I vividly remember watching him at Wrigley in ‘14 thinking we’ve got something special here. The next two years were the most fun I had tracking a pitchers starts it was electric! Awesome job you captured that timeframe perfectly.
This man was wicked and I was mad/happy for him when he pitched his no no against my Dodgers 🤝🏼🤝🏼🤝🏼 that run he had for that cy young was one for the ages
While his prime was short in the grand scheme of things, it was one of the most dominate primes I have ever seen. One could argue his second half of 2015 was the single greatest half of baseball any pitcher has ever thrown. I know as a Pirates fan I remember that run he had all too well.
Agreed! 0.75 ERA is crazy... And that's the beauty of this series, it's not about just the 20+ year HOFers, it's also about those that took over the league for a moment 🔥
Your prime videos are so good Cam! I love how they honor the player and show their insane skill in the game, especially your Roberto Clemente video. One of my favorite players of all time because of his skill and his kindness. Keep making these awesome videos, because ill keep watching🔥🔥🔥😎
Thank you Sergio! I try my best to honor these players, so I'm glad you feel they do. Roberto's video was one of my favorites I've done thus far. His story is remarkable!
Barry Larkin deserves his own video, he tends to get overlooked compared to the other 90s shortstops like Jeter, A-Rod, and Nomar, but he's easily one of the best shortstops in history as well as one of the best Reds players.
I've been watching some of your content as of late. It's great. Along with the collaboration with MilbHatbilly. Cubs getting Arrieta was a blessing. He was like Sutcliffe.
Great video cam, Jake was an amazing player too watch back in his cubby days, can’t wait for your next video they are always bangers 🔥, I also wanted to suggest doing a video on Duke Snider who many people have forgotten how insanely good he was in his prime and The greatest second baseman in my opinion Roberto Alomar
Thank you for the kind words! Jake had been on my radar for a while due to his short but insane peak. Great suggestions as well it seems like there's an infinite amount of amazing players left to cover!
Watching his rise from being his teammate at Plano East was a wild ride. If not for having tendonitis in his elbow his Junior year and varsity only having one sophomore on the team during his Sophomore season, he probably would have been a much more highly touted prospect coming out of high school.
I love the insane prime videos it’s just that you choose some unknown players and not great players work on some players that are actually like at the beginning of the insane primes you choose comments that have the best players now you choose this dude that only cub fans know choose like MVPS that are good
By that are you referring to current players or just the 100 WAR+ type players? Once the season starts expect the bigger names to start showing up. Offseason players were not going to include the Teddy Ballgame-type and Nolan Ryan-type players. Every once in a while though I don't mind doing a lesser known player like Arrieta because the prime was short but ridiculous.
It's fun to see one of these videos about a player with a dominant prime who isn't quite Hall of Fame material. Along those lines, I'd love to see a video on Johan Santana. The guy was a beast with the 2000s Twins. Speaking of 2000s Twins, I am (once again?) asking for a Joe Mauer video.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. These prime videos aren't all supposed to be the 20+ year HOFers, Arrieta and others belongs too! Gotta do both Santana and Mauer at some point, as you can imagine the list of potential candidates for these videos are endless 😂
My fav team is the Orioles! One of my friends made me the logo and he used that to make the Cam 23 logo. Thank you I'm glad you liked Randy's vid! And the D-Backs are a great team to root for right now, I'm sure you're enjoying seeing their rise as of late
Love this series, but I don't think Jake's prime or overall body of work was enough to deserve it. That said, his 2015 and 2016 seasons were EPIC. I can remember his starts being must watch games. Dude was a monster
I can understand that, but the great part of a series like this is to show that 20+ year HOFers and a player like Arrieta who took over the league for a short time are both deserving of having their stories told. After all, it is the INSANE prime 😂
I wonder if Jakes career suffered from the different baseballs introduced in 2016 through 2018 before the one we all know about in 2019. Even his own hitting numbers improved in 2016 lol.
Too bad his prime was not as long as some others. Sometimes the biggest stars shine and we will remember them forever. However short their brightness might have been we will remember. As a Cubs fan he will always be a Cub! Thank you!
That is one trade that didn't work out to great for the O's. I just stop and wonder what if? If the staff the O's have now was around then. However it wasn't and with Elias in charge the O's are now a first class origination.
The O's changed his delivery while he was in the Minor Leagues, which is why he kind of sucked for them. Once he was on the Cubs, they let him pitch how he used to, and the rest was history. The Orioles MiL pitching coaches and training staff were garbo back then. The only pitcher who "made it" was Bedard, but even he had health issues.
Since you didn’t see my will Clark one how about Jeff Kent you mentioned him in the steroid shadow one the 4 time silver slugger a 5 time all star and an MVP I think he would be a great video he is an MVP come on cam what do you say
Greinke should have won the Cy in 2015, had a lower ERA, higher ERA+, higher WAR. Jake won because of his attention getting second half, while Greinke was dominant the entire season.
His performance was suspicious! He went from a mediocre pitcher to a lights out pitcher for two years and then back to being a mediocre to bad pitcher??
Am I the only one waiting for a Michael Young video?
Ngl bro yes you are
Would love that!
I vividly remember watching him at Wrigley in ‘14 thinking we’ve got something special here. The next two years were the most fun I had tracking a pitchers starts it was electric! Awesome job you captured that timeframe perfectly.
I’ll bet! Very memorable era at Wrigley Field 😎 thanks I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Hard to believe he only made one all-star team, and not even during his Cy Young season.
Agreed!
This man was wicked and I was mad/happy for him when he pitched his no no against my Dodgers 🤝🏼🤝🏼🤝🏼 that run he had for that cy young was one for the ages

Great job, buddy! Cool to see he was a Cub as a little leaguer. Full circle.
Thanks Hatbilly! I know right that was so unexpected to see that he was a Cub long before his Cy Young days 😂
Been waiting for someone to cover him
fantastic video as always !
Thank you! 🙌🏼
He did it! I requested this awhile ago and he did it!!! Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed! I appreciate the suggestion 😎
@@Cam23 Keep up the great work!

