- The 2017 Accord comes in the fuel-thrifty hybrid, regular four-cylinder and Sport-themed V-6 trim. We put the four-cylinder and V-6 to the test in a head-to-head comparison to see if the V-6’s fun gains are worth the model’s price premium.

I love my V6 for many reasons already stated above. What I really love about my Accord is how roomy the car is for passengers and gear. Took four golfers and four golf bags and all of us fit comfortably inside the car on a 3 hour drive and all of my passengers were impressed how smooth and powerful the car drove. And with all of the bells and whistles this car has, it makes for an enjoyable ride.
Did you know that the V6 Accord has a 6-Speed Automatic transmission and all the four cylinders have a CVT Transmission?
My 2010 Accord 4 Cylinder has 232K miles on her and she has taken a BEATING. Engine and transmission still run like clockwork, while idling you can barely hear the engine running. 190 Horsepower is plenty of power for the everyday driver. I love my Honda.
I have the same year of Accord. How is yours still running? I have 460,000 kms and I only had to change both rear calipers and the front wheel bearing twice. It still runs great and looks great
I got the '16 EX-L V6 new, and love it. Did a 1200 mile road trip within a few weeks, and got 36mpg (indicated on the display, so probably a bit optimistic) on the freeways. Never at a loss for power when needing to pass slow semi trucks on 2 lane highways or needing to get up to speed to merge on freeways. 66k miles now, and super reliable. Still love the sound when I have to get on it. The 4 cylinder is practical and almost nobody *needs* a V6 in a mid-size sedan, but for me, it was well worth it.
Last year for the V6.. Better get it while you can.
Really??? More info please!!
Please tell more lol... i didn't know that.
Not true. The V6 stays for the foreseeable future, just like the Camry's V6. It sells well enough not to replace it.
Don Paul Incorrect (kind of) The accord will ditch the 6 cylinder and offer turbo 4 cylinder engines. I believe the v6 will continue to be available on the van, suv, truck etc.
That is sad news if true. Incredibly fast for its class, mellifluous sound, and frugal !
I'm so blown away by the V6, I got it because it was the only black Accord the dealer had left, and man did I get lucky, can't believe how fast it is and how well it drives, really love it!
the artist how’s the gas? Does it eat a lot of gas when you drive in city or highway? Please let me know
Thanks
My GF drives the 4-cylinder and we compared notes, it feels like I get the same MPG, but that can't be, I think it's 21 city, 33 hwy, I've driven hers off and on for a couple years and can't tell the MPG difference.
How long did it last you? Still have it?? Is it reliable???
Please keep it forever, it's a gem! last v6 on Accord
@@stonecold293851the honda v6 is a very reliable engine.
Just got a 2017 Honda Acoord V6. And when I tell u she glides bruh...I am in love‼️‼️‼️
I just got one too! Sweet cars.
I have the 2016 Honda Accord Sport with the 4Cy. Black paint 19 inch wheels. I absolutely love this car and I’ve owned Chevys my whole life. Good fuel economy, low maintenance cost, clean luxury look.
He's right; the Touring is worth the indulgence. I traded up from a 2014 Touring to a 2017 yesterday and it feels like a different car; with the additional suspension and power steering work, it's much more refined. Engine feels smoother too.
If I may defend the honor of the I4 CVT a bit: I went to the dealership expecting to get the V6, and I wound up in the 4. Here's why:
-Smoothness. I don't know where you're all getting the notion that the 6 is smoother. It's the opposite. The CVT wafts effortlessly while the 6's traditional cog-swapper gets kind of lurchy in city driving. Also, Honda's CVT is a masterpiece compared to most. Very well behaved.
-Fuel economy. Here's the thing about the economy numbers they cite. The city MPG is always going to be optimistic. I drive in SF a lot and you wind up crawling most of the time. Big engines devour their gas tanks in these situations.
