When this guy was on, he was ON. He was just unstoppable at times during his tenure with the Cubs. We miss you derely Arrieta! Wish you all the best in your future endeavors! #GoCubbies
The one against the Dodgers was more impressive not only because it was his first, but because by the end of the game the Reds players were just trying to go home
I see a trend. Needs to be on a Monday against the NL with Arrieta pitching while the game reaches night time at some point, needs to be an away game and the cubs need to be up 2-0 in the first inning.
This has to be the largest m argin of victory in a no hitter in MLB history. Don't remem ber just what year it was, bu t Frank Smith of the White S ox pitched a 15-0 no hitter a gainst the Detroit Tigers.
Im 12 and i didnt really know much about baseball when i was younger so i didnt know wether to be a cubs or a sox fan so i was flip flopping between them then i stood a cubs fan for 2 years
I would have been mad as Jake Arietta, if that umpire would accosted him the no hitter by not ringing up the batter. Imagine if the next hit was like a base hit.
+A Alekhine yes for his no-no I think he walked 3 or 4 batters. But at 2:22 the Cubs tried turning a Double play, and on the turn the runner was safe at first, the fielder could've went to first or get the lead runner which is why it's a fielders choice.
He was definitely juicing. From mid 2015-mid 2016 when he was unhittable his fastball was anywhere from 94-97 sometimes 98, now his fastball sits from 90-93, 95 tops. After the accusations of him juicing came out last year he also started to slack in production. I thought there was no way he was juicing at first to totally believing he was. CHEATER
+Andrew Grove is Trout on PEDs? McCutchen? Kershaw? Harper? until someone is tested positive, you have to give them the benefit of the doubt. otherwise, fans will lose all trust in the game of the players.
+Cubsfan122112 All those players were good from the beginning , Arrieta sucked ass consistently for like 6 years, all of a sudden he is a cy young pitcher, sorry some are just logical concerned
Is there a Reds broadcast of this game somewhere? I want to hear Marty Brenaman cry.
What makes this incredibly impressive is how long he had to sit in between innings with the cubs pounding the reds
congrats to david ross. this was his first no hitter to ever catch, and in his final year of playing baseball. awesome he got to experience it
So people are more focused on the no-hitter but no one realizes the score 😂😂😂😂😂
Dimitri Petrenko I know right 🤣😂😂
13-0 ez
Yeah no shir
Reds got dusted 🤣🤣
One strikeout for every fan in attendance
Well, The Cubs fans are abundant everywhere.
I miss Jake
Cubs scored more runs than Reds fans in attendance

The Cubs have it made. So much talent at all positions. Good game by arrieta

This makes me tear up every time I watch it, same as his first no-hitter against the Dodgers. Magic. 2016 is our year.
This is how I always want to remember Jake.
Me too man
And we ALWAYS will, plus is other No No AND his decimation of the Pirates in the 2015 Wild card!
Chemistry between pitcher and the rest of the fielders are perfect. This is what happens when the team knows how to work together - you do great!
We’ll miss you Jake.
He had a bad one game start and has been on fire since. :(
Yu Darvish is not an acceptable replacement.
The only reason Arreita is gone is that the cubs didn’t have no money but the Phillies had millions of dollars
Bonzi Buddy i feel bad you guys have Darvish now.
he’s baaaaaack
@@da-villain aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand he's gone
we got a shell of him
Who’s here after the Cubs just signed him?
Ross's pick off at first base was world class!
The one against the Dodgers was more impressive not only because it was his first, but because by the end of the game the Reds players were just trying to go home
I wish they would have shown the fan who was celebrating with them before the players were like "Wait, we dont know you."
1:04 Just get it there, don't lollipop it
2:27 If you don't like this you don't like baseball
3:41 I peed a little
First time the Cubs have pitched a no-hitter in Cincinnati against the Reds since Ken Holtzman in 1971
I want this team again
That was the best perfect game of all time in cubs history!
Just beautiful.
How was 2:22 an error he had full control of the baseball when throwing to first?
What about the fan that ran on the field after he got it?
Kinda interesting, you can tell when either the Reds fans left, or when they stopped hoping for a win and starting looking to see a no-hitter.
Little known fact: Greg Gibson was the home plate umpire
Of course they cut out the part with the fan running on the field to celebrate
This will be difficult aginst the reds since billy is fast so short ground ball he will most likely to be safe and still a great hitter
Welcome back, Jake! GO CUBS GO!
At 0:31 how did a guy get on base?
And at 2:15?
And at 3:31?
NickyV84 84 Hits The Dude Or 4 Balls
Have you ever read the description section on TH-cam?
Walk dummy and the guy who got on during the attempted double play is a fielders choice, doesn’t go down as a hit
they walked him
I see a trend. Needs to be on a Monday against the NL with Arrieta pitching while the game reaches night time at some point, needs to be an away game and the cubs need to be up 2-0 in the first inning.
It wasn’t just jake. It was his defense behind him
Kris Bryant in this game was 4 for 6 with 2 home runs, 4 runs, & 6 RBI including a grand slam.
Came back to watch him smack the Reds on the day of his retirement. Long live Jake the Snake 🐍

