    Hi Daphne !!!
    Great video as usual !!!
    I have several leathermans. My multi tool of choice is a Leatherman P4 free is about the only one made in the USA. I also have a Wave + & the plier head locks up. To be honest I really never use the pliers. So I dont really need the extra weight & bulk.
    I always said if Leatherman made a full size scissor tool i would buy two of them. As i said (it think) in other comments I have converted several leathermans to pocket knives, spicifically a Serge because of the scissors & screwdriver exchanger.
    BTW I would like to see you do a video on that conversion. Takes about 10min. To do & you have a really heavy duty EDC tool thats light & durable.
    Now the roxon KS2E.
    I took both the converted Surge & the KS2E as an EDC & camping several times for a side by side comparisons. I can tell you I was not gentle on ether of them. Heres my results. Overall duribility they were about equal with maybe a slight edge to Surge. The knife blade on the KS2E is considerably better than the Surge. The scissors were interesting. The KS2E scissors have a better grip but the Surge scissors are much sharper & didn't get dull.
    The tools on the surge the screwdriver is headter on the Surge & replaceable. The can opener on the Surge is a beast. The KS2E has a saw. The surge doesn't. So in the end for the better tool

      In the end for the better tool I'm kinda tossed between the two. Slight edge to the D2 blade on the SK2E.
      Thanks

      @@joecat339 hey Joe 🤠… thanks for your in depth input. I’ve had my eye on a P4 for a bit… very nice!… tools on the outside is the name of the game for ease.
      I dunno about wanting to monkey around with my Surge. But I could consider buying a used one for cheap enough to experiment with. I shall consider your Franken-idea. 🤖
      And how great that you have really put the KS2E through some paces for performance/durability, and all in all the Roxon hung in there. I really appreciate the point about the scissors… even if big, to really win they need to be and stay sharp!
      The Surge does have a saw… swappable for the file. I have yet to use the saw on my Surge… although I need to cut some dowels today… I might as well give it a whirl! 💃🏻 🪚

      Daphne !!!
      A few things I forgot to mention. When you remove plier head on the Surge you actually have two pocket knives. The other thing is Bosch jigsaw blades fit in the blade exchanger on the Surge & opens up a new world for cutting metal & plastic with different types of blades.
      I bought a Surge someone broke the cutting blade on the Surge, which is inconceivable on that beast. Anyway, I got it for 25.00.
      Thank You

      Why in the world would you compare a surge to a ks2e? They are completely different price points, different sizes, different weights, different tool sets, not even remotely comparable

    • @daphnedevi
      @daphnedevi  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DrewDragoon why not, though? Many, probably most, people are interested in comparable quality or features between feature similar brand models with disparate price points… namely how well can a cheaper tool compete, and perhaps contemplate the relative value for different use cases.As far as I can tell this is a sizable chuck of EDC videos.

  • @ParkerBinion
    @ParkerBinion หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Great comparison. Both were on sale for Black Friday, but the T4 is sold out on Amazon. KS2E is $30.
    I prefer the blade, scissors and awl of the KS2E, but I don't need a saw in my EDC. And I really like the T4 pry tool. While neither file is great, the T4 file is much larger. Finally, I found a bit adapter for the T4 on Ebay for use with the Steinwhale double-sided bits. So while I would rate the KS2E higher in a vacuum, I carry the T4 far more.

    • @daphnedevi
      @daphnedevi  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ParkerBinion I too could do without a puny saw for EDC… I wish it were something else. I really love the whomping scissors on the KS2E… the little Leatherman scissors are fairly abysmal by comparison. The Leatherman pry tool… mwah… very nice for a compact multitool. Basically I share your take, yet I stayed in the vacuum. If you’re not a nurse/first responder but know one… they have codes for 30% off (one purchase, for up to 3 tools) per year.

    Thanks for the detailed video. I had my eye on the Roxon for a bit, but when I looked up reviews on amzn, some people said it broke after not much use. So for now, I've just been sticking with what I have. A bulkier Roxon from a few years ago, and some SAK's depending on the situation.
    I still like the design of the Roxon in this video, if yours ends up breaking, maybe you can do a quick follow up video to let us know.

      It’s gonna be hard to fully test if I keep favoring Victorinox. 😆
      Certainly if it proves not to be durable then what seems like a decent value proposition, becomes not so much so. 😬

  • @haiku-dude
    @haiku-dude 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Have both and carry the KS2E more often and in my small pouch. In the T4 you can loosen and tighten screws and that helps a lot.

    • @daphnedevi
      @daphnedevi  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Messing with the screws was indeed on the to do list with the T4 when I got it. No impact on the bit that was tough for me… being opening the main blade… in that case it wasn’t the lateral tension which made it tough, but the pressure to get it past the notch on the knife back spring.
      The blade adjacent tools flipped out easily/loosely, but just get pulled back by the magnet before I can get my thumb under to fully extend them… doh! 🥸

    I like the KS2E. I've used mine a lot, but it lives on my desk most of the time. I will say some of the tools are a little cheap, the awl has a great shape, and great utility, but was pretty easy to dull and deform even on soft materials. The bit kit could be improved dramatically with better magnets. And the saw is silly, it's too small to be practical. But the knife and scissors make up for it I think.

    • @daphnedevi
      @daphnedevi  วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a good summary. The awl as package opener is/was great... over time, I've learned it's not as durable as I would like. And the saw ought to be replaced with almost anything else. Good point on the bit magnet too... but I don't use the bits because I think they are silly all the way around, as much as the saw... at least for my usual life. But the knife! The scissors! And even the Phillips and bottle cap/can opener combo are all quite satisfying. In general I wish the tools had better polish, but for the price I can't complain too much. :)

    Hi !!!
    Yes it does have a saw & the capability of using different blades, such as Bosch jigsaw blades.
    However !!! What I did was remove the broken plier head & now I have two very tough & reliable pocket knives.
    For my EDC, I dont really need the saw. So the arm I use is the blade, scissors, screwdriver & can opener. If needed I have the other arm with the saw.
    Thank You

      It really is a good little tool! I wish they had some snazzy options with the scales. I’d love to have it feel the way a Victorinox does to me… like a little buddy you will cherish for decades. It doesn’t feel as refined or timeless in that way… but I hope Victorinox is paying attention and ups their innovation game.

    If American workers were willing to not be paid a living wage, then Leatherman tools can be a cheap as all those Chinese brands. Reviewers never point this out when criticizing American-made tools for their price.

    • @daphnedevi
      @daphnedevi  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@renmedalla fair point, generally speaking. Though I did not criticize the price… just observed the Roxon is a solid option for those without the bank for Leatherman. (The Leatherman feels a bit more quality too; just not sure enough to compel many folks to a preference.)

    Price, size & ease of use: Roxon probably wins. Quality, toughness and longevity: Leatherman T4 wins (for me).

      @daphnedevi  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DeconstructedWithJosh Hi Josh, very much agreed… I think the Leatherman seems tougher->longevity, in particular for more heavy duty users. That said, the majority of people wouldn’t use either tool in a particularly tough way, so for those folks the Roxon makes a ton of sense for 1/2 the price.
      Leatherman feels close to a Victorinox in that it seems like you could carry for very many years. Roxon… I can’t say it wouldn’t, but it doesn’t feeeel like that kind of tool. Longevity definitely has very much to do with value…Twice as much is nothing if it lasts 8x as long. I’d love a longitudinal assessment of both.
