As a father now... "Cat's in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin ...is probably one of the hardest song for me to listen to without welling up. It sheds light on a new found respect for my father, that I never knew, I should have always had. The song saved my relationship with my father even if he didn't know it.
@@leeeverett8497 it's about a father who never has time for his son, is hardly ever home and unintentionally misses out on having a good relationship with his son. Then as he gets older and his son moves out and becomes his own man, the father wants to see him more but the son is now the one who doesn't have time for him. The song ends with the father realizing that his son has grown up and become just like him.
@@leeeverett8497 CrimsonRush117 pretty much nails it. It's about making time to be with your family despite needed to provide for them. Make the effort to spend time with them because one day they won't be there to spend time with ever again. it doesn't have to be a father son relationship but in this song it is. It's also something to be said about learning from the mistake of your elders and not repeating them.
Tears In Heaven was played at my son's funeral as was You Raise Me Up. I can't listen to either one without bawling, now. Music touches our souls in unexplainable ways.😌
Simple Man is a song I treasure. My son was murdered in 2022 from the hands of his ex-girlfriend. He had his drums and guitars with amps set up in my garage. He would have my house rocking, oh how I miss his sound! Had planned to sell his Pearl drums and other things, just can't do it yet. The love a mother has for her only son, a bond that will never be broken.
Yeap! ANGEL by Sarah Mclachlan is one of the most saddest song all over the world. Fallen, Sweet Surrender and I will remember you TOO!!! Also GOODBYE from EmmylouHarris 😭😭😭😭
NONE of these songs make my cry, but The Living Years and Tears in Heaven are songs that can really make 80% of the people turn really sad. My favorite of ALL these is The Sound of Silence. Beautiful masterpiece!!!
Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" makes me cry every time. It's too real. It's not just a cover, it's a vocal recollection of his life and the mistakes he's made.
Zori Day Well, you said it's a vocal recollection of his life and mistakes, except that the song is not about him, it's about Trent Reznor who wrote the song. But yeah, the words are relatable so it doesn't matter. Was just wondering if you were aware though
+Ash Hudson Pretty sure it was written about drug addiction (heroin) which could certainly be transposed into Johnie's life as he struggled with addiction his whole career. Either way, it's probably one of the only other covers on the list apart from Buckley's rendition of Hallelujah that the artist pours actual emotion into the song and makes it their own. And probably the only real 'tear' jerker on the list
Everybody Hurts is the song saved my life. I was ready to quit life but when I heard that song I realised I am not the only one who hurts.and yes, I cried when I heard it.
"Does any man know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours" - The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" Gordon Lightfoot Gives me goosebumps every time
Bit that always makes it real for me is: When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin', "Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya", At seven PM, a main hatchway caved in, he said, "Fellas, it's been good to know ya". It humanises the victims in a way that just talking about the number of deaths doesn't. It's probably not what they actually said in the real tragedy, but it's a great lyric. The captain going down with his ship and his men, just accepting their fate with one last show of gratitude.
Gordon brings this Tragedy and Sadness and the Savagery of Lake Superior(Gitchie Goomy) to life in an almost Religious way in this anthem and Highlight's solemnly the lives lost of these sailors and how important and truly loved they were by their families and friends and the listeners to this poignant tale.
Indeed, this song could only be second to Cash's rendition of Hurt. As a kid, I bought the 45 of Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and wore the grooves off of it. Listening to it in the dark, you felt it.
One of the songs that has me sobbing like a baby is “Vincent” by Don Maclean. Not only because of the heart wrenching dedication to Van Gogh and his misunderstood beauty, but also because it was one of my dad’s favourite songs. Ugh, so hard to listen to, but it has one of the most hauntingly beautiful melody and lyrics I’ve ever heard.
I hate this piece of shit song because he should have kept to himself instead of, "I know mate! The lads dead! I'll write some piece of crap song and make millions!! ...voila! he made his fucking millions!!
I much prefere the original by NIN.. There's a life performance from Trent online that will pull your heart out of your chest and tear it into pieces. It is almost to hard to bear his suffering there..
Johnny Cash’s version of “Hurt” will forever be my #1 make you cry song. It always reminds me of my Papa. I took him to see Walk The Line back when it was in theaters and it was the first and only time he’d ever been to a modern movie theater. His eyes lit up. I will always remember that day and “Hurt” brings back those amazing memories for me. I love you, Papa. 💕
Johnny Cash?? poor guy hit the bottle and became a slave to evangelical charlatans and believing in one of the 2800 manmade gods of history. If only he had studied evolution and sociobiology he could have lived an honest true life, without false indoctrination, sad.
damn your comment got me, my grandma passed away 6 years ago on my birthday it was depressing and for that reason i don’t celebrate my birthday anymore too much pain man
YES! That's what I just posted! Totally agree. More earthy and raw than the NiN version. It just gets me bawling, especially the part where his wife is lovingly looking at him. I dunno, it just does it every time. ;)
As a sailor, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” always gets me withe the line - “Does anyone know where the Love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?” I spent a lot of time sailing the world with the US Navy, and I can’t think of a lonelier way to die than in the dark among the waves.
@@arthurwright8827 thank you for your service. My husband was aboard the Myles Fox in the 70s. He spent a long time in Brooklyn, NY. He got out in 1980. Strange how tunes such as this evoke such memories. God bless you!
Every time I hear "The Livin" Years" I see my Father's vacant eyes on that table in Emergency and the Nurse telling me "Don't go in there"! I said, "That is my Father! You want to try and stop me?" He meant well but glad I went in. Oh Goddddddddd... I miss him. I also used that song in a play I wrote and produced. Love and miss him. Must go listen to it and have a good cry. That song HURTS!
John Denver made two songs that have caused me to soak many hankies with my tears. Back Home Again. It was playing in my head when I was bottomed out and came a 1/4 inch of blowing my brains out. Fortunately I didn't . On a happier note, Take Me Home Country Roads. Every time I hear it I just totally lose it. Reminds me of my old home town in rural Pennsylvania. I imagine me and my best friend walking down the unpaved road, when we have crossed over ro to the Afterlife. Barefoot, holding hands, chewing on a piece of grass, singing along, telling him, well Larry, we have arrived.
I grew up in Youngwood and Greensburg PA... I feel you brother... I feel you... I'll probably end up jumping off a bridge or blowing my brains out or both at the same time. Stay Strong!
Agree.. but listen also to Louis Armstrong's Bond movie tune "We have all the time in the world".. Don't care about the movie, cause the song narrative and ideas are much stronger.. Whenever the for instance worklife gets the better of me, I remind myself of this absolute gem that tells us to take it easier. Cause it's simply our OWN time. And it's more precious than gold.
"Vincent" by Don McLean has me tearing up no matter how many times I hear it. So moving, about a man, an artist, who painted for his sanity and never knowing how much his art became so influential and how so many love his paintings.
Oh jeez. I've never really cried at a song but ones that get me emotional: November Rain by Guns N Roses Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House Who Wants To Live Forever by Queen Real Love by the Beatles All My Love by Led Zeppelin All the ads that I have to skip on TH-cam
“He stopped loving her today” by the great George Jones(RIP) considered by many in the industry(CM) as the greatest song of all time . Gets me every time😢💔💔
If Eric Clapton had never picked up his guitar after his son died , i for one would not have blamed him. To me this is and always be his best song ever
We played this Song at my Eldest Sons Funeral for his Dad who committed suicide on 28th November 2011 - he was a massive Queen Fan, breaks my Heart listening to it & under the circumstances of Freddie Mercury writing this Track it defo does deserve a mention!
I remember exactly where I was when Eric Clapton's son died. In fact, I was about 6 blocks away and never knew what was happening so close to where I was. Thinking about it still puts a huge pit in my stomach. Being a father myself, I still think about how terrifying that child's final moments must have been. Sure, it is a beautiful song, but I am certain that Clapton would not only give up that song, but his entire career, to have this tragedy never have happened.
@@DaryMatera Yes... As a father, it sent me into a rage of emotions. I was hurt, angry, I cried I even hyperventilated. I was overcome with grief for a child that was not mine. Because, as a parent, I knew the pain of this mother and father. It was just difficult for me to imagine. At the time, I was a young father. My kid was recently born and I was working hard in NY to support my kid. I could not imagine a horrific death like this for an adult, much less a child. It's funny, today, I hear about something like this, and I just go make coffee. Time has a way of hardening us to the tragedies that not only come, but are yet to come. I guess instances like this have made me hard. I still feel horrible, but I feel horrible much differently.
@@danminutsich7509 Life can become very difficult to bear. At times we need to armour ourselves so we can cope with the tragedies we’re experiencing. The pain is still there, yet we’re protected from feeling the depth of that pain, sometimes to even preserve our sanity.
@@maryloulauren8108 Sure, but I would ask you....What protects us from the depth of pain? And, how does our sanity become preserved? And, as far as armoring ourselves from tragedies. I don't believe that is the right approach. I would say that taking this position can be double-edged. You see, I believe that sometimes, and certainly not at first, but pain can eventually become one of the highest expressions of love. An emotional sacrifice that grows with time. I believe that pain becomes a badge of honor that we not only learn to live with, but embrace. I also don't believe that pain is an enemy. The thing is, pain is something that we have been conditioned to fear, so we never embrace or accept it immediately. And, although unwelcome at first, I believe that pain eventually becomes a stranger that walks alongside us for the remainder of our days. Pain becomes a partner who we get used feeling, and maybe even come to rely on some day. However, mostly, I believe that accepting pain is the only way to truly let go. That's my 2-cents.