Let's Go Cubs
Did anyone notice that when he pitched the no-no against the Dodgers, that they were leading 2-0 in the first also.
Both were also 2 run home runs by bryant.
That is true my friend
Was this the biggest slaughter for a no hitter in history?
I'm confused, if this was a no hitter what do you call that at 2:21 ?
Fielder's choice
@TinyTim what GummyDummy said
It sounds like a Cubs home game
I sort of feel bad for the Reds even though I'm a Cubs fan cause they got no hitted and lost 16-0........
Wacky Sporter a Cubs fan with a Blue Jays logo as a profile picture?
They cut out the fan celebrating 🥂 🥳 with them 😂
Im a Phil’s fan so I’m happy
Im sure the reds fans wouldn't have stopped thinking about this game for years:-|

RC Crowe LOL. This didnt age well. Arrieta blows
@@Packsuperbowl But for about a year and a half he was the best pitcher in the mlb.
Some when they get old they gossip and envious, others continue playing baseball.
Right on Jake! Go Cubbies!!:)
Damn..Reds were THOROUGHLY beaten here lol. Wonder what the biggest deficit in a no-hitter/perfect game is.
Check your Jose is a brush picture
Unique things such as no hitters or perfect games, those are what separates baseball from other sports

Ah. Love reading the lovely comments of these fans who have been lifelong supporters of this team for two years.

That says it all. Bandwagon fans are not true fans. So annoying. Same deal with the Giants. Lifelong fans since 2010 am I right?

Been going to games since I was like 8.go cubs
4:02 crowd boos the umpire
I would have been mad as Jake Arietta, if that umpire would accosted him the no hitter by not ringing up the batter. Imagine if the next hit was like a base hit.
Recommend after Alec freakin mills threw one
Yikes. This wasn't just a no-hitter, this was a trouncing as well.
The Phillies better appreciate the hell out of him
16-0? Jesus lol
Talk about jinxing the game, kept saying no-hitter through 3, 4, 5...
Let's pitch at least a few more no-hitters in 2017! AMEN AND AMEN. pinksugar
Isn’t a no hitter when no one gets on base because at 1:26 there’s a dude on base
My mistake he might of got walked
But does it really count cause it’s the reds (I am a reds fan and I know that we suck)
No one wore a mask here. I miss those good old days
Wow yeah almost like pandemic wasn't a thing in 2016, crazy how that works right
This is an absolute ass whooping
Glad to see he’s gone and Chicago pitching is down hill. Go reds.
a 2:22 runner got safe to first. How is this a no hitter if runner got to first?
Fielder's Choice. Doesn't go in the book as a hit. Same as a reached on error
or a walk
+Donald W Mabee Jr Truth be told, I was wondering the same thing and I am a Cubs fan.....
+A Alekhine yes for his no-no I think he walked 3 or 4 batters. But at 2:22 the Cubs tried turning a Double play, and on the turn the runner was safe at first, the fielder could've went to first or get the lead runner which is why it's a fielders choice.
+Erik Miller I see, ok so it doesn't count as a hit since the fielder could have got him out at first but chose to get the one going to 2nd first.
I don't watch baseball that much but how is it a no hitter if one of the guys was on second and the other guy made it to first
Arrieta, a true human animal.
2:20 there's a hit?
He’s lucky there is such thing as fielders choice or else his no hitter woulda been spoiled by that failed double play
1:02 he framed it
yes
2:24 wasnt that a hit since they didnt get him at first
EnderRemix Ftw nah, it’s a fielder’s choice if you get a lead runner, but not the batter running to first.
That one in the 6th was a infield single
Fielders choice, no hit.
Who here after Alec mills no hitter
Me
3:55 ????
THis is a shutout where they hit get runners on base and let the other team not score
No, it’s a no hitter, because they never got a hit
@@SirGreyy Exactly
Thank goodness the cubs didn't do that to the cardinals, or i would've had a heart attack
He SHOULD be wearing an Astros jersey
+MrHow2fail Nah he is wearing the jersey that he should be wearing.
bro they destroyed the reds
That’s embarrassing you get obliterated by 16 and no hit
pretty sure he let up a hit around 2:14
walk
+SirKingHoff pretty sure its a fielder's choice. no hit
SirDobbsdaGr8 you are correct just looked up the definition, thank you
no prob. was trying not to sound sarcastic but kinda failed so sorry bout that lol
Is it me or is most of these no hitters against the Reds or the padres
Lincecum no hit the paddles twice in the same year???
+Sam Sinks Close, one in 2013 and one in '14
+xeltic4gaming as a giant's fan I should know that. My bad lol
But the guy got a hit in the 6th inning and got on base tho? How is that a no hitter ?
That's called fielders choice. It's not a hit, casual.
You do realize a batter can draw a walk....reach on an error....get plunked etc and the pitcher still throws a no-hitter....right?
3:25
Did you not see a guy on firstw
They were walked
I won’t because he on the Phillies
El VASCO
BTW he threw a 1 hitter
I never knew Cincinnati was bad (jk)
It’s not a no hitter if a runners on base
No, it’s a not a perfect game if a runner got on base, no Red got a hit, the runner got on base because of a walk
It was a one hitter
Kas H
If you're referring to the double play where the guy got to first, it was fielders choice. Therefore not a hit.
I love arrieta but they got hits so it’s not a no hitter
Gagag