-Enough power. This is a bit unique to me, but where I live and work, I'm mostly going slowly despite my efforts. Most of the drivers around me are old or tourists, so I'm usually trapped behind them. Having 185 horses on tap is more than enough. I'd be strangling the poor V6 to death out here. Incidentally, 9+ seconds for 0-60 is hogwash. It'll do it in the mid 7s. Don't know where they got that ridiculous number.
-Cost. I wasn't super cost-sensitive when I got into this, and I bought at the end of the '16 model year so I was seeing prices 4k below sticker. Even still, the V6 cost as much as a nice CPO BMW 3-series. At that price point, you're nudging into a completely different world of car buying.
This is not to suggest that the V6 is bad. During my test drive I aimed it onto the freeway, mashed the pedal, and was very impressed. The damn thing felt like being in a cavalry charge. But I had to be honest with myself. Did I want to take on the added cost and rough shifting in exchange for sweetening that tiny percentage of my motoring existence? I personally decided not to. And the CVT model makes MOST of my driving time better. But that's a call you will all have to make for yourselves.

Comparing an Accord with a BMW is really a moot point.
People purchase an Accord for reliability before sportiness. People typically own Accords a lot longer than BMWs.
People purchase a BMW for sportiness before reliability. BMWs are notoriously expensive to maintain after a few years.
So, would I rather spend an equal amount on an V6 Accord or BMW? Accord. I want to own a vehicle for a long time and enjoy lower cost of ownership.
MOST people lease BMWs, due to their notorious cost after a few years. So they are perpetually involved in leasing new vehicles.
So again, it's just not an equal comparison.
I totally agree with your post. The CVT shifts a lot smoother then the standard V6 transmission. When you live in a big with boats loads traffic the ivtec 4 banger is the way to go. Plus that 6 would set me back another 5 grand to my total bringing my total to around maybe 36-37,000.
you are funny if you think your 4 cylinder or even compare with my 6 cylinder touring model I have smoked so many Honda Accord Sport models with my touring v6 most of the time I think they're running backwards
Had my V6 model for nearly 10 years now/140k so I can give some facts: overall lifetime mpg is 31. That is a mix of city/highway, although I can tell you that highway stretches w/o traffic will get you into the mid 30s, even up to 40mpg due to the VCM. Despite not having any indicator lights for the VCM, you learn where it engages and what to do or what not to do to get it kicked out of VCM. Without VCM, highway mpg is just meh so you really need to get it in that mode to benefit from the fuel savings. Acceleration is powerful but it is definitely more high-strung than a typical I4 turbo these days, so off the line it won't feel that fast, but at 60+ full throttle it will be a blast as any other low 14 second quarter mile car. Adding a K-tuner, MDX spacer, made the engine dynamics improve dramatically for everyday driving. 1/4 mile run is 14.2 at high elevation; no doubt I could get at least 13.9 at sea level. Best part through is just how smooth the engine is. It's refined like a luxury ride. No thrashing, boat engine sounds, or weirdness like that.
Suspension, you really need to add the progress sway bar to keep the car flat to which then you have zero body roll and no reduction in ride comfort. I also threw lightweight wheels which further helped off the line acceleration and made the car more nimble. Overall, this is honestly the best car I've ever owned. Absolutely zero mechanical issues.
I get 37 mpg highway with my 16 Accord EXL V6 navi Honda sense sedan. 2 other thing some buyers may want to consider when comparing the 4 cylinder versus V6 Accord is 4 cylinder engines have a timing chain while the V6 engines have a timing belt that requires the belts to be changed along with the water pump at 100,000 miles which cost around $700.00. There are other minor differences the V6 models have an acoustic windshields and side front glass, gas struts for the hood instead of a prop rod like the 4's.
love my V6, never lost at the light
TheRoyalking761 v6 crew checking in!!! Slight adjustments made running 18s MSW OZ on my 2015 with 235 /45 /18 pilot super sport tires and it pulls way harder then I thought
Never lost? I guess you never went against a fast car and were only racing civics.
