Or maybe chell, while exploring and trying to survive on the surface since it's a whole new world to her, is found by remnants of combine or a part of the resistance which brings us to a half life 3. Maybe in a half life 3, Gordon freeman finds chell or sees that the resistance found a mute person with weird boots and an aperture shirt. Chell could lead them back to the spot she was released and somehow make a reference to a giant super computer AI that might be able to help if it doesn't kill them and there's a portal gun there. Remember that in portal 2, glados said she might take up a hobby and try to reanimate the dead. If they can bargain with glados, maybe she could bring back Eli Vance! Caroline is inconsolable - she doesn't know what to think. Cave is exactly the kind of man ruthless enough to do something like this. Cave pleads with her, claiming it was an accident and that he would never hurt her like that. The astronaut was extremely famous and very much a beloved figure. If news got out, Aperture would be ruined and all their research would be picked apart and sold off to the highest bidder. Caroline's love for science prevails and she chooses to keep hush about the matter. The astronaut's death is covered up such that there are no links to Aperture. She remains by Cave's side and is allowed to raise the child within the facility. Caroline feels numb and disassociated performing her duties, but she slowly starts to wake up as Aperture's fortunes start to slide along with Cave's sanity. A short while after Cave's passing, she finds out Cave planned to put her into the AI known as GLaDOS and she panics. She attempts to flee the facility with her daughter but is mortally wounded. As the AI isn't complete yet, they are unable to upload all of her mind and must attach additional cores to stabilize her new unhinged consciousness. Leadership of the facility falls to one of the lesser AIs, and the facility does the practical thing by making her daughter useful as a test subject over the next decade. Also making sure you can preload the older games so a new fanbase can catch up to the stories. Just how you can play hitman 1 and hitman 2 in hitman 3
im assuming youre talking abt massive head cave johnson, when im pretty sure that takes place in an alternate universe because in the portal 2 story he dies before being ported into a computer so instead caroline gets ported into glados tl;dr cave was supposed to be put into glados instead of caroline, but died beforehand therefore aperture deskjob is probably in an alternate universe ttl;dr cave supposed to be glados but he died, so cave not big head, alternate universe cave big head
You all presume the cave head isn't just another con of the system your placed in. Hey, someone's been tending that field you and 'a' cube are presented with at the end... Are you sure thats the first cube you met? There are other companion shapes you know...
When I saw those first 4 turrets, I thought the game was just gonna end with me dying, but the amount of confusion I felt when they all started singing is undescribable.
I honestly do not know how a Portal 3 would work since Chell's gone. Though perhaps you would play as a new test subject, either ATLAS or P-Body or even Rattman.
TheHasmith99 Yeah, sure, I'd like to come back to a place that contains a homicidal computer that tried to kill me twice. Chell's probably been scarred thanks to Aperture.
TheHasmith99 Well, I suppose that would work. I would still prefer a Rattman game since it would be technically a new character but still someone the community and GLaDOS is familiar with.
I just remembered being in awe at this ending the first time it happened! Out if context it doesn't seem that special, but there was something magical seeing this after all your trials!

This scene feels so rewarding after finishing the game. For some reason it feels like you as the player are being appreciated for taking the time to play this game and finish it
It's like they love her and are happy she grew up and are leaving her home to find her own destiny. Except the house was a giant facility of horrors...And she was a guinea pig
10 years later and I finished what was (regrettably) only my 4th playthrough. This song followed by Want You Gone feels so damn bittersweet. Moreso than it was when the game was fresh. Brought tears to my eyes, even. Perhaps it was because it's been a decade and I have so many good memories playing 2 as a kid, perhaps it was the tone of this followed by the message of the credits song. Maybe it was all of those factors combined. All I know is that it hurts as much as I love it, and that alone is why the ending will hold such a place in my heart until Valve finally fucking learns how to count to 3. Even now, after listening to it again I have to fight back the tears that well up when I hear the melody, but I wouldn't change it.
This exact scene is why the turrets are my most favourite robot of all games. I just find them so cool on how they’re adorable in their own way but they can defend themselves fiercely. If I could have a pet turret, it would one of the greatest things to ever happen to me.
There is this big theory that Chell died here and this was her send off to the afterlife. HOWEVER you can actually see these singing robots hidden and performing behind one of the walls in an early level of the game! Just the fact that both theories have their points of validations just makes this game that much more awesome

I beat the game and just sat there astonished thinking chell was about to die and then sitting there astonished again when the turrets started singing along with the end credits song

