Bought me a B3 Bomber 20 years ago. Im not lying when i say that its one of, if not the best purchase, ive ever made. I keep it fresh with beeswax from time to time. This jacket is timeless, warm and comfortable. It can be 20 degrees outside and im wearing a tshirt underneath.
@@zeropoint546 I have my first leather jacket. It’s mid range distressed racer/cafe racer jacket. My old ass looks pretty good in it. I just returned a shearling jacket I got my wife. She is so cold natured, but she did not like the bulkiness, and the offset zipper. We went on eBay, and found a barely used Harley racer jacket, that’s rather tastefully done, as some of their jackets can be a little tacky. She does not have a decent jacket.
I've been wearing a real leather shearling jacket, B3 Bomber style, since 2003. Bought it at Wilson's leather, it's fully lined, still looks great! It was originally $300 and I got it on clearance for $100!
I may be three weeks late but I have been waiting for this video Antonio! My fiancé just recently got me a shearling coat from Overland for our anniversary. Man such an amazing wardrobe piece. This video nailed the description of this coat. I had to wear mine while watching this video.
Just got back from Buenos Aires and bought a $350 fully-lined brown/white shearling jacket downtown around Florida Street. Argentina has some of the world’s worst inflation now. Bad for them but good for us. The country is also known for its leather. Saved me over a thousand dollars. Pay cash in US dollars for the most savings. They even threw in a free bottle of Argentine red wine.
Great video Antonio. I completely agree that shearling jackets are one of the most functional but yet stylish jackers for a man to wear in winter. I have a few and swear by them in the colder months. Thanks again 👍
I’m unable to wear wool and fleece for multiple reasons, and it isn’t an optimal look for me anyway, so it’s not a huge loss for my wardrobe. I do, however, tend to prefer sheepskin over other types of leathers, and I both look and feel amazing in a well-fitted black sheepskin leather jacket. As for shearling jackets, I’m comfortable as an admirer of those who can pull off the look, including you, Antonio. 🖤
In my country, in the old days, the longer version of this jacket was called "Alain Delon" :) The term is still used, but this kind of clothing is not really worn as before and it is not so cold anymore.
I got a b-7 shearing jacket a few years back. That’s the version of the b-3 they gave to pilots specifically in Alaska. And yes it’s the warmest, most comfortable and most complimented jacket i own
Wife bought me a medium length Sheerling jacket from some store in NY City. Absolutely my favorite! One of my Ragdoll cats got sick. Let her sleep on it until she got better! A little brushing…as good as new!
I’ve always wanted one and have often searched secondhand stores for one but did recently get the same jacket you’re wearing in all black. Haven’t quite figured out how to stylishly turn the collar up but it feels amazing
I have the same and all i did was halfway zip and popped the collar up to cover my face while i did some work. When i passed by a window i noticed the collar looked like tom hardys amd i was like damn 👀, not exact but very close. Now it is tight on me so that may have been a big reason the collar stayed in that position. But wow ive gotten more compliments that day then ive ever gotten the previous 5 years of working there 😂.
In Arabia we have heavy Bisht that are made with camel and sheep wool worn Northern tribes, but later I had a sherling Jacket I didn't know its called a Sherling jacket the quality and ruggedness unmatched, highly recommend.
I'm a rancher.... I have a slicker for when it's raining, a bomber winter coat and a sheepskin jacket. Pair them with a felt hat. Leather is good. I hate to think only Bikers should use it.
Another great episode. I've owned four of these in the past two decades. They are absolutely worth the investment. I currently own a chocolate brown shearling with black fur. The hood is detachable. The shearling I had prior is black with black and gray fur. I currently use that one for shoveling. The bomber style is a classic. I found a high end designer 3/4 length (kinda like a pea coat) but it was comparable to a mortgage payment... It was very nice, in an overcoat style. Beautiful piece. Last note, in addition to it keeping you warm and looking stylish, you really are the only one in a room with one on. I've been able to wear mine with jeans, slacks and even over a suit.