Never went against a fast car? ha ha you must have a 4 cylinder of some sort. Not saying the V6 Accord is a race car, but its definitely no slouch. Especially with the manual.
Alpha_717 I never had a 4 cylinder car, but a v6 accord really isn't that fast.

I have the 2015 Accord V6 EX-L Coupe. I got the paddle shifted automatic because of a bum left leg. But, the V6 and the automatic are tremendous, so I do not miss the six speed manual. I actually think the 0-60 time is greater than advertised. When I launch the car in the regular auto drive mode, the car blisters to 60 in under 6 seconds. That is pull, baby. Two hundred and seventy eight bhp, stock. Not humongous, but enough to satisfy.
On the freeway, the engine is turbine smooth and 60 to over 100 mph comes very, very quickly. Yes, the four cylinder is adequate. I know, because my wife has one. But, it is nothing like the v6. It is really worth getting the v6 if you love driving and desire some modicum of power. More than adequate is the way to go!
I hate my 4 cylinder..Almost cried when a toyota passed me on the highway while i was flooring it lol
And let me guess it was a Sienna minivan with the little kid sticking his middle finger at you from the rear window after you were smoked?
oldtwins na nah lol it was a camry.. Not sure if it was a v6 or not tho.. Could have been a 4 cylinder too, but I have an old seventh gen accord...
James Myers I feel your pain. had to give up my 2003 accord last month because the converter went up and repairs would have costed more than the car's $$ value. was sad because it had been such a great, reliable car. now I'm in the market for a 2016 accord and I'll have a tough time going with the 4 cylinder because mine was painfully slow getting on the highway. had grannies passing me regularly lol. I don't do much city driving at all, so for me the v6 is a good option especially since I want the extra power and don't do a lot of stop and go traffic. just gotta keep an eye out for a good deal on a 2016 EXL V6 because the 2016 touring is still too pricey.
Austin Sandkuhler an aftermarket catalytic converter costs about 300 dollars. You must of been quoted for an oem converter which is about 1k.
James Myers Best Comment Ever! LOL
GET THE TOURING V6 the accord you can get !
I’m way late on this but this might help someone buying a used car- I have both and you are spot on - get the V6.
V6 for the win, gas is not an issue, the 2018 and later accords are 1mpg better lmao with the Turbo Charger, same gas
@@NorthernLaw_ That depends I drive city mainly and was getting 17mpg on my Honda Accord sport v6 lol..Now highway I was getting around 29-30mph.
@@coolstory6193i average 45 mpg driving normally in my v4, eco mode can get it higher. Went on a 3 hour trip and got 60mpg halfway there in eco, only filled up twice the whole week i was traveling, love this car
I opted for the V-6 in the EX-L trim, with an extra pedal. It is comfortable and FUN to drive- especially with the manual trans!!! The Honda V-6 engine has an incredibly broad torque curve- worth the extra cost IMO.
I had to buy a Sedan. For me it was EX w/ 6 speed or V6 EXL automatic. It was a tough call but I went V6. The V6 with a manual must be so awesome.
@@beb1527 Indeed, it is! No real way to describe it. A lot of people are surprised when they see the gearshift lever & third pedal with their own eyes or when it comes up in conversation.
Go for the V6, I have had it for 1 year now and it is efficient yet powerful for highway driving, especially out of state. Gas mileage difference is small. Plus on touring V6 get all kinds of goodies, like heated seats and big wheels and many other things. I have a new V8 mustang and F80 M3, trust me, this V6 is a dependable, no nonsense daily steed.
I'm curious to know what you're doing with an Accord, if you already own a Mustang V8 and F80 M3.
For winter driving, or hauling family around? Just a curious question.
the touring does definitely have a lot of toys to it that I love it's almost like driving a very expensive luxury vehicle very fun to drive
Jason99942 who knows man. I know plenty of people with 2013 Audi s6, 2017 zL1, new Lexus F sports, etc. sitting in their driveway. Yet they drive 2008 Titans and 2004 Jettas daily 😒... Who knows.
