So I have another in 40 which I can wear from the early 90s. Your vids keep old guys like me in tune with what's in and what's out. Great stuff.

I think my list would be… Brave Star Onyx Sherpa, Iron & Resin Rambler, Schott 370 Duke, Schott P637 Storm, and… ugh. Probably Schott 530 racer just because it’s so versatile. Maybe Taylor Stitch boss duck Workhorse.

I would have a variety more like 7-8 cause I love Levi’s denim jackets and the various styles, also that I love denim shirts as well, also that I’m guilty of always wearing a denim jacket even when it’s hot and I love the Levi’s corduroy jackets and the work jackets they make as well
If I only had 5 jackets. Since I moved to Florida all of my great winter stuff just hangs in the closet, I am tempted to get a place in NC just to have some winter weather to visit for part of the winter and of course to get out of the sweltering summers.

I think I could go to Only 5 Jackets pretty easily, though it would be sad to get rid of a couple...and I'd definitely cheat and put my Columbia polyfill and rain shells back together as one piece (how I bought it) to get a two-for-one.

I have three of those L C King jackets in blue that I rotate in winter , I warm up quickly and usually wear a long sleeve Henley underneath. There was a missing top end jacket from your rack that you reviewed years ago said it was a grail piece that you always wanted .
I bought a blue ranchwear blanket lined denim chorecoat from boot barn for $100. So far I've been impressed. I rotate it with my carhart blanket lined shirt-jacket. For the price the details are good.
Folsom rugged twill cruiser looks nice. American trench has a similar twill jacket called the landing jacket in that same vibrant red color that I think looks outstanding. Only 5 jackets

I’d like to give a shout out to heat straps (I have nothing from them but want something and will pull the trigger eventually), Railcar fine goods and of course Weatherwool. These brands are really great for the classic workwear look in apparel.
Hey Carl, the thing you mentioned about jackets that have excess fabric for moving is known as an action back. This was originally something developed for sports coats for hunting purposes. They're now a rarity as most companies don't want to pay for the extra material cost unless they have to.
Carl...you need to get wider/broader hangers for a few of your pieces. The denim jacket for one. The hanger is causing that hump at the shoulder. Believe it or not if that sat there for 6 months it would be hard to reverse. Same thing with your heavy coats. The b3 bomber hanger is also changing the jackets shape. PS i also purged but i only could get down to 6 jackets and 3 coats. Its tough because in 4 seasons climates you need more.
Mine would be my carhartt fr insulated jackets (any)I own several thoe and my high vis refrgiwear extreme with my milwaulkee hoodie.dont like to be cold and since I work out side it’s gets cold in winter here in Baltimore!

I actually have 3 different wool cruiser / hunting coats in red and black buffalo check and my favorite in green and black buffalo check. Wool jackets are definitely my favorite.

Cool. I've been decluttering as well. Only keeping the stuff that really makes me feel lika a million bucks. I don't limit myself to a certain number of pieces but I'm selling everything that isn't perfect or near perfect. If the sleeves are a tad bit short or smth it's going. If I don't wear it much, eventho it might be a super cool piece, it's going. It's kinda heartbreaking but also a nice process.

I just bought a Filson waxed cruiser. If you ever fly into or out of SeaTac beware of the Folsom store in the N terminal. I don’t think I’ll be allowed in that terminal unchaperoned anymore. But now I have only 5 jackets. Also speaking of jackets. Have yiu ever reviewed jackets from Coronado leather? I suspect the quality is iffy but since your true classic video I’ve seen nothing but ads for these jackets. If you review them perhaps you can scare them off too 😊
I don’t think I could ever have only 5 jackets, but my top 3 right now are a schott moto jacket, a Tellason coverall jacket, and a vintage made in Italy cashmere long overcoat.

Yeah that's the annoying thing about higher priced brands. They seem to not put much thought into mobility, I have ONE jacket that has a bi swing back, from iron and resin. Only got like three pairs of pants that have a gusseted crotch and articulated knees.
After watching this, I got to thinking of the one jacket I didn't get and I really wish I had. The Patriot from the colab between Heat Straps and Nicks. Ironically when they first released it I just didn't like it. Then I saw another picture which made me completely change my mind and I was to late poof it was gone with a quickness.

Only 5 Jackets, for sure something I have been putting off as well. I have 2 or 3 i really actually wear and 4 or 5 more that I occasionally wear because I like them and make an excuse to wear. The rest are pretty much closet decorations that I haven’t parted with.

Five jackets is a great idea and one that I am trying fklor: 1. Mac Raincoat, 2. Harrington, 3. Brown leather, 4. Navy/blue sportscoat and 5. Charcoal wool car coat. This is easier when you don't live somewhere that doesn't get too cold in winter.

I just found a Mackinaw jacket at the thrift store for $18. It was perfect except for two missing buttons. Now to search for buttons. The store was freezing so as soon as I put it on it was warm. I also have plenty of jackets. I can’t imagine letting one of them go.
You might have some luck contacting filson and asking if they can send ya some replacement buttons for it or just sending it into them for repair. What an awesome find. I dream of finding one randomly at a thrift store but I live in Portland Oregon and there are way too many people here making their living picking through the goodwill bins.

My four casual jackets are one black leather jacket, one olive denim with a plaid lining and corduroy collar, and two Harringtons.

Maybe you should do seven boots/jackets/etc instead of five; correspond to one week.
Great idea. The one that pissed me off was the idaho. Also, dude only kept 5 boots but just got another pair of Nicks.
I just found a Mackinaw jacket at the thrift store for $18. It was perfect except for two missing buttons. Now to search for buttons. The store was freezing so as soon as I put it on it was warm. I also have plenty of jackets. I can’t imagine letting one of them go.
You might have some luck contacting filson and asking if they can send ya some replacement buttons for it or just sending it into them for repair. What an awesome find. I dream of finding one randomly at a thrift store but I live in Portland Oregon and there are way too many people here making their living picking through the goodwill bins.
@@Newspeak. thanks for the advice. I forgot I sent them a bag with a broken zipper. They sent me a replacement bag. I randomly went to a Goodwill store at night and there it was. I can see why people pay so much for these jackets but never could justify buying a new one.
Only 5 Jackets - so tough to whittle down jackets - I could see your pain but you did great! :)