Hi, nice to meet such a leather jackets lover! Four shearling jackets in the past two decades, that is very much! But I am not much worse, I have worn 3 leather jackets, now I am having one shearling and one black lamb leather. What kind of fur do your jackets have? Do you mean the shearling fur, or is it combined with other animal´s fur (rabbit...)?
@lukasbejcek8841 Mine have all been lambskin and wool (traditional shearlings, bomber style). The exterior finish have all been suaded. I don't care much for the hardened finish. I typically have taken mine in for restoration after its 3rd year. They get cleaned, re die, etc. Totally worth the investment as each coat has lasted me years. My current coat is going on 6 years and only this year, the handle to the zipper of my hood has broken. It's a very easy fix. I absolutely love ny shearling.
@@atvega7 Thanks, bud. I like the combination, one light leather jacket for warmer weather and the warm shearling-fur jacket for winter. So, I can walk in leather for a nice part of year. The Tom Hardy Bane coat is based off the heavy Swiss military coats often called Livpäls or M1909 coat. By far the most heavy duty shearling coat out there. They were made in the 1940s-50s.
The fashion isn't for me but the history lesson is great. Appreciate more content like that. Don't need an interest in fashion to understand it's been important to history. What we wear and why.
My parents got me my first sheepskin coat when I was 16-17yrs old. I don’t remember the exact year but it was prior to 1965. It was made by McGreggor and was real sheepskin (shearling) throughout. Unfortunately it was left somewhere and lost. Over the years a few more shearling coats came and went including one from the Cockpit, a NYC purveyor of vintage flying gear for us posers of fashion. I felt above it all as my father and uncle had been early aviators from the 20s and 30s and military pilots during WWll and probably had a collection of all the original high altitude gear needed back in the day. I still have a couple of shearling pieces but have found the old style military sheepskin flying jacket of WWll a bit too much for today’s trendy society… that is unless your flying an old Stearman biplane
I wish I could wear shearling, but I live in SoCal. I have a beautiful Belstaff shearling jacket I got for a steal but wear it MAYBE twice a year. It’s too damn warm out here.

I won't deny these jacket styles look great, but coming from a very warm climate, these are only wearable items for 2 months out of the year. And in the early morning and very late afternoon, at that. My two jackets are a simple denim jacket and a brown canvas jacket, but they're also only items I wear during Nov-Jan.
I too live in a country where it doesn't get that cold in winter, and I don't have any winter jackets or coats. It's a leather jacket and a cotton jacket, and if I travel somewhere cold, I just layer up. These jackets look great, but they aren't appropriate where I live.
@@jt1559 The struggle is real, isn't it? So many of the stylish suits, jackets, leather bombers, etc, all look great. But the range when they be worn makes it hard to justify the price. My 'winter' wardrobe consists of a denim jacket, a canvas jacket, and a couple hoodies.
Yeah, it's a real shame! Even here in central Europe the temperature scarcely ever dips below freezing nowadays, so I'd probably only get to wear one of these jackets once or twice per year without sweating to death!
Same here. It’s yet to hit freezing here. I have a heavy company supplied work coat that I never use. I layer up, and peel off layers as it warms up. I just got my first leather jacket in 20 years, and it’s simple, with light quilting inside.
I like the jacket that you're wearing, it looks stylish but for a more vintage genuine B-3 bomber jacket style then take a look at AVI leather B-3 bomber. For the money I doubt if anyone can beat it and it's free shipping over I believe €399 Euros and also a 20% discount on all non Euro orders. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pull the trigger on one. Thanks for the video 👍
Im a huge fan of leather jackets and have planned on making my own leather coat. However mine is different because mines a longcoat and using off cuts that is patched together with the main body is a sherling lining. Im debating wether i make the sleeves detatchable so i can wear it for multiple seasons. The patxhwork i want to do for cost and that sight of remade and hand done in areas but made with care. Im a costume person so all the pieces i want that function and that appeal with people asking where they could get one and id say no where because i made it.
