Hookshot: Think of the Devil Buster from DMC4, which can not only grab unique grappling points and send the player flying towards that direction, but also can be used to drag enemies closer - or, if they're heavy, drag you towards them. Having that extra combat potential makes it a fun tool overall -- and of course, letting it stick to terrain within a certain range would be a given.

Honestly, the hookshot deserves to essentially be like the grappling hook from halo and meat hook from Doom, simply put, make the player spider-man around. It would be fun to have a flying vehicle that you build and then you can hang underneath it to get around, hell, this could be used in tandem with the item yeeting mechanic that the time lock has and actually give the player the ability to safely throw themselves around the map. I bet it would be a lot more commonly used than the current yeet strats that abuse game engine bugs.
Now that totk is out i feel like the beetle would work quite similar to the sages where it can be toggled from the menu and it just kind of orbits link and collects nearby items automatically and can be summoned for some fuse delivery. The hookshot feels kind of irrelevant because enemies are far less agressive than other games so you usually have time to whip out an autobuild or something
The dominion rod is a great idea! Luckily for us it is in the game (even if in a different form). It is known as a muddle bud. This causes enemies to become enraged and attack on site if hit with it! It can be fused on to weapons to do so.
I've got custom Runes: Vanish - This turns you invisable and immune to damage, but attacking will remove the disguise. Fall damage and lava and presure from big objects can still hurt you and turn you visable again Disguise - This lets you become the enemy, but unlike the lame masks, it allows you to become an enemy, allowing you to act like an enemy until you either take damage, or you decide to remove the disguise yourself Sinkhole - Ascend, but it works the OPPOSITE way. Instead of going up, you go down Pace - Rewind, but it's a fast forward. Just in case an enemy has a LONG steakout, or it's to speed up slow objects Sticky Remote Bomb - Remote Bombs, but if thrown, they'll stick on a flat surface Hack - This can take control of monitors to do something. (Sorry, but if the next LOZ Open World game takes place in a modern version of Hyrule, it's an idea) Decoy - Makes a decoy to fool enemies in order to make a fool of both NPCS and ENEMIES Whiplasher/Grapple Whip/Gripshot - It works like this version of HOOKSHOT, but this could be used to pull objects towards you or swing around. And in the air, time freezes including Link's fall to choose where to grapple. If 2 player is added, then you can also tug other players around or one can ride on a Zonai Build while the other is being pulled. But it has a range limit. Kamikaze - It makes the enemy an explosive as the run frantically around to the nearest enemy or npc or you NOT Related TO RUNES: Ocarina of Time - This will give link a few new options, which could either be fixing damaged weapons, or even shine a light in the caverns. The downside is that you are open and subjectable to attacks and can also alarm enemies.
I feel like you could mix the beetle and hookshot such that you can shoot it at items and physics objects to pull them towards you at a distance. Ultrahand has a pretty short range, especially upwards, so it’d make up for it that way (and allow for new shrine puzzles).
The Dominion ability sort of did come in. The Muddle bud plant when thrown at an enemy temporarily makes them fight for you. It comes in handy as I've found...specially when thrown on an enemy thats more powerful like a Silver one.
The beetle sorta sounds like a drone, which you can build in totk. There are devises that follow enemies and you can attach lasers or canons to that. Not exactly dropping items but alas they can go to a target and hit that
Hookshot could be a weapon that can also attach itself to any climbable surface. There could be multiple versions longshot, clawshot and double clawshot
Imagine upgrading the hook shot so you can use it on enemies. Hooking to them so you can do a flying slash or jumping on there heads into bullet time to shoot all the enemies
i remember during a developer interview, when they were asked about the hookshot being missing from botw, the developer said that it would have broken traversal in the game. they basically didnt want people swinging around like spiderman, as it would have overshadowed most other transportation. i interpreted this as they tried to implement it differently to how the hookshot usually works, but ended up not liking it when testing it.
1. Sometimes when the sages kill enemies they give you the materials they drop (seems to happen commonly when you use Yunobo while stearing a vehicle) 2. Muddle Buds exist 3. Just get Majoras Mask and walk inside without the fear of getting attacked
The dominion rod could function as that or have partial control depending on what u use it on. Say a guardian can fight the spell and itll eventually break out.
