I agree, I work in data entry and this helps me do the work and pass the time. Also since I am one of two tech-savvy people in my work group (now working from home), this helps me get through some days when the computers and users just don't agree and everyone is coming to me. It is calming and helps me regroup my thoughts from one task to next.
I have a few tedious hobbies. And this music always helps when I'm making flies for fly fishing. It's that nostalgia of being a young kid in front of a 12 by 12 crt playing Mario Paint with my cousins, contrasted on my adult life now where my only real peace and respite comes from fishing

I love how all the boxarts were presented like books back then. It really spoke to how, in the 16 bit era, gaming effectively left its twitchy arcade roots and developed into adolescent storytelling medium. In my opinion between the PS1 era and now, gaming has largely gone off track by becoming too obsessed with realistic graphics rather than the unique stories games can create in the mind of the player. Some of the abstraction of the 16 bit era (and the dreamlike quality of the music) was necessary to effectively and practically present a story to the gamer. Since, like a book, you had to use your imagination for alot of it.
@@glennwwicks good points here, the more "realistic" games get the less fun they become. Hopefully games like Cuphead can show developers that games can still be artistic, they don't have to be lifelike, but most importantly they need to be fun
Cheers to this. Better graphics =/= a better game. Crysis and Cave Story are two fine examples of this concept - Crysis is hi-def garbage, while Cave Story is a lo-fi masterpiece. It's recently been all about pretty, open-world games with nothing inside but mundane repetitiveness, and I absolutely hate it. Games like Breath of the Wild, No Man's Sky, and Fallout 4 all lack diversity and imagination, and it just ends up being thin gameplay stretched across an enormous playing field. It's all flash and no substance these days; it seems like most game developers are more concerned with it _looking_ like a cutting-edge video game, rather than actually being one.

I appreciate the idea of an "adolescent storytelling medium" because so many games (not all, there's exceptions) try to actively be a TV show, movie, *and* a game all at once instead of focusing on an experience. Interaction is the whole point, and some games seem like they get the scripts that weren't even good enough to be a Netflix show (and we know about their standards). I remember arguing with a friend growing up, even at a young age as we headed into the late 90s that "real" graphics weren't the point; at least not to me. The point wasn't for it to be real, we live in what's real! It's about the experience!

Back in the day, as internet was expanding.. During the "aol 2.0" days.. after chat rooms but before myspace... .. I would download video game midi's to a floppy disk and copy them to cd. This sound is refreshing in many ways
Same. People always made fun of MIDIs because of the cheesy sound but for game music it was awesome. They took up basically kilobytes of space. I would listen to SNES soundtracks in MIDI form on repeat, in Winamp (if you wanted another throwback lol)
The Mario Paint BGM3 is so far ahead of it's time. There is something about it that just puts me at ease. It's like watching rain fall in predictable yet unpredictable patterns with a constant hum of something providing you comfort.

Hit me with that BGM 3!!! My absolute favorite track from any game ever ever ever. I also call it the "rumble track" because that sustained bass line will make any car's interior rumble when played at the right volume.
Everybody is aware that F-Zero has got a dope soundtrack, but it's impressive how even a minor screen in the game earned very nice piece of music. It's even more astonishing to remember this was a launch title,.when people are not supposed to know how to unlock the console's full potential yet. Such a beautiful arrangement.
1990 to 1995 was the golden era of video gaming. The graphics and soundtracks were amazing back then. Im born in 1985 and was lucky to have both the Snes and the original gameboy.
The beats that kick in in the latter half (at 1:07:23) of the Bomberman 3 "Planet Select 2" track are so unexpected! I didn't realize the SNES could make those sounds.

Nothing brings me back to time and place more than SNES music. Sitting alone playing hour after hour of Zelda, Shadowrun, ISS, SOM, F-ZERO, ALL STARS, SF2! - the music plays and I'm there - old tv (push buttons) clad in wood, dark room dimly lit byt he TV that has been on for hours. Snes carts surrounding me. One day I'll get back there. I was blessed that even though my family encouraged me to do different things, I was happy and they knew it.

Everyone's talking about Waterworld, I get it, it's a 10/10 SNES OST. But so is Equinox. Not only was most of its music done on half the chip's channels, but it didn't use any echo and it might have the longest looped track of any SNES game. Not to mention without this TH-cam upload compression, the soundtrack has an INSANE dynamic range.

