Siren should have been on this thing, it is like a total hidden gem as well as Kuon and King's Field old FROM software games, except Siren which is Team Silent
Glad to finally talk about some of my favorite ps2 games with all of you. Back in the day when I played these, nobody was talking about them or had any interest in these games. Hopefully the games in this video can gain your interest.
I appreciate the way in which Reggie judges games. It seems like he is more focused on the overall experience and not just a single detail. It's pretty clear that he is willing to forgive less-than-perfect gameplay, adapt to the shortcoming(s) and enjoy the game for what it is. I have a similar attitude so his recommendations are typically on point for me. Awesome stuff MJ and Reggie!
The PS2 had a huge and great diverse library. What I miss was the amount of games in each genre. Tons of driving games, tons of adventure games, tons of RPGs etc.
I've just started collecting for the PS2, since it's my favourite console ever. I've already got over 100 games and I'm so happy! I love these types of videos and they'll help me find some more games to collect. thank you MetalJesus :)
8:56 My heart jumped when Regie said "free roam flying game" because I knew he was talking about Sky Gunner, one of my favorite games of all times. Probably my number one, actually. I've never met anyone who actually appreciated it.
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SKY GUNNERS FOR YEARS!!. I saw my brother playing this when I was little and always wanted to play it but never knew the name. I felt crazy like it was a game I dreamed about, but I swore it was real. Thank you!!
Acuravigor47 agree that's why I'm going for the full sixth generation consoles catalogs of games. All PS2, GameCube, and original XBOX. I want all games for this generation, and I'm collecting all full catalogs.
I played samurai western when i was a kid i rented it from a video store and loved it in recent years ive been searching for it but forgot the name due to how long its been thanks for showing it i can finally find it online and relive a part of my childhood :)
MetalJesusRocks: I played the first Urban Chaos that came out for the PlayStation 1. I also played The X-Files for the PlayStation 1, and the PlayStation 2. I wish I had all those games still. See, many years ago I was evicted from my mobile home and I lost over 95% of everything in my life, so this is why I don't have them. I had tons of PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games. I had to put them in a chest because I didn't have any place to put them, because I had so many. There wasn't any more space inside that chest to place any more games. It was packed full.
This video was fire! I was discouraged about picking up a PS2 and not knowing what to buy. From MJ and RR videos I now have a list of dozens of GREAT GAMES to pick up! Thanks for your hard work guys!
Such videos make me sad that I totally missed out on PS2 when it was around. But they also cheer me up, because I know that one day I will start a quest of getting whole PS1/PS2 collection for myself :) It''s one of my ultimate goals.
Well, that's the thing... I had no money for any console after PS1. I only had gaming PC that turned obsolete very quick and for very long time I didn't play any games. Until I started working and was able to afford myself new PC and PSP. And it all went uphill from there.
jakescukobyte I think you're way too late for legit stuff. I gave a friend time crises 2 with the gcon2 12 years ago and forgot he had it now I can't find where to get another gun
I love these hidden gems videos. One of my favorite parts of collecting video games is finding those odd ball games that didn't get enough cred at time of release. Especially the games that didn't quite fit in with the popular genres of their time, but now have grown into retro gems. Keep em coming!
Airblade is the shit. I got a demo disc with my ps2 and played the same level for a year. So happy when i found it cheap. Still working on it but im hyped.
Snootches Bootches i dont think so, thps was neversoft/activision, airblade was criterion. It 2 different companies but it definitely reminds you of pro skater
This episode has way too much Rock... MetalJesusRocks and now RadicalReggieRocks! It's refreshing to watch you two and experience your genuine love and passion for (especially retro) games. Thank you.
