One of his best songs. Definitely brings back memories of past loves. Yes, it hurts sometimes. Bur if you haven't loved, you haven't lived. We all have loves that were lost, it just means you've really lived.

The best feeling ever when you’re in the moment, the worst when it ends. I had 2 Mary’s, 1 a few months before shipping to boot camp and 1 a few months before I EAS’d out of the military. Sometimes I wonder if I should have set my goals aside to stay. Guess I’ll never know. Great memories though
I remember it just as clear as day- kickin' up clouds down the dirt roads of my small town, and all the other small towns within 20 miles of it (gas was a LOT cheaper then), blazing my way through the summer of '04 and right on into my senior year; wearing this album (and this song in particular) out in that old Chevy Cheyenne, having absolutely no concept of just how fast those "endless" summer days would bleed into 19 years; almost believing I'd be 17 years old forever. My first real love was going on three years, and this song burned her image into my heart so warmly every time that even now it's almost kind of hard to believe this beloved old tune could conjure thoughts of anyone but her... it's funny how time changes what you once believed unchangeable. I still think of her every now and then when I come across this ol' favorite of mine, but with a very different sort of fondness. Nearly 20 years have passed, along with two other serious relationships (and a handful of lesser ones, lol); six years as a machinegunner in the USMC, a tour to Ramadi, all manner of wild adventures; growth, loss, lessons learned, mistakes made... Funnily enough, I ended up marrying my first crush; a girl I fell head over heels for the first time I saw her the summer between 5th and 6th grade. She wasn't that first serious relationship, nor the second; but she was the last, thank God. In our 15 years together, we've been through a LOT. We've had more fun than sometimes seems possible in this world, and we've endured seasons out of harmony. We learned to stick it through, and are now something indefinable. We've endured HORRIBLE pain together; the loss of our first daughter, natural disasters, financial struggle, miscarriage, and more. We've been each other's every single thing. When I listened to this song just now, I did so while singing it to our nine month old baby girl Alynna May (my Lynny May); tears streaming down my face. So very much has changed in the years since first I heard this song and last... now I think of three beautiful girls when I hear it; MY girls, and I don't see how they could ever be... anything but mine.... 💚
Your words about your life are beautiful! We all have good times and bad, and you, like me, have someone to share them with. I am blessed, as you are. 😍

Coming back in 2023 to say this song is still one of my faves and by my favorite artist. I make sure to play this song while I'm driving through the Grand Strand. Thank you, Kenny, for years of enjoyment of your music. Signed a LONG TIME fan.
My Wife and I met on the Saturday night before Hurricane Katrina come rolling into Biloxi, MS we sat on the beach that whole night till the sun came up on Sunday morning I went to the Fire Station to work and she went home both of us not knowing if we'd ever see each other again...on the drive home this song was playing and we both remembered and felt the same way after knowing each other just a few hours that this would be "our song" and we would always be together. Now here we are 15yrs later happily married and still dance to this song like no one is watching....thanks Kenny
💔 😢 I’m so sorry! Damn, wasn’t prepared for this, and it gutted me. To know that a once happy relationship, is no more. I’m so sorry for all the pain that you endured. I’m so sorry that it ended up this way. I know I’m just a stranger on the internet 🤷🏾♀️ but I sincerely care about you as my fellow human being. I pray that your heart fully recovers and you can love again in the future. Take care of yourself.
The person who comes to mind when you hear this song....there will never be another one like them. If you get to be with that person....be SO grateful. Most of us don't.
The person that I think of is my wife. We knew each other for 2 weeks moved in together and 1 week later we got married and together going on 16 years this year
I met my soon-to-be husband at the beach during the summer of 2020. We were literally sneaking out at night to see one another and spent ALL night together. The rest of the town was literally asleep. I had to leave to go home while he stayed and finished working there for the summer, but 3 weeks later, he made the first of many 5 hour trips to come visit me. A few months later, we moved in together, and now we're planning on getting married within the next year or two. I sent him this song after I got home from my vacation. I knew he was the one from the second we met and I couldn't be happier. I fall more in love with him every day and it's been more than 2 years. I LOVE this song, I love my life, and I love my future husband so much! I'm so grateful, blessed, and lucky. ❤️
Something about the coast is just magical. My girlfriend at the time and I took a trip to Tybee Island in 2017, since I always wanted to go there. In 2019, I brought along a wedding ring. When we had to move our wedding in 2020, we kept our honeymoon trip there booked. And a few months ago, the day after I left a terrible job that was threatening to ruin our marriage, we stayed at the same place again.
And though it wasn't a trip with just us, we did have a great night in myrtle beach in 2023, riding past the former pavilion (where this video was filmed)
Hiow romantic....a real life fairy tale. so happy for you Dear. So much unhappiness in the world. So many lonely people, failed relationships, and broken hearts. Get up everyday and dance around your coffee table and love that good man.
I can relate. After 50years, 6months,10days I lost my wife to complications from dementia may 13th, 2023. Hey, I don't see how she could be anything but mine . I love you verna mae!!
This song! Omg! I'm 44 and after 23 years with my husband we finally had a vacation in daytona alone. The best memory I have is the sounds of the arcade games on one side and the ocean on the other. Nothing will ever replace that memory of an 80s kid being legal on the boardwalk even if it took 30 years! 😍
My heart is filled with joy knowing that I am blessed with the best fans thanks for commenting,I received and appreciate the feedback! where are you from??
@@kennychesney9929 your music is so special to me. I'm a Tennessee girl but saw you in Indianapolis many years ago. It was September 19th, my birthday. I'll never forget it. It was the last night of your last tour. Thank you for sharing your gift. I still play your CD's (😊). I actually listened to one of many that I have today. Still bringing me joy. You are special. Your music is so good. Thank you for recording again. I need KC in my life! Love you big!!
I met my "Mary" at the VP Fair in 1989. We've now been married for 28 years and have two kids. Sometimes it actually works out. This song always reminds me of that feeling of summer and young love.