I wholeheartedly agree. For the longest time I couldn't listen to Unchained Melody without crying like a democrat. Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin makes me cry too....
Robin Gibb's amazing, ethereal vibrato voice will make anyone cry, There has never been, nor will there ever be, a voice like his. In "Rings Around the Moon," Robin's voice was at its peak. Also, the Bee Gees sang a cover of Carole King's "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" that many who have seen the video have commented is better than the original. Their harmonies are unbeatable -- smooth, tear-jerking, and beautiful. Please reconsider.
@@stardustmelody2709 you're confused. Cat Stevens did "Father and Son". "Cats in the cradle" was a song, similar topic, by Harry Chapin. Not too lazy are you?
Dirk Tolenaars How can I try, to explain? Cause when I do, he turns away, again. It's always been the same, same old story. From the moment I could talk, I was ordered to listen. Now there's a way, and I know, that I have to go away; I know, I have to go.
Jovano Dion Manuel No. I've discorved this beautiful piece thanks to my father about 10 years ago. But the way you discover it isn't important. I simply hope you also dearly enjoy this piece of music. And consider yourself lucky to have discovered this amazing song. Just like me and many others.
Can't believe Queen is not in the List !!! 1) These are the days of our lives 2) Love of My Life 3) The show must go on 4) A winter's tale These songs of Queen always makes everyone cry
“One More Light” by Linkin Park always makes me cry, listening to Chester singing about caring about people passing away especially given he was struggling so badly with his mental health
Tears in Heaven is so emotional because Eric wrote because of personal loss of a child and only performed the song a number of times before making an announcement that he can’t even perform it anymore because it was way too emotional for him on stage. So all of that makes ‘Tears in Heaven’ very empathetical, especially when Eric Clapton gets choked up whilst singing it.
It is neraly impossible to go on with your life if your child dies, its not a phrase when parents call their child "my life" in many languages. The incredible grief Calpton and Lory had is crippleing. Lory also lost his other son
My father(adopted me after his only son died) always listened to this song. His son died right before his 21st birthday in a tragic car accident. He always said he wanted to do better as a parent and took me from a horrible situation. Treated me like his little princess. I always thought he saved me. When he died in 2020, I realized that I was the one who saved him. Rip, my precious Daddy! ❤️🎈
I have to agree with you on that. It's beautiful, riveting and haunting. I thought they did a good job with their list but honestly, I've only ever cried during two of them; but Everybody Hurts takes the cake! If you have pent up pain and you can't release it during that song, you need professional help.
@@donnadayle3762 Totally. I can see her working a low paying job in a dying town and barely able to keep herself and her father alive. She believes her father will get better and they can move to the city and have the American Dream when we know it will never happen. How is "cat's in the cradle' not make that list? Honestly that song is 2 and presumably 3 times the tear jerker. I remember listening to it as a kid from the kid's perspective and it made me cry. Then listening to it as a father at midlife feeling the same pressures the song references to the middle aged dad. I am not old enough yet, but I suspect it really hits a chord with older men too seeing the world go by without them and move on...
Yeah the Ugly Kid Joe version makes my dad really emotional, and it makes me cry. I'm surprised it didn't make the list, along with Country Roads and Piano Man.
The Living Years by Mike + The Mechanics gets me. It makes me think of my Dad. I could count on one hand how many times he told me he loved me. Growing up, he often called me stupid. I think he told me he was proud of me two times. We had a very strained relationship.
I am sorry that you had to go through that. I know a lot of people, now that I am middle-aged, who are still trying to overcome something negative from their childhood that has affected their entire life.
@@rpierce3336 Well, that is a stupid question, I hope you are not a father or mother, because if you are able to accept that it is okay to call "stupid" to a child, most likely you will do it with your children, I hope you don't have children yet and that you never have them, you will ruin his life if you do it.
+keith lumb Haha, i know, right? Thought I was the only one who finds that song emotional. But wasn't it some licensed song before it appeared in Spongebob?

