Do you want to ramp up your production value on any kind of video? Try adding a stabilized camera to your gear bag. After using it for 2 months, here's my final thoughts of the DJI OSMO 4K 3 Axis gimbal camera. If you're thinking about buying one of these, you need to watch this.
Great review. You sir, are the first reviewer I've seen so far that takes his time with the product. Kudos.
First! The case...."It's for free" .... seriously? For a camera of this quality and built to a price node.... No! It's not free.Secondly..... Well done. A simple, easy to understand introduction to what can be a very complicated device! In all other aspects; well done. A great intro to this 'breaking ground' item!.
Great review.. also those kids are sooo cute! I plan on getting the Osmo Mobile for starters and hopefully eventually getting the Mavic Pro.
Programmed panning should be easy for DJI to include in a firmware update, touch one part of screen for the start position then touch the finish position, then a window appears to set the time for the pan, would be great for timelapse, hoping other app designers come up with better apps for manual settings.
Correction: It shoots 4K at 30 fps maximum and 1080 at 120 fps.
Yeah thats right , it should shoot 4k 60 too !
chill.....felipe
excellent review man. this camera works great. It has limitations, audio is crap, but i don't think DJI thinks of themselves as a sound company. I think they feel like, look we are giving you fantastic video. you figure out the sound. It works great with a lavalier mike or if you have a outside mic like an H2 or any kind of field recorder.
I have the small extension arm and universal mount, so at least a microphone, LED light and phone holder can be installed together. I agree on the case and no way of carrying accessories or extra batteries. Much better sound with the new firmware update too. Overall I love the Osmo.
This is an excellent, high quality really well done review. Kudos. I subscribed. Thanks.
+chadiwack Thanks for the great comment!
Wow! for sure one of the best reviews I've seen on this... Thanks!
thanks, I didn't even think about the audio. the commercials really focus on the video footage. Nice Review.
I don't know anyone that does any amount of video that uses any cameras internal mic. It works really well with external mikes.
You have to think that a lot of buyers of the Oslo aren't using this professionally and simply want it as a very capable point and shoot camera to take home videos and won't be using an external mic. Audio is much better now with the included flex mic but the only way to have proper audio and to monitor it is to record on a separate device.
how is the service? If i buy it on a german store do i have to send it to us or china? Im so confused! Are these reliable? Because that a lot of money. IF something gets broken then you have no stabilizer and not camera at the same time.
Great review sir... I just got mine and excited to use it this weekend.
and did you like it? Tell us what you thought of it if you could....
You just need an extension arm which allows you to mount the phone holder and the accessory mount that allows you to connect the microphone, light, etc. Extension arm! Huge piece to have.
This piece.. I bought it from Amazon which delivered it in two days store.dji.com/product/osmo-straight-extension-arm?set_country=us&gclid=Cj0KEQjwzd3GBRDks7SYuNHi3JEBEiQAIm6EI9IADvJ0w7OXI7mIlQV7Me13_E687JJcKKD21nICCdAaAlsB8P8HAQ
Just FYI, in addition to some new firmware updates, DJI has pushed out an optional accessory called DJI Osmo External Battery Extender ($25 dollars at bandh). With additional 2-pin or 10-pin DC power cable ($5 dollars each), you will be able to connect to your DJI drones batteries. Drone batteries, like the one for DJI Phantom 3, can be purchased and used without actually owning a drone. With a larger capacity of SDHC card, you should be able to shoot 2 to 4 hours continuously. Just Google it and you will see what I meant. Also, DJI gives an external mic (originally a 10 dollars accessory) with every purchase of Osmo now.
The bad things about DJI OSMO: The Internal microphone has bad sound quality, it drains your phone power like crazy, the built in fan in the camera makes noises and the battery doesn't last too long, and you have to go through a couple of steps to set up the OSMO before you can connect and use it.
The only good thing about DJI OSMO i found is just the stabilization. it stabilizes better than any other products i've tried. I found it's only good if you record and put audio over the clips because you can hear the fan blowing in your video clips.
leandrix remorin, jr a gopro hero 6 whit a feiyu tech waterproof stab yep you can get stab shots underwater xD
you can get an additional mount accessory so that you can have 2-3 accessories. I think that's how it works
From Australia...Great video! very informative. Thanks!
