    Great extensive information about the firmware and differences and the why. This is exactly what I've been missing in other channels. It all makes sense it's a better sound OR a better image OR a better stability(aka electricity eater) and they still must keep it at the same price point as the competitor. (Most?) people just search for the price and the 4K and don't want to dive further into the specs, so it's therefore very important for these companies to keep the price very low.

    Good Video - very informative and in the way that matters. ie the low light tests for action cam. I thought about this too but, as you said, it's an action cam meant for outdoors. Made me realize I'm over-thinking these options in a camera for what I would use it for. Thanks!

    I JUST got the Campark with a $30 off coupon on Amazon! 12-18-2020. I liked your vid and agreed on the other camera being better but $30 buck is $30 bucks! Again, bestest deal you have given us is the DBPower D5. Looks very much like an Akaso. Good explanation about a manufacturer marketing under different names. Similar, but different and hardware related. I had never owned a GoPro brand action camera until recently. I got a used Hero 2018 for about $75. After looking on TH-cam to learn about it, I found out there was a hardware update that would make it a Hero 5. Lots of discussions about the internals being the same, just the firmware on the 2018 was restricted. I loaded the update on the Hero 2018 and I now have a Hero 5! So the explanation about the firmware limitations on certain cameras was very true. I agree Akaso could fix the audio sync problem with a firmware update. As always I enjoy your channel and thanks for sharing.

    When checking out these obscure-sounding action camera brands, it might be worth your while to check their website and look for the availability of firmware updates. If there's none, then you know it's a one-shot rebranding job where you'll have to live with whatever you get when you buy it. Some brands, like SJCAM, do offer updates which means they invest in making sure shortcomings are addressed... although this might vary model to model even within the same brand.

    Thanks for the review, and that little clip comparing it to the osmo action. That's exactly what I was looking for. These are available on Amazon at the moment with a $30 coupon, and I was tempted because $100 is not bad, but I think ...in all honesty it makes more sense to save the additional and get the osmo or even the GoPro. The osmo dropped to 199 for prime day, so ideally it drops again soon. It's worth double the price imo, better low light , better stabilization, better audio, better video quality better software support.

    I have bought action cams on Alibaba from a manufacturer called HD King. They have a full range of cameras that they private brand. There are a handful of manufacturers but lots of brands. Alibaba is simply a listing market place for suppliers and manufacturers. Basically a b2b marketplace. Many manufacturers will allow you to sample their product by buying 1 unit. However shipping is usually expedited by courier, not by China, Hong Kong or Singapore mail. Prices are substantially lower.

    Nice video and very well explained Andre. Just to talk about branding in general. Have wondered about the one drone i have, as i have seen another 4 identical models with different names. Controller, battery and capability, everything is identical but different brand name. The big difference is the price, i discovered in my searches. The one brand is $100 more expensive, for the exact same item. In ending, think the Akaso would be my choice as well. But would not mind the Campark either.

    You nailed it. So this is how it works, Manufacturing and selling are 2 totally separate things. Unlike here in the states where we expect the company who sells it, made it and wants to maximize the profits by trademarking, copywriting and being the only one to have it. Communism is much more streamlined. They provide mfg of the products and then allow merchants to take the open market route to sell it. Think of it as 1 mfg and anyone who wants to start a store online can buy the camera and have their name printed on it. whoever markets the best or does the best aftermarket upgrades or offers the best free add-ons wins our attention (if you watch reviews or use word of mouth). Some will try and buy the cheaper model and hope we buy it thinking it is the more expensive ones, while others will pay the bigger bucks and sell the finer product. What would be best is to contact the mfg directly and see what they offer. Find the best model they offer and then see what is customizable so you can spot a "full trim" version and then know when you might see a "premium sensor, 2nd tier processor and base level mic" model.

They all have small sensors which limits the amount of light that can be captured hence why virtually all action cameras suffer in low light, heck, even MFT, 1inch sensor and APS sensors suffer in low light to some degree depending on how fast (large aperture) the lens is.

      Thank you re tip !…. The video that I looked at, everything was praised except for the audio. But I did appear to be better than some of the others that I have checked on. Thank you for the tip again. Didn’t say anything about an external mic being available, but that’s OK

    why dont they make ac with night vision tho?

    • @WORTHITORNOT
      @WORTHITORNOT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well you can do it yourself with some action cameras, just screw out the lens and take off the IR filter on the rear of the lens and then screw the lens back in and focus it in. You'll need an IR light but basically you will have a night vision camera but no longer usable in daytime as your video will either be pink or purple because the IR cut filter has been removed.
