I hadn't heard of the symbolism of the parrot. Wonderful to see these paintings on display.

Wow! Absolutely beautiful thank you all ,for this. This is something I will never see in person so it means a lot. And to have these paintings that have never been seen before is so special!

They are truly amazing. Unfortunately I won't see them again either, as they are en route to Poland. It truly was an fabulous experience!

What interesting information, showing in the portraits of James the VIIIth/3rd of England, and his descendants. The museum has gone to a lot of trouble to source these precious paintings, drawings and the items connected to the times, in those days. I realise how much I now miss, being disabled......but thankfully our Julie gets around with video camera, and "Whets" my appetite............I also have a friend who lives all the information here, and will let her know The Group Name. Thanks again Julie and her boys, the Hippie and Sir Wrecks.,,,,,,,,,,old Tich.

My 12th great grandfather, Duncan Campbell (The Black Duncan) was married to Lady, Janet Stewart of Atholl. Through their marriage I have many Stewart / Stuart ancestors. Black Duncan’s grandmother was Marjorie Stewart who was married to Colin Campbell 3rd. Lady, Marjorie’s parents were John Stewart and Elinor Sinclair. John’s parents were, sir, James Stewart (The Black Knight) and Joan de Beaufort, Queen of Scotland.

Has anyone else noticed, that all the portraits eyes follow you from side to side? The paintings themselves are spotless, and I wonder if they have been cleaned? I've an oil painting of the "Buchallie Etive Mor" which badly needs cleaned up but I don't have a clue about how to do it? What a fantastic wee museum, thankyou for showing it, as I doubt that I'll ever get there and see it myself. Keep up the venues, as I lose myself in them, and it makes my fevered imagination alive concerning redcoats and the "Jacobite Rebellions". ........old Tich.

@@ExploringScotlandsHistory But of course, Iain Ciar is my oldest friend, and the battles we fought killing all the redcoats, who had ever existed was brilliant, and a dreadful scrap of a child, made more noise than had been heard before in that poor graveyard, was punished for her disrespect of those lieing peacefully asleep as they thought the angel had arrived with the last trumpet, taking them all to Tir na Nog. (To the Place where they'd never ever grow old ) Luckily, my mobility would no longer allow me to vist Iain Ciar and Mary MacDonald of Sleat, his wife, who lie side by side together now and always! I'd love to see if Robin the youger of Dunollie, will find a sketch or oil painting off him, for mr to see if it's the same Iain Ciar, that I once played with! ....old Tich

Find something written by Peter Pininski. He has researched the Stuarts and their descendents in great detail!