I think the dominion aspect might already be in the game, just not as a rune, but imstead an effect. From what I remember of the gameplay showcase Aonuma did, there was a moment when he fused a specific material to his arrow, struck an enemy, and a cloud of purple something erupted, causing the enemies caught in it to turn on each other. I could absolutely see the hookshot and lens runes. Would've made climbing in the rain less painful, and knowing if there's an enemy around the corner always helps. Doubly so if the lens can spot koroks
Honestly im surprised that they didnt make the items as potential hand or pura pad upgrades, like pressing the R button when jumping shoots a clawshot that lets you swing or holding the ZL button when climbing lets you aim and shoot the hookshot to climb better
The Lens of Truth one fit exceptionally well and me, already being at odds with BOTW and TOTK for...various reasons, am now like twice as mad devs didn't think this far.
8:19 Building: - Battery is easy to farm - You can add external batteries for significantly more time Climbing: - Froggy armor exists to make you stick to walls now - Climbing gear makes you go faster, iirc, less stamina used with jumps Ascend is fair I guess but you can always use recall + ascend in tandem to climb
something I would like is a net. with so many critters in the game, a net could be super useful as an option to colllect em. it could also be useful for fishing or maybe even used to hold more then just 5 items.
I would really like to see some of the Sheikah Slate abilities return. Specifically the Stasis ability, but also a re-worked version of Cryonis would be really helpful and also Remote Bombs. There is something fantastic about being able to remotely detonate things that bomb flower bombs just can't replace. Not to mention it does add more depth to puzzles. But if we just had Stasis back I would be happy, that combined with Fuse and UltraHand would completely push the limits of the new physics engine and give us some truly bizarre and unique opportunities 😊
I wish there were some throwback instruments to play in either game, i mean it could be a way people can hand you rupees just by playing them or even have some little purposes, like activating some old ruins or something to get a unique item from the original games. Though im still happy with what we have with the games
I think it would be cool to have a slingshot ability where you could launch objects in place of stasis in totk. I would also just like to have an instrument to play like in Sky where you can just play it for fun it may not serve a purpose other than maybe attracting enemies or putting them to sleep if you play a certain song. You could also center shrines around it where you have to play a certain song from past games in certain areas to reveal the shrine (if you are a new player you can find a stone slab or something nearby with the notes. Also maybe add a pegaus boots leg armor for run speed in place of speed potions.
The hook shot should be a standard weapon/vehicle part that can come in two forms. The hook shot for attaching and pulling in or towards wooden objects such as wooden shields, weapons, or wooden structures. The claw shot for rock or metal objects. The idea is that in combat you can automatically disarm the opponent. You can do this exact thing with a high enough shield of your own or a well timed parry. IT wouldn't be gaming breaking as the tool is subject to breaking like any other weapon but could also be used as a winch when used with ultra hand. Fusing it to your shield just allows you to use it in your off hand.
The way you described the dominion rod is replicated with the new muddle bud. I do wish we get access to a beetle or a new remote control rune to control zonai drones since those are a thing.
Oh my gosh, these are awesome! I love these ideas! Especially the Beetle. I absolutely adore the Sheikah-ified design you gave it! Plus, the Dominion Rod thingy sounds fun as heck; I always find it fun when you get to have enemies on your side in some fashion. The Lens of Truth is great too, and it was very unexpected-yet a quite pleasant surprise! Plus, the little 👌 thing Link does is simply genius. …Uh… I don’t have too much to say about the Hookshot other than… yeah! Good idea! I like the wood and rock targeting thing!
The dominion rod exisits in totk in the form of muddle buds you can fuse them to arrows and shoot them at enemies and they’ll attack all nearby enemies indiscriminately
The dominion rod would be cool if it could only affect enemies that unaware of your presence, and enemies would react similar to how they do with you wearing the masks, if they take damage or after some time they will return to normal and agro on you. Also The Lense of Truth revealing hidden Yigga Clan would be hilarious!
I do like the idea that you can just pilfer most of this stuff off of monsters or mother nature herself. Something like a series of hookshots that enemies can have or a bunch of little beetle constructs that yo can find and like, launch off of a beetle launcher or something would be way cooler than just a regular old key item imo. Then you could even give them different abilities, Beetles that can move super fast but not grab items, Beetles that light items they drop on fire, hookshots that have shorter range but a harder impact or a longer range with zero damage, stuff like that. And things like the ball n chain and instruments, the potential is endless
I think this is a cool idea, but with the wheel already being full, they could instead add these abilities to the Purah Pad, since it doesn't have any abilities of its own. It would involve having to switch ability wheels but could be done.
