6th gen of consoles was the absolute best!!! It's the bridge betwen retro and modern, we all have fond memories of the Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox and Gamecube era
I think too the hardware spec was a good balance for most developers, what I mean by this is they were easy enough to make games for that most smaller startups could compete with the bigger guys, even just down to graphics, these days the amount of time/money spent just to make something look current is ridiculous, so the barrier to entry is so much higher. the fact that the PS2 library had so many games by so many companies, really shows this.. so many ideas were made into reality back then too, rather than being shut down for not being profitable enough due to again, that barrier to entry
Exactly, ^ that's one the biggest reasons why the 6th gen will likely never be topped again, and was the greatest era in gaming and I'm willing to write that down as fact. Anyway as i was reading through here in comments, well many speak of prices going up because of the video, ye sure, there is scum who wants to profit on this, but if ppl are smart and wont buy make a list and check back like in a few months or weeks time, the prices will be way lower. My guess.
First of all: Over 1800 games....................are you sure about that? To my knowledge, the library goes WAY over 1800 games. Maybe over 1800 US releases? Even that seems like a rather low number for a library that in total goes to the multiple 1000s. It has the biggest gaming library to date in terms of consoles after all. Second of all................maybe include these on the next hidden gems video (without including Japan exclusive games): - Black and Bruised - Bomberman Kart - Bujingai - Demolition Girl (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series" in Japan. Its Volume 50) - Demon Chaos - Dragon Sisters (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 87) - Everblue - Everblue 2 - Flipnic - Growlanser (being "Generations" or "Heritage of War") - Hot Wheels: Beat That - Kaido Racer - Kaido Racer 2 - Kengo - Legaia 2 - Mercury Meltdown - Puzzle Quest (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series".........on the PSP at least) - Red Ninja - Robot Warlords - Soul Nomad - Steambot Chronicles - Steel Dragon EX (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 37) - Stella Deus - Stuntman Ignition (Its also on the PS3) - Taxi Rider (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 48) - Tokyo Xtreme Racer - Trapt - Zombie Virus (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 95) - Zombie Zone (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 61)
That is correct. However, that list is far from being complete. Example, try to find "Dragon Sisters" on that list. You wont find it. Try to look up for the "Simple 2000 Series" on that list and you will only find 21 games from that series even tho there are 170 games from that series (at least 71 of those were released outside of Japan including the start of the "Onechanbara" series and even "Earth Defence Force"). The "Simple 2000 Series" is just an example, there are way more missing from that list. Another example that isnt part of the "Simple 2000 Series": "Psyvariar Complete". That game isnt on that list either. Look at the list of "GameFaqs". The list shows 100 games per page (62 pages total). Sure, inlcuded in that list are games that were canceled but if we count those out (lets make 1000 games canceled) and include that page 62 doesnt have 100 games listed, we are looking at around 5000 games or so worldwide. Thats why i find it a bit hard to believe that only over 1800 games were released in the US. But dont know, maybe there were just slightly over 1800 games released in the US. But still, the games that i pointed out in my original comment, maybe there is something in there that you might consider to be a "hidden gem", personally i consider every single one to be a hidden gem.
Oh dude, the PS2 library is massive, there are so many games on there to make your head spin. The best list i could ever find with (seemingly) all PS2 games was on Wiki.pcsx2 (but GameFaqs is a good way to go too) and they list 4999 games total..............and i could bet there are still some missing.
Finally a hidden gems video where I know some games in it! Especially Project: Snowblind and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. both of which were great games back in the day.

Steambot Chronicles if you haven't bro
Great game,too expensive for most
THANK YOU METAL JESUS.
I've been thinking of parts of "Project: Snowblind" for the longest time and trying to remember what game it was. I kept remembering certain weapons and locations but could never think of the game.
You have saved me. Thank you.
Quick note that the sequel to Asterix and Obelix Kick Buttix, called XXL 2: Mission Las Vegum, is not only a better game IMO, but it also recently got a remaster on Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. The console versions are sadly European exclusives, but the Steam version is available worldwide :)
Ah, Copyright Infringement: The Videogame
Seriously though, picked it up recently after watching ToG play it and it is just fun.
Another great hidden gems video. Thanks for putting this up.
Dude! I love seek and destroy! I played it all the time when the ps2 was reigning supreme. I'm gonna play it today now. Thanks metal Jesus!
I'd always repeat the second level just to watch the battle, and I did that too many times
Glad to see ya doing more hidden gems videos hope u got another gamecube and dreamcast video in the works
hidden games, or "decent games"
Everytime you make a hidden gems video my collection increase in value! Thanks for that!!!!!!!
When is doubt, Hidden Gem video out.
Your awesome man
Hopefully you get to a million subscribers soon. You deserve it
Wow the price of dual heart is already going up. Check on eBay.