The power is good in the v6 but The dependability is not that good, I had a 2009 Honda Accord with 110,000miles on it and the engine had to be rebuilt 4 times because of cylinder deactivation and Honda would not pay for another rebuild so I would not recommend buying one if you put a lot of miles on your car.
I'm a V6 type of guy. And I'd be more so at those price points.
That Honda V6 is a great engine !! Hope it survives into 2018
Randy Jackson lol
Aaaaaaaaand, it didn't.
This didn’t age well 😂😂😂
I was hoping it would!
I'm from the future, it didn't make it .
the Honda manual trans are so smooth you barely notice your shifting. smooth like butter
i4 = Better fuel economy, more cheaper, higher resale, and less maintenance cost (i.e less spark plugs needed)
v6 = More power, 6 speed auto, more responsive/fun to drive.
What is a v4? lol...Also i wouldn't necessarily give points to a 4cyl just because it needs less spark plugs...
Less spark plugs = less $ on maintenance and in more in your pocket.
Something as small as a $5-$50 savings on a part that you change every 80k miles isn't enough to say one is cheaper on maintenance than the other, but that's just...my opinion man.
WEStICE013 I guess lol but I always get from people that v6 costs more to maintain and that could be for all sorts of reasons.
Yeah, probably depends on the engine specifically. Was mostly poking fun at the V4 comment. Don't see many of those :P
300,000 miles later, I'm glad I got the last V6 Accord
You should have mentioned the sport with manual!
Big difference is the lower end 4cyl. I got a sport in black. Only 25k, looks the part. Sure it doesn't have all the luxury.. or not near the power. But 25k to 35k is a big difference! I wish you could get the v6 engine in lower trims for a better balance in terms of cost and fun.
geedunk13 just do an engine swap
geedunk13+ you got it for 25k out the door?
2017 accord sport.. mine was $25,300... $28,400 i think after everything else... 60 months at 439 a month.. is that a good deal???
IamLEGENDkb24 how long ago did u purchase? I got mine for 25,500 otd.
in February.. is it location? bought mine out of the central valley.. California.. mileage was at 16 and the door has edge guards and tinted windows..
Everyone says to get the V6, not because it's faster and cost more, but it has the traditional 6 speed automatic transmission, compared to the CVT in the 4-cylinder, which not everyone likes.
Smoother engine on the V6. Makes less noise and no buzzy nature to it. Premium feel to the car.
OR...you get the Accord Sport with 6 speed, more hp than the CVT and world of difference in driving experience.
The CVT on the v4 is good enough. That transmission switches like butter. Plus spark plugs are a lot easier to change 👍
Louis Lee The CVT doesn't have a v4... It's just a 4 cylinder. The CVT doesn't have traditional gears, which is why it "switches" like "butter."
Yujin J I meant inline 4. Yes, I know CVT transmission doesn't have traditional gears. It runs with metal belts which is why it's super smooth.
Went with a 2017 4 cylinder, because they have timing chain and the v6 has timing belts. The 4 cylinder 2.4L VTech is impressive. Enough power to pass definitely.
That is the reason why I bought the 2,4!Timing chain!!!
the v6 also has a timing chain.
@@thinkblue8089 No, it has timing belt which needs to be changed every 100k miles
@@uhhTabby wow. I really thought I had a timing chain on my 2017 v6. I think the dealership told me that. I guess I have to change it at 100k miles. thanks.
This 9.5 gen Honda Accord is my dream car right now. If I were to get one, I would choose the LX or the EX. I’m not a very fast driver but love the Accord brand a lot.
Right now, I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX Sedan that I bought as my first car. So far, I’ve only had older high milage cars. But I’m saving up for a 2016-17 Honda Accord because I really want to own a newer car and love the Honda Accords!
75K on my 2014 EX-L V6 absolutely love my car. The 9th gen is the best Accord hands down! From the design, to the interior quality, and packaging. I was at the dealer for an oil change and I was looking at the 2023 Honda has missed the mark for me. They have cheapened up the interior so much from he fixed head restraints in the rear to the hard-touch plastic on the rear door panels. Even the seat-backs look cheap and only a passenger map pocket. Needless to say I am glad Honda's last a long time because I will be driving mine for a long time.