The hookshot should have a decently expensive craftable item that forms a grapple point, one you can only append to if you’re already climbing said surface. So it can’t be used to bypass climbing or stamina, but you can easily get up structures you’ve climbed before.
The grapple point could be attached to you're zonai vehicles allowing all manner of shenanigans. I think the hook shot should not immediately pullyou towards it , it should allow you to swing on it. Like if you tap the button you shoot it out, if you tap again you real in but other wise it remains extended allowing you to swing on it or pull it around. Imagine making one of those automated death machines that role around on the zonai enemy cart things, but you link to it, so it's like an attack dog on a leash. Alternatively you could use it while shield surfing. To build up speed.
i think an easy way for them to introduce the hookshot would be through a hootshot zonai device. fuse it with a weapon, then aim it with the r button, and its extends and zips you across without throwing the weapon, kind alike how the cannon works when fused to a weapon
(TOTK) Well, with the beetle, we have that with Ultra Hand. You aren't able to go on forever and see everything in the map from one standpoint, but you are able to lift things off of the ground carry them around. (BOTW) This would be nice, but we also have something like this in Magnesis, but still, the idea of sending a drone out with its view as your own is something I always liked. (TOTK) For the Distortion Rune, we have the Muddle Bud. This item is found in the Depths, and it makes Monsters see their own kin as enemies, and it also wears off just like you said. You can just throw it at things, or you can attach it to an arrow. The only downside is that you can't control monsters with it. (BOTW) ... I have nothing to say, just that I agree with you (TOTK) The lens is a great idea, but it does seem a little overpowered. It would be nice to stand at an entrance of a cave and look for a Chest from there, but that would take away the fun of just going in and fighting everything there. Or just imagine looking at a mountain, and seeing that there are enemies inside, but not being able to find the entrance to the cave they are in. This would also spoil the sadistic jump-scare that you get in the depths of having a Linal behind you but not being able to see it. Maybe the lens would be nice after all... (BOTW) This game has nothing like that, and I agree with you here (TOTK) What it is is basically a Grappling Hook, but we do not really need one. You did talk about being able to build things, but I don't think you know about the Steering Stick, as well as Auto-Build. If you want something that is easy to make, just use Auto-Build, and that is like paying for not having to make it by using Zonite. The Steering Stick is a steering wheel, and you are able to control your builds manually, like if you position a fan to go straight up, with the Stick you are able to control where you go (forward, backward, etc.). If you want something that is really cheap to make then position two fans with the wind aimed straight down, on the front and back of a Steering Stick (But it takes so long to get the positioning just right that halfway through you begin to wonder if it is worth it). With that setup the whole need for a grappling hook is void, (just so long as you have some extra charges on you) and once you are happy with your positioning then save it in Auto-Build. (BOTW) There is nothing like a grappling hook in this game so I think they should add this. In the end, great video, and I agree with you from the standpoint of BOTW, but I feel like in TOTK you are able to get around not having these things. They are old fan-favorites though, so maybe they could make Amibo's of them? Anyways thanks for the video, and I hope you make more like this
The lens of truth seems to go against the very discovery/exploration/surprise kind of system that botw and totk has going on. The game doesn't want you to be able to pull out a batman deceptive vision because it wants to hit you with the secret tunnels and surprises. It wants you to think and struggle and get the satisfaction of overcoming the challenge.
Another way the hookshot could be added without making it too OP is to give it ammo. Like maybe it uses up a zonai charge to use it. Good for getting out of a pinch in early game but still getting used sparingly. And in the late game you can have some fun with your stockpile. Also give it a dedicated slot in the bow menu so it can be used in bullet time.
I feel like anything you can do with the beetle you can also do by putting what you need on arrows like bombs well in a combat sense anyways but puzzle wise it would be neat, also isn't dominion rune idea just the Muddle Bud
When it comes to the Hookshot I think there could be a much more interesting way to use it. Instead of being able to hook into stone, limiting it to wood would make sense. However to compensate for this, I think it would be really interesting if instead of going straight to your target, you actually could swing around. This although maybe annoying to find out how to control, could lead to some incredible mobility options.
