I think the desk would be good by the window. I always have had mine by the window an the natural lighting is so much better than staring at the wall! I did the wall before and have always gone back to window!
If you're unsure about furniture placement and don't want to move stuff around (because it's tiring and you don't want to ruin your floors), here's a tip from my dad: draw the shape of your room, to scale but obviously smaller. then cut the furniture pieces, also to scale and smaller by the same factor. now you can move stuff around, see what fits with doors, walkways etc. :)
My dad is obsessed with this kind of thing. When he was building his house, he make a to scale version of it with like corrugated cardboard. When made like toilets and furniture. He still has it, and they moved like 6 years ago. Lol. He’s so silly and I love him for that
Congratulations!! An idea for the entry way, you could get a wall mounted shelf (they’re like $10-$15 from ikea) and make it the same height as the counter/dishwasher so then you can open it all the way and still have a place to put keys! ☺️ Hope that makes sense!
You could put the trash can in a cabinet under your sink. There are some compact ones to be specifically put under a sink, e.g. Ikea Hallbar (you can even get into recycling, though I know US people have rather "relaxed" approach to recycling).
That could be an idea...I have a super nice trash can that's bigger that i bought for my last place and I loved it so hopefully I can make it work...and don't worry in Oregon we are very very serious about our recycling 😂

I have a small trash can that fits perfectly on one side of the garburator under the sink. Since I take the trash out regularly it never is an issue with smelling and I love that I don't have to see it or have it take up any space in my apartment.
I keep mine under my sink and it’s great. I have a cat, so infrequently take the garbage down anyways. So I combine them to make less trash and it never smells in my place of garbage or cat litter

My desk is against my window currently and I really like the lighting from my window, especially in the winter when the light is reflecting off the snow, but I also think you and Leah could definitely make anything work. The lighting is so much better, when I need to do zoom calls, I don't have to worry about wonky lighting. And too, it gives you a more open headspace because you're not staring at a wall haha 😂 you can look out and enjoy the views!

You can use the app that comes with the apartment to control the thermostat- ask the leasing girls about it. The app also controls some of the lights on your new place and unlocks your door. Most of those features are also compatible with Alexa, if you’re into that.
The place looks great! I think your bed would look great against the wall of your closet and maybe a shelf on the long wall next to your bed instead of a nightstand. A desk could work next to your kitchen and table and chairs by the window. I am excited for moving and seeing your space come together. I hope you have a great week!

My Portand apt has a similar layout, and I put my trash can in the coat closet with my broom, swiffer, etc. and use the top shelf for storage - esp since you probably have enough room in your clothes closet for coats!

I think desk in front of the window works there because you don't have a very hot and long summer. Just keep in mind cable management and where your outlets are located. Look into floating shelves and these floating box shelves things that IKEA has. And if you really want that tv stand, you can pop your tv on top of something else for now. Seems pointless to buy one you don't love and later decide you actually want the one you truly wanted. That's just a waste. And two nightstands would definitely look crowded, plus it's just you so you don't need a second one. You could put a corner floating shelf on one side if you really wanted something to balance it out a bit more. Maybe put one of those pink salt lamps for some added mood lighting too if you go the corner shelf route.
Heads up about that fridge, it’s literally the worst lol (it was the only option we had for our home), it will randomly spit out ice so I recommend putting a rug or mat under it 🤪

I had a similar situation where the desk I wanted wouldn't have fit in my bedroom along with the rest of my furniture, so I moved it out to sit in front of the living room window and it's the best decision I could have made! I also like being able to leave my room as a place for sleeping only, and have it as a place of relaxation I can enjoy at night when I need to wind down. I think having your desk in front of the living room window would be a really cute look for this apartment!

I would wait for the TV stand that you really want if I were you! I've been in similar situations and waiting for my dream furniture piece and really enjoying it is more fulfilling than buying something quickly because you don't love it but feel pressured to have one ASAP. I say wait for your dream one to come!
I agree it is sorta worth it...I might get a cheaper one to suffice while I wait and then if I am still in love I will get the new one ordered and have something to look forward to!
For the question of the day: I feel that if the TV stand is what you feel you like the most and makes your new house look aesthetically pleasing then you should wait for 4 months for it to come. Till then you could probably have a temporary fix

I don't know what to tell Leah. Changing job's from a sure pay check to one your building. I like Oregon because there's no Sales Tax there. Plus i keep thinking of all the Fish a person could catch being close to the Ocean like you are.
If you out your bed against the little wall so its facing the window I think you would have so much more room and a better set up for a desk, which you'll prolly be using a ton now you are in nursing school. Idk I always felt better working with a view and with the sunlight

My first apartment the kitchen was right when you walked in but it was also an efficiency apartment. It was also quite small.

I would wait for the TV stand that you really want if I were you! I've been in similar situations and waiting for my dream furniture piece and really enjoying it is more fulfilling than buying something quickly because you don't love it but feel pressured to have one ASAP. I say wait for your dream one to come!
I agree it is sorta worth it...I might get a cheaper one to suffice while I wait and then if I am still in love I will get the new one ordered and have something to look forward to!

For the question of the day: I feel that if the TV stand is what you feel you like the most and makes your new house look aesthetically pleasing then you should wait for 4 months for it to come. Till then you could probably have a temporary fix
I think you are so right! I did find one I was semi happy with, so I feel like I could get it and then if I don't like it, I can save up and buy a replacement later!
I don't know what to tell Leah. Changing job's from a sure pay check to one your building. I like Oregon because there's no Sales Tax there. Plus i keep thinking of all the Fish a person could catch being close to the Ocean like you are.

If you out your bed against the little wall so its facing the window I think you would have so much more room and a better set up for a desk, which you'll prolly be using a ton now you are in nursing school. Idk I always felt better working with a view and with the sunlight