They said they stopped there titles at 3 because it would be concurrenting with their steam bussiness and it wouldnt be able to surpass all the games of valve.
But I think if they combine all their titles into 1 big game. It could work.
You could just choose which one you would play inside the game.
Continue the portal story from the portal perspective? Or from the half life perspective, Or basically the left 4 death perspective. What about all 3 in their respective order to clear plotholes.
Also making sure you can preload the older games so a new fanbase can catch up to the stories. Just how you can play hitman 1 and hitman 2 in hitman 3
And to think Cave Johnson is still down there to this day.
Scary when you think about it
im assuming youre talking abt massive head cave johnson, when im pretty sure that takes place in an alternate universe because in the portal 2 story he dies before being ported into a computer so instead caroline gets ported into glados
tl;dr
cave was supposed to be put into glados instead of caroline, but died beforehand
therefore aperture deskjob is probably in an alternate universe
ttl;dr
cave supposed to be glados but he died, so cave not big head, alternate universe cave big head
tttl:dr cave supposed b glados, he died, cave no big head, alt uni cave bg
You all presume the cave head isn't just another con of the system your placed in. Once you start to break out, his pictures on the walls dont even have the same face for 'Cave Johnson' so there's facility layered on facility...
Don't believe me?
Hey, someone's been tending that field you and 'a' cube are presented with at the end...
Are you sure thats the first cube you met?
There are other companion shapes you know...
What an absolute unit of a turret, that one is. The absolute legend, he is. You know the one I'm talking about.
i don't
The official name is the animal king
The sound that the King Turret makes, gives me chills every single time.
When I saw those first 4 turrets, I thought the game was just gonna end with me dying, but the amount of confusion I felt when they all started singing is undescribable.
Just the fact that this is the last important thing the turrets will probably ever do and it's so beautiful...
I honestly do not know how a Portal 3 would work since Chell's gone. Though perhaps you would play as a new test subject, either ATLAS or P-Body or even Rattman.
Why wouldn't you think that? She can come back, or maybe be put in a situation where she can use the portal gun outside of aperture
TheHasmith99 Yeah, sure, I'd like to come back to a place that contains a homicidal computer that tried to kill me twice. Chell's probably been scarred thanks to Aperture.
The Melon She wouldn't WANT to come back, she would either be forced to or kidnapped for whatever reason.
TheHasmith99 Well, I suppose that would work. I would still prefer a Rattman game since it would be technically a new character but still someone the community and GLaDOS is familiar with.
The Melon How about Wheatley crashes into a Backup Aperture science facility, and Chell grabs her portal gun and jumps in to stop wheatley?
I just remembered being in awe at this ending the first time it happened! Out if context it doesn't seem that special, but there was something magical seeing this after all your trials!
Why did GLaDOS program the turrets to do this song at the end?
Because she loves Chell so much ;-)
GLaDOS programmed the turrets because she is actually caroline, chells mother
***** WHAT
Ilya Crols because she is a monster.
***** Some of the lines could be used on a porno :D Just kidding.
After all this time...
*I still get goosebumps*

*The mission, the nightmares... they're finally over.*
Fives 😢
Turrets canonically all have the personalities of an opera singer and actively perform constantly, you can’t change my mind
The best game ending
So good
And now we know why turrets were created and why they sing all because cave went insane with immortality and genuinely can do nothing but sing his sorrows
It makes me want to go see an opera, then get extremely disappointed because it will sound nothing like this.
This holds true till this date, my dude
It is too good
Showed this to my grandmother absent all context and she cried. They hit on something here.

Rewatching this years later just makes me cry.
First time hearing it and every time after the fact. Knowing the lyrics just added sense to what the song was already making me feel
Not bad Valve, lyrics make sense too
Bart Coppens I don’t hear any lyrics in there.. someone tell me if I’m ear blind.

Thing with this song and the ending is that the amount of turrets and the king turret make you feel so hopeless
Thank you Mr Johnson for teaching them how to sing
I wish I could experience portal 2 for the first time again. What a powerful game.
It isn't over until the fat turret sings :')
Giant robot head Cave Johnson really taught them well.
Welcome back, people who just ended aperture desk job!
I legit yelled “ANIMAL KING” like a child at the circus once I saw this ending the first time!
when i saw the 4 turrets the first time i thinked i will die, glados lied to me,but, omg i love this game
This is one of the only songs that can make me go on the verge of tears. Most of all, I didn't even play this game.
AbsolutelyNothing dude you need to play it i cri everytime i hear this song
Play the game play it now
Did you play the game yet?
I cried...
Miłosz Milewski you are not alone bro

i’m on the verge of tears watching this shit now, this game was my absolute fave as a kid
Verge, nah each time its beauty has brought some tears out.
My stomach still gets upset, and I still get that feeling I can't describe. It's a really uncomfortable nostalgia, filled with longing, love, and that feeling of a past bliss. Thank you Portal 2, you will always be one of the greats.