listening to wish you were here while grieving for a friend or family member it will do it. I play that song at funerals whenever I'm asked to play a song.
Tears in heaven wins for me too. I lost my dad just a weeks ago and our oldest cat last week. So currently in that very emotional spot again but only that song actually made me cry. Hallelujah is a song by anyone that always brings tears to my eyes and I refused to let it be played at my mom's funeral because I was already so emotional over it.
Cats in the Cradle does it to me every time without fail. I’m tearing up just typing the name of the song for God’s sake. How could this song NOT be on your list.
Richard Boyd : E.C. doesn't even play "Tears in Heaven" live anymore. It was therapy for him and now he no longer needs it. Why are you still crying over it?
"Don't tell me theres no hope at all. Together we stand. Divided we fall". I just had to think of those lyrics to wash something out of my eye. I teared up writing this.
About 15 years ago, I was working at Tower Records. One day, a label rep got staffers and I into a room with a VCR and produced a promo tape. We were among the first to see the video for "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. I knew Trent Reznor's version, but Johnny owned it and it's his song. Knowing how huge Cash is in his influence and seeing him so frail near death was too much. I lost and broke down crying right there. Everyone had a similar reaction.
Brynden Rivers I don't care what you have a 'PhD in. Letting oneself become a 'junky' is having no self control, disrespect for the body, and total disregard for the consequences.
'Hurt' by Johnny Cash You have to do a pretty good job with somebody else's material when an artist like Trent Reznor says that he can't beat your cover and will never perform the song again.
Don’t get me wrong I love Nine Inch Nails to death, Trent Reznor is an amazing artist. But the way Johnny Cash preformed the song is amazing, it’s better than the original. You can really hear his pain, and that’s what makes the song so intense. I can’t even listen to the song anymore because of the emotion put into the song, it’s too much lol

