helps discard carbon.Depends on the pace you drive in your area of space. Constant slow is not good..But I enjoyed the video.I save the good ones on "watch later." (like yours) Has been a life saver for me.

    When I first got my 2005 mustang gt the dealer put in a new battery. After that once the car got hot. The car ran rough at idle and would stall. Read around and found out cleaning it would help. I did that and haven’t had any problems with the car since 8 years later. I carbon clean it every few years now. So if your idle is rough especially after disconnecting the battery. Clean the throttle body.

    I just wanted to know if you know anything about the 07 mustang 4.6 l my throttle didn't work at all since I changed all the I have not changed that one yet I bet that's probably the one my throttle does not respond at all now like pushed to the floor don't do

    • @Just_Mark
      @Just_Mark  ปีที่แล้ว

      The throttle is connected by wires to the throttle body, through the computer. Not sure I understand your exact situation, but the stepper motor is on the right side of the throttle body (looking at it from the front of the car). That is either broken or the connector isn’t connected. Otherwise, it could be the connector on the gas pedal, or a defective pedal. If you take the intake tube off you can see the butterflies on the throttle body. Have someone turn the key on while watching the butterflies. It should make a noise and cycle open and closed.

      It did not polish up very well. Looks better, but it’s a cast part, not machined. So even after polishing, the metal is pitted. Having said that, I would still do it again.

    What if the voltage doesn’t change when you move the butterflys

    • @Just_Mark
      @Just_Mark  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you have a good connection and good voltage, but it doesn’t change when you open the butterflies, the sensor is bad.

      @@Just_Mark the voltage is within spec..new TPS..new MAF..BBK throttle body (been cleaned countless times). If I flash between tunes, its fine for few hundred km then comes back. Seems to happen most often after been driving for 30 minsor so.
      Been trying to fix this for a long time and Ive just about had enough.

    • @Just_Mark

      Zach Antonacci : I can’t really answer your question. What do you mean by “all of this”? Did you replace parts? Adjustments? Clear codes/memory? It’s just too difficult to tell you what your problem is without troubleshooting it myself. I’m not an expert. I did this video to show what a I did to fix my issue, and tried my best to explain why I was doing each step.