+German Silva Thanks
Well done review. Lots of pluses, however the one hour battery life the biggest negative for me.
Thank you, very informative piece. What camera did you film your piece with (and did you color grade that camera)? Your shirt color and skin tone looks totally different through the OSMO. Thank you for doing the review.
Great video - thanks so much! Would you be kind enough to provide a link to the microphone you used?
Thanks for the great in-depth video!!
Audio is a consistent problem with most gimbal devices. How's the quality of the included microphone? Any gimbal motor noise? If a Rode mic is installed using the accessory plate is the audio better?
whats the best Micro SD card for this and how many GB can you use on it?
im getting mine soon.
thanks for the review, its really help :)
can you pause and play and also take pictures while recording with the Osmo or you have take pictures separately?
I feel your pain about DJI. Also had to wait ages for batteries. Also not sure if you knew this yes but there has been a firmware update that's been out for about two weeks now for the osmo that does finally have audio levels and mic gain. Great video.
Awesome. Thanks for the info. A little scared about doing a FW upgrade as I heard the one in December turned some Osmos into bricks and you had to send it in for repair if you were one of those that it happened to.

The new firmware shuts off the fan when you start recording so you won't have the noise any more. But it is better to get a remote microphone to get a better audio. I just got my Osmo 3x and using the Sony ECM-XYST1M microphone which I no longer use on my Sony FDR AX100 4K videocam cause I now use a shotgun mike on it. I am also waiting for my Z-Axis arm which I ordered to further stabilize the video. Yes, the battery sucks so you need some extra batteries which I also ordered. Still debating on using ND filters, but that is when you want to go manual settings. This takes better video on 4k at 30fps than my GoPro Hero 3 that does 4K at 15fps.
Do you reckon the phone mount would fit a Galaxy S7?
I doubt if they will be able to fix the joystick problem because its digital, not a analog stick, so besides the audio, there is another issue with the OSMO. The other problem is that the OSMO X3 camera isn't cross compatible with the Inspire 1 quadcopter, so they force you to buy the camera that comes with the OSMO, especially if you want 120 fps, and that brings me to another problem, it has to crop in on the sensor to achieve that effect. It is a cool machine though, I wish the plastic thos was so cheap looking and I hope DJI addresses these issue soon and make the OSMO 2, plus, or whatever.
Thanks for that thorough review BC. Still on the fence right now on adding one to my arsenal. Love the 4K 120 fps for sure. And the fact that the cam is not a GoPro. I'm assuming the price was USD ? Knowing you're lean travel gear did adding this
to your carry on cause any concerns ? As always .... keep up the great work. Love the reviews man.
Yes DB. $650 USD. If I take it carry on, I have to leave something out of the regular kit. Case isn't really that small unfortunately.
The 4k is not 120 fps. Atleast not in 4k. Only in 1080p.
Hi, thanks for your review, i already got one. But there is something may be you can help me with, when i used my iPhone 6, with the dji go app, the orientation can be change whether its portrait or landscape, but when i switched to my iPad, the orientation stays at landscape, even though the orientation button is unlock. may be you can help. thanks.
The background noise from the osmo is what puts me off, even with an external mic you can still hear it slightly with a little popping everthing else looks really cool.
I'm really struggling to choose between the osmo or the GoPro 4 black with the Zhiyun Z1 evolution gimbal.
Well how much is the other gymbol you mention? This costs about the same as the black 4. I'm also wondering what other options there are
Can you provide a link to the external microphone you used? And the accessory holder?
Does it have autofocus? I'm assuming it focuses automatically for it being so small and steady by itself. -thanks!
Thanks for the review, was really helpful. Can you use the Osmo without the phone?
Yes you can. You just can't see the image or change any settings. You can still get good results. Just point in he general direction and shoot in auto.
+Everyday Reviews Thanks!
Nice video. My recorded files are badly out of sync. Any help out there?
Audio leveling is now available.

What kind of microphone is in the osmo at this point in time?
When downloading the App to an example iphone, does the app come with a give info away to third party, or is it just for the user alone.? Does i need to edit thru the app on the internet or is it private on my own computer..?
Thanks for this!!! Great review
Very informative video. Any idea if I an get a good shallow depth of field similar to shooting with a DSLR?