I can't believe 3 hours went by on that first video. I was just in the zone for 3 goddamn hours! Damn I grew up on this console, but it feels like there are so many tracks that I missed out on. I use these to relax and focus while I work away at some 3D modeling. For some reason all these narration videos or podcasts just stopped working for me. It was only until yesterday I discovered the joy of just tuning out my brain to some nostalgic music from my childhood , while I work away at my hobbies. i always have a soft spot for booster tower... reason? simple, it took me a very long time as kid trying to climb the top of that level when the blocks were constantly moving and if you fell, you fell all the way to the bottom. Such an ironic way to reminisce upon such a treasured memory. Thank you for the both of these playlists! I have to say you have introduced me to a few cool games that i would have never have given the time of day. Number one in my mind would be waterworld, I wouldn't have bought that with someone else's money haha, but the soundtrack is just awesome!

Same. People always made fun of MIDIs because of the cheesy sound but for game music it was awesome. They took up basically kilobytes of space. I would listen to SNES soundtracks in MIDI form on repeat, in Winamp (if you wanted another throwback lol)
How about midi's quality that day? Are they similar to original music or more sucks like mm2wood.mid?

The Mario Paint BGM3 is so far ahead of it's time. There is something about it that just puts me at ease. It's like watching rain fall in predictable yet unpredictable patterns with a constant hum of something providing you comfort.
Those WaterWorld songs are extremely relaxing. Never knew.

I also call it the "rumble track" because that sustained bass line will make any car's interior rumble when played at the right volume.
Cor, that Waterworld soundtrack just keeps on giving. Who'd have thought.
Everybody is aware that F-Zero has got a dope soundtrack, but it's impressive how even a minor screen in the game earned very nice piece of music. It's even more astonishing to remember this was a launch title,.when people are not supposed to know how to unlock the console's full potential yet. Such a beautiful arrangement.
1990 to 1995 was the golden era of video gaming. The graphics and soundtracks were amazing back then. Im born in 1985 and was lucky to have both the Snes and the original gameboy.
The beats that kick in in the latter half (at 1:07:23) of the Bomberman 3 "Planet Select 2" track are so unexpected! I didn't realize the SNES could make those sounds.
That proves why SNES was the best back then, and still is, for me... To Hell with the flashy HD and stereo music, they're no match compared to this!
Retro 2D games (& their OST's) have helped me the most with achieving stoicism than anything else

One of the best SNES mixes on the internet. Absolutely of fulfills its purpose and my younger kids absolutely adore it. They cannot stay awake more than 10 minutes
I was sued in early 2001 for running a shoutcast stream that played SNES music like this. Settled in the end, but never lost my love for SNES music.
Woah, thats rough. I may have been a listener. There were a few at that time: one great jp arcade stream called EMUSICA which is long defunct now.
Nothing brings me back to time and place more than SNES music. Sitting alone playing hour after hour of Zelda, Shadowrun, ISS, SOM, F-ZERO, ALL STARS, SF2! - the music plays and I'm there - old tv (push buttons) clad in wood, dark room dimly lit byt he TV that has been on for hours. Snes carts surrounding me. One day I'll get back there. I was blessed that even though my family encouraged me to do different things, I was happy and they knew it.
That Illusion of Gaia's track is one of the most peaceful tunes ever made. Thank you so much for this second compilation :)

Everyone's talking about Waterworld, I get it, it's a 10/10 SNES OST. But so is Equinox.
Not only was most of its music done on half the chip's channels, but it didn't use any echo and it might have the longest looped track of any SNES game. Not to mention without this TH-cam upload compression, the soundtrack has an INSANE dynamic range.
Super Black Bass 3's intro really got me feeling like I'm floating beneath the water's surface looking up at the sky.

I can't believe 3 hours went by on that first video. I was just in the zone for 3 goddamn hours! Damn I grew up on this console, but it feels like there are so many tracks that I missed out on.
I use these to relax and focus while I work away at some 3D modeling. For some reason all these narration videos or podcasts just stopped working for me.
It was only until yesterday I discovered the joy of just tuning out my brain to some nostalgic music from my childhood , while I work away at my hobbies.

Btw, never played Water World but according to the music I’ve been hearing, probably should have! I only have a couple of suggestions should you decide to make another one. Soulblazer ending theme, Megaman X 1 and 3 ending themes, anything from Gemfire, and especially anything from Actraiser 1 & 2! Epilogue and ending theme from Final Fantasy IV, Both ending themes of Final Fantasy VI, and underworld theme of Terranigma. Thank you again for your awesome!

i always have a soft spot for booster tower... reason? simple, it took me a very long time as kid trying to climb the top of that level when the blocks were constantly moving and if you fell, you fell all the way to the bottom. Such an ironic way to reminisce upon such a treasured memory. Thank you for the both of these playlists! I have to say you have introduced me to a few cool games that i would have never have given the time of day. Number one in my mind would be waterworld, I wouldn't have bought that with someone else's money haha, but the soundtrack is just awesome!