Arrieta was also a great person, always stopping on the sidelines and signing for all the kids hanging over the railing
The post-Orioles success definitely hurt, but I am glad that he found success with the Cubs and won the World Series! Great video!
As an O's fan I agree 😂
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed 😎
Agreed, kinda. Same as w/ Gausman we made out better. We are getting ready for another run at the AL East title.

jake arrieta isnt "this dude that only cub fans know" lol
WE NEED A KERSHAW VID
Not really, everyone knows how good kershaw is. Not everyone knows how good arrieta is.
great video!!! cant wait for the will clark video 👀

9:25 how is Zack Greinke considered human? look at his NECK!!!!! I MEAN WTF????
Bro doesn't skip a day at the gym that's for sure 😂
Knew this guy was going to be something watching the Os. Great flashes. Shame he couldn't stay.
9:25
you'd think those people would have waited for Arrieta to not be holding his kid before showering him with champagne lmao
So true I thought the same thing 🤣
Great video as always, but I wish you would do Shawn Green!
Green's been on my radar for a while, hopefully I can get around to him soon!

you should do hank aaron, one of my fav braves oat
he's like the Cory Kluber of the NL! Still think Greinke deserved the Cy Young that year though but I definitely understand why Jake won it.
Do Felix Hernandez or Jackie Robinson
Can you Do Paul Konerko or Carl Yastrzemski
Speaking of Kris Medlen…. A video of him would be cool
Too bad his prime was not as long as some others. Sometimes the biggest stars shine and we will remember them forever. However short their brightness might have been we will remember. As a Cubs fan he will always be a Cub! Thank you!
Interesting choice since he had one legendary year and two very good ones.
He was a top 3 pitcher for a good 3 years, his peak was insane though
@@MattGS22 That is exactly my thought process for choosing to cover him. Simply put: Jake was insane. Several streaks that are hard to fathom!
Is that Dexter Fowler next to Jake on Team USA?
It is!
When we getting a Mike Mussina or Paul O’Neil video
Dude had a whole career in a 3 yr span..Some hof pitchers don't have 2 no hitters,a cy young and a world series on their resume
Andrew miller could be a great one to do next
Agreed, a reliever prime would be awesome!
I wonder whatever happened to Wil Myers would make an interesting video
Loved Jake, short prime tho.
Do Derek Lee he was insane during the mid 2000s
Very underrated!

I agree! It's too bad considering we hadn't been blessed with a true ace since Mussina (and hopefully Burnes can stick around for a few more years)
The O's changed his delivery while he was in the Minor Leagues, which is why he kind of sucked for them. Once he was on the Cubs, they let him pitch how he used to, and the rest was history.

@@GeeEm1313 I agree garbage coaches. It's night and day with Elias nowadays. It's like they were way behind the times back then.
@@Cam23 New owners give hope and possibilities for resigns. Angelos owned team no prayer at all.
like button for all Cubs fans --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> THANK YOU JAKE "SNAKE" ARRIETA
The Orioles wouldn’t let him throw his cutter. What a mess that coaching staff was back then. They totally dropped the ball on him.
Please do a Madison bumgarner video, Jon Lester, and Mark grace
can you do ernie banks
WE NEED THE INSANE PRIME OF STEVE CARLTON!!!!!!!
Do Ruben Sierra already! Dude was an underrated BEAST. No roids.
Who is Jake Arata?
🫥
Same here why him
Remember when he hit that 3R bomb in SF in the playoffs? I do.
Iconic moment
What could’ve been if the O’s pitching development wasn’t garbage in the 2010’s.
Wait…who in the world gave Gerrit Cole a third place vote in the 2015 NL Cy Young?
Insane prime of David Justice ? 👀
Since you didn’t see my will Clark one how about Jeff Kent you mentioned him in the steroid shadow one the 4 time silver slugger a 5 time all star and an MVP I think he would be a great video he is an MVP come on cam what do you say
Hey, Cam23, do Joe Mauer next time, please, thank you.
Greinke should have won the Cy in 2015, had a lower ERA, higher ERA+, higher WAR. Jake won because of his attention getting second half, while Greinke was dominant the entire season.
Much respect to Jake! Wish he would’ve stayed with my O’s. Not his choice though.
Me too, except that I don't think he'd have ever figured it out with us unfortunately. Cubs' Chris Bosio was the miracle worker
I see what you did there. You picked the 200 inning cutoff and excluded Kershaw’s 2014 season on that 1.80 era or lower stat.
No, not intentionally. I found it on social media and decided to include it. Let's face it, most stats are cherry picked 🤷🏻♂
@@Cam23 Fair enough, I kind of figured. Wanted to poke a little bit of fun at ya for Kershaw’s 2014 not being on that list.
Juicer

Satchel Paige!
Juice. Clearly juice.
What???
I saw him in the Padre jersey. He wasn't impressive then...
Being a Padres fan is depressing
Day 19 of asking for Ted Williams
