One of the best men and most iconic voices in College football. My friends and I would to him every Saturday. On the way back from Knoxville we would listen to Larry Munson when Georgia was playing. Great voices and colleagues.
I used to live in K'ville and when UT would be on tv my friends and I would mute the tv and listen to John Ward call the game on the radio. I heard this song and got goose bumps. I play this song at the start of every football season and I still get 'em. Thanks John! "He's to the 20, the 15, the 10, the 5, do you see a flag? I don't!...GIVE HIM 6!
I was lucky enough to be there against Vanderbilt in 2017 sitting in the end zone where he was brought out and honored in what turned out to be his final send-off. It was the lone highlight in an otherwise abismal 4-8 season. It's ashamed that with all the great teams and big wins he called his final curtain call came at halftime of a loss to Vandy. R.I.P. JON WARD there will never be another. A true Volunteer at heart
I listen to that song every year to kick off the new season. Still gives me goose bumps. We were so lucky to have John Ward call our games! Thank you John!
I was raised on a dairy farm in East TN, I remember being in the tractor with grandfather and uncle listening to John Ward as we cut corn silage. Realizing we were too poor to ever go to the games, luckily fate would change and funny thing was at games, I’d sit back and say how I missed listening to John on that tractor.
John Ward was something else. No one like him. Bless his life and memory. We use to watch the television and turn it down then turn the radio on to hear him. Grew up in ole rocky top. Still here. Home.
Rip john ward. You were the man. Voice of the vols. I grew up listening every saturday. Couldnt wait to hear you. U'll always be my hero. Ik the vol nation misses you dearly. Much thanks eternaly
Man, I listen to this song at the start of every season and it still gives me goose bumps. I remember when I lived in Knoxvegas and when the game was on we would mute the TV, turn on the radio, and listen to John Ward call the game. He was better than any TV announcer. So, thank you John...and Kenny. Awesome song...and memories. GO BIG ORANGE!!!
Same dude. Here I am Sept 2nd, 2021 hopeful as I was as a 9yo in 1998. We may suck, but I wouldn't trade a second of my fanhood for anything. Thanks Dad!
I miss the days of muting the tv and listening to John Ward call the game on the radio. Side note - Did I just see Kenny wearing an Alabama hat in one of those pics…?
Fuck I miss when we were good, even great at football. I remember so many of these plays, the National Championship, Peyton, Tee, all of it. Forever etched in my memory.
Dude my grandpa was buddies with Johnny Majors growing up. They caught all the glory years. I feel like we’ve let them down and I hate it. I keep pulling for them because it’s in my blood but damn
Yeah I had a cousin who was a grad assistant from 94-99, I had 50 hardline tickets when we beat Florida in 98, I think it was 20-17. My parents when to all the BCS bowl games UT was in. I still remember Kirk herbstreight picking us in 98 with the word “respecT” with the t being a power T. Maybe one day we can get back there. I personally think it’s as easy as hiring Hugh Freeze. Freeze is a PROVEN coach. I mean look what he’s done with liberty. Our administration is full of the “good ole boys” who would rather help a friend out than make the tough call to do what’s best for the university. We will come back one day, when we get the right dude with a set of monster balls in there who is willing to do what it takes.
@@kylechrestman6955 hopefully i don't Jinx it but it looks like we are on the rise again or headed in the right direction at least, Coach huepul is doing a really good job with what he has considering the absolute mess Pruitt left.
They should've had pictures of John Ward in this video too, not endless pictures of Kenny Chesney. This song was written for John Ward when he retired as the Vols announcer.
@naararuiz You are absolutely right... I always see TRUE Tennessee fans wearing Florida Gators or Alabama Crimson Tide clothing... How dare I not know that.... What a shame..... And no, I am also from Knoxville, and even when I lived in Florida I wore my orange with pride, like I thought TRUE fans would do....
Haha oh but I'm the same way. Grew up in Knoxville, still live in the Knox area when I'm at home from college. I'm a Bama fan way more than TN. Roll tide!!!!
"The 1998 National Champions are clad in orange." I'll never forget him saying that as long as I live. Thank you John. We were truly blessed.

I was at John Wards last home game when Kenny performed this at halftime. Awesome! Thanks John and thanks Kenny.

Rest in Paradise Mr. John Ward .voice of the VOLS Went Home to the Lord. June 20,2018

John passed away on my 42 birthday. The past two years have been kinda hard for me. I never met John Ward. But he was my friend.
I'm 42 now. But I will be 43 in October.
I love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Never be another John how many times have l turned the sound down on television and listen to radio.
RIP John Ward
Thank you John
Iam a die hard bama fan but i luv this song
The song is about Tennessee football. Why are we looking at pictures of Kenny instead of Tennessee football pics or video highlights?
Brandon Bible because there haven’t been any touchdowns that’s why
Brandon Bible Alabama hat? We either got a smart ass or a moron...there is no gulf.
He's pretty!
Not to mention several pics in a Bama hat
Cause he wrote the song
RIP John Ward 6-20-2018
Go vols baby
All about them vols baby
He grew up in my town and my grandma is friends with his dad
Touchdown tennessee
Give em 6 RIP John
RIP John Ward.
John ward best ever lived
Rip John Ward
I love your first 👃😮 betterment 😅❤❤😂🎉🎉
They should've had pictures of John Ward in this video too, not endless pictures of Kenny Chesney. This song was written for John Ward when he retired as the Vols announcer.
Up the hills 😢🎉❤😂😂❤
WHY DO I SEE A Bama hat in this Video????
Good point?
looked like Arkansas to me.
Must have lost a bet or photoshopped. 😉
Roll tide
Because Kenny chesney isn't a fan of Tennessee(my opinion)... And he's a giant douchie bag(his grandmother's opinion)
I have a Tennessee hat signed by John Ward (and Bill Anderson) the year of the National Title. For Sale to any of our #VFL loyal. #GBO
TOUCHDOWN BIG ORANGE
@naararuiz You are absolutely right... I always see TRUE Tennessee fans wearing Florida Gators or Alabama Crimson Tide clothing... How dare I not know that.... What a shame..... And no, I am also from Knoxville, and even when I lived in Florida I wore my orange with pride, like I thought TRUE fans would do....
RIP John Ward😭❤ also why is he singing a Tennessee song and wearing a Alabama hat in one of the pics?? I'm confused
Go Blue!!
"A tribute song to John Ward" yet all we see are random pics of Kenny Chesney!? hmmmm
Go damn Vols. Fugg Covid
Run for the checkers, go for 6...
Hes from Luttrell TN
please God, please, let butch jones take TN back to what we used to be
Does anybody remember his other song, Team of Destiny 1998?!? Can't find it!!!
Go Big Orange
Someone help me out, what color are Kenny's eyes 👀?😍tx
Great song but the video would have been perfect if it had pics of John Ward and TN players not Kenny the whole time
The poors haven't been relevant since Ward retired.
This song is a tribute to John Ward, but the pictures are nothing but Kenny? Why
With a fuckin Alabama hat on. Hell yeah!!
Put those last 10 Bama games in the lyrics!
Back before Chesney was an annoying bandwagoner and wasn't cheering for every team in the SEC.
Haha oh but I'm the same way. Grew up in Knoxville, still live in the Knox area when I'm at home from college. I'm a Bama fan way more than TN. Roll tide!!!!
Rocky top 😅😂😂❤🎉 shit
❤🎉
I'm having trouble finding this song on iTunes for my ring tone can anyone help
Great song, but why choose photos of Kenny Chesney with an Alabama baseball hat on?
How’s he wearing a Bama hat?