Beetle- Ultrahand, Dominion- Muddle Shroom, Lens of Truth - Satori or Scanner, Hookshot- Basically all Zonai stuff and Hang-gliding, or even climbing... One good rule of thumb for game design, don't include things that invalidate other systems entirely by being too good.
The lense wouldn't work in those giant worlds unless there's some kinda indicator where it can be used, which kinda defeats its purpose.and I don't want items that you only really use in a particular place, like the dungeon you find it in, and then forgotten for the rest of the game
I can't stop thinking about the stupid possibilities that being able to use the dominion rod on random physics objects alongside enemies could be. Like, imagine being able to control a barrell of tnt to blow it up from a distance, or move around as a crate for the most tedious block puzzles ever. Okay maybe not that one. Heck, imagine a shrine where you have to roll a log through a labrynth of flame and blades to reach the goal. Im sure there would be a lot of trade offs for thia ability to work at all (maybe it drains your health once an object goes out of range or has a cooldown) idunno, but Im sure people more creative than me could think of really stupid and funny stuff this could be used for.
Dominion rod isn't necessarily needed as there are 2 other things you can get which kind of serves the purpose but broken down one being the muddle bud and the other being avatars Muddle bud makes enemies fight eachother Avatars are a small army you kinda control but they fight for you

I was so scared when I saw this thumbnail but thank you so much for clearing it up! Have a great totk playthrough
The dominion rod is a great idea! Luckily for us it is in the game (even if in a different form). It is known as a muddle bud. This causes enemies to become enraged and attack on site if hit with it! It can be fused on to weapons to do so.
I've got custom Runes:
Vanish - This turns you invisable and immune to damage, but attacking will remove the disguise. Fall damage and lava and presure from big objects can still hurt you and turn you visable again
Disguise - This lets you become the enemy, but unlike the lame masks, it allows you to become an enemy, allowing you to act like an enemy until you either take damage, or you decide to remove the disguise yourself
Sinkhole - Ascend, but it works the OPPOSITE way. Instead of going up, you go down
Pace - Rewind, but it's a fast forward. Just in case an enemy has a LONG steakout, or it's to speed up slow objects
Sticky Remote Bomb - Remote Bombs, but if thrown, they'll stick on a flat surface
Hack - This can take control of monitors to do something. (Sorry, but if the next LOZ Open World game takes place in a modern version of Hyrule, it's an idea)
Decoy - Makes a decoy to fool enemies in order to make a fool of both NPCS and ENEMIES
Whiplasher/Grapple Whip/Gripshot - It works like this version of HOOKSHOT, but this could be used to pull objects towards you or swing around. And in the air, time freezes including Link's fall to choose where to grapple. If 2 player is added, then you can also tug other players around or one can ride on a Zonai Build while the other is being pulled. But it has a range limit.
Kamikaze - It makes the enemy an explosive as the run frantically around to the nearest enemy or npc or you
NOT Related TO RUNES: Ocarina of Time - This will give link a few new options, which could either be fixing damaged weapons, or even shine a light in the caverns.
TOTK has an item called Muddle Bud that makes enemies go ham at each other already.
1. Sometimes when the sages kill enemies they give you the materials they drop (seems to happen commonly when you use Yunobo while stearing a vehicle)
2. Muddle Buds exist
3. Just get Majoras Mask and walk inside without the fear of getting attacked
I mean with TOTK coming out the beetle could work well with those new bomb flowers which I’m so glad that bombs are probably not infinite anymore
A nice pay off for the switch to bomb flowers is that, while they aren't infinite, at least bomb flowers do decent damage.
8:19
Building:
- Battery is easy to farm
- You can add external batteries for significantly more time
Climbing:
- Froggy armor exists to make you stick to walls now
- Climbing gear makes you go faster, iirc, less stamina used with jumps
Ascend is fair I guess but you can always use recall + ascend in tandem to climb
They should add back the Oot then make it so you can control time and weather (I hate rain)
The muddle bud actually accomplishes the idea behind your dominion rod concept, funnily enough.
the beetle could work like the PH where you "Draw" the route it will take and then it follows the path and picks up items it connects with on the way
something I would like is a net. with so many critters in the game, a net could be super useful as an option to colllect em. it could also be useful for fishing or maybe even used to hold more then just 5 items.