Oh boy do I have a list for you? -Mana Khemia 1 and 2 (make your items turn based RPGs) -The Red Star (Beat em up, shooter at one point?) -Twisted Metal Head On (people don't mention this one as much I think) -Tenchu Fatal Shadows (stealth killing ninja goodness) -Onimusha 1, 2, 3 and 4 (action game kinda like dark souls) -Eternal Poison (RPG final PS2 lifetime days) -Culdcept (RPG with cards) -Gladius (Strategy RPG, you need patience with the spell animations) -GrimGrimoire (Real Time Strategy) -Tales of Legendia -Phantom Brave (From the creators of Disgaea) -Maximo vs Army of Zin (Sequel to ghost and goblins, action platformer) -The Lord of the Rings the Third Age (Turn based RPG in the Tolkien world) -Saint Seya The Hades and The Sanctuary (Fighting games based on the anime) -Smuggler's Run 2 (Off Road Racing) -Tales of The Abyss -Brothers in Arms Road to Hill 30 (Squad Based Tactics FPS) -Colosseum Road to Freedom (Action, beat em up, RPG, rip off of the Gladiator Movie?)
Heh, I own Urban Chaos: Riot Response on the original Xbox and its perhaps one of the best FPS games the PS2 and Xbox got back then. It never gets old using the taser to set the Burners on fire or just slamming the riot shield on them. XD
acertainshape the better framerate is the more important upgrade tho. but ya, no matter what, everyone should try to get the Xbox version over the PS2 version (that's actually true for 99% of all multiplatform games back then) I hope the game becomes backwards compatible on One X... imagine the upgrade to 1920p!
I've always seen Burnout 2: Point of Impact as kind of a hidden gem on the PS2. Yes it comes from a popular series, but no one really talks about it with Burnout 3: Takedown and Burnout Revenge around.
that game is literally the reason why I blindly bought Batman Akrkham Asylum at launch. I desperately waited for Rocksteady's second game, and when it finally got announced I KNEW it had to be good, and would you know it, it was one of the best games of the entire generation and Rocksteady finally got the attention they deserved
Tokobot Plus, Airblade, Raw Danger, and Firefighter F.D. 18 are all amazing. Most of my collection was stolen by a vindictive ex, but when I got a PS2 again, Firefighter F.D. 18 was the first game I got for it. Picked it up at a local game shop for either $5 or $10.
I'd definitely recommend two weird quirky hidden gems on PS2, Spy Fiction and Cy Girls. And I know it's not really hidden, but damn you all NEED to play God Hand!!
The Getaway and The Getaway Black Monday! Great story, great voice acting, and all around great gameplay! Not sure if its a hidden gem, but it did get over shadowed by the GTA franchise. Still some of my favorite PS2 games!
Videos with Reggie always gets the like. Neo geo battle coliseum is great. Also the snk classics collection is slept on by alot it's a cheap way to get a TON of snk/neo geo goodness!!
Really think that Black was a very underrated game. Hardly anyone knows about it and it still feels really good to play. And 13 or XIII is really cool too. Comic artwork style and not at all easy it was overlooked by lots
Great list. I say play these: X-treme Express - a game about racing trains and battles alike BCV: Battle Construction Vehicles - gotta check this one out Evergrace The Red Star Mojo! Capcom's Everblue (amazing gem) Eternal Ring - psn for the ps4 so definitely a go and many more
My brother and I have always loved Ghosthunter and thought we were the only ones for way over a decade now... really cool you guys brought it up!! And it's getting on up there in price too!😀😀
Wow, this is a rock solid list of games that sound freaking awesome. I want almost all of them. The firefighter game I recall playing on a demo disk as a kid.
I too had the firefighter game on a demo disc and I completely forgot about it until watching this video. So many old memories of having all the demo discs and playstation magazines delivered to my house monthly.
Picked up Tokobot for sure! The unique mechanics look really awesome, and Reggie mentioned boss battles; so I'm really excited to see how the mechanics play into those. Great video as always!
I remember renting Urban Chaos at Blockbusters beating the game twice in one week before returning it and also since replaying it on harder difficulties can unlock more upgrades for your weapons and items such an awesome game. I need to find a copy of that game and I would love to see Rocksteady develop a non-Batman game and perhaps work on either a Superman game or make a original game.
sepp smiddi it's not. the games are not connected in any way, shape or form. Eidos had the IP trademarked and desperately searched for a fitting name for this game... they changed the name of it 3 times! it had an unknown peoject name, followed by the name they announced it with first "Roll Call", then they changed that to "Zero Tolerance" which would be the name it would go by for the longest time... and only a few months ahead of release did they change it to Urban Chaos Riot Response.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon marketing 🤷🏽♂️ I bet someone there actually thought that people still remember the original Urban Chaos and buy it based on the name alone
You can not understand how happy you’ve made me. For years I’ve been trying to find out a demo I played. I forgot what game it was on. I also forgot what game it was the demo for. All I remember was the level. I searched and searched and searched. But finally...I found it. Now I’m going to go buy Urban Chaos.
