It looks like you have a "civilian" version. The side entry hand warmer pockets and removable fur collar and some versatility to the jacket. GREAT CHOICE.

I own 3 issued G-1's, a Lost Worlds G-1, 2 repo A-2's, Vance and Hines Motorcycle jacket and a Schott Perfecto. I have used all of them at one time or another when I ride. The leather and if it of the Cockpit jackets looks amazing. @@MichaelHsu95

Hi Simon, happy Easter! That’s a hard one as I really like them both, but I got to say cockpit usa is better. I love the removable collar, side entry hand warming pockets and the USN stamp in the wind flap, all things that avi leather jacket doesn’t have. And the leather is Soo soft! Are you thinking of getting one?
@@MichaelHsu95 thanks Michael. I bought the AVI Leather G1 and love it. So soft. I'm now thinking of an AVI Leather A2 Bronco also in goatskin but your new G1 looks very nice. Maybe looks a little fuller cut than the AVI ?

Great jacket Michael. Please don't use scissors to open boxes. I worked in a stockroom for years and witnessed some terrible wounds from people doing that. Box cutters are cheap.

I would say it’s very dark brown but definitely not black

I'm 6ft tall, about 180lbs and I have a size 42 mil spec G1 from Cockpit USA. It's the right fit.
It is meant to be snug. If you want more room get an A2...

No, I’m with JoJo, it isn’t the correct size for you. It just doesn’t look good if it’s too large, the G1 is meant to be snug. Just wear a high quality merino Henley shirt under it and the jacket will keep you warm.
I’m not saying it to be mean, but the jacket will look much better on you if you take one size down. It’s the same thing with wearing a suit, the fit is the most important thing. Of course you can decide “The correct size is whatever you like on you, but you look much better wearing the correct size.

I’d have to disagree a bit unless you’re talking about affordablity. Aero leathers, Real McCoy, Eastman, Buzz Rickson and Bill Kelso are the Gold Standard for WW2 recreations. Just my opinion of course. Not real keen on the fit of Cockpit. Oh yeah if the US military uses it it means it went to the lowest bidder not the best🤣
