Happy New Year Guys! Have really enjoyed all of your content since I started my bourbon journey this year. Trenton I love you and your Pop's back and forth banter. "Reminds me of me and my "Ol Man" a long time ago. Have a great new year look forward to more of your stuff! 🥃
Glad Knob 12 is finally getting the love. It's my favorite in my collection and it's super complex. A lot of people think the 9 year is as good and I think that's crazy. I have both, and I think the 12 blows the 9 out of the water.
Speaking of accents: I was in Kentucky and bought a Coke zero in a bottle, and the hard southern accented checkout girl asked me “do you want to cut fries?” And I asked her to repeat it. I didn’t understand and she said it again. Then she said it very pronounced, like I was a child, and what she was saying was “do you want a cup for ice?” Lmao
I grew up in Connecticut, was transferred to Louisville,KY. My firm acquired office furniture from a local company. They sent a very good tech , the name on his business card was Ray Christian. A few days later, we needed some more assistance. I called the office and asked for Ray. The response was “who ?”. I repeated the name Ray. “The deep southern accent replied, “there is nobody here by that name, “what is this person’s last name?” I said Christian. The response was “ you mean Rye, it’s Rye you want!! So I found Rye instead of Ray. Go figurr
I've only had the KC 12yr, which is excellent. Lately, I've been very impressed with the higher end JD products. I'm going to pick up that JD 12yr next time I see it. Great video.
Interesting to hear about the amount of Knob 12 you have. I have never seen it on a shelf here in Georgia. It’s only been part of small allocated drops
Nice lineup! Knob Creek 12yr is tops for me followed by 1792 12yr, Weller 12yr, JD 12yr! My go to snacks right now are Nerds Gummy Clusters, Popcorn with extra butter, and Reese’s caramel big cups!
KC12 is pretty rare here in east tennessee. Idk if its just popular and constantly leaves the shelves or if they just dont get a lot or often. KC9 is very common and one of my local stores just got a barrel pick. I was debating on it but theyre charging $70 and not offering samples so its made me very hesitant
I've been drinking the Knob Creek 12 for a couple of years now. It's my go-to bourbon for my famous old fashoin. The last bottle I bought was $99.00, though.... it's getting pricey. Thanks for the vids.
Great video as always guys! Have you tried the Eastside 12yr Double Oaked? It’s one of our favorite 10-12yr bourbons, and I’ve been curious how it would do against the Jack 12yr since I probably won’t ever be able to try the Jack. Keep it up!
I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing. I think that you should have included weller 12, as it’s a lot easier to find than pappy 12. Some road trip videos would be great. I’m a big fan of bourbon hunting videos, so please consider doing more, even local, as I’m always looking for new stops and you’re not too far away from me in Chicago.
I have been on the lookout for KC12. Hard to find in Nebraska. I love the 9 year. Picked up the JD single barrel barrel proof rye. What your thoughts? Will have a pour tonight for the live stream!
Great review. I have recently discovered your channel, thanks and keep them coming. I am heading to the States in late June for a few weeks. I will be bringing a few bottles back to Australia with me, hopefully. What 6 bottles would you recommend about $600 USD to spend. Thanks in advance
As a teen my friend always had betty crocker icing in the pantry. We were fat kids and often dipped the grahm cracker. My anniversary was this week and my mom made me the same cupcakes she made for our wedding cake. The icing was on the side in a bowl and I have had multiple spoonfuls of German chocolate icing with no cake this week. Bout to uave another!
I finally saw a 1792 12 year (at secondary price) and even with as much as I love the Full Proof I didn't think it was worth the same as two bottles of KC12.
Ive had a bottle for msrp. Wasnt impressed. That said i cant stand bannana notes in bourbon and it was heavy on the 12. I ended up blending my 12 into a full proof, which was pretty good and tamed the bannana.
My Knob 12 doesn’t have much flavor, I can taste the age but it drinks hot and has a short finish..that makes it fall short for me. I’m shocked at how low 1792 landed. I think proof can really throw off someone’s palate for the following pour but then again everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Love your content SLB Basement Bourbon Bar!
I need to try this but subbing in EW12 instead of the VW12. When I've done this blind before KC12 was bottom half. I must have a mid bottle or my palate leans toward the others.