$90 brand new on amazon... can’t be that expensive
@@residentevilclone ye but its temporal only. U need to wait a bit and itll go down, blown up because of video maybe i dont know. It was like with the gpus and the mining, now everything is back to normal. Hopefully this craze wont last that long it took a few months for gpu prices get back to +- normal figures. Anyway as i was reading through here in comments, well many speak of prices going up because of the video, ye sure, there is scum who wants to profit on this, but if ppl are smart and wont buy make a list and check back like in a few months or weeks time, the prices will be way lower. My guess.
So ready for another video of ps2 hidden gems. Picked up a couple games today I've never seen! Under The Skin & Ruff Trigger.
First of all:
Over 1800 games....................are you sure about that? To my knowledge, the library goes WAY over 1800 games. Maybe over 1800 US releases? Even that seems like a rather low number for a library that in total goes to the multiple 1000s. It has the biggest gaming library to date in terms of consoles after all.
Second of all................maybe include these on the next hidden gems video (without including Japan exclusive games):
- Black and Bruised
- Bomberman Kart
- Bujingai
- Demolition Girl (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series" in Japan. Its Volume 50)
- Demon Chaos
- Dragon Sisters (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 87)
- Everblue
- Everblue 2
- Flipnic
- Growlanser (being "Generations" or "Heritage of War")
- Hot Wheels: Beat That
- Kaido Racer
- Kaido Racer 2
- Kengo
- Legaia 2
- Mercury Meltdown
- Puzzle Quest (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series".........on the PSP at least)
- Red Ninja
- Robot Warlords
- Soul Nomad
- Steambot Chronicles
- Steel Dragon EX (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 37)
- Stella Deus
- Stuntman Ignition (Its also on the PS3)
- Taxi Rider (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 48)
- Tokyo Xtreme Racer
- Trapt
- Zombie Virus (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 95)
- Zombie Zone (originally part of the "Simple 2000 Series". Its Volume 61)
I think your right about just the US releases... Wikipedia is showing 2566 world wide.
Totally agree about Demon Chaos (Ikusagami), which is by far the most impressive game I've played on the PS2. Its developers are technical geniuses.
Wow dude! Pretty informative and holy crap I never knew there was so much into PS2 collecting! What an awesome topic to dive into!!
Oh dude, the PS2 library is massive, there are so many games on there to make your head spin. The best list i could ever find with (seemingly) all PS2 games was on Wiki.pcsx2 (but GameFaqs is a good way to go too) and they list 4999 games total..............and i could bet there are still some missing.
love your videos and personality man keep it up!
these games are gonna go up in price lol
Not his fault.
And?? Did you plan on buying one of these games.
Finally a hidden gems video where I know some games in it! Especially Project: Snowblind and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. both of which were great games back in the day.
Fair to say PS2 has the most hidden gems? I know I’ll have to check out Dual Hearts, that looks my speed.
Seek and Destroy was so much fun! I remember this as a kid.
Here come the price spikes. Thanks
Here comes the snowflakes.
Here comes the fanboys..
@@SteveVedder122 I have no problem using emulators, but PCSX2 drives me nuts trying to get the games to work properly. Wish someone smarter than I could get it running just as good as Dolphin.
Even thought about just buying a PS2NetBox, and being done with it.
So we're supposed to not talk about games we like because some greedy assholes increase prices? Fuck that and fuck them. Don't let ebay turds hold you hostage.
@@SteveVedder122
like there are any changes in the graphics between PS2 and PCSX2??
i don't remember it with GTA Vice City Stories.
And setting up controls really is a pain in the ass.
Also, you need a good PC to support it.
The Incredible Hulk UD and Rampage +Resident Evil 4 are my best PS2 games ever
More inflationary gems videos.
Naval Ops Warship Gunner. Solid gameplay but the ability to design your own warships and weapon layouts was really what made this game for me. From destroyers up to double hulled, rail gun battleships.
Great video metal Jesus, that tank game looks tight!
First time i hear someone say Extermination it's a hidden gem. I remember buying it and playing the shit out of it when i was younger. If I'm not mistaken i still have it.
Awesome video, MetalJesus! :) I absolutely LOVE the ps2 thanks for making this :)
Super happy to get another HG video. These and the pickups are my favorites.
Kill switch with the blind fire was so memorable! Loved that game.
Classic ps2. Another great video from MJR
Great selections Love the video!
I have just invested in a ps2 slim and started collecting some of my old favourites, found your channel and it has been very helpful in reminding me of some of the glorious games from that era :) Liked and subbed. I have just paid a ridiculous amount of money for Shadowhearts and Shadowhearts: Covenant but I don;t care, there are two of my all-time favourite RPGS :)
Nice!
Great video. I gotta say that you've talked about Project Snowblind in the past, I even bought it on Steam because of your recomendation. :)
PS2 has a ton of hidden gems. Gaming developers seemed more genuine with their games because once it’s released that’s it no DLC. Thanks for these hidden gem vids man.
Added 3 more games to my collection! Thanks as always!
Asterix and Obelix sure is a hidden gem. Its fun as heck. Got it for $8 at my local swap meet before the price hike on ebay. I can see why its going up so fast.