220k on my 2014 exl i4, even though it's a 4 it's bullet proof. Actually ran over a dead bear in the dark in Va and took it to the shop and all it did was knock the pins out of the bottom plastic and leave black hair. I agree about the 2023 doesn't seem to be built as well. Just bought a used 2017 exl with the I4 and lets see how long it lasts... sold my '14 cheap to my daughter curious to see how long it goes... Never had any problem with acceleration. If the wife and I want to drive like that we just take out the '95 Z28. Both cars the 4 and the 6 are great cars but I like the 4 for the gas mileage I get 41 mpg regularly.
I wish they offered the v6 with a manual in the sedan 😭
They do! But only in Coupes and EXL Trim :-/
+Techdude6693 exactly, they don't. I want the sedan, screw the coupe

I bought myself a 2016 accord touring 3months ago and loveee it! it accelerates quickly, quiet inside while crusing, good driving dynamics and i also got 35MPG on the highway constantly. over 400miles per tank of fuel.
only thing i wish it had was
• heated steering wheel
• cooled seats
• front camera
• better audio system
Excellent review !
I have a EXLV6 and it’s amazing!
Most underrated mid size sedan when equipped with the V6.
Also 35-37 MPG on long distance drives from south Florida to
South Jersey (1200 miles apx)!
I test drove the hybrid touring model and I loved it. That’s the one I’d get personally.
Have to go with the V6 for the price difference. Better transmission (if you don't want an I4 6MT Sedan or a v6 6MT Coupe.) Fuel economy difference is minimal, and if you do a lot of highway driving the V6 will probably close in on the I4 even more.
Also never realized the States doesn't get an I4 Touring. In addition to the EX-L I4, we get a Touring I4 which means you get the nicer wheels and headlights. Up until 2016 you could get an I4 Touring with a 6 speed manual which is an awesome combo with the full leather interior.
I'm so happy I got a V6 Touring

Well do you wanna be able to smoke 94-2004 mustangs at the stop lights or just get great gas mileage??
The vast majority of buyers in this segment will be satisfied with the 4 cylinder. If you do want a V6 get them while you can because rumor has it that the next generation accord will not offer a V6 anymore.
The V6 is definitely worth the extra cost of gas. Typically, you go for Acura for a luxury Honda. The Accord Touring though, rides like a luxury car.
I have a 2016 Accord Sport which I really do love. I have contemplated trading it in next year for the Touring. I miss a lot of the fun features keyless entry, remote start, sunroof, decent stereo, V6 and the CVT in the Sport... power just seems so unpredictable. For the price there are sacrifices.
I own a 2009 Accord; I4, 5-speed manual..This is the best car I've ever owned. I still enjoy driving it. My next car will be another Accord (I4 turbo, 6-speed).
I4 or V6. What's important to you? Do you need a V6? Why? For what? How much is a quicker 0-60 worth? Do you NEED to burn up more gas (and money) in a V6 during cruise?
If money is no object, get the V6.
Test drove both. Verdict: Get the V6. It's a different car for only $3k more. It's not about the acceleration, but rather about the smoothness of the driving and riding experience, which is important in this type of cars. If I were to get a 4 cylinder Accord, I might as well get a better Civic for the same money.
id get the v6 6 speed manual coupe with a 13.7 1/4 mile and 5.4 0-60.. life too short to be slow
paul walker agrees...
Damn...
4bryan4 unless you have video proof and a timeslip, I'm calling bullsht
tommieboi707 do your own research. i have plenty of vids aswell.
4bryan4 don't have to do research. you did it for me. 14 second runs in your accord.