Growing up on the beach in South Texas is a distant memory but even in Alaska this song takes me back to my youth. We surfed, drank cheap beer and lived life to it fullest. To all you young ladies I held who vacationed on South Padre in the late 70’s and early 80’s, I didn’t love you then but I love you now and you’re indelibly etched into my past.
Nailed it. Took me back further. Late 80s at that very amusement park with a summer love. I miss that place and it touches my heart as that summer love passed away years ago.
And when that first chorus starts and the base and harmony vocals come in, with the visuals, damn! If that doesn't move you, I just don't know what to tell you!
Chesney really crushes it with this one. One of the few country songs I can stand to listen to anymore. reminds me of every relationship I've ever had. None of it was ever really real. And then it was over too soon.
Thank you for your nice comment on my post i really appreciate it, it means a lot to me. Please be careful with those imposter claiming to be me and I will be glad to get feedback from you asap.
This song brings back the best summer love I ever had! We've been married for 25 years now and he's my best friend and I love him so much! Oh, the memories are priceless!
I have listened to this song countless times over the years, more than any other song of yours. It speaks to me on so many different levels. Thank you.
Hearing this song always take me back to when I was 16 working and this beautiful girl came into my life. Mindy. She was tall, bluest eyes I ever seen. She introduce me to Doritos and cheese dip. Til this day thats how I eat my Doritos. She moved away at the end of the summer but I her memory will always remain.
Yea man, girls have a way of making us giddy and silly. That's cool though you'll always think of her whenever you mow Doritos lol. For me, this song is about cruising round with the fam while my 6 yr old daughter hits the high notes at 4:30 and 4:43 and my 13 yr old son sings backup lol. They kill it too lol. - Stay safe everyone!!
I too get chills listening to this song. It’s 2022, and still one of my favorites! I graduated in 1987, from Evans High school in Orlando. Weekends and Spring Break were spent at the beach, Daytona and New Smyrna Beach. So MANY memories! Life goes so fast. Now I have kids of my own. I tell them to appreciate this time, it’s the best time of your life!
This is one of the most underrated, best written and performed songs in history. If this had come out on the 80s, 70s or 60s, it would be on radio forever. I'm not a huge Kenny fan, but this is greatness.
If you grew up in SC you can't listen to this and not remember all the good times at O.Blvd. The Pavilion and the Hurricane shaped our lives and are an intricate part of our memories. It's time to ride down there, the days are getting longer. Oh and Amy Cobb is incredibly beautiful.
MITCH0760 Exactly.. I grew up in NC an hour away from Myrtle Beach. I listen to this and it brings back memories of Ocean Blvd, the Pavillion and the Spanish Gallion.
MITCH0760 you don't have to of grown up in south carolina just to remember that amusement park dumb shit. I lived in north Carolina 18 years before permanently moving to Tennessee six years ago when I was 18 after me and my husband married. We're now both 24. I lived four hours away from myrtle beach and used to take family trips to the beach and amusement park all the time in the 90s/early 2000s.
Kenny is by far one of the best country artist around today, Even the early stuff he did is still music to my ears. I've been a fan since he put out tinman when he was still playing fairs. I saw him in Tallahassee before he released that song. When he still working his music table meeting the fans and shaking hands.
We grew up going to that pavilion and almost everybody went there on graduation. Its no longer there but I'm blessed to have all the memories. This song was pretty much repeated several times a summer in real life. Shame that Myrtle Beach won't ever be the way it was. ✌️
The ultimate 'summer romance' song. Hits all the emotions and feelings during the summer time, while Reality is waiting in the wings come September. Awesome tune.
Amen. I am in the summer after my senior year of high school and it’s so hard not to fall for a girl. But deep down inside I know that reality is going to smack me in the face once I go off to school.
