  • Stew red beans is a popular side dish in a typical Trini Sunday Lunch. Using the basic Trinbagonian mirepoix of onion, garlic, ginger & pimento is a good starting point for a great final product.
For this recipe Baidawi adds a few extra ingredients to create a delicious stew red beans using a pressure cooker. The addition of all-spice aka pimento sneaks in some Jamaican flavors to this dish. This recipe does not require overnight soaking in water and/ or baking soda.

Never liked red beans until I started to make it. Added to all the ingredients that I use, I add coconut milk. Mmhhmm

I love red beans..but mine must be soft and gluey😄😄 and I prefer to use the whole thyme and just fish it out afterwards..to use ALL the flavour you know. That creamy cassava tho was the icing on that plate👍👍👍

I was waiting for this! Tried the lentils the other day and it was a hit (even though I didn't stew it) so I was hoping this was coming too. Keep the legumes coming! I am switching over to plant based and these videos really help me to stay on track!

Luv it! .. I soak the beans over night instead of pressure cooking and i also use coconut milk. I was like thinking ..Gosh! some soft boiled cassava would go well with that beans when ...BAMM!.. the cassava showed up in your video. Yep, i luv it! 😄

I don't have a pressure cooker so i soak my peas in warm water with a little baking soda, then wash and boil. But I love how u make this....just like my grandmom did...😋😋😋
I see people recently browning down d peas with sugar thought this was so wrong....so u continue teaching us🤣👍

Great recipe!! But plz be careful when cooking beans in pressure cookers. When the beans burst, their skin can block the pressure relief vent causing the pot cover to blow off. Worst case... the pot can rupture. Seen it happen.