Reggie, I like your voice and face. My only wish is that you would get a better microphone (first and foremost) and camera / lighting (second priority). I would love watching your videos with just better voice quality and showing gameplay, don't even need to do filming, hence why it's lower priority. I think you have a lot of fans who would like to see your videos - just giving some constructive feedback.
I could watch this videos all day I love it. You could have you every game on the PS2 as long as you put gameplay footage with it and describe it the way you do I think it would be very popular. Reggie rocks as well he's my favorite.
Reggie is the man! Great finds here, a few I've never heard of as always! If they're not going to do backwards compatibility- sony needs to put out a new ps2 with hdmi out.
Sony already did released a HDMI PS2 it's called the 60gb backwards compartible PS3 which it also plays PS1 games. By the way greatest console ever made for its capabilities... Long live the 60gb ps3 model
I've never owned a PS2 in it's time, but recently was given a fat model PS2 by my older sister cleaning out her storage shed that was my nephews who cared less, so thanks for the video as this will give me some games to keep my eyes out for as I start to build a decent PS2 collection.
Firefighter FD18 is one of my favorite games just based on the fact that the “boss” fires are personified in a way, like each fire has its own attack patterns and they even have a death wail when you manage to put them out, wild stuff.
ASMR Gaming News not shadow of the colossus because it’s too famous now. But no one remembers any klonoa game besides the original on ps1 or the gba ones.
I think gamers know about Klonoa 1 and 2. One of them got ported to the Wii, and there might have been some other ports as well over the years. He’s definitely a game character that goes undiscussed most of the time.
Ooh! I love Urban Chaos, that thing was my first FPS in PS2, I binge played it when I was middle school like ages for completing the mission medals lol And the X-Files was pretty creepy when I played it, got like Resident Evil vibes mixed with cult, alien things and psychological horrors when the protagonists trapped in hallucinations
dude looking around a room with thousands of games to choose from, how do you decide which game to play? id probably take more time looking for something to play than the time it takes to actually play it.
DeathMetalRegulator - I have that same exact problem and it is a great problem to have. Trouble for me is that if I want to play a game on said system, I would have to find the box containing the system, unbox the original box, come t the system to the TV, find the game(s) in a different box, and finally I can play. 😂 By that time, I lose a little interest and play less than two hours, especially if it is an RPG or a game that I become stuck in or is too difficult. I am older now and I work a lot, so my time is more limited than it was years ago...sadly.
Same with me, I own thousands of games anf always gravitate to the same games I play. I rarely give chances to some of my games. Always playing the same games.
Champions of Norrath of course! Champions: Return to Arms, Drakan: The Ancients' Gates, Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, Hunter: The Reckoning: Wayward, The Mark of Kri, Bujingai, Onimusha series, Nano Breaker, Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, Nightshade, Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria.
I dunno if I'd consider the onimusha series a hidden gem. It was a fairly decently big game franchise during the PS2 era. I mean it wasn't MASSIVE or anything but it had a celebrity associated with one of them at one point and they were fairly big budgeted titles and they made at least 4 of them so they must have sold well. I mean the under 18 crowd might not know about them but ask anyone who remembers the PS2 era and you'll probably get a "oooooh ya, I remember those games".
Reggie did a longer Let's Play of these games on his channel here: th-cam.com/video/HrMkCe7CqXg/w-d-xo.html
MetalJesusRocks here are some good games tekken 4 and 5 and tekken tag tournament
Siren should have been on this thing, it is like a total hidden gem as well as Kuon and King's Field old FROM software games, except Siren which is Team Silent
Should give gungrave a play i remember it being badass. They made a sequel it was just as good both had awesome cinematic moments.
