@@BCautosolutions I just took my 2015 Honda accord to the dealer for a oil change and multi point inspection and they told me about my valve cover and some oil leaking. I passed on getting it done then but will see what I can do about it. This video came at the right time
Where do you live? I have a 2015 sport with 115k and only major thing i had to change was the PCV valve and cam chain tensioner and car lived in midwest for past 9 years.
I got a 2013 accord 2.4 349,000 miles. I do all the maintenance n repair myself. I bought this car used 2 years old with 67,000 miles. Ive been changing my oil @ every 7500 miles full synthetic. It only started burning oil @300,000. I do top off the oil with about a quart around 5,000 so i can make it to 7,500. I drive around 37,000 miles a year. I change my tranny fluid every 75,000. Its the best car ive ever had. One interesting part that i had to replace was the engine coolant pipe that started leaking at the lower o ring at @ 270,000 miles. Everything on my car works fine and the car still looks good. Except for the rims which are very corroded.
If it's a CVT I would be a little nervous about 75K between fluid change. I change my CVT fluid every 30K-35K. But again, you can't argue with the longevity of 350K miles.
Oh wow awesome dude. I have 2013 accord MT as well 2.4 cyl …have you ever changed your clutch disc inside the tranny? Mine on slave cylinder and master just gave up couple days ago and getting replaced right now at 160K mileage for $800 here central cali
2013 Honda Accord Sport 112,000 miles; I keep my oil leveled and change my oil every 7,000-7,500 miles with synthetic 0W-20 and still runs great. Love the video, very informative.
I have a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L bought in 2022 with 55k miles, I’m now at 115k. Only problem I had is with the front brakes. Took me three different times to find brakes that don’t squeak. Yes I tried OEM first. Other than that change your oil every 5K after around 70K miles and please make sure you change the transmission fluid at least every 30k. Otherwise your car will drive rough and will stutter sometimes when you accelerate from a stop. These are great cars my friend has the same year with 830k on it.
Been seeing a lot of these on the road with the V6 lately. But my brother has a 2014 2.4L/CVT that I’ve been taking care of since new (now at 197,000 miles). I perform all maintenance on the car religiously and it’s holding up perfectly. I did just replace all rotors with fancy slotted/drilled units because the originals warped. & about the only other issue the car had was it needed a brand new cabin A/C fan ($40 for a new one & 10min to replace). Two things I’m truly impressed of is just how durable and smooth Honda’s CVT is. & the engine doesn’t seem to have carbon build up on the intake valves… shocking because it’s Direct Injected only. Damn thing is still running smooth as the day she was driven off the lot.
Have a 15 2.4L getting a very occasional start up rattle. While not happy, glad it's only the tensioner. not VTC. Much simpler as you say. Excellent point. 👍
@@tyty0071I ordered the tensioner, but at this point it's so occasional, not going to install now. Yeah, VTC a possibility, but I'd have to hear something after tensioner installed before I'd even think about it.
I drive mine like a fleet vehicle. Change fluids only when the maintenance minder appears. Never warm up the engine. Do all work myself and go through a set of tires annually. Purchased my '13 with 30k miles and currently at 235k and climbing. Best car I've ever owned for sure
Currently own a 2017 Accord Sport SE with 76,400 something miles, close to 76,500 and no issues. I did get it used at 53k and I’ve been changing the engine oil every 5k. For the CVT, I changed the fluid when it had 60k on it and even though it’s recommended every 30k miles I’m planning to do it when I have 80k miles on the ODO so basically every 20k to be on the safe side. But other than that, it’s been a great car, still on the original brakes and rotors, still has the OEM rims and original LED headlight assembly. I’ve been wanting to upgrade the stereo to a Ex-l or touring touch screen but idk how complicated that is
I have a 2013 EX CVT with 98,000 miles that has been trouble free. One common issue is the soft paint that is prone to swirls, chips, and fading. Eight years I coated the vehicle with a consumer grade ceramic coating along with klasse high gloss sealant two times every year. Hand wash using the two bucket method about once a month. The paint on my vehicle still looks great. Much better than the average two to three year old Accord.
I bought my 2015 accord sport brand new. My car has been so good to me. I’ve do my routine maintenance (oil change. Spark plugs. Value cover gasket. Pcv valve. Just the norm. I didn’t have to replace my water pump until 200k miles. The alternator didn’t go out until around 165k miles. Only thing I noticed is when you get up in mileage (100k) it will burn oil . I would suggest changing it when the indicator shows 50%. Other than that minor issue I haven’t had any problems with my accord.
Thanks so much. Great info. Sounds very reliable overall, I was a bit worried about the CVT when they were first put in the accords. What about the direct injection fouling the valves or issues w/ EGR?
Thanks, yeah overall they are probable my favorite gen and most reliable accord. There is carbon building on the intake side of things but no injector or valve failures. There is no egr system on this engine. The egr “effect” is achievable through the use of variable cam timing.