If you’re in the Twin Cities during your pizza tour, check out Earl Giles. I’m convinced they are a pizzeria masquerading as a distillery (but in all fairness, they have pretty good cocktails, too).
Msrp for knob 12 is $65. I’m in Austin area and it is hard to find but I’ve never seen it for $40. I bought one last week for 65 at my favorite Austin store.
Great video and review. I would recommend a line on the counter or something for us that are depth perception challenged to see what is forward. And maybe a spot that shows the active ranking....but that's just me.
I haven't tried all of these, but I'm a big fan of the KC12 ($70 here). As for bad food cravings, I'm a sucker for two things, both of which are terrible for me: Red Baron French Bread Pizza and Haagen Dazs Ice Cream. Neither of them lasts long when I break down and get them.
If you're looking for a pizza stop come up to Young Joni in Minneapolis. Just a lot of the time you need to have your reservation over a month in advance. Pizzeria Lola if you cant get reservations.
I did JD 12 vs WT 12 about two weeks ago. The JD 12 has a slight edge, but I think that is likely MOSTLY because it is 107 proof and the WR is 101. The KC is also very good, but not against those two. For me. Great video!
Always love to see the Knob 12 do so well in a blind with much more expensive whiskies. As you guys mentioned, it's $70 here in So Cal, which is truly an amazing bargain what with the price of whisky soaring the last few years. Considering the JD12 is $300, WT12 is $200, and VW12 is over $1000 (So Cal pricing), having a contender available for under $100 is truly awesome. This may explain why it has become almost impossible to find it at most stores I visit. Total wine will get a case in and it's gone in a few days. Even the largest and best stocked store I visit (Mission liquor) has trouble keeping it on the shelves. Keep up the great videos.
I'm from Northeastern PA and that area has some incredible pizza! What else would you expect from so many Italian immigrants who settled there back in the day! Colarusso's (double crust white broccoli), Pizza Lovin, Cebula's, Demuro's, Teberio's, Savo's, Angelo's, Revelo's, Alfredo's Cafe (referenced in the Office) etc etc. While you're there visit the coal mine tour. One-of-a-kind experience :)
New Haven apizza in CT. End of story! Pepe’s, Sally’s, modern, bar, zuppardis, roseland, fuoco.. I’m missing a few, but all fantastic New Haven style apizza within 20 minutes of each other
Childhood carryover here - Mom makes a cake and has extra icing, she would spread the icing between regular or cinnamon graham crackers. Dude.... As an adult, on the rare occasions where making a cake that every iota of icing doesn't end up on the cake, I'm digging for graham crackers.
I loved pizza. The BBQ and Buffalo chicken are the best. I can't eat gluten anymore, so I'm sad. I'm going to try to develop a home made gluten free pizza dough. I enjoy watching you. The family love that you show and respect that you show each other.
The EC B523 I have is 11 years 5 months at 124.2 proof so almost a 12 year. Pretty disappointed to see the A124 come out much younger at a lower proof.
😂😂😂😂 the “boiled peanuts” in the south reminds me first trip to RI wife and I were BAFFLED. Y someone asking if they could slide through to “sit at the bar” in a HEAVY New England accent
Just started the video and I will be very surprised is the JD 12 doesn’t obliterate the others. 😅. Someone saved me the hassle of buying Pappy a long time ago, they are all yours.
Good Pizza = Chicagoland. Joliet (about 40 miles SW) has some really good pies! A couple of local favorites: Cemenos; Big Chill; and Pizza 4 U. Semi-chains: Aurelio's; Giordano's; Gino's East; and Lou Malnati's...the last three are known for deep dish. But so many others!!!!
Hahaha I would have totally fallen for the “boiled peanuts/ bowl of peanuts’” too! In fact, when I first moved to America I went to a diner and wasn’t too hungry so just ask for some chips whilst my friend ordered a meal. The waitress looked at me strange and asked, are you sure? I said of course and can I have some vinegar and ketchup on the side. She came back and opened a packet of crisps, poured them into a bowl in front of me and squirted some ketchup next to them 😂😅😳 just for context, I’m English
For me, the JD batch1 takes the top spot. Followed by Knob Creek, Wild Turkey, Weller(subbed for 1792 that i didn't have). then last being Lot B. I'm guessing the lot B was hurt by the proof point. Fun video. P.S. Had a sip of ECBP B519 12 yr. and it blew all these out of the water.
'A mule looking at a new gate' I've never heard that saying before, that's great!
Very common saying in russia except it a ram looking at a new gate
That was great! And believe me, I've heard a LOT of good ones from my parents, but that's a new one on me! Love it, Kurt!