When talking about its resurgence the past couple of decades from media (such as 2012's The Dark Knight Rises), I was really disappointed that you never mentioned the biggest reason of all: Leon S. Kennedy, and specifically, Resident Evil 4. The game was released in 2005 for the GameCube, and further popularized by the awesome 2007 Wii release. Leon absolutely killed it in that game, proving to the consummate, stylish tough guy. He literally made that jacket, and made me do everything to look it up, buy it, and wear it proudly. Bonus style: It goes great with fingerless sap gloves.
Love the content Antonio! I personally however would change the title of this video to something like "Why the shearling jacket is so great" instead of 'not buying a leather jacket'. Just makes more sense and don't want to scare off the boys that love their leather!!
Exactly! I am glad that the video was posivite about leather jackets, dont think that the title scared off many leather lovers. So, are you a leather jackets wearer, too?
I've got a vintage Schott B3 coming in from japan any day now, so excited! One thing I don't get is how different the skin side finish is on different shearling jackets. Shouldn't it always be a suede finish on the skin side? On the Schott b3 it appears to be a leather type of finish. How is this possible?
For a real one, not faux it's expensive - around $1500 USD new. Schott NYC sells the B3 that Leon Kennedy's jacket was based on. Cockpit USA sells the RAF Shearling Tom Hardy wore. Overland sells some cheaper but authentic shearling jackets around $700-$900 new too.
I’m 44 years old and 6’4” and athletic build. I have tried a whole bunch of leather jackets in recent months including the B3 shearling from respected leather jacket brand. Not a single one of them fit me well, they always feel too short and silly looking. I wish they were made longer for us taller guys.
Wanted a B3 since I was a kid. I was finally able to get one in 2006 from Lost Worlds. The quality is amazing and well worth the money. BUT... if you get a jacket like that, at the quality level Lost Worlds makes you need to be committed to it and really want it. It's everything it was meant to be and nothing less. Made to be a work jacket to keep you warm at 25k+ ft. and be durable.... which translates to it's EXTREMELY warm....anything more than a t-shirt underneath and you'll be too hot, most of the time, even when it's very cold out you won't even need to zip it up to keep warm. When winter comes you'll be praying for bad weather and extreme temps just so you can get a chance to wear it...also, it's so stiff it's like wearing a straight jacket. Your movements are very restricted in it... forget about trying to drive a vehicle wearing it, you can barely turn the wheel in the full motion you may need and you can't turn to look over your shoulder etc.. It's also very heavy.... if you travel during the winter with it on an airline it almost needs its own seat, forget about putting it in the bin above your seat you'll most likely have to hold it in your arms the entire flight or stand it up on the floor between your legs.... and if you travel with a backpack you'll have to carry it or take the jacket off and carry it under your arm to be able to wear your backpack. Wearing it into town, to the office, out to dinner or to walk the dog is not going to break this thing in... You've got to really do physical work to break it in, and if you do... all that time will be frustrating as **ck and will be harder than it needs to be because the leather is so stiff and you'll be fighting to get the movement you need... and most people are not going to want to wear a jacket that costs as much and is as beautiful as Lost Worlds are to do that type of work in even though that's what it's made to do. After 18 years mine is still not broken in. Have had a chance to wear it in a few bad Boston and Bavarian winters, shoveling snow etc, but unfortunately not enough as soon after I got it, and since I have been working in tropical locations and barely get to the USA or Europe during winter. Regardless of all the above, I love the jacket, am glad I got it, and would not even think of buying one anywhere else other than Lost Worlds. My brother has a few of their jackets and the quality is amazing on all of them.
In blade runner 2049. The costume designer made Ryan gosling's jacket out of urethane coated cotton and synthetic fur. She specifically wanted it to look like he didn't have a lot of money and he bought it because it was practical and affordable. Although it is funny because the official replica is almost $500.
I bought the Schott B3 jacket . It's very warm and softens the more I wear it. It's also expensive. Is there a certain way to break this jacket in?. What are your thoughts on Schott jackets?