+Hanny Alshazly No for shallow depth of field. The sensor is much smaller than DSLR.
So does the footage save on the phone?
I've seen some people use these for snap chatting , are they just saving the video to the gallery and uploading via upload n roll. Also i had a problem saving serration resolution videos
Hello thank you for that great review I just have a question how can I get a shallow depth of field with the DJI osmo
thanks mate = bloody good review - sold
Hi there.. I wanted to ask you something about the audio. You are saying you cannot hear audio during interviews and stuff. But can't you just put in a headset with minijack into your phone? Doesn't the app produce any audio which you can hear?
No, you cannot monitor audio out of your phone unfortunately.
Good review!
Hey man, great review, question, what mic are you using | recommend? Looking forward to hear back. Thanks!
+Sebastian Ulloa I use a SennheiserEW100. They're pretty good but the G2 is better. Pretty solid other than ice had to rewrite the lav a few times as there is very little stain relief on the cable near the connector.
Would you recommend this for vloggin?
What camera did you use to film this review? I'm debating between a conventional camera for TH-cam videos and an osmo. Just curious what you're using here.
I used a Lumix gh4 for this review.
Impressive! Does it have continuous autofocus?
+Tina Tintori It is fixed focus.
It has shit autofocus is what it has.
Do u guys know any small camera that has a decent autofocus and image stabilization together?
Very helpful! Thank you!
Great video, im gonna buy one :)
Yes, Yes, Osmo is great but I just want to give you an important advice.... You have to consume those bananas soon before they get rotten!!! LOL
That's the kids job. Great observation. Thanks for watching.
+Everyday Reviews
I told you. I speak by experience ;-)
regards!
Great review!
please suggest the best non-electronic gimbal/stabilizer fot gopro hero5. I'd really be thankful.
great review
Nice video I'm think about buying an osmo but I still want dat go pro too :(
Hi ur video is too good. But is this good for making shirt films and screening it in big screens?
Sorry short films
Great video!
The Gimbal roll and wonky horizon control and lack thereof kills this product for me. I wish they would just give you the option to control the horizon with the joystick rather than panning or lock the horizon so that its a 2 axis gimbal.
Hey, good review, I see you are on the West Coast (I am too), where did you get the Osmo for $650? I was at the DJI store today and the lady quoted me a price for $900 plus. Let me know. Cheers!
I got it from BH Photo for $650 USD. Did they raise the price?
+Everyday Reviews Ah! USD, that makes it about $900 plus CDN. So its about right. Amazon.ca is around $850 CDN. There is also a new camera for the Osmo with Micro 4/3 sensor out (I think). Waiting for that to be readily available. Hope you are still enjoying your Osmo!
Does DJI have something similar to gopro's protune mode?
+kelioos Not that I know of. It does have some nice manual controls though.
+kelioos AFAIK the DJI 'equivalent' of protune is D-Log (more here: forum.dji.com/thread-35653-1-1.html)
Osmo footage almost always looks extremely compressed and aliased when I see it. I'm hoping that's just an issue with TH-cam's own compression though.
Which App is it for android? Is that the "DJI GO"?
+Soniboy84 Yes, DJI Go.

nice sir ji good Review
+vinayak photozone thanks for watching and for the comment.
I'm watching this video after like 3 complete years , do you think it is good for Cinematography ?
Journey With Me for an all in one unit, it is still good and I still use it.i also have the pocket Osmo which is not very good compared to this. As long as you have good light, this works great.
@@EverydayReviews2022 thats it i was waiting for the answers like this , i think the same that pocket is not good as compared to this , cuz pocket the limited 400 charging cycles. Thank you ! Awesome review
Could you possibly provide a link to the video of that Ram 1500 review?
The RAM Review has not been edited yet. Will give you a link when it's done. Thanks for watching.

Awesome review, I 100% agree with u on how DJI handles their orders, I ordered Osmo Mobile and after one month they said they are having issues with the orders and they will dispatch as soon as possible, I wrote them and asked them how long and they failed to give any time, after 1 and half month I had to cancel my order and they were not polite at all after wasting my time, I was hit by currency conversion in between charging and getting refund, say around 20-25$, I got nothing waited 1.5 months stuck my money and bank took 25$ and they lost a customer, since then because if their staff attitude i decided not to buy anything from them, I had a plan for Mavrick Pro as well, but after reading the comments of people who ordered that in first place I decided to live without their Gimble and Drone. Awesome products in hand of super idiot non professionals in terms of managements
NiteIze S-biner, not a lanyard. The correct term would be a carabiner.
is the case waterproof?