But if we just had Stasis back I would be happy, that combined with Fuse and UltraHand would completely push the limits of the new physics engine and give us some truly bizarre and unique opportunities 😊
bro that ending got me hahahahaha
I didn't subscribe in fear of being eaten by a Lynel, but because of the hillarity of that bit.
This was really fun to see being animated, whoever sees this should catch the next stream
We got the mind control thing with muddle buds, so yeah.
The dominion rod exisits in totk in the form of muddle buds you can fuse them to arrows and shoot them at enemies and they’ll attack all nearby enemies indiscriminately
in totk we have a mind control thing, so there are flowers called like, buddle buds or smth idk but they make enemies attack eachother
dude the lens of truth idea is actually so hype
I think that the hookshot would have been a good reward for all shrines instead of the old link armor in BOTW
Amazing ideas!
The Lens of truth, ideas incredible as someone who is visually impaired. I would love to have this.
I think this is a cool idea, but with the wheel already being full, they could instead add these abilities to the Purah Pad, since it doesn't have any abilities of its own. It would involve having to switch ability wheels but could be done.
Bro predicted Muddle buds and auto Build 💀
hit sub as SOON as I saw the beetle! One of my favorite items of all time and I was just thinking earlier today how I wished it was in ToTK!
hookshot: link equips the scorpion mask
5:10 thats kinda what those mushrooms that make enemys attack each other does
i think an easy way for them to introduce the hookshot would be through a hootshot zonai device. fuse it with a weapon, then aim it with the r button, and its extends and zips you across without throwing the weapon, kind alike how the cannon works when fused to a weapon
OMG I LOVE THIS IDEA
I think the beetle could be a shrine exclusive, it would be controlled similarly to the motion control shrines
Dominion rod is kind of already in totk in the form of a consumable material called muddle buds.
(BOTW) ... I have nothing to say, just that I agree with you
(TOTK) The lens is a great idea, but it does seem a little overpowered. (BOTW) This game has nothing like that, and I agree with you here
(TOTK) What it is is basically a Grappling Hook, but we do not really need one.
I feel like there are willing trade offs for using and not using it. But I understand your thought process behind it
You gave me ideas for something I am working on with some changes not something to monetize but for myself to have fun with
Another way the hookshot could be added without making it too OP is to give it ammo. Like maybe it uses up a zonai charge to use it. Good for getting out of a pinch in early game but still getting used sparingly. And in the late game you can have some fun with your stockpile.
Also give it a dedicated slot in the bow menu so it can be used in bullet time.
That lens of truth is basically Batman's detective vision
I feel like anything you can do with the beetle you can also do by putting what you need on arrows like bombs well in a combat sense anyways but puzzle wise it would be neat, also isn't dominion rune idea just the Muddle Bud
Oh man “The Hog” would love this!
When it comes to the Hookshot I think there could be a much more interesting way to use it. Instead of being able to hook into stone, limiting it to wood would make sense. However to compensate for this, I think it would be really interesting if instead of going straight to your target, you actually could swing around. This although maybe annoying to find out how to control, could lead to some incredible mobility options.
hookshot should have a sticky upgrade allowing you to stick onto stuff like steel or things you cant climb up like shrine walls
3:39 Pret-ty sure the item you're looking for is a Muddle-Bud, they spawn down in the depths? You're welcome.
For the dominion rod it kinda exists in totk in the form of muddle buds
Now the beetle or a similar item could work very well in Tears of the Kingdom
Your lens of truth sounds like detective mode in Batman.
Beetle flying drone. I might know a guy who likes drones.
We have something kinda like dominion rod in that one flower that makes enemies attack other enemies in tears of the kingdom
Dominion rod isn't necessarily needed as there are 2 other things you can get which kind of serves the purpose but broken down
one being the muddle bud and the other being avatars
Muddle bud makes enemies fight eachother
Avatars are a small army you kinda control but they fight for you
the muddle bud attached to a forrest-dweller's spear: am i a joke to you?
you can get the fierce deity sword in Tears of the Kingdom, however, it is breakable as well.
Can’t believe I didn’t find you sooner but I’m glad I did find you. You’re videos are so high quality
Might have been said alot, but the control is basically muddle bud in totk
The dominion rune is a good idea, it's just like mixing the muddle bud from totk but rune.
This feels like a funke video and I love it
What’s funny is you can do what the bettle can right now
With the Domain rod tears of the kingdom added muldel buds they make enemies attack each other