MetalJesusRocks no Fist bump?
MetalJesusRocks mustang the legend lives is a good game too

The PlayStation 2 was a great console and is still one of my favorites!
Amen!
Its possibly my favorite followed closely by ps1,super nintendo and sega genesis
I have a lot of ps2 games and a lot of magazines I'm from Portugal.
The best console of all time. It had a very huge library of games.
Just trying to figure out how to make it HD

Yes Dan Zena!!! Like a member of Wu Tang

-Red Dead Revolver
-The Thing
-Resident Evil Dead Aim
-Haunting Ground
-Rule of Rose
-Killer 7

I'm sorry but component isn't nearly as good as HDMI.
Sony already did released a HDMI PS2 it's called the 60gb backwards compartible PS3 which it also plays PS1 games. By the way greatest console ever made for its capabilities... Long live the 60gb ps3 model
This video is everything!!! Helped turn me on to some great games thank you
That Samurai game is pretty interesting.
Win32 Virut it is actually.. I finished it twice awesome gameplay sorta like God Hand mixed with dynasty warriors

My Hidden Gems:
Downhill Domination
Aggressive Inline
Whirl Tour
City Crisis
Flatout
ATV Offroad Fury
Tony Hawk's Underground 1 + 2
A hidden gem is a game that isn't overly popular in it's initial release. Since when was Tony Hawk's Underground 1 + 2 not popular? SMH
Ghosthunter looked awesome, the game play footage you all took blew me away. I didn't know the ps2 good create such good looking graphics.
Metal Yeezus: Sierra dropout (2004)
I've never owned a PS2 in it's time, but recently was given a fat model PS2 by my older sister cleaning out her storage shed that was my nephews who cared less, so thanks for the video as this will give me some games to keep my eyes out for as I start to build a decent PS2 collection.
I just want to know when us three are gunna get together. I miss our dinners ❤️❤️
Superhero Game Squad me too 💔
who has to pay?
Firefighter FD18 is one of my favorite games just based on the fact that the “boss” fires are personified in a way, like each fire has its own attack patterns and they even have a death wail when you manage to put them out, wild stuff.
I highly recommend playing Urban chaos on OGXBOX it's much better there FPS is more stable and it has much better graphics.
And the Xbox controller is better suited for FPS anyway.
The man, the myth, the legend Mr. Reggie and MJ
Could Shadow Hearts and Klonoa 2 be considered hidden gems too?
ASMR Gaming News not shadow of the colossus because it’s too famous now. But no one remembers any klonoa game besides the original on ps1 or the gba ones.
David .Barrantes he said Shadow Hearts not Shadow of the Colossus
Not Shadow the Hedgehog because it's too famous now.
I think gamers know about Klonoa 1 and 2. One of them got ported to the Wii, and there might have been some other ports as well over the years. He’s definitely a game character that goes undiscussed most of the time.
Nah the Shadow Hearts games were pretty well known jrpg series and Klonoa as well. Not popular but pretty known
Absolutely SICK Opeth poster in the background!
You should try a game called Bujingai, actings cheese but the fighting system is great.
Starring Gackt! This game had insane fighting and dope visual designs.... that final battle!
By that time, I lose a little interest and play less than two hours, especially if it is an RPG or a game that I become stuck in or is too difficult.
Radical moustache.
Manuel Patiño that’s an epic mustache
Seeing how stoked Reggie gets totally makes this video

Did I doooo thaaaat?
There are so many great-looking games that I hadn't even heard of. Well done ... and thank you!
Onimusha, smackdown vs raw 2007, starsky and hutch.
skin19head69 starsky and hutch suck
skin19head69 ONIMUSHA definitely agree!
L.A. Childhood nobody talks about the 5 online games.
I meant onimusha
I'm from Australia and I imported Sky Gunner and it's fantastic. Fun game. Way more underrated than Klonoa 2, in my opinion. Keep up the good work
I am 13 and just ordered a PS2 and these videos have really made me want to get a lot of games
