Yeah that's the annoying thing about higher priced brands. They seem to not put much thought into mobility, I have ONE jacket that has a bi swing back, from iron and resin. Only got like three pairs of pants that have a gusseted crotch and articulated knees.

I just found a Mackinaw jacket at the thrift store for $18. It was perfect except for two missing buttons. Now to search for buttons. The store was freezing so as soon as I put it on it was warm. I also have plenty of jackets. I can’t imagine letting one of them go.
You might have some luck contacting filson and asking if they can send ya some replacement buttons for it or just sending it into them for repair. What an awesome find. I dream of finding one randomly at a thrift store but I live in Portland Oregon and there are way too many people here making their living picking through the goodwill bins.

Damn, only five jackets? Does this include for work as well as casual? Surely not, right. For myself, I couldn't narrow it down that much. Between work, casual, and technical applications such as hunting and hiking not to mention light outerwear for fall and spring plus heavier for winter... five would just not satisfy my needs much less my abiding love for high quality outerwear. I probably I have about 8-9 jackets right now and it has been a process to really hone in on what I truly need and I've let many jackets go to other good homes over the years as I've learned more about what I like and upgraded my collection over the years. But five would honestly be too few for me. I think I could maintain where I'm at with about 8 and be pretty much covered, but 10-12 would be a sweet spot for me as an end game. With that many, spread across all seasons and application I feel like I would have all my bases covered, still have some "fun" pieces. At that number I could still wear and use each jacket like it deserved. With anything less than 8 I would be probably missing something for a given situation... with more than 12 I would be in the realm of jacket gluttony.

Wow. That was rugged. Your father and I were on the same page years ago. I have a Mac Cruiser from 1975 in Bufalo plaid in size 38 which I can't wear because I'm old and not a 38 anymore. So I have another in 40 which I can wear from the early 90s. Your vids keep old guys like me in tune with what's in and what's out. Great stuff.

I just bought a Filson waxed cruiser. If you ever fly into or out of SeaTac beware of the Folsom store in the N terminal. I don’t think I’ll be allowed in that terminal unchaperoned anymore. But now I have only 5 jackets. Also speaking of jackets. Have yiu ever reviewed jackets from Coronado leather? I suspect the quality is iffy but since your true classic video I’ve seen nothing but ads for these jackets. If you review them perhaps you can scare them off too 😊
If I only had 5 jackets. Since I moved to Florida all of my great winter stuff just hangs in the closet, I am tempted to get a place in NC just to have some winter weather to visit for part of the winter and of course to get out of the sweltering summers.