Was painting the old house my aunt left my dad. She raised him and my uncle when their mom died. I had this song playing on an old boom box and the echoes from the song bounced off the pines Magical! A tribute to her and the life she gave up as a young woman to survive in the depression.
Listening to this now at 44 remembering when I was 16...and the whole world just at my feet. Damn, I want those years back!! Now...just don't have as much to lose. Where did it all go?? Did I let it all go?? My fucking life, man.
I understand, too. I'm 47. I watch this video, remembering sitting on those same steps at the Pavilion, my life ahead of me. Now I here I am working to get by. Still make my annual trip to Myrtle Beach, but it just ain't the same when you're grown and not quite as carefree.
I spent four years living in Daytona Beach, Florida. Even with this song being written in the context of Myrtle Beach, every time I hear it I get taken back to the years I spent by the sea with my best friends. That's the place I learned who I was and came to appreciate what I had in life. It's the place I spent days upon days sitting by the sea watching the waves roll in and feeling the warm breeze off the ocean as the sun rose. It's the place I made countless memories that define my young adulthood. I've moved to the west coast since then and am beginning to make a new set of memories on the shores of the Pacific, but this song always takes me back to my years in Daytona with the people I love.
I traveled to 30A in Walton County in the panhandle back in March. I made so many memories there with my brother and my friend before we all headed off to college. I even met my prom date there, which is a really long story. That place will forever have the best memories attached to it. I’ve been to a lot of exotic places but nothing beats the vibes of those beaches. I’m already planning next years trip.
This song embodies what it’s like to be on spring break in the late 80’s and meeting that one girl who comes to mind when you here this song. The world today seems so crazy. Life was so simple back then. It’s almost sad. The more advanced we get the more apart we grow. It seems like everyone has something up their sleeve. We’re all suspicious. Anyway, to the girl named Tammy from Birmingham Alabama that I met back in 88. I still think of you when I hear this song.
@@frelynn more like life is simple at 19.......even though we think it's not at 51 I know at least for me it sure was simple at 19! Naivety is bittersweet! Happiness & Health to you ALL.....🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
Very true statement. This song and video take me to a place that was simple yet thrilling. I married a Tammy from Alabama, if it was here I got a good one and she is well taken care of. Haha
This songs reminds me of "That summertime", a poem i wrote. Ive never showed anyone my poetry but here goes. Hope y'all like it. All nights reserved at weekend corner bar. 3am phone calls where id walk no matter how far. Id creep under the moon light just walk right ur door. You would sleep as i would lay.. trying to hold on to u and cast the time away. For I knew, Id begone come that break day. Only You could I crave...As The songs Always Remains the same, for the man I will love,...over n over again. Oh, That summertime .I Never want to End! And Wow, what a ride summer love of my life. Then the heat of those long days turns into the darkest of night. And though I tried to run and hide, from the ending to our love, But then i took my last breathe ,...... of our summertime! Setting here in 3-22-23...loving this song as much if not more then I did when it 1st came out...I just love this man's songs...100% Kenny Chesney fan...hello from Kentucky
My youngest daughter has been a KC fan since she was 3. Her father and I divorced when she was 8. I moved her bed into my room at that point. One night she said to me she was going to live with me for ever. When she turned 19 she left this home for Chicago. As she sat on my lap she said I’m sorry I lied to you. I won’t live w you forever. I played this song as my 19 year old sat on my lap. We were both crying. She rolled out of my driveway as I played this song. Great song
RIP Myrtle Beach Pavilion. I used to go there every year in the 80s and early 90s. So many great memories. Thank you Kenny Chesney for filming this video there.
I met the love of my life when I was 13yo. We haven’t seen each other in 39 yrs & he recently sent me this song…and life finally brought us back together again. He left Iowa for me…came back to New England! ❤️