@Giggetta beh oddio, non si capiscono perfettamente tutte le parole, ma che è italiano si 😅
Io sono rimasto di stucco quando ho sentito cantare tutti in italiano dopo che ho giocato tutto il tempo con l'audio in inglese
🔮u🔮
It still gives me goosebumps, even after all these years.
1:17 that part hits me right in the feels
King Turret
It gave you a sense of realism they messed up sometimes with made them a unique as human and shows that nothing and no one is perfect
Imagine the turret king shooting you... Plus if they make portal 3, you should fight the turret king!
Yeah, just to murder more turrets?
You monster
CALL IN GABEN NOW
If we never get a Portal 3 that's okay, we already got the perfect ending.
NO I DEMAND A THIRD
Something about the door opening at the end and Chell officially getting her freedom is so satisfying
When you realize glados just sent Chell into her untimely demise from the combine's hand
When I beat this for the first time I was spellbound by this. I was like "Damn, I'm gonna miss that murderous AI.."
i played only portal 2 and it will never get out of my heart
The only opera I am willing to listen to that doesn't drive me nuts.
This scene feels so rewarding after finishing the game. For some reason it feels like you as the player are being appreciated for taking the time to play this game and finish it
Best "good bye. Thanks for playing ending" ever!
This made me cry not gonna lie 😭
That was one of the best endings in history of gaming 👏
one of the most unsettling endings in all of gaming
How????
Atomic Robo Tesla a certain degree of inherent evil
Hazztech But the Turrets are just singing to you.
Atomic Robo Tesla you missed the point.
Hazztech No, I got the point, but at this point in the story they're no longer threatening you and have defaulted to their secondary lullaby function.
i love how literally every different variant has a different noise, even the animal king, making a loud bass sound.
I cant help but love glados, she was my only friend, I saved her life and she saved mine :)
Who here sh!t them self when they saw the turrets, because I did.
That was ending a game in style. Something Bioware has forgotten.
This was made by valve my dude
It's like they love her and are happy she grew up and are leaving her home to find her own destiny.
Except the house was a giant facility of horrors...And she was a guinea pig
This hits hard when you think about the theory that chell was cave & caroline's daughter
Even now, after listening to it again I have to fight back the tears that well up when I hear the melody, but I wouldn't change it.
i will NEVER forget this awesome ending.
11/10 ending to a 10/10 game
This exact scene is why the turrets are my most favourite robot of all games. I just find them so cool on how they’re adorable in their own way but they can defend themselves fiercely. If I could have a pet turret, it would one of the greatest things to ever happen to me.
It Brings Tears To My Eyes... Wonderful Song...
There is this big theory that Chell died here and this was her send off to the afterlife. HOWEVER you can actually see these singing robots hidden and performing behind one of the walls in an early level of the game! Just the fact that both theories have their points of validations just makes this game that much more awesome
I’d like to know more about this theory, where can I find info about it?
Wait....waIT A SECOND.... GOODBYE MY DEAR.... WAIT A SECOND....
THE GOODBYE OF A MOTHER OH MY G
This is the song that’s going to play while humanity blows itself up
Nah, this will be the song that play long after the last of man is gone and the world has healed
i remember playing this game as a child and crying when i beat it and heard the song, i still play the game repeatedly to this day and remember my childhood everytime i play
I still remember playing this the first time, it was the first valve game I played and had fond memories of the game, still brings a tear to my eye playing the game near the end
Honestly that was the best ending to me of all time, when i decoded what it said i cried and it revealed so many secrets
I cried here when I beat the game myself.
I still don't know why but it felt right
Same here. I can’t explain why but did. What a nostalgic game.
“Killing you? Is hard.”
When Glados said that, she was spewing a bunch of bullshit because during this video she could have killed chell a thousand times over and we wouldn't be able to do anything about it because we didn't have our trusty portal gun with us at the time. (By the way I got the joke, I am just saying that the amount of turrets that she had was insane and that there would be no way to escape that without the portal gun)
@@coldbluestreak489 I believe she meant it as mentally.
@@jakekarreofficial oh, damn
I cry every time I hear this knowing there will never be a portal 3
Valve can't count to 3 :'(
They need some help
Portal 2 and Team Fortress 2 is already perfect now we need Half Life to be perfect because there is literally no ending i mean it keeps going
Completely blew me away by this ending
I beat the game and just sat there astonished thinking chell was about to die and then sitting there astonished again when the turrets started singing along with the end credits song