I've thought the same. It also gave a poetic pause to Robin Williams' character in "Good Morning, Vietnam" when he started to see the horrors of the war.
When I think about the brutality, the pain, the humiliation, the indignity, and the oppression that black people have gone through in the past 100 years, and then you hear this song sung by a black man, it just breaks me up every time.

He would have my house rocking, oh how I miss his sound! Had planned to sell his Pearl drums and other things, just can't do it yet. The love a mother has for her only son, a bond that will never be broken.
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry to both of you for the loss of your sons.
My little cousin died 11 months ago of pneumonia. He was 13 months old. Tears in Heaven does it for me. God Bless Lucas.

Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" makes me cry every time. It's too real. It's not just a cover, it's a vocal recollection of his life and the mistakes he's made.
Even though it's a cover
+Ash Hudson Yeah?
Zori Day Well, you said it's a vocal recollection of his life and mistakes, except that the song is not about him, it's about Trent Reznor who wrote the song. But yeah, the words are relatable so it doesn't matter. Was just wondering if you were aware though
Ash Hudson I know, I said it was a cover several times. I'm very aware. Johnny Cash did many covers.
The saddest songs are those that get interrupted by commercials ;_;

"Does any man know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours" - The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" Gordon Lightfoot
Gives me goosebumps every time
Bit that always makes it real for me is:
When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin',
"Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya",
At seven PM, a main hatchway caved in, he said,
"Fellas, it's been good to know ya".
TOTALLY. When He died. The Mariners Church tolled the Bells 30 times. Fitting. That song ..its in a class by itself.
Indeed, this song could only be second to Cash's rendition of Hurt. As a kid, I bought the 45 of Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and wore the grooves off of it. Listening to it in the dark, you felt it.
"And all that remains is the faces and the names of the wives and the sons and the daughters".
Me too. Wonderful song, makes me cry but I love it.
"Daniel" by Elton John has always reminded me of my died much too soon older brother.
I agree, McLean should be on any "sad" list, all his songs are so blue.