I owned a 2017 accord sport and a 2020 civic sport each with a 2.4 l cvt engine snd 2.0 cvt engine. Having owned both I am enjoying my v6 tlx a spec much more. Both of my previous vehicles were very eye catching but not fun to drive. I also worried about the cvt eventually going since that is a $7000+ repair here. If I could go back in time I would’ve gone with touring with the j series v6 same as my current Acura. Spend the extra money, don’t have any regrets. The 4 cylinders also don’t come with sunroofs so if that’s important to you, look to a higher trim.
All CVT are important to change oil every 30 to 40 thousand miles and will be working good for long unfortunately most of people don't know oh don't care about.
Nissan CVT are delicate compared to Honda Toyota Subaru
I drive a 2017 manual Accord Sport Special Edition 4 cylinders and my friend drives a 2013 manual Accord Coupe V6. Whenever he can drive mine, he's always amazed. The weight of the V6 engine plays a lot in the maneuverability of the vehicle. So this comparison of CVT 4 cylinders and automatic V6 isn't that much relevant. Get the clutches!
I didn't get neither of those, I got the sport instead canadian model.
@David .O It drives great no complaints, lots of power too.
Im sorry
Informative and practical. KEEP videos like this coming.
get the 6! I bought a 16 a white EXL coupe v6 and I test drove a 4 to see the difference and was sold on the V6.
I got 44k miles on my 2017 V6. How about you?
Regular octane gas with a high 10.5 to 1 compression ratio sounds a little scary but Honda knows what they’re doing
Get the 6-cylinder. Lots of power with excellent mileage - easy choice. The dealer loaned a 4-cylinder for a few days and it got WORSE mile than my 6-cylinder Accord.
The 4 cylinder has a timing chain that lasts the life of the engine while the V6 has a timing belt that needs to be changed at 100,000 miles. That's a $500 - $1,000 maintenance cost.
So you end up paying on average $5,500 more for the V6 model, you'll pay more for gas as it gets lower mpg, and you'll pay more for maintenance. In my opinion, it's not worth it.
markanders250 That's exactly why I bought the 2.4L!!
markanders250 My 2016 Honda Accord sport 2.4L was 25,000 OTD vs 32,000 plus for the V-6 and the timing belt cost it was a smart choice!
What about the oil seals will the last the life of the engine or is the risk of them leaking all over the timing chain?
I timed a v-6 Accord on here @ 5.2 STOCK.
I have the V6 and I like it. The issue is when you hit the 105K service. Honda request service exceeding $2300. The V6 has a timing belt that needs replacing compared to the timing chain of the V4. Something I wish I knew prior to choosing.
i get > 30 mph with a 2017 V-6 , it is wonderful to drive ,and you can get manual
Canadian Sport with 6sp manual is the best trim of all offering the best value of all Honda. Almost as fast as my previous 2014 Si but a lot better (and better looking) all around. 0-60 in less than 7 seconds, super smooth and fun manual transmission, Apple Car play (and Android Auto), beautiful wheels, dual exhaust, etc. This car is cheaper than a Civic touring but IMO better in every aspects if you are a grown up ;-)
Currently have a 09 EX-L v6. The 5 speed trans kinda suffers when I'm going over 120. Think I'll upgrade to the 9th gen version as long as it's cheap. I also heard they fixed the VCM issues with the 9th gen.
You answered all the questions i had. Im glad you made the video and it was really helpful
The hell with the fuel economy. Money will come and go. Just get the V6 and have fun!
I own a Honda V6 Accord Ex L sedan, bought new. It is terrific.
V6 or sport?
J series vtec engines are amazing 👌
Blind Spot Monitoring STILL not available in the Accord- that needs to change. Only the Pilot upper trim levels have it from what I understand.
Lanewatch far superior. Would take that anyday.
oldtwins what about DRIVER'S side blind spot??
My 2017 EX accord coupe had a camera on the passenger mirror triggered by signaling a right turn... nice for seeing the blind spot on passenger side...
V6 is faster, smoother, better performance, last longer and more fun and enjoyment 😊
17 second quarter mile? That CVT must be awful. Why didn't you test a 6MT?