I literally just got out of Kenny's concert. I've always liked this song, but today it was something special. Getting the true meaning behind the song and all our "flame raves" it made me tear up! I love you Kenny!
I still listen, this was my life on a surf board. In between the drugs, I still remember Mary. It was a great time for life. P.s. I was here before TV. Thanks for a life that got you out there. Couldn't forget it if I had to.
I just heard this on the radio, and it gave me chills ❤️ im still sad about the fact, that they demolished the Pavilion at Myrtle beach, where the amusement park part of this video was filmed. 😢
This song does something to me i can’t even explain. I have goosebumps and tears in my eyes the entire song. I grew up going to the beach and just hits home.
Wanna cry listening. I remember where I was when my at the time pipeliner hubby told me "I think of u when I hear this. I love u" RIP Billy Jenkins 1st my BFF then my soul mate.
2024 and i often revisit this song and the memory its attached to. Shoulda coulda wanta, too late now. Still looking for a love that was greater than yours.

@kennychesney , I was on vacation from my job in the Middle east , I was driving a rental car in Virginia and heard " Kenny Chesney - Anything But Mine " and for some reason in that brief 5 seconds I felt like my first time in America even though I was born here. So thank you so much Sir for your song..
This is my Favorite Kenny Chesney Song.Always reminds me of going to the Beach, the waves, walking on the sandy beaches, the sound of the sea gulls and watching the sand pipers running from waves.
Spent all of my spring breaks in Gulf Shores and/or Orange Beach as a teenager and this video brings back memories! I’m now 51. Love all your music, Kenny and the way it takes me back!♥️

I never heard this song before my dad sang it a talent show, many years ago. He gave me chills singing it. Proud of you dad!! Thanks for the memories ❤😊
Sad to say the Hurricane at Myrtle Beach, the old Pavilion, is no longer there near the beach. It's now an open lot, only good thing there is the CCM festival. B&C moved everything in the name of "development". Can't say it's any better now... I'm 57 and remember all those days spent as a child with my parents and cousins and later on my teens and twenties cruising the beach, parking and walking the strand or going in the pavilion's haunted house, log flumes, the Mind Scrambler , the centipede... does anyone else remember all these things?
Thank you Kenny Chesney for all the musicThat you given us over the years you are one heck of an artist and so is your band they have been behind you all the way
When you love somebody with all your heart and soul, you can't see either of you with someone else. Unfortunately they don't always feel the same. Whatever will be will be.

I remember when Kenny Chesney was just a barely "Next to Nothing" known Country Artist in Nashville, living off of Tip Jars. Never, Ever imagined he would make it this BIG . This Song is a memory maker ...
I could never get tired of hearing this absolutely amazing song! By far one of his best and he has had many great ones. Kenny Chesney is by far my all time favorite Country Artist! Dont get me wrong, I love the classics like George Strait, Alan Jackson, etc but Kenny truly is the best. His music is pure magic!
Love...is when another's happiness is essential to ones own. Yet it isn't a chore; all it needs is mutual respect, understanding, trust and honesty. The possibilities are endless, but a strong foundation is crucial...vital. I wish all Love, it can be so healing. Or, deadly... OM 🕉 Namaste 🙏
@@daniellerichardson9486 Yes it did, we did the long distance thing between Omaha (me) and Portland (her) for 8 months. She moved here 8 months and 1 day after our second first date. We will be married 4 years in March.
Songs like this one hits hard. I never dated the guy this reminds me of, but I was madly in love with him. I still think about him from time to time, and I miss him. It doesn't make me sad, but I smile whenever I do think about him. Wherever he is, I hope he's happy.
This is probably the one comment that I can relate to the most. I have someone that I never officially dated but went to prom with, me and her don’t talk anymore but I’m so glad it happened. Honestly I think God didn’t let it happen to save me. If we ended up getting together and it ended it would crush me. But since that didn’t happen, I’m just happy it happened. Be happy because it happened not sad because it ended. Those at the words I live by.

