Nice! I think this will be my Daughters first bike. I would like to see some better protection for those coolant hoses. Love the Honda Racing shirt while talking about a Kawasaki.
very nice i have the same bike with slightly different setup, changed bars renthal with high rise, exhaust, front 14 tooth sprocket, different mirrors and rear rack instead of tool bag. And I found changing exhaust but keeping a baffle and screen in you dont need to mood the air box or efc, sounds good and runs better, and i love the tires, i might try a set of Dunlap 606's but the factory 605's are doing great, keep riding!

I have a 2018 bone stock air induction system and exhaust. Wondering if you could tell me which exhaust you put on yours so that you did not have to modify air intake or EFC? Also switching to a 14 tooth front sprocket, what did you notice different versus stock? I'm debating between 14 and 13 on mine.
Tin Roof CycleWorks 😂 I really want one of these but afraid I may be a bit tall? 5’11. Just want something small to bop around town on without breaking the bank. Seems like a great choice.
A beautiful bike. I just bought one. It's sitting in my garage waiting to get registered. I was ;looking for the reserve tank switch. Lol Doesn't it have one? Where is it? lol...AND while i was looking. Ya, I looked on the right side too. On the right side there is a nickle size dial with a small hole in it. What is that for? Thanks a lot. Great video.
no reserve switch....with fuel injection you don't have a petcock like on the older bikes, but you got a fuel light, when that goes on you have about 30 miles to go get gas!! not sure what dial you are referring too, and don't have my bike around to check sorry!
Nice bike and good work explaining everything. I just bought a 2009 KLX250 and looking for recommendations on bar set ups. I like yours and make go the same route. Thanks for the info
Thanks, I would recommend checking out SW~Motech Barback, they can be mounted to shift the bars forward, I have not used them but they look like a better solution, let me know what you end up with. note: I had to move the speedo cable a bit on the fork so that the cables would fit! other than that all the cables had enough slack
Thank you for your review. It was informative and enjoyable. I noticed you modified the license plate holder (cut off a portion) and relocated the plate. It looks really cool. Do you have a vid of what you did. If not can you explain in some detail how much you cut off and how the plate is attached ? What a great idea and it looks great !
Ed, i should have covered that in more detail. I don't recall exactly what I did there. I remember it being quite simple with no extra parts. I will be picking up another klx soon, i will make sure to capture each mod as i do it.. Thank you for checking out the video!
@@TRCAdventures Ok Great I look forward to your new video on the new KLX. I was considering getting the CRF300L however I have slowly fallen for the KLX. Through my research, with the long KLX heritage, the Kawasaki is most likely the better bike for me. I have a preference for better suspension that comes stock along with a bike that was initially designed for off road use. I think Kawi have slowly tweaked the bike for the better to its current spec. Thanks again.
Thanks, the bike is so much fun! I have three other bukes but this is my go to on a daily basis, because the fun factor is so high at a much lower speed.
Look at the T-Rex skid plate coverage great powder coated black fit's in to your bike recommend the package deal with side guard and front and rear sliders with your hang guard you will have the best 100% protection for the bike
I wonder if you can haggle some of the dealer fees since they don't tune the suspension. Shouldn't that be a part of the egregious "set up" fee they charge?
its amazing what we let them get away with, new bike dealers are getting a larger portion of there profit as a set up fee, this should include setting the bike up for the rider, not just unboxing the bike and adding 1/2 quart of gas so it will start and hopefully get you to the nearest gas station.
Just got the 2020 KLX 250 camo love it ....question from a newbie wanna do the Rox risers and KTM stock bars but will all the cables have enough slack to accommodate that
yes and NO! I used Rox risers and the KTM stock bend bar, and yes they worked perfect! I had to slide one cable up in the fork bracket. with that said I had the Rox risers to move the bars forward more than up! moving the bars straight up with the rox risers, will not work with the stock cables. a better install is a new top clamp adapter that moves the bars forward, (Rox-offset block not sure of the brand but someone stopped by the shop and that is what they had done, looked to be a better option, as the bars, for me just needed to be moved forward! this is what I would do next time! www.amazon.com/Rox-Pro-Offset-Block-Riser-Reducer/dp/B0056TTLDW
Thanks for the video! just had my new KLX250 Camo delivered yesterday. Can you tell me the model of hand guards you have there and if they would have fit the stock handle bar or not? thanks!