I'd say get the V6 primary because it has a traditional automatic rather than those crappy CVTs.
Matthew Morgan most ppl get 4 cylinder Honda anyways lol
Matthew Morgan Honda CVT is not Nissan
The choice is a no-brainer. I wouldn't even consider the 4 cylinder. Honda makes great V6 engines and this one is particularly economical. The highway mpg figure is 33. Check out the Honda forums online and you'll see that most real world owners meet or exceed that on the road. Rumor has it that Honda is going to drop the V6 option on the newly redesigned '18 Accord due out in late '17. I really hope they don't. I will not own a 4 cylinder in this size car, even if it's got a turbo.
VCM is what makes the V6 trim very fuel efficient on the highway. I get consistent higher 30's on pure highway drives. However, city driving is where the V6 takes a nosedive, so the higher mpg highway makes up for the loss in city and you get an overall that isn't too much less than the I4.
Andy Jacobs best mileage for my v6 accord was 43mpg on a 580 mile roadtrip. with the air on i get a solid 40 mpg.
Andy Jacobs sadly they dropped the V-6, but Toyota didn't. Oh and you can get the new '18 Camry with over 300 horses.
Well, I had to eat my own words. I vowed that I would never buy another 4 cylinder car. I test drove a '19 Accord Touring 2.0T and was very impressed. I still resisted for a while but ended up buying a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T last year. I must admit that I have fallen hard for this car. It is so awesome and I never feel like it lacks for power. It's actually quicker than my '16 Acura TLX Advance V6 was. I do miss the sound of that growling V6 under throttle but I can't praise my Accord 2.0T enough. It simply does almost everything exceptionally well. I wanted to buy the '21 Acura TLX 2.0T but it was roughly 500 lbs heavier than the Accord and the extra 20 hp did not offset that huge weight difference in terms of performance. Yes, I gave up some creature comforts and the incredible sound system in the TLX but I gained better performance and substantially more interior room. I have no regrets buying the Accord 2.0T. Having said that, I will always hold dear Honda's venerable V6 engines. I owned several vehicles with various versions of that tried and true V6.
Bought a 2014 Accord V6 EX-L, and couldn't be any happier. Glad I got the V6, the V4's acceleration is just painfully slow. On Highway I get 35mpg at 65-70mph because of the Variable Cylinder Management that turns off half of the cylinders. In the city though, MPG can drop pretty quickly to around 19-22mpg. All the accord's leather trim options features vinyl coated leather seats, meaning it's real leather coated with vinyl to extend it's durability. The seat feels like fake leather and that's one thing I'm not too happy about. The 0-60 is definitely faster than posted in video close to 6 sec instead of 7.
In fairness, all the midsize cars in this segment have leather quality that is similar. i.e. disappointing but made that way to ensure durability. You really have to step up to the company's luxury brands to get the higher quality stuff, whether it's Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura.
Pretty sure its an Inline 4 Cylinder... not a V4 lmaoooo
The sticker on the EX-L V6 with Honda Sensing including navigation as opposed to the Touring edition is a little over 33k, not 35k. Still loaded up...giving up little to the Touring edition. I get about 27 mpg on mine in mixed driving, and if I drive conservatively with cruise at about 60 in non mountainous terrain, I've gotten as much as 39 mpg. Moreover, Car & Driver clocked the EX-L V6 0-60 at 5.8 sec, which is a long way from 6.9. Even Consumer Reports beat that 6.9 sec.
I have a manual transmission. I'd rather have a v6 but a manual transmission is more important. It brings the acceleration gap much closer too. I think a sport would have been a better comparison in terms of ride and handling.
is the Honda Accord 4 cylinders sport is that different
Yeah, but is the EX-L V6 without the Touring just as good as the Touring? AS far as the handling and that goes? I'm looking at getting a used 2017 V6 Accord.
Louis V that’s what I’m finding for !