@@BCautosolutions -- Massive oIl consumption issues, timing chain and tensioner issues, VTC actuator issues. Some transmission issues too. Shit brakes. Axle issues. And this is the most reliable Accord?
@@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow yeah that sounds like someone’s car that’s been neglected. Oil consumption, timing chains stretched and tct failures go hand in hand with shit maintenance.
Got a 2017 Accord EX-L 2 years ago with only 15,000 miles on it, and I've been LOOKING for a video like this for forever! Got it with the dead backup camera like what you mentioned, but cause of parts shortages at the time, I had to wait a whole year to get it replaced. Since put ~5,000 miles on it and wanna keep up with the maintenance as much as possible. This video is really gonna help with that!
You better trade it for a Camry for the shit motor blows or that shitty 10k CVT transmission goes out, these new transmission don't have gears they run buy a fuckin belt, it just doesn't make sense to have a transmission with a fuckin belt in it...go check out what mechanic say about the
2017 accord sport special edition I got it at 32k miles I have had no issues with the car till 100k miles. I stay on top of oil changes but, so far I’ve had gone thru 2 batteries that was my fault due to sound system. Took it out. Head light led strip 1 went out. Serpentine belt tensioner broke..maf sensor and alternator which was the most expensive..over all great car reliability is never an issue can take it without worrying on long out of state road trips
I have owned a 9th Gen Sport CVT (2.4 liter NA) and really was hesitant about the CVT, but after 7 years with it I really like it. I have 90k plus currently and I do see oil burn, up to 1/2 quart. I just keep an eye on it and I think I am going to start changing it at 5k miles since it is burning more between changes. It's crazy that 10k was the "minder" setting on these cars. I agree an extra $100 extra a year is way better than a $5k engine repair in the long run. Overall I really like my 9th gen Sport for it's looks and MPG is pretty dang good when I get on the highway and travel. Thanks for the tips, always good to hear from someone that sees common issues. Saves us money and keeps us watching.
Yeah I was hesitant on them as well but having owned one for 2 years it was a great car and see plenty of them with 300k+. Honestly it’s my favorite generation accord. 1/2 a quart in between oil changes is relatively minimal oil consumption but still something to monitor. Appreciate the support as always
I recommend replacing the engine cover gasket instead of adding more engine oil. When engine oil and gasoline combust together, black tar and carbon accumulate on the cylinder head.
Great video! I’m currently having ticking sound coming from under my steering wheel when the car is in parked and idling. Not a constant pattern and it does it randomly from time to time. Do you happen to have an idea what this means or what causes it?
I bought a white 2013 Honda Accord EXL four cylinder from Carmax at the end of 2021 with only 40K miles. Right now I’m about to hit 75K miles and I’ll be doing an oil change, tire, rotation, and balance, brake flush, coolant, flush, CVT transmission drain & fill and replacing my PCV valve. I also want to check my engine out to make sure that it’s not burning oil.
Holding steady at 276k 15” Accord, I changed all those problems BEFORE hand to avoid issues. Runs great, taking it to 500K. Only major job done was PS replaced, all tie rods changed, upper control arm just because, sway bar links whopping $3800 between parts & labor.
Thx for those great vidz, as always!! we have a 2017 I-4 2.4 cvt 110k miles on it. We had one issue, we were told it was common at dealership, which is an oil leak from the valve cover gasket, it was replaced at 45k miles under warranty and no leaks since then.
@@BCautosolutions oh yeah i got it for my mother in 2017 and she is happy with it till now🙏. Ur vidz are blessings and made me aware of more stuff on my 19 civic, 22 crv and 22 passport. Waiting for more!! And have a wonderful day!!
Thank you for these videos brother. I have a 2015 Accord LX, and I have been on TH-cam for two hours trying to diagnose my Honda. It’s start up is a little hesitation. I changed the starter, charged the battery, and my scanner doesn’t show anything. The alternator is within spec. So I’m lost.
Possible ignition switch (electrical portion) worn out, bad grounds, voltage drop out of spec, bad battery terminals, the possibilities are endless but take a look at some of those. Wiggle everything at the battery hard and make sure nothing moves.
Cv axle recall got me bad. Had an axle snap mid way thankfully in a low speed shopping center it rusted completely through. Only thing is I live 4 hours away from the closest honda dealer so got a local mechanic to install an aftermarket one he said hes never seen a failure like that in 44 years of being a mechanic since they pretty much always fail at the joint. Good to know I can still get them both replaced with oem though!
I've been thinking about buying a Honda Accord. What year would be considered the most reliable? I do like the newer models, because of the upgraded features they offer, but I don't want to compromise when it comes to a vehicle that will last. Thanks for posting these helpful video's.👍