the Hand guard is the Acerbis X Factory Handguards, to fit the stock bars you just need to make sure you order the mounts for the smaller bar they should fit
@@TRCAdventures UPDATE: FWIW The stock handlebars that I have do not have a 'tube' construction. They have thick metal (alloy?) walls that has a narrow hole. I got lucky and was able to tap it for a 1/4" - 20 screw - without drilling and fastened the guards that way. thanks again guys
One question like me a ton of bikes assume you have keep one big bike what made you go with the KLX250 over all the other ones in it's class. The biggest down fall is that they don't come with the power from the factory, nothing new but there seems to be no answer to get the full potential out of the KLX250/300 which almost every bike out there you can, which is disappointing if this bike could which I think could and shoukd pull 33hp it would be were it should be. Your thoughts on the new KLX300SM and the factories moving more towards that in the future understand the EU 🤡 5 is killing the trail bike/supermoto except in the US.
Well my main bike is a KTM 1090 adventure R, In the 250/300 class the LLC has the best package at a fair price, the KTM 350 would be the performance bike in the class that with an ecu upgrade produces some amazing power, but that is at a very high price. The simplicity and low price of the KLX makes for a great all around bike. The 300 really doesn’t bring with it much if any more power, and probably not worth an upgrade. The one bike in the class that did receive some great updates is the CRF300l RALLY, with a larger tank, and different gears in the gearbox, but it still lacks the suspension that it really needs and the klx has. The reason I like the klx over all the others, is suspension power delivery and ergonomics. I go through a lot of bikes so I’m never really riding the same bike for more than a season but the klx is still one of my favorite bikes. At this point the KTM 1090 adventure R is my favorite bike if all time!
It's been a while since I did that bike, but I think what I did was used the top holes for the bottom of the licence plate and cut everything below the plate off. I don't have the bike anymore to go look.
I don't think so, just pulling the snorkel out takes less than 30 seconds and does not damage the air box, you. Would have to drill slot of holes to accomplish the same thing.
Were did you buy your led light for your klx 250, could you have a link were you bought it and the price paid, I would appreciate it so much, thank you....
that bike has the Cyclops LED conversion, we had it sitting around in stock, so im not sure of the price, probably $120 its a high price for a $30 LED bulb and $2 plug, so I just make my own now, Auxbeam for the bulbs and amazon for the plug and pig tail CHEAP EASY and better than Cyclops. I will do a Video on how to make one soon!
Hi, Thank you for klx content. I just attempted to put the same bars on my klx. ran into an issue with the Throttle housing. Seems like the bars are to wide and there is a gap on housing. Did you run into this issue?
You will need to drill the bars for the placement tab on the throttle side and the clutch side. In each housing you will find a small tab in the inside that lings up with a hole on the old bar. You will need to make your own on the new bar
Also, just a quick note, sometimes, when you don't drill the whole and try to force the housing closed it will damage to tab/plastic pin. In this case you will no longer need to drill the hole, but you will need to trim the tab/plastic pin off. Then wrap the bar at that point in some electrical tape to keep the throttle tube from slipping and re attach. The little plastic pins are to keep the housings in place, so they dont turn when you turn the throttle.
Oh... I'm so glad I found your vid.... This is answering a lot of my question. And damn... your bike looks so good, so clean, like it was waxed... I have to check your other videos to see if you have a specific cleaning methodology. My KLX 2018 looks like shit next to yours .

I really dropped the ball on that one, should have listed the parts, bike has moved on to a new home, I would need to dig up the parts list. I will make sure to do that next time, thanks
Pulling the snorkel out opens the air box 2x the size it is normally, that is all that needs to be done. With that mod you must run a fuel controller to richen the fuel or the bike will run far too lean.
No, but I did have to slide the cable up in the fork mount, just to keep it form getting tight at full fork extension. just take care to check all the cables at full lock and full extension of the forks, you may find that you have to re route cables slightly to keep everything moving freely