When things get rough, always remember to play this song and close your eyes.
Hiow romantic....a real life fairy tale. so happy for you Dear. So much unhappiness in the world. So many lonely people, failed relationships, and broken hearts. Get up everyday and dance around your coffee table and love that good man.
Anybody that has ever loved and lost can relate to this song..,It brings backs some amazing memories. Thanks Kenny.
Also for those of us still waiting to be loved 🥰

This song! Omg! I'm 44 and after 23 years with my husband we finally had a vacation in daytona alone. The best memory I have is the sounds of the arcade games on one side and the ocean on the other. Nothing will ever replace that memory of an 80s kid being legal on the boardwalk even if it took 30 years! 😍

You know a music vid is great when it gives an ache in your chest and you have a feeling you experienced over 20 years ago.
Still one of the greatest songs ever ❤
Thanks for your continuous love and support Shaquela❤❤

I have listened to this song countless times over the years, more than any other song of yours. It speaks to me on so many different levels. Thank you.
Hearing this song always take me back to when I was 16 working and this beautiful girl came into my life. Mindy. She was tall, bluest eyes I ever seen. She introduce me to Doritos and cheese dip. Til this day thats how I eat my Doritos. She moved away at the end of the summer but I her memory will always remain.
I met a girl on vacation and ended up going to prom with her a month later. We don’t talk anymore but hell, that was the experience of a lifetime
Doritos and queso are the best 🤣

Such a timeless song. So much nostalgia. Such good music
This is one of the most underrated, best written and performed songs in history. If this had come out on the 80s, 70s or 60s, it would be on radio forever. I'm not a huge Kenny fan, but this is greatness.
2022❤ he still the greatest beside Tim and gs hank
Agreed!
John I'm sure we have walked the same paths on that beach. I had my first real date at the Pavilion.
+John West I live in nc about an hour and a half maybe a little further. What part of nc are you in? I have grown up going to that same beach as well.
I am in the Fayetteville area.
As many times as I strolled past it staying at The Polynesian, I never appreciated it until it was gone.
His best song hands down

Was painting the old house my aunt left my dad. She raised him and my uncle when their mom died. I had this song playing on an old boom box and the echoes from the song bounced off the pines Magical! A tribute to her and the life she gave up as a young woman to survive in the depression.

Live life that's all. It gets better...?
Life is simple if you let it this covid 19 ain't stopping me

Very true statement. This song and video take me to a place that was simple yet thrilling. I married a Tammy from Alabama, if it was here I got a good one and she is well taken care of. Haha
This sums it all up perfectly. Things were so much simpler back then. Everything was better. Especially the girls.

Walking alone beneath the lights of that miracle mile
This songs reminds me of "That summertime", a poem i wrote. Ive never showed anyone my poetry but here goes. Hope y'all like it.
All nights reserved at weekend corner bar. 3am phone calls where id walk no matter how far. Id creep under the moon light just walk right ur door. You would sleep as i would lay.. trying to hold on to u and cast the time away. For I knew, Id begone come that break day.
Only You could I crave...As The songs Always Remains the same,
for the man I will love,...over n over again.
Oh, That summertime .I Never want to End!
And Wow, what a ride summer love of my life.
Then the heat of those long days turns into the darkest of night.
And though I tried to run and hide, from the ending to our love,
But then i took my last breathe ,...... of our summertime!

The amusement park scenes were filmed at Family Kingdom, not the Pavilion. I'm pretty sure the Hurricane is still at Family Kingdom.