Hello, my 2014 runs real good. 109 000 miles. Engine light stays on after cap and another part was considered after a gadget was put on to fi nd out what needed replacing.
I really appreciate this great video. I've also experienced personally (on my 2014 Sport) and seen a lot of cases online of the ABS module failing and causing multiple warning lights (not check engine light). Easy to remove and have it rebuilt. People who are not handy are going to pay through the nose to get that fixed with a new part at the dealer. I've also had premature failure of the starter and timing chain tensioner as you mentioned. Good to know about the intake tube and water pump as I have not had those issues yet. My Accord is a 6 speed manual. Have you seen any issues with those? 213k miles at this point and still original clutch.
Just finished mine here at 170K…if you’re not getting any issues with your master or slave cylinder then I can assume ur clutch still good but when u start having issues with ur clutch like spongy feeling on the pedal or shifting problems then it’s time for that clutch to exit…i strongly recommend to ask ur mechanic to keep ur old clutch just to assure for evidence purposes
Can l use a Bosch starter on my 2015 Honda Accord V6. Evidently there is a big issue with Honda starters with the internal solenoid. Contemplating using a older more reliable Honda starter with the external solenoid or a Bosch starter.
I have seen high pressure fuel pumps goes out on 2014s, when the high pressure fuel pump goes out the check engine light will come on for low fuel pressure.
Great content! Know i know what my rattling sound may be. How long can i go without changing the tensioner before big issues pop up? Also Im not sure about others, but my ABS module went out around or before 150k miles. Not too happy about that one
2014 Honda Accord Lx 2.4L 154,547 miles, high pitch ringing noise in the cabin only on random mornings, usually persists until I am in my work’s parking lot, happens in accessory mode and keyed over. The high pitch ringing sounds like it’s coming from the shifter but I’m not sure
I have a '15 Accord Sport. Only issue I've had is the starter failed at 48K miles which was disappointing. Other than that it's been a great car. What is your opinion on changing the CVT fluid at around 30-35K miles? I've been doing that as a precaution because it seems CVT's don't have the best reputation. Keep up the great videos!
My starter failed around 45k miles as well. I changed the CVT around 25k miles and it looks brand new! very clean oil. Then I change it after another 40k miles, it has some darkness. It concerns me. So, I'd say please change it within the Honda recommendations. They're not joking about it.
I have a 17 Accord Hybrid 85k miles with the newer 2 motor system. I have a driveline shudder around 45 and 52 mph, whenever the power train is trying to switch over from charging to full EV mode. Do you see a lot of these hybrids coming in with the issue? My car was running perfect til one day it started doing it and hasn’t really gone away. I’m running stock tire size, all fluid levels good and was serviced about a month prior. Only thing I haven’t checked was 12V battery. Dealer tech looked at it and found nothing wrong with the car other than the tires being a little old. I put brand new ones on and the issue never went away. I love the car but the shudder really gets on my nerves as I’m jerked around in the seat lol
2015 LX Flex pipe at around 100k Cold start rattle first noticed at around 75k VC gasket at 150k Should the cvt filter and pickup be changed? I've just been changing the fluid.
Question.😊 If someone is looking at a Honda to buy....there are a lot selling for really good priced right now, which ones in your opinion are some of the nest to get? Which models and what years are the best....with the least problems?🤔
I have 16 accord sport with 103k on the clock. I bought it new. I did buy 8 year warrantee basically covered bumber to bumber till 2026 or 150k miles. I already changed one headlight because of dead led strip. I had some engine oil consumption at 80k I’ve always changed oil at 15%. Honda rebuild the engine under warrantee. Basically new pistons ring valve cover. I’ve been experiencing occasional delayed starting. This is issue happens randomly. Sometimes it starts right the way especially on cold start start but on occasion it slow at stating. I’m hearing fuel pumps and starters are an issue on these models?
@@BCautosolutionsanother new issue that I just learned about is paint failing prematurely. Paints chipping where rear class and roof connect also for me in the trunk well and inside where the fender bolts in show pain peeling down to the primer…
What is your idea on cvt transmission fluid change honda accord sport 2013? Can we use the synthetic valvoline cvt fluid? Or does it need to be the oem honda cvt.
The tensioner and post filter air intake problems happened to me. At least it gave me an opportunity to get a really pretty blue silicone intake from HPS.
My wife has a 2014 2.4 earthdreams LX with 198,000 miles on it. She got it it in 2018 and I’ve made sure the oil changes were either being done at a shop or by myself regularly within the 3-5k mile window. It recently just started to show a cylinder 3 misfire and it’s stayed on even after replacing all the spark plugs, coil packs, and cylinder 2 and 3 injectors. The traction control light and power steering light just recently came on as well but no ABS light and we just had the VSA module replaced a few months ago at the dealership. Any idea what could still be causing the misfire? It idles rough and goes into limp mode so theres definitely a misfire of some type. I’ve also checked compression and got 180PSI in all cylinders.
My first suspicion would be valve clearances are out of whack. I would probably look there next. I would be able to tell by looking at map value data list fully warmed up and no loads. Map should read under .90v and steady. If it’s not, chances are your valves are too tight. It’s also good common practice to relearn crank pattern after repairing a misfire as ecus sometimes can learn bad habits. Good luck.
Great video, thanks. I have a 2016 Accord EX. I have what seems to be an unusual problem. When I get in my car, my driver seat reclines all the way back to a horizontal position. I have to adjust it back up. My settings are set for upright, but it seems to always fall back. Any ideas?
Yes, it seems to be a problem with the memory module. Not sure how to reset it, but look into that. Or try resetting the seat positions and see if that helps in regard.
@hondamobilemachine Great video, very informative. I would appreciate some help. I have a rough / low idle with some throttle hesitation situation with my 2013 2.4L sport 4D (more pronounced with cold weather). There are no codes or any misfires and the rough / low idle only happens at stop light with the car in drive. I’ve changed the plugs and the upstream O2. I cleaned the throttle body, maf sensor, and pvc valve. Does this sound like a vacuum leak? Could it be a bad coil? I would appreciate your feedback.
I first drove the car for about 600 miles hoping the throttle would relearn. The car drove awful but got better by the end of the road trip. After that, I used a vice grip and clamped both the positive and negative battery cable together for 10 min with all accessories off. Then I reconnected and let the engine idle util the fan cycled twice. Read online that that would reset the TP?? FYI I did a valve cleaning and through codes because I did it through the intake after the maf sensor (I used the brake vacuum after I through those codes which cleared soon after). Do you think the throttle body is bad? Thank you for your time.
It Idles at 750 when the engine gets rough. The engine use to idle around 800ish. Also, if I add any load (headlights, ac, defrost) the idle goes back to normal or around 800.@@BCautosolutions