I’ve done this exact blind on multiple occasions. My top 2 always end up as WT12 and JD12. Those 2 always stand out well above the rest.
Glad Knob 12 is finally getting the love. It's my favorite in my collection and it's super complex.
A lot of people think the 9 year is as good and I think that's crazy. I have both, and I think the 12 blows the 9 out of the water.
When I talk about comparing 9 yr kc to 12 yr kc, I am referring to 9 yr SiB 120 proof. Imo, that one beats the 12 yr.
I have a knob creek 12, and I don't like it. I prefer the regular KC release over it by far

JD12 is amazing! Retail here in NC was $93. I was so impressed and I’m not surprised it placed 1st.

@@Robert.Sheard yeah the 2nd batch was around last week. Batch 1 was harder to find

Jack 12 and Knob 12 are fantastic.
Bought a KC12 two days ago for $62. Last one on the shelf. Never had it before and not opened it yet. Looking forward to trying it more now.

Welcome back bourbon King.
Interesting to hear about the amount of Knob 12 you have. I have never seen it on a shelf here in Georgia. It’s only been part of small allocated drops

Mid 2023, I got a KC12 at Costco for $49.99. I was sure to buy 2. In retrospect, I should have bought a case.

Fantastic video gentleman. Wish yall lived closer. If yall ever have a meet and greet in the south I would like to hang out in person.
My only bottle of Knob Creek 12 was an allocated drop for $75 at my local store, right outside Nashville. Only seen it once, glad I got it.
Great video as always guys! Have you tried the Eastside 12yr Double Oaked? It’s one of our favorite 10-12yr bourbons, and I’ve been curious how it would do against the Jack 12yr since I probably won’t ever be able to try the Jack. Keep it up!
Great video. I wish I could get some of those in my area. I can get a kc 12 here, but it's a bit pricey at 160.00 canadian. Cheers!
Love the KC12. In my part of CA it is $70 and is generally hard to find.

KC12 has been one of my favs for several years. Relatively findable and good value, always want one on the shelf
What a lineup, and great to see the most available (I know Jack 12 is still pretty hard to find) do so well!
I need to try this but subbing in EW12 instead of the VW12. When I've done this blind before KC12 was bottom half. I must have a mid bottle or my palate leans toward the others.
Great episode, i have a know creek 12 and haven't opened it yet, so it looks like we will be cracking that tonight. Thanks guys
I might have missed it but was that JD 12 yr batch 1 or batch 2?
The Knob Creek 12 is always "limit one" on the rare occasion its available in my area north of Chicago.
The Knob Creek 12 yr is hard to find in my area, but I found a bottle last year. I think it is fantastic!
Did you get to go to Trevor’s in Scottsdale? That’s my main bottle shop. Hoping to get that jd12 from the raffle

I got JD, WT and KC bottles there are hard to get in Texas. The KC is 40 dollars it flys off the self here.
Msrp for knob 12 is $65. I’m in Austin area and it is hard to find but I’ve never seen it for $40. I bought one last week for 65 at my favorite Austin store.
Maybe I am behind, but is this the first video, where the end credits music is different???

KC12 is a fantastic pour and I've got backup of it just in case. Can't track down a JD12 without extreme secondary gouging.

What batch of JD12 you guys use in. This blind???
Knob Creek 12 is impossible to find in my area of NC.
Can you guys do 18 years next! Thanks love the videos!
KC 12 shows up in MN like 2-3 times a year and sells out in days. Luckily I've found one every year at least.
Great video , are you guys Notre Dame fans?
I am! Go IRISH!! ☘️😉
I loved it when Kurt said he needed to start smelling more things!!!
Didn't know you guys lived in Chicago. What are your thoughts on the FEW whiskey lineups? you should do a "best Chicago whiskey" video.
I have been very unlucky when looking for KC12 here in Florida. Hopefully one day!

KC 12 is fantastic! My favorite right now, need to replace my bottle.
Yes Knob Creek 12 is hard to find in Alabama and maybe allocated here I am not sure 100% on that.
😂😂😂😂 the “boiled peanuts” in the south reminds me first trip to RI wife and I were BAFFLED. Y someone asking if they could slide through to “sit at the bar” in a HEAVY New England accent
Another awesome show! Really enjoy the bourbon journey with u 2! Cheers
KC 12 is close to being a perfect bourbon. I was in Scottsdale last week also. 97 degrees in April. 🥵
Watching this whilst sipping on a KC12, love this vid.
KC12 is definitely one of my favorite bottles at the moment. Let's see how it stacks up.
Oh i saw the caption at the bottom for the echo. Good video guys. I love to eat spoon fulls of Peter pan peanut butter.
While in the Scottsdale/PHX area, Pizzeria Bianco is a must! Cibo is also pretty good.
Most surprising was WT 12. Lot B is great by itself but doesn’t blind well against higher proof stuff since it’s already light to begin with