I don't think so.
Will you be doing a giveway for the OSMO?
+Mr_Swedish sorry, no giveaway here. Why would you ask? Is DJI doing a giveaway?
+Everyday Reviews No I was wondering, because my dream is becoming a photographer and film maker. And no I don't think they are doing a giveaway.
+Mr_Swedish good thing is that with technology today. You can achieve amazing results for very little money so you're dream is a lot closer than ever before. I paid almost $1000 for my Osmo with all the accessories when it came out so I will not be giving it away. Good luck and thanks for watching.
How do you suggest DJI makes the case open at the top. It's just not possible because of the shape of the osmo and therefor the case. Furthermore: I think your solution is far worse. You only have to walk a bit to fast or make a quick turn and your precious camera will smash into the next wall or fence.
I think the Osmo is just not meant as a point and shoot. I personally use it for videomaking with good stabilized footage.
+Axel Köhler Maybe make the case a top loading case like different camera bags. Double zipper on top holding a closed flap. As for point and shoot filming , I know half a dozen people that own an Osmo and only 1 of them use it for work/professional the rest for family bodies and vacations. Perhaps a different demographic here compared to where you're from. It's a great tool otherwise. Thanks for the comment.
sorry but I think your wrong when you say , you don't have to use your phone? you do because it records to phone as there is no storage media built in
+John Chapman ? ?? The phone is just for the app. The ad card is on the camera. I've used it several times without the phone. You may be mistaking this for the Osmo Mobile which uses your phone as a camera.
-You did not mention battery life, how much it last at 4K rec.?
-Is it waterproof?
-How much memory it has?
I believe that I did mention that the battery only last for an hour at the most. The memory depends on what size SD card you use and no, the unit is not waterproof.
Everyday Reviews You mention general battery use. But not specifics to recording or photos.
Thanx for the reply.
Why are you standing on the corner edge of the table?
+Paulus J. Didn't you know that people pay more attention when watching someone on a corner? Just kidding. Just the angle that i need to put the camera and to crop out a cluttered kitchen. The island is 14 ft long.
i really want to like this camera... but when you did the mic test and it the footage was focus on your kitchen cabinets and not you... that is a huge disappointment.... I hope a new model comes out addresses this issue! 1.5m minimum focus distance is too damn long for something that is supposed to be hand held and take selfies.
Check out OSMO+
Great video, thanks. Super cute kids :D
That's not a lanyard, bro, it's an S biner.
+Stevie C You are correct.
wait DJI OSMO version 2, long battery life
+muslimin karben yeah that'd be great! although I'd be happy with just an extended batterypack ^^
is the bananas real @ 3:15?
Key ring on end appears to be a bad idea. That little shunt of polymer without metal reinforcement is a recipe for disaster. A super magnet check reveals no ferrous metals in this area. Gimbal hits the concrete, buy new stuff.
Hmmm. Interesting point. I haven't had any problems yet but will definitely think about this. Thanks.
1 hour? Definitely needs a larger battery. More MaH
not even one hour. i bought mine 2 days ago battery barely lasted me 30 minutes of filming on 1080p.. terrible
Just Google it and you will see what I meant. Also, DJI gives an external mic (originally a 10 dollars accessory) with every purchase of Osmo now.
Hmm thats interesting. i thought the external battery extender was only used so that you could connect it to a wall socket at home, n not to be attached to a bigger dji battery, thats useful thank you. i will keep note of this.
Osmo IQ isn't that good. still i like the handling of this gimbal. i played with it in a store for a bit. IQ not too impressive.
4k 120fps...what????
+Trevor Whiting for 4K its 30 fps maximum and 1080 at 120fps
you dragged the dislike on the case a lil too long
That's not a lanyard, lol
Yeah. As soon as I was editing this I realized I said lanyard. Good catch on the carabiner. Thanks
Haha, glad you caught it too :)
chal chutiye osmo is the best
great review!!