Do you know about a issue with the 9th gen accord having engine vibrations while in “D” during a stop. For example being stopped at a red light in gear and the rpm’s drop causing a vibration felt.
Interesting! I didn’t know this happened to the Accords also. I have the same thing with my CR-V and this was the response from Honda: th-cam.com/video/vEJ45wX9ycI/w-d-xo.html (essentially it’s a feature of the car). It’s annoying and I’ve read it has to do with the idle at around 625-650 rpm once the engine is at operating temperature. The vibration is caused from what I believe are the motor mounts and direct injection. Owners can flick on the lights, turn on the ac/heat or move the steering wheel. I generally just turn up the AC to get some drag on the engine which helps. People also idle in neutral but that’s not a good idea.
@@scarboroughnorthfoodie this actually turned out to be a service bulletin which we replaced: Radiator stays Head rests Trans mount Pcm update That’s was everything if I recall correctly (it’s been a while lol) but yes adding a load to change the idle rpm target helps. ✅

We have a 2014 Accord sport we’ve had since brand new and it’s been pretty reliable. It currently has 124k miles on it and get oil changes every 5k miles and have only ever gotten it serviced at the Honda dealer. Our transmission just went out on ours last night and luckily it was by our neighborhood so we just barely made it home but not up the driveway 😂 The car has needed timing belt, the pistons replaced due to our old dealer being sketchy 🤨 and the starter at 50k miles. We are currently not knowing whether to pay the $7k Honda quoted us for a new transmission or trade the car in and get a new car 🙃 we’ve had it for almost ten years now and it’s been paid off for 4 so we are in a pridicament
That’s the name in the game. 7k or payments for the next 5-6 years. As it stands interest rates are pretty high so just weigh all your options and see what’s best for you.