If you're going to shop for shearling bomber jackets why not just go to the source? The first company to put a zipper on a jacket *IN THE WORLD* was Schott NYC. They fabricated and supplied U.S. aircrews during both wars, and they still craft them today. I personally own several of their jackets and they're outstanding. Even the zippers glide with precision. In my opinion they have no peers. Even if a customer has a custom design they'd like to own (Blade Runner 2049) they'd be happy to accommodate after taking your measurements. Do they cost more? Yes. But they're built to last with premium materials. Cheers!🍺
I don't want the RAF Irvin jacket because of Tom, though I certainly respect his style. I want it because I respect the men who wore it originally and flew in it. It's such a great piece of history.

Nobody knew who I was until I put on the jacket
Im a huge fan of leather jackets and have planned on making my own leather coat. However mine is different because mines a longcoat and using off cuts that is patched together with the main body is a sherling lining. Im debating wether i make the sleeves detatchable so i can wear it for multiple seasons.
The patxhwork i want to do for cost and that sight of remade and hand done in areas but made with care. Im a costume person so all the pieces i want that function and that appeal with people asking where they could get one and id say no where because i made it.
I’m in Australia and I can’t remember ever seeing someone wear one. Super rare, it might also be not quite cold enough to wear much.
I just purchased a new distressed cafe racer jacket. B-3 would be too much since I’m on the gulf coast.
So where are the best places to buy a Shearling jacket??
For a real one, not faux it's expensive - around $1500 USD new. Schott NYC sells the B3 that Leon Kennedy's jacket was based on. Cockpit USA sells the RAF Shearling Tom Hardy wore. Overland sells some cheaper but authentic shearling jackets around $700-$900 new too.
I have 2 shearling coats .I love them.
I heard that the costume designer on Dark Knight Rises spent a great deal of time working on Bane's coat to make it look just right.
I’m 44 years old and 6’4” and athletic build. I have tried a whole bunch of leather jackets in recent months including the B3 shearling from respected leather jacket brand. Not a single one of them fit me well, they always feel too short and silly looking. I wish they were made longer for us taller guys.
Try Blake Hedley custom
3/4 trench style is the way to go for myself.
They are too hot, heavy and bulky anyway. Don't recommend, you will never wear it.
Get it custom made right at the source
Got Schott B-3 a few years ago and I will never look back to wear puffers.
00:50 shot from 1960s film The War Lover.
By far the baddest jackets on the planet!! Nothing is even close.
I like the coat shown at 5:40 into the video. I wish I could find it. 😕
Sir, the jacket on this post what is the brand or where can I purchase it
These jackets always reminds me of the cop on Rambo.
Any idea who makes these available for big/tall gentlemen?!
In blade runner 2049. The costume designer made Ryan gosling's jacket out of urethane coated cotton and synthetic fur. She specifically wanted it to look like he didn't have a lot of money and he bought it because it was practical and affordable. Although it is funny because the official replica is almost $500.
I was expecting Capcom to be this video's sponsor.
dude, investment. Some do look amazing tho may hafta shell out the dough. ✔️
Just don’t get caught in the rain - want to like leather jackets, but one rainstorm will ruin them. I learned the hard way - never again.
I bought the Schott B3 jacket . It's very warm and softens the more I wear it. It's also expensive. Is there a certain way to break this jacket in?. What are your thoughts on Schott jackets?
Shearling fur collar leather jacket. Best of both worlds. A shearling lined jacket can be too hot. I have one that I rarely wear
They are great jackets I have 2 of them
Looks like my favorite jacket is getting popular. Now I'll look generic in it
If you're going to shop for shearling bomber jackets why not just go to the source?
SIR PLEASE MADE A VIDEO FOR BEST COLOURS FOR A INDIVIDUAL
Added this to my list! Thank you
I would like to know where to get one made for me as i am 6'4" 240 lbs
None i have found over the years fits me haha
Cockpit USA has wery big sizes. I am a bit smaller than you at 6'3 200lbs and I didn't get the biggest one.
