Great Vid. I also live in CO. I currently have a Tenere 700 but want to add something lighter and more nimble for exploring the unknowns in CO. This 250 sounds too underpowered. What would you suggest for a light dual sport with enough oomph but still light, cheap and simple?
I was pretty amazed with the CRF450RL. WR250R is a lot better than the KLX250/300. felt almost as light as an enduro when I test rode it. Anything passed those, you might want to look at the KTM 350 / 500 4 stroke or a plated 300 2 stroke to trail hop around CO. You being in CO, you know our situation with trails lol and how they connect
What I don't like about the Drz400s, which I have had a chance to ride, was it is heavier than a 250 dual sport, except for maybe the crf250f rally and that the seat and between the legs is so dang wide. It doesn't have that tall of a seat height, but the width makes it seem taller than it is.
Have you ever tried the drz400e its pretty different vs the drz400s the older models. The only thing i can wish is the wr250f had the drz400 engine lol

@Justin Rios i personally think carbs are fine if you mostly ride in a constant elevation. if you ride like me anywhere from 5,000 ft to 14000 ft carbs suck. but they also do have lectron carbs which really makes a drz worth it vs still your avg market dualsports.

@@RWWRENTAL right, mine has the dyno jet kit, and the full FMF Q4 exaust right from the header. And I love it, load of power compared to my buddies 19’ 250s
Which KTM are those?
Simply the best bike.
Great video! What bike would you choose for doing the transamerica trail?
thank you! I might be using my 701 enduro for that one. depending also on what I do with the DRZ400.
5’8 and 32” inseam. Is that too short for this 36” seat height? How much sag is there? I’m 175 lbs
Yes.. Yes I should 🤟🏽
How would one of these be with an occasional passenger?
tbh might be gutless ha ha. also a bit uncomfortable tbh. my wife rode with me in the back but I am going to make a video about it now that you mentioned it!
@@RWWRENTAL awesome cant wait!
Had a fellow rider hop on the back for "test" purposes. It was something we both agreed we would never mention again. Bit intimate. Wasn't an engine power issue more an ergonomics issue, looked silly.
Great Video
Yeah... you'll be fine.
I live and work in Denver Metro Area but I've been thinking bout using a KLX for commute, trails and motocamping. Do you think it can be a good all year bike? (w/ light winter use) Also do uk any good trails for beginners?
for back roads for sure! if you plan highways, I would forget it, esp in CO. its a very gentle machine. KLX by far exceeds on trails. I can do 770 all over rampart with no issue on the klx250
That was a fennnnnntasticcccccccccccccc ride of the day , Mate .
How about Suzuki DRZ450 and Yamaha WR 400 ....Please .... ??? compare to this KLX250 ....????
Thanks buddy! I have the drz400 and I definitely would like to do a comparison soon. I, currently building my drz400 then will compare them
it worx! every day.. everytime... everywhere.. like my super sherpa.. but. a little bit better.. nice bike
Most gorgeous terrain of any video. Where are you?
Thank you! this is out in Colorado and possibly a mixture of Utah
@@RWWRENTAL you sold me on this bike. It will be my first motorcycle ever. I hope it’s not too heavy for a medium size female rider. Thanks for the EXCELLENT review.
@@originalfallinggirl this is a great entry level machine! it has one of the tamest power and most gradual linear power delivery from any machine. The weight might be an issue if you do drop it, but if you search up tricks on how to pick up the machine it will help tons. but also the weight of the machine adds great stability, esp at higher speed. Happy riding!!
@@RWWRENTAL I can’t thank you enough for your video and responses to my questions. I subbed. I’ll put some videos up when I get mine to show some South Carolina terrain. Have a wonderful day!
This might sound dumb but is this good for a first bike
oh yes the KLX250 is a perfect starters bike! I would def recommend it!~
I’m moving up from a 110, do you think it’s still a good one?
As long as you have road skills, this is a good upgrade that shouldn’t be too much to handle at all. If you are buying new, I would definitely recommend the new klx300, but the klx250 is still good to buy used for a bit cheaper.
@@ZSmith-yy4lv thanks man, I’m about 5’ 6” and looking at the 300 sm
Sounds like you need to rejet your carb
Still can’t decide between this and a Drz...
