I remember after this game it felt like that Cubs core was unstoppable and about to go on a 90s Braves run. Enjoy the good times with your good teams/players. You never know when ownership trades them all away
As a Giants fan it's the only thing I will give the Dodgers credit for. To not only be a postseason team every year since 2013 but to be a genuine contender (on paper) is impressive but I can rest assured that LA will never win a real World Series because they love choking. 2013 Lost NLCS 2014 Lost NLDS 2015 Lost NLDS 2016 Lost NLCS 2017 Lost World Series 2018 Lost World Series 2019 Lost NLDS 2020 Season Cancelled 2021 Lost NLCS 2022 Lost NLDS 2023 Lost NLDS
Ya, no Arrieta hasn’t been an Ace for a couple years now. As for Darvish? Well heck he is almost a carbon copy of Arrieta... both love strikeouts and both give up HR like crazy. I’m happy he ain’t with us anymore.
If the Cubs don't win this game, I don't think they win the World Series in 2016. Simply because they have lost 9 playoff games at that point, the win here and also the NLDS win vs Cardinals gave them confidence for 2016, and the Mets sweep made them hungry for 2016! Everything worked out in the end!
I'm happy this Pirates group never even made it past a NLDS. From the time they began winning in 2013 they were the dirtiest team in the league. Having the benches clear vs over half the NL and multiple occasions with the other four Central teams, even in the playoffs as seen here. Nobody seemed to realize it though. They were looked at as a lovable small market team.
Making this comment 9/2019, you don't see Schwarber intentionally hitting the ball to left field anymore, like he did in the first inning. Seems that all the Cubs have forgotten how to draw a walk or simply hit the ball where it is pitched. There is no such thing as a productive out anymore. Too many games in 2018 and 2019 (both September collapses) where the boxscore shows the Cubs 11, 12, or 13 strike outs and just 0 or 1 walks drawn -- and this agains the opponent's 4th and 5th starters ! Can't score runs when you can't put the ball in play.
And if you look to the left, you’ll see a Pirates fan who is still salty about their team’s loss in the 2015 NL Wild Card game. This concludes our tour, thank you for visiting the museum of greatest Chicago Cubs moments

Which really puts it into perspective how long the Dodgers and Astros have been postseason contenders. Its really hard to be this good this long.

I wonder where schwarber’s hr ball is now
Dr Thanos legend has it the ball is still in the air
Samuel Fewer is right. That’s where everything ends up
It might be in a Chicago sports museum
Still in Orbit
still floating in PA as of october 2020
As a longtime Cubs fan this postseason really gave me the hope and faith I needed for the WS run in 2016
These are your best of your most recent videos. Please keep making them
The cubs had went crazy in the feild after the win and then in there lockers
2:29 you by mistake put the hit by pitch before Bryant’s catch
This may be hyperbole, but no one pitched a better game than Arrieta did in 2015.
MadBum in 2014? Against the Pirates too.

He was on a different level in 2015
Sean Rodriguez had more hits on the water cooler than the pirates had all game

Crazy how all the scoring was done by JUST Fowler and Schwarber.
of course marlins man is there
2:06 bad call
Montero's framing was amazing. Stupid thing to dump him.
No shit, the umps should have been wearing Cubs uniforms that night.
crowtservo what a tired excuse.
That wouldn't have won them the game anyway. And on top of that Montero framed that so well he was like buster Posey.
How did the Pirates with the 2nd best record lose agian?
FightinChile yah jake arrieta
Cause they had on an eye patch.
Because the cubs decided they were good
The NL Central was stacked this year, top 3 NL teams were in this division and made the playoffs
At the time they were facing the best pitcher on the planet.
Jake arrieta to the phillies is the biggest loss for cubs
dinuka kiriella Lol no it isn’t. Arrieta hasn’t been even close to how good he was then.
Keep in mind the rotation is full.

Darvish was a whole lot better this year
Jake can get his trump loving ass out of Chicago. Yu has been a good replacement, especially last season. I’d take Yu over jake any day.
This game was ELECTRIC
LOL @ The Pirates fan yelling "Throw Him Out," after Jake's hit batter
I saw that too😆
He knew it was the only chance they had to win
Who’s here after last nights game?
0:46-0:47 Schwarbomb by Schwarber and the Pirates Fans are like oh shit 😑
Cubs Fans are like hell yeah!!! 😄
Here after red sox vs yankees 2021 wild card
Schwarber hit the same home run in both games. 3rd inning off Cole. Looks like he same hit as last night too

Dirtiest team? Interesting how Chris Cohglan took out Kang a week before the playoffs so they wouldn’t have to deal with him. 🤔
@@stefanrascio2868 Kang was a nobody anyway. Coghlan did what players are taught to do. Their job is to break up the double play.
Kyle Moses he did what his manager told him to do. “Take him out” he his 30+ homers and they didn’t want to deal with him in the playoffs
Like one week into this season and whataya know ... throwing at the Reds resulting in the benches clearing. How shocking.
Stefan Rascio Don’t act like it would of changed the world of difference.
