Be wary of sellers on Amazon selling Lenovo laptops as new while in fact they were returned hence the cheaper price. Some sellers even deliver laptops with lower specs than ordered.

Go for a newer one if the budget allows. I bought one in 2023. And I am happy with it. Except try looking for gen 5 instead of gen 4. Which the on ly regret I have. Otherwise. The looks doesn't really much matter look more cuz of performance. Other than that it works wonders. Most games run 1440p but the ones more beefy 1080p.

I got a 2021. I upgraded the storage and ram on it, and it serves me well. I'm one of those people that until I can't run the games I want to play at console level framerates or settings, I don't upgrade. It's been running great for a few years, and I estimate based on how slow tech is moving, I'll probably get another 6 to 7 years out of it.

Bought a 2020 Legion 7i model as a refurb in late 2020. 10750H-2070Super. Needed some LM to really do it's thing, but after that, excellent. Still has one of the best/colorpop screens I've ever used. Decided I wanted something a little smaller to carry around. Went for a Legion Slim 7 AMD model (7840HS-4060) That machine is almost perfect. It has occasional issues switching off the 4060 and going iGPU. But that is almost always cured by a sleep/wake cycle. Always went with the 7 models, I dig the aluminum. And in the case of the Slim 7, a Unibody. The only other mfgr that comes close/even would be Asus. It's always between those 2 for me. Asus makes great stuff too. Some may find them more appealing. But I dig the Low Profile with power that Legion pulls off so well. Cheers.

If you’re just sitting doing nothing maybe a few more hours. This thing isn’t meant to be unplugged unfortunately. A lot of power just not enough battery to supply it for any realistic amount of time. But I knew this going into it because I’ve 2 legions already. This one however is a little worse than the others as far as battery drain.

Surely the benchmarks were fairly irrelevant given the total change in GPU lineup? You're using a 3060 2021 version and comparing it to a 3070ti, when the real comparison should be between the 5800 & 6800.

I was planning to buy the custom 5i pro but eversince 7i launched with that 3.2k display, I decided to hold on. Coz for about the same price, it's far better option. Hopefully lenovo bring 5i pro with custom option to have 3.2k display and pls with HDR1000 🙏🙏🙏🙏
& also, am thinking of saving up even more for an rtx 4080 series machine instead of the 4070s bcoz the 8gb Vram with TGP capping by OEM at 100-110 W doesn't feel like a future proof graphics card to have in laptop with upcoming titles all planned to roast the older GPU devices with their engines and amazing graphix
    Any suggestions @BenGKaiser sir?
Also, could u please make a video comparison between 7i pro RTX 4080 vs SCAR 16 rtx 4080..bcoz i found the SCAR having the lead bcoz of the display for the price!

Regarding upgradeability, do all model years only allow a single-sided SSD to be installed in the primary M.2 slot? Lenovo, in their infinite wisdom, decided to place the rather thick keyboard cable connector UNDER the M.2 module placed in the primary M.2 slot, which prevents a double-sided SSD from being mounted there. At least this is how things unfortunately are in my 2023 model.
I found a cheap M.2 "riser card" so to speak, really meant to elongate shorter M.2 modules to fit in e.g. 2280 screw holes, and thought of using this to raise a dual-sided SSD I have free from the keyboard connector. But Lenovo had of course placed their M.2 connector too close to the side of the chassis for this arrangement to fit... Lenovo really screwed things up here. Only the secondary M.2 slot accommodates double-sided SSDs.
Regarding the horrible lit up logo on the lid being there also on newer models, I think this is only available in some Asian markets. Poor bastards.
Regarding "upgrading to a newer model", yeah, that might happen for me in 2030 or something. C'mon man, the "oldest" model being shown here is only from 2021! Performance-wise, the dGPU is the only meaningful difference between these, when comparing two laptops of the same tier specs (I mean e.g. gen x i7 + RTX xx60 vs gen y i7+ RTX yy60).

I have the Legion 5 Pro AMD 2021, 2022 and now the 2023 version as the 2024 version is not out yet.
Too bad the 7745 only supports up to 64GB and not 96GB.
Silly me not researched that part so I couldn't use the 96GB of my mini PC.
Have to buy a 64GB kit.
And see how I can transfer my Samsung 980 pro 2TB from the 2022 to the 2023 model without having to reinstall windows hopefully.
The Legion 5 Pro AMD series hasn't let me down once.
Lenovo has build a solid bang for buck series.
Still remember the 2021 model brought on Netherlands market for €1650 in Corona time and it's still cheaper than the competition🙌🏼

Also the SSD on the 2021 model is PCIE 3.0 and the newer models are PCIE 4.0
Every newer model has better engineered details like every model has a better keyboard typing wise. The screen has better performance each model.
It all comes down to what your budget is for the laptop I would recommend 2023 model if you want to be future proof.

I bought the 2021 model (now discontinued) literally in 2021 of the year. I thought I was future proof (and am) but fast forward to 2022 and I see Lenovo discontinued the 2021 model from their website and took out the 2022 model a year later. Dang.. . And I wish I woulda waited one more year for the new specs and whistles. Not that the 2021 model is any less. It gets the job done. But I have this thing where I want more and more onto the laptop specs. For example the chipset, graphics card like vram and having Nvidia over Ryzen sucks. Preferred the higher end GPU on the Ryzen than the 2021 model. The newer models of legion have more Vram. And it would make games less lag (on extremely rare occasions i noticed it on the 2021 games).

@@Abcd325-f7vdepends on what u play. I only play esports titles, leatue of legends etc its pretty enough. I have the 2021 l5p witz rtx 3070 and ryzen 5 5800h and its a beast. Even Cyberpunk runs great. If you play high consuming aaa titles Id wait for 50 series gpus or wait until black friday to get a decent deal on a rtx 4080 atleast

Great computer but I decided to go for another one for a very simple reason designers should look a little bit more into. It doesn' t fit in any of my backbaks. Not for everyone bot for some, size matters😁

My lenovo legion 5 died after a year and a half. I used to be a big lenovo fan but not now. Unacceptable. Surfed the net and I find I am not alone. Look up issues for lenovo buyers beware.

Don't buy 4070 laptop if there is a huge gap between 4060 and 4070. Because there is hardly 7% difference and all specs are same.
In desktop gpu there is huge difference in spec.

@@TomasN37 4060 and 4070 laptop specs are same and hardly there is 8% difference. And some youtubers have shown that game lags little bit after turning on dlss. Dlss is just new name for getting more fps. It's same as we manually decrease resolution to get more fps.

Which Lenovo Legion would you choose and why? Looking for a laptop for graphic design/photography (mostly Adobe software + Affinity). Of course RAM would be upgraded to 32 GB.
    1) Lenovo Legion Slim 5 - Ryzen 7 7840HS + RTX 4060

what did ya choose? I'm thinking of get the 4th option for myself soon (ryzen 7 7745HX + 4060) which is about a little bit over $1200 in my country, still haven't known if it's the best option atm.