Get a I4, if you have a need for speed just pick up a CBR600 with the extra 4k
skyeric875 exactly
LMAO
Get the V6, gas mileage does not suffer nearly as much as you think it would, extremely smooth driving experience that doesn't feel unfamiliar due to a CVT
Y'all just mad you didnt get the v6
@@brandon8900 not at all. If someone wanted a fast car... They wouldnt buy a honda. Its an economy car bro. Buy a bike if you really have an itch for speed
What about ride quality and comfort? Since the v6 has sporty suspension and bigger tyres does this mean it's noisy on bumps and generates more tyre noise? Do both perform the same on rough roads in terms of suspension and shock absorbers? I think these are very important points to mention since this is a midsize sedan that will most likely be used as a daily driver. Nobody wants an annoying car.
Love my 2008 2,4!!! litre sedan!Buyed 2012 and still without problems!!!Timing CHAIN!!!
Well I’m stuck. I hate CVT transmissions and I don’t want to pay for a timing belt in the V6. Guess I’ll look elsewhere.
Bought my 2015 2.4 CVT Accord EXL new and I find it has plenty of power. Silly to be concerned about 1/4 mile times unless you constantly drag race. We all go about the same speed down the highway. The 4 cylinder engine is far less complex and I get 35 MPG on trips. This is my 8th Accord and I usually put 250-350K on them and get another. I probably will not buy another new Accord as they have gone to turbos which run too hot
I had the 2015 4 CVT and hated it. Went back for the 2017 V6 and love it !!! I will never get a CVT again.
How much extra for the insurance premiums on the V6? You never touched on that...
Curb rash on the Touring/Sport rims just popped out to me. Why not show a good condition wheel when doing the close-up???
Why it is not available in Europe?
What about the refinement of the engine sound and smoothness of operation?
Laurie's nano second brother weaponed?
I wish the V6 manual was offered in the sedan.
Your 0-60 is way too slow for both models
Gao Lucas i was thinking the same thing. the 4-cylinder isnt a 9-second car.
the time for the V6 is actually 5.8 sec
5.8s is only for the manual, I think. The auto is much slower for better fuel efficiency
Gao Lucas yeah, Honda claims 5.4 on auto
Gao Lucas Most car testers only publish the fastest 0-60 times they get for a specific car. 0-60 times in the real world are almost always significantly slower than what the testers claim.
Did you compare the V6 against the 4 cylinder Sport 189 hp with CVT Transmission? Paddle shift? Sport mode?
My 2017 accord 4 gets 22.7 city with eco, should it do better than that
what about the acural tlx?
0-60 6.9 sec. that seems a bit off.
It is definitely off. Almost all credible automotive publications have the Accord V6 0-60 time in the high 5 second range.
Andy Jacobs Automotive publications test cars repeatedly to get the fastest 0-60 times possible in conditions that do not exist in real world driving. 0-60 times in real world driving are almost always significantly slower than what automotive publications claim.
97I30T I am well aware of that being a 20+ year subscriber to Car & Driver magazine. They also do a 5mph to 60mph test which mimics real world driving. Published numbers in Car & Driver have the V6 Accord doing 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and 5-60 in 5.9 seconds. I stand by my assessment that the acceleration numbers are off a bit in this video. I do realize that certain factors such as altitude affect performance also.
KentB27 they were on a race track. the conditions were perfect to get the lowest 0-60 time as the track should have been prepped for it. replace the drivers and rerun the test.
I was looking up 1/4 speed and the 06 v6 is still faster than all?
off the line the I4 with cvt is a little sluggish. But 25 km/h to 70 km/h it goes like hell. Daily driving, it has more than enough power unless you are Mario Andretti.
Looks like someone got too closed to the curb on the V6.
Poor wheel :(
love my 2017 4 banger accord sport se.. woohoo V6 is obviously a faster choice, but in reality anyone looking to buy a damn Honda Accord in general could really give less than two shits about speed and should probably looks for a subaru wrx or something.. I bought mine because i love their looks inside and out, space, and of course reliability..
What's the name of the colour on the v6? It looks so good.