If you are one to want more power or looking for a bike to keep for a long time ill look into the drz400e or mostly street then the drz400s
@Justin Rios i personally think carbs are fine if you mostly ride in a constant elevation. if you ride like me anywhere from 5,000 ft to 14000 ft carbs suck. but they also do have lectron carbs which really makes a drz worth it vs still your avg market dualsports.
@@RWWRENTAL Thanks for the video and this comment. Think I just figured out my next purchase. DRZ it is.
интересное видео, хотелось бы узнать как по ремонту?
I'm 5'8 do you think I'll fit on this bike?
Yeah.. you'll be fine. I'm 5'7"
Has it got a fuel gauge
thats the bad part about the KLX250 no fuel guage. just a light that lights up when its running low
Where is the light gauge when fuel is low... haven't seen it & friend lost my owners manual.@@RWWRENTAL
I’m 5’9 you think I’m to short
no you are a good height for the KLX250. they also sell lowering links
Is it a kickstarter?
Creat video content.
I've been watching your videos for 6 or 8 months now and I enjoy your live video/audio content.
This next part is kinda negative but I don't intend it to be mean spirited, just my opinion/advice. FWIW (My voice sucks, no matter what I do with it.)
I just cringe at your Everide style voice over. Your natural voice on your videos is great, just use your own voice and excitement levels. Leave "puking in the mike" for DJ's. lol Like I mentioned, your natural voice rocks when you don't dub over the video!
thanks so much for your support! Not really trying to be like everide ha ha he has his unique style and of course much larger. Def going to try using more of just gopro and mic on things I explore
@@RWWRENTAL Thanks for taking my suggestion in the spirit I intended. My take might be all wrong but I feel people are their best when they let it come naturally.
Stay safe & have fun!
I was a little disappointed in this klx250 review, because most of the time you were showing trails from a husky, it was kind of like saying heres a vanilla ice cream only handing me a chocolate one, meh
Just get a 650 and only use 250 of it until your ready for the rest.
Such a underpowered over weight bike . Only kept mine for a few months .Good looking bike though
its a great learners bike, but great for someone who is not looking for power and want a relaxed bike. Maybe ill revist the KLX when I am 70 years old if I am able to hahahah
Good video, respect from russia)
Thank you very much!
seriously if you want hard core buy a purpose built bike eh .//
i already have 2 ktm racing bikes
Say hello to klx 300 fuel injection
great video and wonderful bike...well done...if you want to visit our channel you are welcome..bye
Get you a dr650 and take that pig anywhere you want to go, lol
haha dr650 is great! its pretty top heavy though. but have the 701 enduro now as well. both great bikes!
@@RWWRENTAL yeah she's a top heavy muffin top piglet for sure, but she is great on the road compared to a 250 and a cheap date compared to the European brands, and surprisingly capable off road as long as you don't have to pick it up a bunch. I agree though that carburetor would suck in the higher elevations. I've got a tm40 pumper carb to put on mine and it supposedly really helps alot of the shortcomings of the stock carburator
Worst dual sport I owned.....
Why??????
Great! At least I found somebody who got Kawasaki KLX250 and Suzuki DRZ-400S. Please advise me which one to buy as a first first bike (I will be buying new one) ? Please! Some explanation is welcome.
haha both are great bikes with some pros and cons. need a little information before you I rcommend something. High usage? elevation? plan on doing a lot of offroading or primarily offroading? do you plan on fluctuating elevation often? on avg how long do you plan to be on the roads
@@RWWRENTAL To use maybe 5-6 times per month to ride to the mountains for shooting,1400-2000 feet high, heavy off-road. Usage - 75% of time of-road. Also the bike will be used to quickly arrive to any part of the city with drone to make a video of current situation. Some journalist activity. Probably will be necessary to mount some holder to carry long-barrel rifle which does not fit in backpack. Also I'll be lazy in term of servicing the bike. To be honest I'm also looking at Honda CRF 250 Rally.
@@truesightgrabberlucky you got a reply to help you choose lol
What way did you end up going ?
@@W3TFART electric own built bike. I changed 3 already.
@@truesightgrabber so you didn’t go for a motorbike?
E-bikes are good if you don’t need to travel to far .