Just ran into your video, have a 2015 sport with the 2.4 earthdream, noticed you didn't say anything about the GDI fuel system or carbon build up on the intake valves. Just wondering what is your thoughts controlling that, chemical or blasting?
I’ve noticed the same thing. I just rolled over 130,000 miles. Car runs amazing, still average 36 mpg. As far as I can tell, no performance drop at all from when I bought it with 30,000 miles. I don’t recommend any spray cleaners. What happens is, carbon (think chunky carbon) can possibly make its way into the rings and cause it to stick. I’ve decided I’m either going to wait until I have an issue. (It either affects the engine or it doesn’t, no in between with dirty valves. Or when I have time, pull the intake off and manually clean just for fun. Do oil changes every 5,000 miles and don short trip the vehicle. Should not have any issues.

Do you know of any issues in a 2016 Honda Accord Sport that causes the A/C not to turn on at times or to have a low output of air even though it's on high? Let me clarify about the A/C not turning on. The power is on but no air is blowing. After about 5-10 minutes (it can sometimes be less or more) while driving, the air/blower will finally start blowing air through the vents. I'm thinking it could be the blower motor relay, the blower motor resistor, or the blower motor itself. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm planning on changing the engine cover gasket and the spark plugs (still original). I don't have any play in the steering while driving at hwy, but definetely some vibs on the steering wheel and under the floorboard. Could it be the bushings from the LCA? What do you think? Thanks.

I got a 2017 accord sport and recently its been misfiring when cold quite aggressively around 2-3.2 thousand rpms and if I continue to drive while misfiring I get a check engine light and the car goes into limp mode. check engine light showed misfire on third cycinder so my dealership replaced the third ignition coil and all 4 spark plugs but the problem persisted. they then used a chemical solution to clean carbon buildup from the pistons and it made it a bit better but still got a check engine light a few days after and the car went into limp mode. im down a 1000 dollars right now on this problem and still have no idea what it is. would appreciate any advice. the misfires are most aggressive when the car is cold but I do still get slight hesitations when the car is warmed up as well.

I have a 2015 Sport MT with 90K miles. I was getting the rattle on cold starts and also noticed a “ticking” noise coming from the left side while driving. Recently change the TC tensioner and fixed the cold start rattle, but the ticking sound is still there. Strangely, the sound doesn’t occur until I’m at 2000-2100 rpm and immediately stops when I down shift. Any ideas? Maybe the valves need to be adjusted?
I have a 17 sport, I feel like at an ideal the car shakes too much. It doesn’t hesitate when accelerating or anything like that I just feel while sitting at a stoplight it shakes too much and when the AC kicks on it bogs down. I have did the carbon cleaner in the throttle body, mass air flow, air filter. Any suggests ? I did see with the electronic throttle body a lot of people say the problem comes from there to replace that but I have not yet.
@Hondamobilemechanic I had the mounts replaced in the past. When I did the throttle body I just cleaned it. I didn't unplug any electrical. When I cleaned it the first time it seemed to fix the issue but slowly the problem came back. I cleaned it again but didn't fix the issue.
@Hondamobilemechanic OEM replaced at the dealership. I'm thinking of doing the throttle body and se what happens. My main concern is when the AC kicks on it shakes more and drops the RPM. It immediately corrects itself but it's just annoying.

I have a 2013 EX CVT with 98,000 miles that has been trouble free. One common issue is the soft paint that is prone to swirls, chips, and fading.

Did you relearn the throttle body position after cleaning it? Usually a vacuum leak would cause a high idle.
CVT oil leak after 6 month of purchase. Dealer Replaced the CVT
At 25k miles. Another oil leak. Dealer replaced the engine short block.
At 45k, the Battery died😂
At 60k miles, the starter died. And I replaced it with refurbished one. Yes. I did it myself.
I notice it's being burning one qty of oil between 5k miles. No plan for fixing it.

I do it myself. Oil change every 5k miles. Since new.
CVT drain and refill every 30k miles

One question, how often have you've seen L15's blowing? And by blowing i don't mean head gaskets i mean literal hole in the block.
Personally haven’t seen any
Do you know about a issue with the 9th gen accord having engine vibrations while in “D” during a stop.
I would have your throttle body cleaned and have the values relearned. 👍🏻

Hey man! Thanks for the content and knowledge like always! Gonna attempt brake job all the way around on our 2006 Accord EX Sedan 4 cylinder this weekend. Also, any suggestions on lubing the slide pins or applying lube to the outside of the break pads on the caliper contact side?…this is literally my first time doing this lol, thank you for all the info good sir!
I would personally resurface the rotors but you don’t have to. Slide pins use silicone plaste and for the pads they should some with grease if not use molycote

Either will work. Blasting can turn ugly if not done correctly.

I don't have any play in the steering while driving at hwy, but definetely some vibs on the steering wheel and under the floorboard. Could it be the bushings from the LCA? What do you think? Thanks.
Vibrations are usually from axles and/or tires/wheels. That’s where I’d look.