It is so hard growing older because we lose our parents. No one prepares you for that!!

"Vincent" by Don McLean has me tearing up no matter how many times I hear it. So moving, about a man, an artist, who painted for his sanity and never knowing how much his art became so influential and how so many love his paintings.

No problem, man.
Kid walked out an open unscreened window in a high rise.

Tears in Heaven always makes me cry. The context of the song is so sad. I just cry all the time when I hear it. His poor son.

"The show must go on" by queen, a song about freddie struggling to even write music as he slowly died from aids
SingItSlender743 Who Wants to Live Forever!
True that should've been on there
These are the days of our lives freddies last song
100th like
Agreed, The show must go on and Who wants to live forever are still hard to listen to.
Ill be right behind you, Josephine - Josh Woodward. Makes me cry every time
How is "cat's in the cradle' not make that list? Honestly that song is 2 and presumably 3 times the tear jerker. I remember listening to it as a kid from the kid's perspective and it made me cry. Then listening to it as a father at midlife feeling the same pressures the song references to the middle aged dad. I am not old enough yet, but I suspect it really hits a chord with older men too seeing the world go by without them and move on...
There's a nice interview with Harry Chapin's widow and son on TH-cam about that song.
Now I don't have to watch the video. Thank you.
I got a good song it’s called you don’t love me anymore by Eddie rabbitt
Perfect
Yeah the Ugly Kid Joe version makes my dad really emotional, and it makes me cry. I'm surprised it didn't make the list, along with Country Roads and Piano Man.
You can hear the pain in the song Tears in Heaven. I couldn't imagine the pain he went through.
If you want to hear pain in someones heart. Listen to Alyssa Lies
Elvis presley gospel
Elvis presley gospels
OMG it's heartbreaking
Alyssa Lies was about a little girl he knew and very touching, But Tears in Heaven is about his own son.
The Living Years by Mike + The Mechanics gets me. It makes me think of my Dad. I could count on one hand how many times he told me he loved me. Growing up, he often called me stupid. I think he told me he was proud of me two times. We had a very strained relationship.
Were doing something stupid. When he called you stupid?
I am sorry that you had to go through that. I know a lot of people, now that I am middle-aged, who are still trying to overcome something negative from their childhood that has affected their entire life.
@@rpierce3336 Well, that is a stupid question, I hope you are not a father or mother, because if you are able to accept that it is okay to call "stupid" to a child, most likely you will do it with your children, I hope you don't have children yet and that you never have them, you will ruin his life if you do it.
he was a jerk...you learned a valuable lesson...you can & will do better...just TRY!
@@rpierce3336 It was usually when he was helping me with math homework.
*You Can Let Go- Crystal Shawanda
*Concrete Angel- Martina McBride
*Time To Say Goodbye- Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman
*End Of May- Michael Bublé
Another song that should've been on this video is "These Are The Days of Our Lives" by Queen. Makes me cry just thinking about it.
Where's Spongebob Sweet Victory, that drum solo made me cry
+keith lumb Haha, i know, right? Thought I was the only one who finds that song emotional. But wasn't it some licensed song before it appeared in Spongebob?
Not sure about Sweet Victory, Gary Come Home was pretty sad tho.
+Jack Seery true I cried for 20 mins when that song came on
+keith lumb Gave me chills as a child
+Magnus Henrikson XD
After my wife Died after 30 years of marriage "Have You Seen Her" by the Chi Lites helped me while walking along the Sunset shores of Lake Michigan!
Sorry to hear that ☹️
Rocking Robin, I am so sorry. Lost my husband couple of years ago myself. Also now by lake Michigan
I'm just waiting for a letter... or something...
Sorry to hear that man my she rest in peace
💔❤
Nothing compares 2U sung by Sinéad O’Connor. I cry every time I hear it. Also, the Enya song heard at the beginning of the video always makes me cry. It was used in a video that came out after the World Trade Center came down. The song is haunting
Prince wrote Nothing Compares 2U.
Wow, what a beautiful song
Bridge Over Troubled Waters is a close tie with Sound Of Silence...

