      It's gotta be MA if no tax.. People think NH is no tax, but it's actually 100% tax, since the state owns & operates all the liquor stores. Private liquor sales business is illegal in New Hampshire.

    Glad to see you're on the "in" list with JD. The press office for JD should get an award! This press release was the most extensive and coordinated I've seen on the WhiskeyTube. Looks like the JD 10/12 release is an instant sellout hyper allocated unobtainable hit. I hope I get a chance at the 12 or the 10. Make sure you do a 12 yr showdown as I can only hope to get the "almost as good"

    • @lpagliacco

      lol. the last 10yr was unobtainable like you said this yr would be yourself. Idk what makes you happy about it, but good for you if you are. I find JD's marketing despicable--marketing so hard to get all the Bourbon-tubers to hype it up when it's going to be super limited, with flippers with contacts flipping them as per usual.

    Hope I can find one of these, but my assertion based on recent learning: Tennessee Whiskey is Bourbon. The Lincoln Count process does not affect it. Other popular bourbons are charcoal filtered, double barreled, sometime in non-bourbon casks, and still called bourbon. I used to think differently, but I consider myself enlightened now, even though I'm sure some will disagree.

    I work at a liquor store in New Orleans. Over the Christmas holiday we got in 1 bottle of Jack Daniel's 10 year. I was excited to see it. But once the owner put it in the system. Priced it for $180. My mouth hit the floor in shock. Way over priced. Had it been $80 that bottle would be sitting in my collection. But as you guys know sometimes that's how it goes. Kurt and Trenton you both are rite. As a consumer it would be nice to see these bottles as well as other allocated bourbon and whiskeys prices lowered. I still buy bottles from my store and the owner hooks me up, but still fun to shop at other stores in my area and see what they have. We finally got in the Penelope Architect series. Which has been my new daily pour. Bought one bottle, took it home and had one pour. Loved it so much went back and bought 3 more just to have in stock. Anywho guys I love the channel and the content is amazing. Keep up the great reviews. Also in addition we have local bourbons made here I would love to send yall and see your responses. Just wanting to mention that the charcoal mellowing process doesn’t add any flavor or scent. The charcoal is used as a filter to remove more harsh tastes for a more smooth taste.

    • @gregtucker4429
      @gregtucker4429 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. A lot of water filters are charcoal filters too. Brita filters have carbon in them. You can't taste it or smell it at all because charcoal only removes flavor. I can’t find these anywhere locally for less than $200 (10 year) and $400 (12 year).

    I don’t know if this is true but the rumor is that the 10 year is gonna be $60-$70 and the 12 year is gonna be in the $80 price range which isn’t unheard of for higher aged whisky. Cheers gents. Nice to have a bourbon reviewer in NWI.

    80% Corn, 12% Malted Barley and 8% Rye is the standard Jack Daniels mash bill.

    Good job comparing/tasting JD 10 and JD 12. Clueless about the mention of Pappy?

    I was sipping on a JDSB BP(129.5) over ice and caught all the notes you were describing on these two bottles. Why should I go out and purchase one, or what makes these bottles so special? Thoughts? The price is similar. I love your channel BTW and oh, your audio is fine. Trust me, I work in TV.

    I'll probably never see these, and if I do they'll be way outside my budget. But I'm glad to know that there's more to Jack Daniel's than the Old No. 7, which I don't propose to ever drink again. One of these days I'll try some of their better stuff that's within my reach.
    And on the bourbon question... My PERSONAL view, which is just my OPINION, is that Tennessee whiskey is a variety of bourbon, just as a wheated bourbon is a variety of bourbon, but isn't a typical bourbon. I've formed this view because a) Tennessee whiskey follows every requirement of bourbon, adding just the one step, b) not all Tennessee whiskey uses the Lincoln County process, and c) some bourbon from outside Tennessee does filter through charcoal. But since this is just my opinion, anyone and everyone is free to differ. 🥃🙂

    I wish all distillers would put out small taster's like that normally to the public to buy. I'd pay $8-12 for a taster of a $70+ bottles to see if they are worth it.

      Problem with that is, as long as its limited and has secondary value, they dont need you to think its worth it. They just need whoevers gunning for it to.

    • @dkfromthebay
      @dkfromthebay ปีที่แล้ว

      Not all Tennessee whiskey is necessarily bourbon. But if it meets the criteria for being bourbon, being made in Tennessee doesn't disqualify it from being called bourbon. Case in point the Jack Daniels Single Malt is not bourbon

    • @barraganjdbag
      @barraganjdbag ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dkfromthebay Jack Daniels single malt isn't legally Tennessee whiskey. It's single malt. Tennessee whiskey has a definition, and the definition is essentially bourbon that is charcoal filtered and made in Tennessee.

    Hope I can get this, I'm with you guys, I love JDSBBP but they other staples don't do much for me. I want to like the JDSB at the lower proof but it just seems to fall flat when I have the BP right next to it. I missed it, but curious if the 12 year had a nice oil/viscosity feel to it. It's typically why i prefer higher proofs or non-chill filters for that feeling. I have only come across 1910 and widow jane that were 90 proof with a nice oily texture.
