    I watched a lot of videos to see if someone say to remove battery first, you are the first one saying it after a lot of videos. BIG LIKE ! I wanted to add one more SSD to one Legion Pro 5 2024, after i open the plastic cover and try to unscrew ssd metal protection it makes one little spark when i touch the screw with screwdriver, after that when i finish, the laptop doesn't charge anymore.
    Lucky for me, the laptop had just arrived the day before and the store refunded my money when i send it back:)) also a little to strange, because i have an 5 years old Legion and it went through a lot of industrial sites, dust, bad environment , blowing with compressed air, disassembled several times for cleaning, etc. and still works perfectly. I know you need to remove battery but I was in a hurry so I dont give so much importance. As a warning, ALWAYS REMOVE BATTERY after you open the cover ! :))

      And there's also an option in the BIOS to put battery in service mode. I just did that, then the steps of this video (put in a second SSD) and it have booted up back again.

    I have Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX8 with i9 13900 and 4070. I upgraded from 16G ram 5600 to 64Gb ram (5600 but running as 5200. Kingston FURY KF556S40IBK2-64). After upgrade, I noticed that my laptop is much slower. Just doing basic stuff like file explorer and opening apps. What could be the reason?

  • @Jake-kw4ql
    @Jake-kw4ql 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    If I'm not mistaken... you have to enable xmp for intel, and expo for amd in the bios in order to get the full RAM feequency of 5600. But lenovo does not allow you to do so, for whatever reason they don't give the end user access to memory speed overclocking in their bios. It's unfortunate, lenovo is my favorite gaming laptop brand, but they are leaving basic pc functionality on the table with this decision. Memory overclocking is basically standard practice at this point as the advertised RAM speeds when purchasing RAM is the overclocked speed..

    For 2023 Legion 5i pro only the Intel i9 version supports 5600MHz RAM but the AMD version supports 5200MHz so that version too supports faster RAM speeds. The i7 and i5 versions only supports 4800MHz.

    Hello again @MashITTech! I have another question please: How thick is the pre-applied thermal padding to the SSD heatsinks? I ask because as me, you also seem to be very interested in using the 990 Pro 4TB drives and I just watched an important video about the different hight of the chips and controllers of the 990 Pro drives! >> th-cam.com/video/I8Z09nU554Q/w-d-xo.html
    He applies a 0.5 mm thick pad for the memory chips and 1.0 mm pad for the controller-part of the drive to achieve an even surface contact for a heatsink. This resulted in significant better temps for this hot drive and I want to do the same. I plan to remove the original padding and exchange it with the new 0.5 & 1.0 mm thick Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad Extreme... and I hope that the 0.5 & 1.0 mm are thick enough to get in contact with the original heatsinks of the laptop.
    I just wanted share this with you and others who are interested 😉

    • @MashITTech
      @MashITTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pre-applied pad is usually about .5mm on most laptops I have tested this year. And yes, totally makes sense to repad yourself for optimum temps.

Thanks for the reply if so and would love to know the limits as i've set my eyes on what i thought might be best which are : Kingston FURY Impact 32Go (2x16Go) 4800Mhz & Samsung SSD 990 Pro M.2 - 2Tb

SSD wise, you can run up to 2x 4tb SSD thanks to the new Samsung 990 pro single sided SSDs (recently covered these drives in a video if you are interested. Don't panic, although that is unusual I expect it was just inductance where the battery came into contact with the pins. The laptop is booting so you obviously didn't connect the battery incorrectly and just make sure you test the laptop on battery only to ensure it was plugged in fine