Indeed.
This gives me faith.

10. Wild Horses - conveys no sadness to me at all. Ageless....yes. Stood hair on ends? LOL Not even close. Nice song
9. Sound of Silence - yes.
8. Wish you were here. - Great classic song. Tearjerker? Sorry, not feeling it. Not at all
7. One Sweet Day - No tears or any sadness. Love the song. Lame choice
6. The Living Years - Yes this could do it
5. Candle in the Wind - This is a good selection
4. Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley - Most superb choice
3. Everybody Hurts by REM, - this is one that brings tears to my eyes every time
2. Hurt by Johnny Cash - perfect choice
1. Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton - nice
+Steven Martinovich
As for REM, IMO it could be "Losing my religion" instead.
listening to wish you were here while grieving for a friend or family member it will do it. I play that song at funerals whenever I'm asked to play a song.
+brian Randall you should be here
Hallelujah, brings tears to my eyes all the time
REM makes me cry even in my job when i am listening to radio.
In reality, there are thousands of songs that could make this list.
The list would pretty much never end.
Because we are mostly powered by sadness
@@xgreenapplex Maulinda, that's a depressing thought. Probably true, but still depressing.
True that!
It's always different, for different people
Cats in the Cradle does it to me every time without fail. I’m tearing up just typing the name of the song for God’s sake. How could this song NOT be on your list.
John Tate Several of Harry’s songs... Better Place to Be. Taxi. Etc.
Little brother - All for you. Very cathartic song for sons with problems with their father's.
"Tears in Heaven" - Eric Clapton, after his son died.
Richard Boyd that song feel very deep to me still suffering from depression of loveone
Very sorry. I suppose most of us have suffered loss at one time or another. I feel for you. At least we're not alone...
I've will never know how Eric Clapton is able to finish this song.
Richard Boyd : E.C. doesn't even play "Tears in Heaven" live anymore. It was therapy for him and now he no longer needs it. Why are you still crying over it?
Richard Boyd sad
Everyone had a similar reaction.
edalder2000
I'm a huge cash fan and he done the song Justice... but NIN owns it and no one can come close
its not cash's song, its 9 inch nails song, cash covered it
Brynden Rivers junky pride?
Brynden Rivers I don't care what you have a 'PhD in. Letting oneself become a 'junky' is having no self control, disrespect for the body, and total disregard for the consequences.
Worked there too...
Freddie mercury, “These are the days of our lives, “ is a top for me
Agreed and mother love.
Its the last song he made before his passing in 1991
and Who Wants To Live Forever
That's what I was thinking too. And the song Bijou.
Or who "wants to live forever"
'Hurt' by Johnny Cash
You have to do a pretty good job with somebody else's material when an artist like Trent Reznor says that he can't beat your cover and will never perform the song again.
No one can best hurt. But love songs wise il follow you into the dark by death dab for cutie is sad
Whisky lulaby or The little girl.
You can hear the pain in his voice
Don’t get me wrong I love Nine Inch Nails to death, Trent Reznor is an amazing artist. But the way Johnny Cash preformed the song is amazing, it’s better than the original. You can really hear his pain, and that’s what makes the song so intense. I can’t even listen to the song anymore because of the emotion put into the song, it’s too much lol
Interesting, I just saw Nine Inch Nails late last year here in SF and the last song they played was their song, Hurt.
One of my all-time favorites would be" He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother" by The Hollies.
“Little soldier boy
Come marching home
Brave soldier boy
Comes marching home”
Fuck bro chill out, I’m sad enough as is
wtf bro 🤣

It makes me feel hella nostalgic not that sad tho
I've thought the same. It also gave a poetic pause to Robin Williams' character in "Good Morning, Vietnam" when he started to see the horrors of the war.
I find it uplifting not sad.
That would be bittersweet.
When I think about the brutality, the pain, the humiliation, the indignity, and the oppression that black people have gone through in the past 100 years, and then you hear this song sung by a black man, it just breaks me up every time.
